Songs on Ipod won't copy to Library

Okay, I guess this is kind of a dumb question, but why won't the songs on my mini copy to my library on Itunes? It works the other way around. I don't get it. Please help. I just formatted my computer and I need to put my songs back on it!

  • Transferring songs from iPod to a second iTunes library on another computer

I have iPod Nano. My computer at home has an Itunes library. So does my computer at work. Can I transfer songs that I purchased at home onto my computer at work? If so, How? At work, I have tried to drag the songs that are listed under my iPod Music to my iTunes library, but it doesn't work.

  • Please help! My iPod won't update its library.

A few days ago a friend tried to play my iPod on her computer and accidentally erased my library. Since then, whenever I try to update my iPod to contain my iTunes library, the message "Attempting to copy the disk failed. An unknown error occurred (-69)." appears and I have not been able to fix it even though all my systems are updated and I have even tried using the iPod updater to restore my iPod to factory settings. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions because my last option at this point would be to send it in or begin saving up for a more recent version.

  • My iPod won't copy a song because it says the file can not be converted. what do I do to fix this?

I just bought a new song on iTunes, and when I go to sync my iPod, it says it's copying the song, and then a box pops up that says
' iTunes could not copy "Song name" because the file could not be converted.'
What do I do to fix it? Help!

Have the same problem since the last 2 updates of Itunes.
I think it doesn't have anything to do with the Ipod, because Itunes can't "Convert" or "Create ALAC" from the files that are creating the problem.
Also, when you delete every library files and re-import your .ALAC, it's not always the same files that are generating this problem.
Starting to feel like stupid to have re-imported almost all my CDs into .ALAC (a proprietary file type depending on Itunes) instead of importing them to open source FLAC  ....
The idea was that Ipod convert anything to 256kbps seemed like a good idea ...

  • Songs from my iPod won't copy to my new computer. PLEASE HELP.

I just purchased a new computer and i'm trying to transfer my music files from my iPod on to my new computer. I have already made it so i manually update the ipod and and i can select the songs. I have also already made it so the files from my iPod will be added to my iTunes music folder. But when i click consolidate to copy the songs into the iTunes music folder nothing happens, I get a message verifying that i want to consolidate, and even when i click "consolidate". Nothing happens, I have tried numerous times but nothing ever happens. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I do not believe, no matter how your ipod is set up, that iTunes will allow you to copy off the iPod. However, there are many programs that will copy the songs off your iPod and into iTunes. YOu can either search google for a "ipod ripper" or search the threads for a topic that says getting songs of your ipod. Hope this helps. I personally use a software called ipod accesss, which has a mac verion as well i believe. Hope this helps...

  • Transfering songs from ipod to a new itunes library

my dad accidently deleted my itunes library and i dont know how to transfer the songs from my ipod to a new library without deleting the songs off my ipod. how do you transfer the songs from your ipod to the itunes library with the songs that were not purchased from itunes?

1). If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that way you can continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content only from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • Moving songs from Ipod to newly installed Itunes library

The hard drive on my old computer died, so after I got a new laptop, I reinstalled Itunes from the CD I got with my nano, and then upgraded it to the latest version.
However it will not let me move music stored on my ipod into my library (which aside from a couple of recovered albums is empty as I lost all the music stored there) so I have the music stored on my Ipod and none of it in my Library.
I have tried copy and pasting and drag and dropping the songs, but the paste is greyed out and I get a not allowed circle when trying to drop into lib. Am I missing something really obvious?
    Any help would be great!

  • Songs in Ipod but not in itunes library. no option to back up so i can restore. Will someone please help me?

I dragged the songs into my itunes library, but when i looked, they weren't in there. so i looked at my ipod and the songs i downloaded were on it! i dont know how either! i tried to back up my downloaded songs so i could restore it to see if that would help, but there wasn't an option for me to back up my ipod when i right clicked on it. i looked atsome of the other forums about the "AppData" solution. it said to delete the corrupted file if there was one, but i dont know what to look for. can someone please help me? this is driving me crazy.

  • Trying to put songs from ipod into pc's itunes library

    hi all,
im trying to put the songs from my ipod onto my computer at work...a pc is this even possible? the computer has itunes on it, i log into my itunes account, and it recognizes my ipod (shows up under the device thing). i can see all my songs including ones ive purchased from itunes, but they are all a light gray color and i cannot select and play or anything. not even the ones bought from itunes!...all while logged in and "authorizing" the computer. can someone help? the farthest i get is itunes warning me that all songs on my ipod will be replaced with whats in the computers itunes library which is nothing.
looking forward to hearing from you guys

You've posted this in the "Mac OS X Technologies > iSync" forum.
iSync has nothing at all to do with iPods or Windows.

