Songs on itunes skip

I have a windows pc with xp service pack 2. Whenever I'm listening to songs on itunes, the first 10 seconds of each song skip horribly. It seems once the song is 10 seconds into it's time, it begins to play normally.
has anyone else experienced this?

  • Certain songs in iTunes skip to the next song before the song ends

I purchased Incubus and Weezer songs a while ago, and when trying to listen to the entire songs with iTunes for Windows Vista, the songs skip to a different song/artist for some reason before they end. I then played at least one of the songs on my iPad, where they are already in my iTunes, and did not experience that particular problem for some reason.
Also, I don't know if it matters, but I almost always use shuffle mode when listening to music in iTunes.

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the problem tracks from your iTunes library, close and then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • My newly purchased songs from itunes skip on my imovie.... Help please!

The music I have on itunes from my ipod play just fine, but when I purchase a new song from itunes and try to add it, the playback skips (video also). I'm trying to make a small video from wedding photos. Everything is finished except the audio. I would use other music except I don't have wedding appropriate songs... Please help if you can. Clearly I don't know what I'm doing.

    Hi Ballfanjt and welcome!
It's all to do with DRM copy protection. In order for your audio from iTunes to work correctly in iMovie, you need to burn the track/s to a CD, then re-import from that CD into iTunes, save as an AIFF file, then they will import perfectly into iMovie.

  • Songs on iTunes skipping/jumping

using MacBook Pro os x mavericks
I have had this issue a few times now, I have purchased new CDs and came home to import them to my iTunes library straight away. They import perfectly fine but as soon as they're finished importing to library, I go play the album and a few of the songs skip or jump (like when you play a scratched cd in a CD player)
though the cds are not scratched.
I am using the external USB super drive to import as the MacBook has no cd slot built in, I thought maybe I was bumping or moving the super drive while the disk was importing and  this may be effecting songs being imported properly so I deleted the albums and imported again making sure the external super drive was not moved but there is still 1 or 2 songs playing up.
is anyone else having this issue or know what it is? Thank you

I have a rather large library on a WD external drive. The drive itself is fairly new and doesn't seem to have any other issues. I'm on iTunes 12.1.2 and OSX 10.10.3 on a Retina iMac.
This is happening to me as well. I imported a bunch of albums that came as zip files from download cards that are included with records, and they all skip to the end of each track at the 2:37 mark.  I typically listen on other devices using iTunes Match, but when I went straight to the source, I noticed the skipping. So, I can't really say how long it's been happening. The uploaded batch prior to the one that caught my notice also skips at the same point. The files play fine in Quicktime.
All the content in the File tab of the songs seems normal. A standard encoding was used (by the manufacturer), the track length listed is accurate, and the start and stop times are were not altered. Again, these are audio files coming directly from the record labels via their download cards. And, they are different labels - Hardly Art (aka Subpop), Merge, and In The Red Records. All skipping at 2:37.
When I attempt to convert the files to AAC, the generated files are 2:37 in length - unless of course, the track is less than that length to begin with. Here's a screenshot showing the conversion in action along with another showing the original files.
    Original:
Mid-conversion (note they're all being converted to 2:37 in length):

  • Playback of songs on iTunes "skips" or "stutters"....Help!

When I'm playing my iTunes, in between songs more often than not, the beginning of the next song will skip or stutter for some time, maybe up to five seconds or so.
What is the cause of this? And how can I fix it?
    Thanks in advance...
I have a Dell Dimension 4500 with Windows XP and the latest version of iTunes.

Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm having the same problem.

  • Why does iTunes Match download songs that I skip?

I haven't seen this question posted yet, but feel free to direct me to any pertinent posts.
I've been using iTunes Match for the last couple days, and all in all I really enjoy the service. There is one issue that I've yet to see addressed on these boards yet though; why is iTunes Match downloading songs that I skip? I listen to all my music in random, so occasionally there will be a song I just don't want to hear at the moment. I assumed that if I don't listen to a song completely that it would not be downloaded to my device. Not true apparently. I was able to use about half a gig of data in a few hours just by skipping songs. Every song that was skipped, even if I didn't hear a single second of it, was downloaded (at an average size of 5-8 MB). I sincerely hope this is just a bug and not a 'feature'.
Any insight on this would be appreciated.

I have noticed this too. I filled up my phone VERY fast yesterday.
and deleting is not easy, lots of left swipe DELETE action, took a while.

