Songs Purchased on iPod Touch WiFi iTunes Store Will not Sync Back to PC

I bought a few songs on the WiFi iTunes store on my iPod Touch today. When I connect the iPod to the computer, it syncs as normal, but the songs I bought are not transferring over. I tried right clicking on the iPod section and pressed "Transfer Purchases" but still nothing happened. The songs are still on the iPod, the computer is just for some reason not seeing them.
Help?

When Apple designed the first iPod, they decided to screw people over by making sure the iPod could not be used as a mobile storage/transfer device. To summarize, Apple made it so that an iPod with a lot of music can't transfer its music to an empty iTunes library as to keep people from getting music for free. (Obviously, Limewire was not created at that time.)

I restored my ipod touch however the apps will not sync.  I tried to re-download but I changed my apple id as my old id is no longer a valid email address.  Any ideas out there please?

It might be logical to someone, but not to me. I agree it's a pain.
How did you change your Apple ID? Creating a new one is not what you want to do, but if you changed the ID associated with your purchases then that might have worked. You would need to sign in with the Apple ID on both your iPod Touch as well as in iTunes. I'm not sure how you changed it but clearly they need to match.
If it's just your password that is not getting recognized reset it here: http://iforgot.apple.com/
It will send an email confirmation to the email address associated with that Apple ID. The email address you elect to use might not look anything like your Apple ID. If you don't appear to get an email check your spam filter.

  • IPod touch 3G - activation required, will not sync properly, freezes up windows 7

    Hi,
I am having a lot of trouble with my iPod touch 3G.
I had not synced my iPhone 4 and my iPod touch for about a month as I was re-inputting my music into iTunes - I didn't want to sync them when not all the music I wanted would be synced onto them. Prior to syncing the devices, one day my iPod randomly displayed the "activation required" notification and the "connect to iTunes" screen. Neither my iPod nor my iPhone is jail broken, so this cannot be the cause of the deactivation. All I use my iPod for is plugging into my stereo system.
Regardless, I had finally managed to sort through all my music and had managed to sync my iPhone with no hitches. However, I ran into various issues with the iPod. A pop-up in iTunes said that it detect the device but could read it and that I would need to restore my iPod. So I did so (restored to the back-up). However, not even a third of the way into the restore everything just seemed to stop. My screen went black with only the mouse flickering. I restarted my computer and tried restoring it again (again to the back-up). It got further this time and actually managed to sync some songs (around 70 out of 850). However, a pop-up appeared saying that iTunes could not write from the song or disk. So I unplugged my iPod and plugged it back in and it immediately slowed down my computer. Chrome would not respond, Shockwave crashed, iTunes would not respond, etc.
Anyways, over the past couple days I have tried restoring the iPod (to factory settings) and that seems to have worked. I no longer have the constant "activation required" notification. iTunes seems to be having trouble syncing though. It will get a couple more songs synched and then display another pop-up saying that it could not write from the song files and then the synching process just gets stuck. The iPod no longer displays the synching icon, but iTunes remains stuck on "finishing sync".
(The problem cannot be with the songs as they sync perfectly fine to my iPhone).
On my iPod it shows all the songs which are/should be synched onto it. The synched songs appear in black (like normal) however, the majority of my songs are in a light grey and cannot be selected or played (basically it has the information about the song, but not the actual file itself). I can also use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. They are both greyed-out and say "No Wi-Fi" or "Unavailable" respectively.
Just as a note, I am on Windows 7 and have McAfee Antivirus Plus. I know that some people have some issues due to the firewall but I unsure as to how this could be the cause when my iPhone syncs perfectly well under the same conditions. I have iTunes 10.7.0.21 and my iPod is running on 5.1.1. If you need any additional information please ask!
If someone could please help, I would be extremely grateful! I'm at my wits end.
    Thanks!

See if disabling the antivirus and firewall resolves the problem.

  • Movie Purchased From iTunes Store Will Not Sync

I purchased Cars from the iTues Store on Feb 4th in preperation for the TV release. I just hooked up my new TV yesterday and was sadly disapointed that cars will not sync to the TV. I get an error message that reads, "Cars cannot be coppied to Apple TV because it cannot be played in this Apple TV." What Gives? I am afraid to buy more movies from the iTunes Store for fear that they will not work. Is this something I can resolve or did I just loose my money?
    iBook 1.42 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I would be nervous doing this as a test. I have recently reformatted my machine and when trying to play my purchased tracks, I got alerts saying that I had used another slot of my allowed 5 devices. This puts me at 5 now for most of my music. I wold be really mad if I had to re-download all my music over again. As it stands now one more reformat or an iPod Upgrade and I am out of luck!
Apple if your listening, 5 authorized uses is not enough!
(this is a whole other topic)
I guess I am going to give up on this topic. Thanks for the help those that tried to help. I guess it was not meant to be. sigh

  • IPod Touch, 16GB, Generation 5, will not sync with my computer?

