Songs on iPhone playlist completely different from playlist in iTunes

I have a smart playlist "Most Played." It's pretty simple: Limited to 50 items selected by most often played. Works fine in iTunes, however the playlist on my phone contains 50 completely different songs in no order that I can make any sense of. In fact, they seem to be songs that I rarely listen to. I've tried altering the playlist, and even deleting the playlist and recreating it, but it still picks the same obscure 50 songs. Why would a playlist on the iPhone be different from the same playlist on iTunes?

I have the exact same problem. My "Most often Played" playlist which appears fine in iTunes and fine when viewing the list in iTunes (but on my iPhone) when I disconnect from the computer this playlist is full of songs I have listened to a couple of times and basically don't care for. I've tried renaming the playlist thinking it had something to do with the 'M.O.P.' naming scheme. I've deleted the entire contents of the playlist and re-synced, but nothing seems to change these weird songs from appearing in my most often played list. I noticed this after the 3.1 update, but can't be completely sure when it started. This is annoying. My plain old iPod maintains the library much better than the iPhone iPod. Any suggestions? Seems like every time we want the iPhone to act like an iPod, we have to do a bunch of tricks to get it to sort of work. Personally I blame it on windows compatibility, the more compatible Apple makes their stuff with windows, the less reliable and kludgy their stuff gets. (Sorry didn't mean to blame Windows, just frustrated.)

  • A few of my playlists completely disappeared from itunes.

I have all of my devices (my iPad, my iPhone, my kids' iPod Touches and my wife's iPhone) set up to sync wirelessly when connected to wifi.  Just yesterday, all of my wife's playlists disappeared from her iPhone.  When I went onto to iTunes, they were completely gone as if they had been deleted.  She didn't delete them (she never goes onto iTunes)  Any thoughts on how this could have happened?  None of the other playlists are missing.  Only the ones synced to her phone.  Also, this is not a new phone.  It is my old one, and I never had an issue with it.

Perhaps what happened is that your kids may have (accidentally) deleted those particular playlists on their devices, and that deletion then cascaded through your sync setup to all your other devices.
Something similar happened to me, in that our little guys were playing with one of our iPod nanos and deleted a couple of playlists. When I synced (via cable) that device with my computer, those playlists were wiped from my iTunes library, and then via iTunes Match, also instantaneously deleted on *all* of our family computers and iPhones! So not only were those playlists gone, but I didn't even have evidence of their existence from which I could manually re-create them.
Automatic syncing (whether via Match, or your wi-fi setup) is really great, although it does permit accidental deletions from causing some hard-to-fix, hard-to-identify damage to your music library.
That's just my suggestion, although I certainly don't want to impugn your good kids! :-)

  • My iTunes and iPhone have completely different music libraries, how do I get them together?

My iTunes music library and iPhone4 songs are completely different.  How do I get the songs I've purchased on my phone into my iTunes library without wiping something out?

    File>Transfer Purchases
How did you get different content?
The iphone is designed to mirror the selected content of your computer.  It is not a storage device.

  • I cannot get my playlists to sync from iPod to iTunes.

A month or so ago I got a new PC and I just got around to syncing my iPod.  The playlists that I had on my old PC are still in my iPod.  But the playlists do not show up on iTunes on my new computer.  I have rebooted my iPod, restarted my computer, tried updating iTunes (but it was already up to date) and they still do not show up.
Ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Lauren

You're using a rule like Plays - is not - 0  OR  Plays - is - 0.  What's an example of a Smart Playlist that needs that rule (for songs)?  I guess a Smart Playlists that only has newly added songs...
NOTE:  If your old PC is still accessible, with its iTunes library intact, you can transfer your complete iTunes folder (after consolidating all of your iTunes data).  Then, your iTunes library on the new computer will be the SAME iTunes library, with all supporting data, such as playcount, playlists, ratings...

  • HT201365 how do i change the passcode for using my ipad that i created when installing find my iphone. the is different from my apple id and password

how do i change the passcode for using my ipad which i created when i set up findmyiphone.  this is different from my apple id and password

On both your devices go to Settings>iCloud, then scroll down and click "Delete Account". You can then sign back in using your updated details.
Note: "Delete Account" will not delete data from iCloud, it will simply remove the account from your device.

  • I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone. The iPhone only accepts transfers from the original iTunes PC.

I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone 4S. The iPhone will only accept music transfers from the original iTunes PC. I have come to understand that an iPhone can have only one "daddy" iTunes PC, but have not been able to find out how to change the "daddy". I have done a backup of the iPhone, and a "Restore to Original Settings". Then I restored the content using the new iTunes PC. My Apps and contacts, etc. are back on the iPhone, but it still won't accept music from the new iTunes PC.

What happens when you try to sync the iphone to the new computer?

  • I had my iTunes on my computer wiped and I have a song that is on my iPhone that is different from the original. Is there any way I can get that version of the song from my phone to my computer?

I don't understand why I can see the content on my iPhone on my computer and yet not transfer it over.
If you can find me the faster version of Runaway by Ed Sheeran, that would work too. The normal song is like 3:25 and is slower and my version is 3:00 exactly.

Your friend can get a new Apple Id for themselves, and create a different account on one of the laptops. Then put all their music in a separate iTunes library, and sync the phone to that particular library.
This will keep there music separate from your library and their brother's library.
Just make another User on your computer for your friend to store their music in.

  • How do you get songs on iphone that you deleted from itunes?

When I had a older version of itunes, I deleted a few songs. With the new version of itunes, they are back in the library. After a couple of years, I want to listen to these songs on my phone. Since they are in my itunes, can I get them back on my iphone and ipod?

Sync the iGadget with the computer, configuring iTunes to upload all the tunes. Or manually select & transfer the songs from the iTunes local storage to the phone.