  • HT1725 When I download a song from iTunes into my library, it often says it has downloaded, charges me for it, and on the song in my library shows the full playing time. However, when I play the song, at around halfway through it skips to the next song?

    i'm just wondering:
    a) why it does this
and b) how to stop it doing this, because it still charges me for the song :/

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • Songs end prematurely, skip to next track in iTunes 10.6.3

I wanted to see if other iTunes users are having this issue. I'm using iTunes 10.6.3 (the latest version), and both my wife and I are seeing the same behavior in our iTunes libraries with songs we've either purchased from the iTunes Store or that we've ripped from CDs. It doesn't seem to matter which.
The problem is a track will play and then stop abruptly before it's full length has played, and iTunes will then skip to the next track. This happened to me today with a new album I just purchased from the iTunes Store. 2 of the 13 tracks behaved this way. For example, if I'm playing a song that's 5:45 in length, iTunes will stop playing at 5:02 and jump to the next track.
It also just happened on an album I downloaded from the iTunes cloud. I'd purchased it a couple years ago from the iTunes Store. I played the album today and again, one track stopped short of its true length, and iTunes skipped to the next track.
So I guess the good news is it doesn't appear to a problem with corrupted tracks or anything. It points to a problem the iTunes application itself.
If anyone has experienced the same problem, please share what you know. Thanks in advance.

On the main iTunes screen, click on Purchased. That'll give you a list of your songs & albums stored on the cloud. The song(s) you've deleted should be available for download again (they'll have the cloud icon next to them). If not, sign out of iTunes and then sign back in again and go back through the same steps mentioned above. Hope this helps.

  • ITunes skips a song. It tells me, "This computer is not authorized to play this song. Would you like to authorize it?" So I enter my password. Then it tells me, "This computer is already authorized." But when I try to play it, it's still "not authorized".

If you purchased the song from the iTunes Store go to your purchase history and re-download it from there. You will not be charged again.

  • IOS 7.0.2 on iPhone 4S iTunes skips my songs.

I updated to 7.0.2 today and when I play a number of songs on iTunes on my iPhone 4S, they're all skipped.  Sometimes entire playlists skip.  When I go to my songs, and just start playing all of them, it skips the first 63 before it starts playing one.  I checked iTunes on my MacBook Pro and all the songs play fine so it's not the files.  I've re-synched my entire music library and the songs are still skipping.  Anyone have any suggestions?

I was able to resolve my own issue by completely wiping my iPhone and starting over with the iOS 7 installation.  However this time I told it to set my device up as a new phone.  Once I was done with the initial setup, I connected to my Macbook Pro and iTunes, I then elected to "restore" my iPhone.  I restored from the last backup of iOS 7.0 that I had and this time, when it readded all my music, everything played as expected.  I hope this helps someone else.

  • New songs I add to iTunes skip to the next song half-way through

Whenever I import new music that I have downloaded, iTunes skips to the next track half-way through. I don't have this problem with other songs, or when I transfer the songs to my iPhone or iPad. Does anyone know why this may be happening?

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those songs and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

  • Skipping songs on itunes

Hello! I have a Dell Latitude D600. I have had itunes for Windows for nearly a year and had no problems. Then a month ago, my hard drive crashed and was replaced. I have reinstalled most of the programs that were lost, including itunes.
Now, however, the itunes songs (doesn't matter if I bought them from the itunes store or if I downloaded them from a CD) skip if have anything else running other than a single webpage. This is very new, as I used to be able to run lots of things without itunes skipping.
Memory shouldn't be the problem. I actually just updated my RAM a month before the hard drive crashed. I look on CPU usage on Windows Task Manager, and I am rarely using more than 20% of the CPU. Itunes is the most recent version available.
Is there some setting on my computer that I need to fix?
    Thank you!

The most likely cause of this would be on-demand virus scanning. I've had to set an exception in F-Secure on my PC to leave my 220 GB of FLAC files alone to solve this problem. If you have a large music library, I would look into the settings for your virus scanner and see if it helps to exclude files with the relevant extensions (MP3, M4A, M4P, etc.).
If you schedule or manually carry out virus scans on your PC, then just make sure that you enable your virus scanner to scan all files.

  • TS3217 When I try to skip one song on my ipone, it skips through several. The songs that are skipped can be played on the same iphone if I go into my itunes and select that song. So this tells me that the song can be played, therefore, it is not the song.

When I try to skip through a song on my iPhone, it skips through several songs. The songs that are skipped can be played on the same iphone (when I go into to itunes library on my phone), so I know that it's not the song. I have the latest softeware downloaded on both my iphone and itunes. In fact, this only recently started occuring when I reconnected my iphone to my laptop about a month ago to install the new updates on itunes.
I also have an itouch and an ipod, both of which have been updated at the same time as my iphone and they do not skip through songs.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
