Songs not shown in Ipod 60GB

Hi,
A new user here
I ripped an audio cd and stored it into Ipod. So in Ipod I can search by artist or album name.
Then later i manually add a few more songs into Ipod by the same artist but i did not enter the album name.
When i brws music library in Ipod, look for the artist name, all i can see are those songs from the CD but not those i added manually. Even though both have the same artist name.
In order to solve this, I hv to remove all the album name for the artists, then only I can view all songs under the artist name.
Can someone explain this strange behaviour?
BTW, my Ipod already updated with latest software from apple.com with Ipod updater.

If you want to view all your songs, you have to give them an album name.
Easiest way is in iTunes sort by Album name. Select all the songs with no album name, Get Info and give them a anme such as Unknown Album. Then they will appear as they should.
It's a hassle to give all the songs an album name.
Okay. I guess you are satisfied not viewing all your songs.
I do notice an UNKNOWN ALBUM folder under the artist name in my Macbook. But the unknown album thingy cannot be located in my Ipod
If it does nto have an album name, iTunes puts the music in these folders (instead of under the artist folder). You cannot locate it on the iPod just as you cannot locate any other folders with music in them. You don't have to see them. iTunes takes care of it.

Why are previously purchased songs not shown as "Purchased" in itunes store?

Dave, I have this issue too.
I bought entire album from iTunes, an it downloaded successfullly but song tags such as album name were empty.
I deleted album, but, because it was not in Purchases section, I could not download it again.
I found album in Store and tried to buy it again, but Store told me that I already bought this album so would I like to go to Purchases section and download it from there?
Grrrrr, I do not like when a computer wanna be smarter than me.
I wrote a letter to tech support and paralelly called them. It was on last week.
Today I receive letter that they do something and I must check for the new downloads in iTunes.
OK I done it - and album was downloaded again absolutely correctly.
But it is still unavailable in Purchases section so I cannot download it on another authorized computer. And there's only one way to put this album to my iPhone: over sync.
At the same time, before and after this accident I successfully bought and downloaded on iPhone and two computers 4 another albums.
I guess that in fact there is something wrong with iTunes database farm, but Apple will never tell us about this

On my computer, they were there, but when I tired putting them on my iPod, a message came up saying "Song Not Allowed On iPod" or something like that. Can someone tell me what to do or at least someone telling me they have that same problem.

  • Song not shown in artists section

I have an IPod Touch 5th Gen with  IOS 6, which I bought recently. It was synced to my ITunes using IMatch. So all my songs in ITunes are now in my IPod Touch.
I downloaded a song yesterday (but it was not downloaded from ITunes). I looked up the artist in my IPod Touch, by clicking on "music" on the desktop and then clicking on "artists". I checked for all the artist's songs, The artists songs were listed except for the song I downloaded yesterday. It was not shown. I checked under "artists" for all the artists songs, and also for songs in each album listed for that artist, but the song was not there.
Then I looked for the song under "songs" in my IPod Touch, and the song was there. (Click on music on the desktop, then "songs").  It showed the name of the song and the artist.
I also looked under the appropriate playlist and the song was there too. It showed the name of the song and the artist. It was associated together with the artist's other songs in the playlist, as it should be.
So the song I downloaded yesterday, correctly listing the artist, shows up both in the playlist and under "songs", but the song does not show under "artists". Why? Very few of my songs were downloaded from Apple ITunes, so that is not the problem. This is the only song I had this problem with.

If the only songs by The Doors that you have, are on compilation albums, that's why the artist isn't showing up in the Artists menu. (If you then add an album by The Doors, they would show up.)
However, all is not lost. On your iPod, go into the Settings/Main Menu and un-tick the Compilations. Do the same in Settings/Music Menu. All artists should now appear in the Artist list, subject to...
My habit is to make sure that albums by various artists (proper compilation albums) have "Various Artists" typed into each track in the field Album Artist. (Select the complete album, then use File/Get Info/Info>Album Artist. Make sure it is the Album Artist, not Artist. Also look on File/Get Info/Options>Part of a Compilation and set that to "Yes".
For "greatest hits of <artist x>" albums, I check them to make sure they do not have Part of a Compilation ticked, because they are not proper compilation albums. iTunes doesn't think they are either!