  • IPhone 4 completely inaccessible from Windows 7 machine

    Greetings,
I have problem with my iPhone 4. As the title suggests I am unable to access my iPhone 4 (or iPod touch) in any way using my Windows 7 64 bit Ultamite service pack 1  based machine. The system doesn't: recognize that it is connected via any of my USB ports with any combination of 3 different iPod/iPhone connection cables, let me browse through images or the like in windows explorer or show that it is mounted, or charge the iPhone/Touch. I have researched multiple possible reasons for this. I have tested various installs of different iTunes versions, uninstalling each time using the suggested method in the apple support page. I have also tried the unplug, take a picture, look for it as a image device in devicemgmt, but that did not work either.
I have narrowed down my problem I believe to the "apple mobile device usb driver" in device management (devmgmt.msc). It remains missing throughout every install of iTunes I have tried. All the other components of a iTunes install appear (Apple application support, mobile device support, software update, iTunes, and Bonjour). To see if it affected the install I disabled my antivirus, and checked for all possible updates to my OS, and none of these have helped. In the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers directory I have usbaapl64.cat, usbaapl64.inf, usbaapl64.sys, and usbaaplrc.dll which I have seen others ask about previously.
I'm just really at a loss. A lot of the suggestions I have found while looking up information has suggested updating the driver in device management, but there isn't even a driver there named "apple usb device driver" or "Usb mass storage device" as suggested in a apple.support page I'm reading.
I know that this program is local to my computer because I have plugged both devices into an iMac running OSX 10.6 and they both connected to itunes and charged. Both are updated to the latest iOS update. Both charge perfectly when connected to the wall through a usb-to-outlet charger.
I am not aware of an exact date where it stopped working. In the past few days I have installed a new DVD-disk drive to my pc, but I do not know how that would affect the usb connection of i-devices like this, or if the devices stopped working before that time as I didn't connect my devices to my computer for about a week prior to installation.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how to fix this problem?
Any help would be greatly appriciated. I've spent way to much time on this. I'll post any more information/system logs that anyone needs as it is asked for.
Thank you very much for your time

All fine here on the OS mentioned above.
If you have already tried as detailed in the notes below
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/itunes/#section_1
Specially re-installing iTunes, which is quite elaborate and sequenced steps to be followed. Were you able to backup these devices in iMac ?
    Try un-installing all USB devices.

  • Having an iphone and 2 different ipods on same itunes, syncing iphone

Is there anyway that there can be 2 itunes programs on 1 computer? The reason i ask, is that its a pain to sync the iphone after syncing an ipod. To sync the ipod you just select everything in the library. With the iphone's lesser memory you have to select, basically, one song at a time. This is a huge pain to do with nearly 6000 songs. Having 2 itunes programs that maintain to seperate library lists but used only 1 library would make syning much more painless. If there is a current way of doing this could someone let me know. Thanks.

My first suggestion would be that you read the users guides for both iTunes and the iPhone and/or search help for "playlists". You can easily make custom playlists for each device that you synch to the same copy of iTunes. The online video tutorials on iPhone support will also show you how to do this.
When your iPod, or iPhone, are connected to the computer, click on that "device" in the left hand column and you can select what you want synched from the "options" at the bottom of the page, and from any of the "tabbed" categories noted at the top of the window.
My kids synch two iPods, and two iPhones, to iTunes on one computer. They each have separate playlists for their individual iPods, as well as their individual iPhones. Another benefit of this arrangement is that they freely "share" their music, videos, and podcasts with each other (of course...it's really MY music as I paid for all of it.)

  • Greyed out songs on iPhone and not visible at all in iTunes

I have recently had to replace my iphone due to the microphone breaking, when restoring my new iphone and attempting to transfer all my music onto it, I noticed it asking me to sign in to the apple store with an email address I have never used or recognised.
The majority of my music is not sourced from itunes and I now realise that in my collection I have a few music files that were originally bought and connected to somebody elses apple ID. It is asking me to sign in to these ID's when trying to sync the songs, the problem being they are not my apple ID's and I don't know the passwords so it is impossible. So the songs appear greyed out on my iphone (un playable, can't edit/delete etc) and don't appear in the music tab of my iphone at all in itunes.
At the same time of my iphone replacement I have also bought a macbook air. To fix the above problem I thought I would be able to start fresh with a brand new itunes library on my macbook. I ripped a few cd's and started a new library, (it warned me that I would have to erase the current library and start again + authorize the macbook) but the greyed out songs still appear and every time i sync my iphone it asks me to sign in to the other apple ID's connected with the individual songs.
How do I remove these files completely?
    Thanks for your help.

I did not do any updates on my iphone 4.  Lo and behold, suddenly these circles with dots appeared next to some songs on the ipod.  The ipod would speed scroll through them, and then grey them out.  Like for you, I could not play them anymore.  So I deleted all the songs on the ipod, and reloaded them from my iTunes.  Now, the greyed songs are all visible, with duplicate new loads in black.  What the h**k is this?  How do I get rid of all the songs that have been deleted but still are all listed in grey?

  • Got a new iphone4s but my laptop is broken, can i update my new iphone on a different laptop using my itunes account? Can I transfer my itunes onto a different laptop without using my broken laptop?

Hi, yesterday I lost my iphone4s and a replacement is arriving today.  Unfortunately my laptop also decided to break yesterday and I cant turn it on.  Is there any way when my new phone arrives I can use my freinds laptop to access my itunes and update my phone from his laptop without using my own laptop?

You can only redownload past purchases on your iTunes:
Go to the iTunes Store and select "Purchased" from the Quick Links side bar on the right. Go through all the tabs to download again for free
