SONGS NOT PLAYING iTunes 7, iPod 1.1.2.8

WOW, HOW ABOUT THAT?! MY IPOD WON'T PLAY MUSIC... I recently upgraded to the new itunes (computer reformat) and upon plugging my working ipod in, it prompts to upgrade to iPod 1.2. Assuming (regretably) that it might have fixed some of the problems in 1.1.1.0, I agreed. Now none of the songs I transfer will even play on my ipod. I cannot click "play" on an artist OR "Music" or an album, unless it's one that it wants to play.
If anyone has any fixes, suggestions, besides going WAY OUT of my way. PLEASE reply. Otherwise, I plan on restoring my ipod and hopefully finding a download of the less-sh**ty v6 of iTunes.
I guess I will HAVE TO F*ING RESTORE my IPOD FOR THE I-DON'T-KNOW-HOW-MANY'TH TIME. THIS IS REDICULOUS!!! AN IPOD THAT DOESN'T PLAY MUSIC!!! Of course, they have those Pay-For games down pat, don't they. You Mac fans have no idea about a monopoly. What choices do you have for an operating system? I will use this HACK to downgrade:

Set the visible build ID to a lower number than you want to update to. This will allow you to again UPGRADE to a new version instead of having to do a factory restore. Why they don't let you do this by default, I don't know. But it works fine.

I too can't believe that Apple has pubically done nothing to admit there are "issues" with iTunes 7. All of management must be too busy congradulating themselves for a job well done releasing wonderful new product with the revolutionary iTunes 7. Shouldn't these people be working on Windows Vista?
So far, I've lost everything on my iPod, all of my podcasts cannot be transferred from my computer, I can't run any Windows programs while iTunes is running or my computer locks up so bad I have to un plug it and iTunes will not even open if you don't have an internet connection. Yeah this is really convienent. Nice job.
I really hope that the person responsible for releasing this looses their job as this has not only cost me money from my lost purchased downloads but also lost productivity in taking the time to troubleshoot this software that countless engineers should have done.

  • Audio on some songs not playing - iTunes Library hosted External Hard Drive

Since moving my music to an external hard drive connected to my Airport Extreme, audio on some tracks will not play. Seemingly at random, songs will just silently move through the track time. Visually it looks as if the tracks are playing, the iTunes timer-cursor moves through the track as if audio is playing. Instead of playing the audio I hear x:xx minutes of silence.  If I rewind the song to the begining audio will play as it should.  I wasn't having this issue when music was hosted locally. There's doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason which tracks are play and which don't.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Cheers!

Try starting iTunes with the option key down. Then click "Choose Library" and navigate to your new library.

Hi just wanted to let you know I solved most of my XP problems with my new IPOD. It won't recognise the IPOD or driver and froze and locked up and then the battery died. After hours of trying different things here is what I did. I completly closed computer down. Waited 15 minutes turned on and reloaded everything. I put the usb cable in but not hooked up to IPOD. I turned off Mcaffee (all of it). After my computer came on. I then went and closed everything I didn't need in the bottom toolbar. (taskbar). I then reloaded the software and waited. Took forever to reload and I don't know why but whatever it worked but I DID NOT HOOK UP THE IPOD LIKE IT SAID! I instead shut down the computer after loading the software and waited 5 minutes and turned it back on. I again waited and shut of mcaffee. It loaded everything fine this time and said new hard ware and drivers detected. I plugged my IPOD in and YES I WAS UP AND RUNNING (THIS IS AFTER 6 HOURS OF PLAYING WITH OTHER THINGS!) I am able to load and play, burn, watch movies, see pictures and everything your suppose too! The only thing I see different than the instructions is I left my usb cable plugged in and when it said to eject the disk I didn't. I also didn't plug in the IPOD (5th Gen) and then I shut down waited and then restarted the computer. I hope this helps others because I know the feeling of wanting to return something you paid dearly for and worked hard at saving money to buy one and it doesn't work. My only thing I dislike about apple is they didn't supply a ac adapter for the IPOD and the instructions say to plug it up when trying to charge battery. DUHHHHHH, ya can't do that if ya don't have one and stores are closed and won' open until Monday! But at least I am up and running. I just hate having to plug up IPOD to computer daily to charge the battery which only last a half a day1

  • Songs not playing properly on 3rd gen iPod (click wheel)

I have a large amount of songs on my iTunes and iPod, and I often buy new music (from sources other than iTunes) to add to me collection. After updating my iPod last night to add a new album that I purchased, I noticed today that certain songs on my iPod would not play properly. When they come up in the cue or are selected to play manually, they appear on the screen, stay at "0:00 elapsed" for a second or two, then the iPod simply switches to the next cued song, as if this song has come to an end. If it's the only song in the cue, the iPod reverts to the general Menu screen.
I checked my iTunes to see that the songs were still in my library and that I did not move or delete the source. None of the affected songs had the "This song cannot be found" exclamation point next to them, and they all played fine on my computer through iTunes, but they simply wouldn't work on the iPod. I updated my iPod tonight in hopes that the mistake would correct itself, but nothing's happened.
Since this is a rare problem, I haven't been able to find any FAQs or solutions regarding it. I hope someone has the answer.
    Thanks for your time.