  • Songs in folder won't import into library unless done manually

I have 8K songs and when i drag or import the entire iTunes music folder into the window or command-O, most of the songs are not recorded in the library that iTunes builds. It has never done that before. All the files are correct formats, including ones bought from the iTunes store. I've tried all sorts of things... any ideas?

A lot of my music came from my ex boyfriend who put them in my laptop via an external harddrive after we broke up (We had been sharing a computer/music before then). Also, a lot of my music came from CDs that I ripped directly into my computer, but I converted all of those to MP3s, and most of them are working. The rest of my music came from soulseek.
The weird thing is that I cant find any pattern to the songs that won't add to my library. For example, I have a folder called "Cake - Comfort Eagle" which contains all the songs from the comfort eagle album. They were all downloaded at the same time, have the same file extensions, are all MP3s, and are in the same folder, but only the first 4 songs of that album will add into my library. I tried adding the rest of the songs from that album individually, but they won't work. I can listen to all the songs just fine in winamp, so i dont think the files are corrupted or anything.

  • IPod won't sync, iTunes Library is supposedly "Damaged"

    Ok, here's the story.
I've been using iTunes for about two years now. Recent, I kept getting these notices while it was opening saying stuff to the tone of "itunes library is damaged. Loading "iTunes Library (Damaged)1" and so on. Then I would open itues, and nearly all of my ~5000 songs would be gone from the program (but still on my computer.)
Fast forward to now. I am trying to sync my new 60gb iPod video with iTunes, and it says that there is an error in the software and to re-install iTunes. I've tried this twice now, and it still isn't working. Help. ><
    thanks

okay, let's start by trying to get the usual suspects off the table:
iPod for Windows: Fast user switching in Windows XP is not supported
iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes
(another possibility to check on prior to a repair install of Windows, though, so check back in prior to attempting that.)

  • Sorting songs on iPod mini like in iTunes library

Can the library on my iPod mini be sorted by Sort Name like my iTunes library can? If so, how?

No, the sort options info does not carry over to the iPod.
The iPod sorts by album/artist only.

  • Certain Songs in iPOD won't play!

OK I have a 20GB iPOD that I got in December of 2004, From then until now I only burned my CD's onto it and never had any problems. For Christmas I got a $25 iTUNES gift card and used it to buy 25 songs to put onto my iPOD. The songs played just fine on my iPOD until a few days ago,now when I go to play them in my iPOD it just skips over them and doesn't play, like the song isn't even there. When I plug the iPOD into my computer and open it up into iTUNES the songs that I purchased play just fine. Has anyone else had this problem? Any Solutions or Input? Thank You for reading

  • New 60GB iPod won't update my Library of Music

    Hello
Just purchased a new 60gb iPod with video, hooked it up to my eMac via the very slow USB cable (provided). The iPod mounts onto my desktop, then after just 2 song imports, I get the following error msg, despite me not touching the iPod or cable:
"DEVICE REMOVAL: The device you removed was not properly put away. Data might have been lost or damaged. Before you unplug your device, you must first select its icon in the Finder and choose Eject from the File menu."
I tried another cable but got the same error. I have over 16gb of music to load onto my new iPod, any thoughts how to resolve the issue. My old 2nd generation iPod is looking very attractive at the moment.
    Thanks!
NOTE: I've updated my iTunes to the latest version.
    eMac (combo), 12-inch PowerBook G4; 60gb iPod 5th gen   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

You cable isn't slow but your USB ports are. The eMac has USB 1.1 ports, USB 2 which is considerably faster is recommended for the iPod Video.
    Mac System Requirements
    • Built-in USB port (USB 2.0 recommended)
    • Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later
    • iTunes 6 (included) or later

  • New ipod won't make a library on  my Windows ME comp.

what should i do to get it to work?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Windows Me? The iPod is not officially supported on Windows Me. Apple's requirements for iPod are Windows XP or Windows 2000 SP4.
There are third party programs like Xplay, Anapod which allows your iPod to work with Windows Me. The latest version of Winamp (5.21) also supports iPod directly and it should run on Windows Me.
You can try them if you insist on using Windows Me. The best way is to upgrade to Windows XP or use another PC with Windows XP, of course.