  • Songs not playing on iPod Touch

I upgraded my iPod Touch 4G to iOS 5.  I had trouble with apps but they are fixed now.  My problem now is music.  It retained my data but some songs won't play.  I didn't buy them on iTunes - they are from an older library when I didn't have iTunes.  Now it just plays the next song and it's very irritating.  They play on my computer and I haven't changed the file location.  Any tips?

Not sure if your issue is the same I had: not playing tunes, playing the wrong tune, skipping ahead several tunes, selected song and playing song not matching. Here was my fix:
Altered from original solution from Emily P:
Okay, mine now works here is what I did.
plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
in iTunes select the phone or iPad
Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
    Sync
Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
Now check them both back on, sync, and everything should copy back onto it.
    Working now !!!!!

  • Songs not playing on Ipod

Having transfered songs from Itunes to Ipod, some songs appear on the ipod list, but when click to play, it skips certain songs.
In one example, it skips 6 songs on an album and starts playing only on track 7.
On itunes, the songs play perfectly well, just not on the ipod
    Any thoughts?

Yes. iToons 8 does not work with Windows. I do not understand why Apple still offers it for download except to sabotage Windows users' iPuds.

  • More on itunes 6.0.1 songs not going to ipod URGENT help

I have tried to read every releated post on this but I am having the same problems as other but the typical solutions arent working (Its urgent because I am leaving town and hoping to have the new music)
When I try to transfer songs it says the ipod software is too old, I have updated with 10-12 updater previous posts say to only mount ipod when instructed but it never prompts me. When it gives an option for installing on hard drive or ipod I have tried the ipod option it says I need to have OSX 10.2.8 which I do. I have itunes 6.0.1 (3) which has solved other peoples problems. In other help areas it says to use the restore through the ipod updater but never comes up either. I am hesitant to restore and then have nothing work anyway. It seems as if the ipod is never being updated. I dont know what else to ry. Any ideas Please.

Jennifer, I thought iTunes 6.01 was only for 10.3.9 and above?
iTunes 6 requires 10.3.9+ for video, but otherwise requires 10.2.8+.
I had the same problem Jennifer mentioned, and what I did was as follows:
Go to Applications -> Utilities -> iPod Software Updater. Double-click on the updater in this list with the 2005-10-12 date attached to it.
In our case, it said we had iPod software version 2.2 installed, and needed updating. I clicked on the "Update" button, installed the software, and waited for the 'pod to reboot. Once it did, we had version 2.3 installed and we could transfer music again.
Hope this helps. Some people have reported this failing with a message that it found no firmware or something like that, but I know it's worked for some.

  • Songs not playing on iPod but they do on iTunes

I recently bought a iPod and have been transfering songs that were already on my computer to my iPod. I went to play one album and it just skipped through all the tracks and wouldn't play them. On other albums only some of the songs have been put on iPod/iTunes and I can't work out why. The albums that I'm trying to put on are not from iTunes store but some of them work and others don't.
Any ideas how to get round this problem?

I have experienced a similar problem and was able to isolate the situation to a group of MP3 format songs that I imported into my iTunes library from CD several years ago. They were stored as MP3 format rather than the M4A format that is currently used.
The problem seems to have developed recently on iPod classic with the last release of firmware.
Several suggestions were tried to fix the problem (which did not work for me). Things tried that did NOT work - reset ID3 tags, MP3 validator, turning off artwork, the back light trick, etc.
I finally reripped the music into my iTunes library and resynched my iPod classics and life is wonderful again on the iPod classic.