I have the exact same thing happening. I just bought the new Foo Fighters album, the songs play on iTunes, but will not play on my iPod. I have updated my iTunes and iPod to try to get it to play with no success. With the iPod in the sourcelist, I can play the songs from the iPod music list, but not once the iPod is undocked from my PC the song titles come up for a brief second then skip to the next song on the album without ever playing any audio. I even tried to delete the album and reload it. Never had this happen with any other songs, artists, etc.

  • Songs not playing in iTunes 7

Since I downloaded the new iTunes 7, I cannot play any songs in my library, or on disc. I could with the old version. Does anyone know what is different about version 7 which could be creating this problem?

Maybe you have multiple accounts that's why your purchase history is empty. You can try checking for possible Apple IDs that's existing for you or you can ask for assistance from support.

This forum is for questions from people who administer iTunes U sites. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the iPod nano forums.

  • Single song wont play on my ipod

I have one new song in particular that will not play on my iPod. It works fine on my computer in iTunes, but in my iPod when I try to play it, the iPod hangs for about two seconds, and then skips over to the next song.
I figured that the file must have been corrupted somehow even though it worked on my PC, so I deleted it from my PC. I then synced my iPod and chose not to transfer it so it would be removed from my iPod as well. Then, I spent the 99 cents to just buy it again. Brand new download, and the same problem is still happening.
    Any help would be appreciated.

The only suggestion I could make is to ensure that the song is aac format and/or under a certain file size. I had a problem with one song also and converting to aac fixed it-- probably because the file size was dramatically reduced by the conversion. However, if you purchased this song from the iTunes store it should be in aac it think.

  • HT1473 How do I get a purchased song to play on my ipod shuffle remote from the docking station?

How do I get a purchased song to play on my ipod shuffle remote from the docking station?

I can think of only one reason a song would be "converted" while it is being loaded on a shuffle.
Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, depending on iPod model, go to the Summary or Settings tab.  There should be a setting there that says Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC (the 128 kbps part may be adjustable).  If that checkbox is checked, try unchecking it.
NOTE:  This setting may allow more songs to fit on the shuffle, but for any converted song, the sound quality will become inferior.  So I don't use it.

  • After updating, Radiohead TKOL songs not playing correctly

I downloaded Radiohead's The King Of Limbs album from Radiohead's site back when they first released the album.  iTunes never had any problem playing these files before.  Now, however, the sound is just all screeches.  I was just listening to these songs recently, so my only guess is that the recent update did something.
    Additional info:
As far as I can tell, all my other music still plays in iTunes just fine.
Windows Media Player is still playing TKOL just fine, so it's not a problem with the files, just iTunes.

  • Ipad does not play itunes match

ipad does not play itunes match

Certainly you can use your iPad, start iTunes, sign-in to iTunes Store and turn-on iTunes Match.  Provided you use the same Apple Id as the library that you initially enabled iTunes Match on you will see all the Songs available.  These can then be played.

  • In my shuffle 4g the songs not playing properly most of the times it gives some kind of sound and stop playing songs.

in my shuffle 4g the songs not playing properly most of the times it gives some kind of sound and stop playing songs.

First, make sure the headphones plug is completely pushed into the headphones jack.  Because the jack serves multiple functions, the fit may be tighter than expected (especially if you have the Apple EarPods).
Also, try using the headphones with another device, to rule out bad headphones.  Or try another set of (known working) headphones with the shuffle.
Are you using older headphones that have remote control buttons?  Not the latest EarPods and not the immediately previous version of white Apple earbuds.  Or non-Apple headphones with remote control buttons.  It's possible they are not compatible and interfering with the shuffle's operation.  Any standard headphones (with no buttons) should work.
If that does not help, you can try doing a Restore on the shuffle in iTunes.  The Restore button is on the shuffle's Summary screen in iTunes.  This will erase the shuffle, reinstall its software, and set it to defaut settings.  If a software (or settings) problem on the shuffle is the cause, the Restore should fix it.
Otherwise, if the Restore does not help, it may be a hardware problem.  If it has been less than one year since purchase, it is under warranty.

  • Upgraded to IOS5, now music doesnt work right, displayed song not playing, plays 3,4 songs then stops although is appears to be playing. Help

upgraded to IOS5, now music not working right. displayed song not playing, plays 4,5 songs and stops although it appears that it is playing. Cycled pwr, didn't work. tried resyncing, same thing.Help?

I have an iPhone 4 and ever since I upgraded to iOS5 i've got the same problem. Apple need to release a patch as there's no way of fixing this unless we downgrade our phones back to iOS4 which would just suck!
I often shut the music app down and start again but even then the artwork doesn't match the song playing and will only play a few songs. It's frustrating when you're driving or going for a run, having to pull over or stop and sort it out.
We'll have to wait for Apple to bring out a patch unfortunately.
