Songs Not Completely Playing

Hello.  I recently copied my itunes library to a new laptop (HP).  I'm having problems with some of the songs not playing completely.  these songs stop after 2:15 of playing and it goes onto the next song and the same thing happens.  anyone heard of this? thx.

I've just updated itunes on Windows, thought they might have solved the problem.... They didn't.
Some songs keep cutting off at the 2.37 mark around there.....
Otherwise all songs are fully playable on VLC and windows media.
What is it? the coding or LAME??
I see this problem has been around for some time without any help from Apple/iTunes to fix and a simple fix at that.....
I shouldn't have to delve into the computer system to find this and alter that.. A simple fix is what needed here.

    Hello Oneway2,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
If the Control Panel is not functioning properly for you, I would force quit all the apps, and then restart the iPod and try again.
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.

If that does not fix the Control Panel, I would next backup to iTunes and restore the iPod.

  • Songs not completely downloaded...

Many of the songs that I have downloaded on my iPod nano are not complete. Sometimes it will only play the first 10-15 seconds of the song, or sometimes it will cut it short. However, all of the songs play perfectly on my computer. I have restored my iPod three times and the same thing happens to the same songs every time. I used to have an iPod mini, and all of the songs played just fine on it, so I don't think it's a problem with the song's formats. Any suggestions? Thank you so much!

Go into iTunes under the Advanced tab and select Convert Selection to ACC. Only do this to the songs not playing completely because it uses about 1MB more space.

  • [Bug] Unchecked songs not being played, skipped in all playlists

To me this is a bug. I used the check feature to determine what gets transferred to my iPod -- I have 120 gig iPod Classic and over 300 gig of music as can see not all of my music can fit on my iPod.
    1) There needs to be an easy way to to determine what gets transferred to the iPod without affecting what iTunes plays... just because I have it unchecked doesn't mean that I don't like the track... if I don't like the track, I delete it. Multiple playlist isn't the answer, too cumbersome to maintain
    2) iTunesDJ will play unchecked but will not automatically choose them... what good is that... there needs to be a simple way of doing this too.
    Thanks,
    George

Another method you can use to auto-sync your iPod with iTunes is "Sync Music - Selected Playlists". Syncing selected playlists is just like syncing your whole library only on a smaller scale and more "selectively". This is particularly useful when your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod, it also makes it much simpler to know exactly what you are syncing to the iPod and what you are not. When your iPod is is set to sync selected playlists it automatically picks up any changes you made to that playlist in iTunes since you last connected. Anything you added to the playlist will be added to the iPod, anything you deleted from it will be deleted from the iPod. In other words the iTunes playlist and the iPod are kept "in sync".
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). Drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod: Syncing Music to iPod
Using unchecking to manage an iPod is an option (and works fine when you are working with a small number of specialised tracks such as Christmas songs) but only if you can live with the other things unchecking does:
Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs from the library or a selection. They will only play when individually clicked on.
Smart Playlists have an option that unchecked songs won't appear.
Unchecked songs will not be burned to CD.
Genius and iTunesDJ will not use the songs that are unchecked.

  • Downloaded ALBUM and a few tracks will not complete play. it stops.

yup title says it all, i can't seem to play a few songs fully, it just stops. also i can't scroll past where the song stops. i deleted 1 song hoping i could redownload it. but nope i can't anymore.

thanks. i tried your instructions which i basically had done before without success. trying to watch carefully what was happening after i had deleted the entire cd from itunes and then synched, i noticed the tracks were NOT deleted from ipod! i then deleted them manually, tried to sync again and nothing happened (the just added tracks were not copied to ipod) so checked ipod's music tab in itunes. there the synch music box was not checked for some reason which i do not understand as i had previously been able to sync music successfully and the synching ipod bar at the top of itunes always processes. anyway, also marked the entire music library button, pressed sync and all music in ipod was updated and now the problem tracks are ok. all seems to be right at this point. thanks again.

  • Some songs not completing...