  • Some songs not playing on iPod in iPhone

I've had about 4 iPhones over the past few years and before that i had a second generation iPod nano. Over this period of time, I purchased a lot of music thru iTunes either on my computer or thru the one in iPhone. I then transferred music over from each iPhone to the new one. Usually this has worked fine, however since I upgrade to 4S, I've noticed that songs I have purchased thru iTunes on past iPhones (or the old iPod) no longer play. Although when just testing out different ones now I notice some old ones will play and others won't. I'm not sure if it's just a random issue or not. If I have it on shuffle and it comes to one of those songs, it either stops, or oddly enough, it will start playing a different song but still show the other song's album cover and information. If I play a song individually and it doesn't work, it will either just do nothing or it will skip to the next song immediately. I can't quite figure out what's happening with this but I'm guessing it has to be a migration issue.
Has anyone else experienced this and know how I can fix it? Is it just a matter of authorizing something within iTunes or iPhone?
    Please let me know. Thanks!
    -Pooja

This is actually happenening on my non-itunes bought songs...basically songs that got converted from another source...perhaps from my old MP3 player from Sony...the problem is, they used to work on my ipod, and now they don't. I did try resetting the ipod, but that didn't seem to help.

  • There's a song not on my iPod, but it says there is.

Okay, so my iPod says i have the song "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light em up)"(ps I mean in iTunes under iPod, On This iPod.), but when i go on my iPod and go to the album its not there. I've tried to delete the album and then move it back, but nothings working. all the other songs in the album are there just not this one. Please assist me any way you can.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Song Not Compatible With ipod

When I upload my library to my ipod mini, it says that some songs are not compatible with my ipod. I don't understand why because they're mp3 files and the others work. What is going on and how can i fix it or how do I make my entire library compatible (aka. change format?)?

Try & import them into iTunes.
This should convert them to AAC.

  • Songs not playing on iPod Nano 4G

I ripped some songs from my CD collection to my Mac and then transferred them to my nano. I can listen to most of my songs on the iPod just fine but about 22 songs out of 600, I get 0:00 and it pauses there for a few seconds and then moves on to the next song. I tried removing those songs and adding them again but it didn't work. Does anyone have a fix for this?

    1. Yes, the songs play fine in iTunes.
    2. The start and stop times were correct as well
    3. MP3
    4. They all came from the same CD's
    5. Yes, the correctly song length is showing
    6. I did remove the song from my iPod. Then I grabbed the songs from my iTunes library and moved them back onto the iPod.
Those were all pretty good suggestions I didn't think to check but I have now. Any other ideas would be useful. I guess I could restore my iPod because I know I don't have a ton on there and what I do, I have saved in a playlist so I can restore it back pretty easily. I might lose my Nike+ data but I have that online.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Same Apple ID, but some purchased songs not shown in history.

I've had the same Apple ID since I bought my first song on iTunes in the early 2000s.  However, I've changed the email address associated with it several times.  My iTunes library contains songs that show one of my past emails, but I only have to authroize the computer with my -one- Apple ID (as expected, since the underlying ID has never changed).  This is the same when authroizing songs to play on my iPhone.  It may ask for one of my old addresses, but I'll just correct the address to the current one and it works perfectly.
I thought about redownloading songs so that they have the current email address associated with them.  However, after a cursory review of my past purchase history I'm finding many songs that I currently own that do not show up.  What is interesting is that the purchase history includes many songs, movies, and tv shows that I know I purchased when I used one of the many different email addresses (again, the same Apple ID).
Why would some (maybe TONS, I haven't looked thoroughly) of my songs be missing from the purchase history in order to redownload them?

You haven't changed countries since buying them (content is tied to the country as well as the account), they are still in your country's store (content providers occasionally remove their items ; if they are no longer in your store then they won't be redownloadable), and they aren't hidden : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919 ?
But if it's the same account then it should automatically pick up the current version of the account in your library, so a previous email address shouldn't show on them. You've tried logging out of your account via the Store > Sign Out menu option and then signed back in to see that gets them all to show the correct id on them ?