I purchased an iPod Touch, 16GB, Generation 5 from Wal-Mart. I've tried everything from re-installing iTunes to rebooting the computer and iPod. However, even after clicking Trust, it won't fully trust my computer as well as iTunes isn't recognizing it. For reference, I'm using a Windows 8, Dell PC, and iTunes is fully up to date.
It will download music from the store on the device itself, and iTunes recognizes when the purchases are made on the device, but it still won't sync it.

    Try:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

  • Songs that I recently added to my iTunes (not purchased from iTunes store) will not sync with my iPod touch 4th generation. How can I fix this?

I typically download my music directly from youtube. I have never had any issue when it came to putting it on my ipod touch (4th generation). However, today, I downloaded a couple of songs, added them to my iTunes (11.1.4). When I hit "sync" it said at the top that it was "Synching iPod: Steps 1of 3." It went through these steps incredibly quickly, a matter of seconds really, and I went to check it they had synced. They had not. I tried this several times before uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. Even with the re-install, it does not work. I am wondering if it is because these songs were not downloaded directly from the iTunes store. i tried downloading a song from the iTunes store and it is currently in my iPod, so I know that it is able to sync music.  I just started using this version of iTunes as I just installed it on the laptop I just bought (windows 8).

Was the iPod setup via iTunes on this computer?
    Setup via wifi?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

  • Items that I brought from the itunes store will not sync to my ipod, and I can't download them on my ipod.  What do I do?

I used to be able to download the items from the itunes store on my ipod, but that isn't an option anymore. I'm not sure how to get the items on my ipod.

Because you can set Restrictions on age/content and one song might be age restricted.
What happens when you try to redownload directly to the iPod by
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • My ipod touch 4g ios 5 will not sync auto with itunes

I recently downloaded ios 5 to my ipod touch 4g but now it won't auto sync with itunes. I have tried every thing!!

After reading all the discussions I have decided the fault lies with the new ios 5 and until Apple comes up with a fix I will not resolve it. I also read in these discussions about problems with Audiobooks not showing up as audiobooks in itunes but as music. As an audiobook reader here is what I have discovered: I have an audible.com acct and so far I have noticed no change when I purchase and download a book from that site. The problem comes when I use Overdrive Media which uses DRM and WMA format. These show up in itunes but not in my ipod which means I can only listen to them on my pc or laptop.

  • HT1351 My iPod Touch and my iPad will not sync with my laptop in iTunes. Apple say to open iTunes and click on preferences. I can't find preferences, where are they?

  • New iPod Touch (4th generation) - Music will not sync

I just bought an 4th generation iPod Touch.  When syncing my from my Windows PC to the iPod everything syncs perfectly - photos, contacts, bookmarks - but not my music files.  The music sync box is checked.  The playlists are hightligthed, but no luck.  Any ideas why I am having this problem?

The songs were either purchased through the iTunes or imported from old CDs.  This is a replacement iPod as my old Clasic died.  All the songs I wanted downloaded fine to the Classic.  In addtion, I have an iPad and an iPhone 5 and the songs synced to them just fine.

We have itunes on the current computer but I cannot get it to sync. What options do I have to resolve this?

  • HT1386 ipod touch 3.1.3 will not sync. When I connect it through the USB Iphotos pops up. How can I get it to sync?

I have tried to restart my computer, restart my Ipod touch and downloaded the latest Itunes and it will still not snyc to itunes. It opens up Iphoto everytime. My computer recently crashed and I took it into Apple and now have version 10.5.8. Could that be the reason? It was working before.

    Try here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
It is normal and expected for iPhoto to open since that is how you get the saved photos off the iPod.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen. WILL NOT sync!!

When i try to sync my ipod touch to my itunes it skips the process and says:
itunes could not back up the ipod 'Renae's iPod'because the backup was corrupt or not compatable with the ipod. Delete the backup for this ipod, then try again.
my ipod still shows up that its charging and comes up in my itunes but it wont sync.
i have already deleted the backup files for the ipod but it STILL won sync!!!!
The only thing that i can think of is when it was syncing earlier and my battery died and my laptop turned off.
-thats all that might have gone wrong.
Can someone PLEASE help me! i really want to sync my ipod and i have tried everything!!!!
deleting backup on the ipod did not help! so can someone else????

Did this happen after updating to iOS 5 or 5.0.1?  Sometimes updates cause this type problem with some car systems.
You can try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Some songs, which are bought in the iTunes store, will be played iTunes but not on my iPod touch. Has somebody an explanation for that? Thanks,

Some songs, which are bought in the iTunes store, will be played iTunes but not on my iPod touch. Has somebody an explanation for that? Thanks,

No, you should have Restrictions OFF.
Computer's iTunes > Preferences > Parental Preferences > everything should be unchecked.
Are the songs also on computer's iTunes?