Anyone having a problem with iTunes not finishing certain songs? I have recently moved my library from my Powerbook to my new iMac and with certain songs (only a small set of them actually) .. I just can't get iTunes to move past a certain spot .. whether it be the 2 second, 17 second, 1:35 second, etc..
This does not seem to happen for any reason, and ignores any start and stop times I may have set (or unset) on the song.
I'm assuming this is a bug, but am looking for further confirmation or workarounds. Thanks

OK very interesting .. this was definitely some sort of file corruption. For the record I had rsync'd my powerbook copy to a smbfs filesystem. I used ftp (because smbfs is messed up on 10.5.2) to download that file from the smbfs filesystem to my imac. For some reason the ftp process added a corruption to the file. I was able to consistently replicate this... very odd as this did not happen to all my songs, only a handful.
When I scp'd the file from my powerbook to my imac .. the transfer worked flawlessly and the song now plays without error.
Regarding iTunes handling of the corruption:
    1. when it experienced that corrupt point in the file it just skipped to the next song.
    2. when I listened to the file via the Finder preview function (apple-I, play) via ftp mount point .. at the corruption point there was just a quick bit of static and the song continued playing.
Interesting that the Finder preview function seems to be able to skip through the corruption and iTunes is not.

  • Songs not fully playing in itunes or ipod....

Just wondering why some songs skip to the next even though the full song is in itunes? It's just random i'll be listening and then bam, goes to the next song.

nevermind lol.......guess what was happenin was that I loaded the songs on the shuffle after I changed the info on the certain songs to make ringtones with them, so it was only playing 30secs. I feel like such a dolt lmfao.

  • HT1725 Songs not completely downloaded

When I downloaded my previously purchased songs to my computer, they were all cut short. Example: Songs that are 3 minutes only 1 minute was downloaded. There was not an interruption during downloading. This happened with every song. Any ideas?

Sorry, I gave you the wrong advice in my previous reply.
Try deleting and redownloading again, this time with simultaneous downloads disabled.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unchecked.

  • TS3297 The songs are not complete... :(

I have recently (today) purchased an album through iTunes. The album was completely downloaded onto my computer. However for some reason iTunes will not completly play several of the songs (stopping at under 2 min when there is at least a min left). It does this for about 4 of the songs....that's a good chunk of the album. Why is this and more importantly, how do I get this fixed? Any response would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Songs "not copied to the ipod because it cannot be played on this ipod"

After having my ipod stolen i purchased a new Ipod classic. When syncing my music to my ipod i get an error on a number of songs, "not copied to ipod because it cannot be played on this ipod." This did not happen with my old ipod which i purchased just one year prior. Why can these songs not be played on my new ipod?

"I bought this song on iTunes - wrote the song to CD - made an MP3. Then tried to copy the song (MP3) to my Nano."
Was there some particular reason you did this? I'm just curious as to why you didn't leave it as an AAC file.
Do you still have the original downloaded AAC file and does this play on the iPod ok?

  • I downloaded 9 songs and 2 of them are not complete when I play my IPOD they play 3/4's then end., I downloaded 9 songs and 2 of them are not complete when I play my IPOD they play 3/4's then end.

I dowloaded 9 songs and 2 of them are not not complete when I play them on my IPOD Classic the songs play then 3/4's of the way they end.

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

  • HT201272 I am missing parts of songs downloaded from itunes.they are in my purchased section but not in the artists folder.they play for the first part but do not complete the track

For the last few downloads the albums have been incomplete.most of the tracks are ok, but two or three tracks start ok but do not finish ,stopping after an short part and then going on to the next track. the songs are complete when i check them in the purchased section, but are incomplete in the album folder.

Thank you, I read that lengthy procedure before I asked the question.
I have no way of following all of those steps successfully since I am about butterfingered a sthe last dinosaur and will make every  mistake in the world and get frustrated with  something that SHOULD be simple.
I have the three disk autobook showing in iTunes library as one title , I had to  enter the dat amyself since it was not listed on the internet data base, All entries for all tracks match and I have indicated  the disk number  as  one, two or three of three as indicated.
Yet when I sync the iTunes to the iPod I am being presented with each individual track listed in the Audiobook Menu.
I am using the latest version of iTunes and a iPod Classic 160G-- that I purchased three days ago purposefully for the converting of the audiobooks to a portable device since the Library of Congress  ( NLS BARD ) books are formatted differently and the player is bulky.
Does anybody hav eany other ideas?
Does anybody have an e-mail address for Apple,  preferably iTunes folks?
This is a handicap accessability problem since my wife cannot see and depends on these audio books.
Obviously I will try that link to that Chapter and Verse site and see what I can do.
Thank you for your quick response
