I have several hundred tunes that were purchsed from itunes under a different user name and password and email. I have transfered those to a newer computer and have the library. When I try to play (some) of them (not all) it says to authorize my current computer but when I do it still does not let me play them. I simply want to select many and download to my iphone from the library. What do I need to do?

You have to use the same old Apple ID and password.
NOTE: All content bought using one Apple ID cannot be merged or transferred to another Apple ID.

I recently upgraded to a MacBook Pro. In trying to move my iTunes library I realized I had been aquiring songs under 2 different account names over the past 4 years. Only the songs under my active account name transferred (about 3/4 of the songs), the others won't transfer. They appear in the library but can't be uploaded to my iPhonen - help please.

You have to authorize for both accounts.
Sign out of the first account, then sign in using the 2nd account, in the itunes store.
Each purchase has the buyer's name encoded in it, so you are stuck having to remember the credentials of both accounts forever.
If you forgot what the other account name was, look on your old PC and right click > Get Info on one from the old account. You'll have to contact iTS support if you need the password....see the "email us" links embedded in this page

Sign in with the correct user name and password for the iCloud account.
This has nothing to do with them being "in sync".
iCloud and iTunes accounts, which are simply Apple ID's, cannot be merged. There is no way to merge Apple ID's. If you chose to set up the device using one Apple ID for iTunes and another for iCloud, then that's the way it is.
Alternatively, you could sign into iCloud with the same ID that is used for iTunes. Whether this creates problems or not depends on how you currently have iCloud set up.

When I use migration assistant it won't let me use my account name that I'm signed in with. It requires me to select a different user name and then creates a separate account where my files live. Why can't I select the user name and account name I have?

I'm trying to migrate my music and pictures over to my new iMac. When I use the migration assistant it connects to my PC fine but it won't let me use the account name and username that I have created as the admin. It requires me to create a new user account - so then I have two separate accounts to log in to which i don't want. How do I get it to let me use the current account that I have to move my files to?

Migration Assistant creates a new account and migrates all the information you have requested to that new account. There is no way around that. However once migrated you can move the data to the account you want to. Here are some instructions for doing so:

You are allowed two activated installations at any time. If you aren't going to be using the old computer anymore, go to Help>Sign Out in the editor to deactivate it.
For the new computer, the simplest way is to download the trial and enter your serial number into that when installing.

The only way would be to ask the person to whom you sold the phone to send you a Skype voucher.

Although I can receive mail on my btinternet address I cannot reply or send. My settings , apart from user name are extactly the same as my wife's who has no problem. We are the same account but with different user names and passwords.

When my computer restarts it asks me for my password - I put in my apple password and it will not recognize, so can't use my computer.

Reset the password.

Sorry if this posted twice I am NEW. I thought I could just go back to what I typed and add to it. Mom had a computer it died they are putting in the old drive on the new computer as a slave. You can set up your iCloud account on your iOS device under: "Settings > iCloud" and a other account for store purchases under "Settings > iTunes & App Stores". Unfortunately merging accounts is not possible but you could transfer all of your music manually via iTunes from your Mac or PC.

iTunes and iCloud and different accounts, you will need to delete both accounts from your device before adding the new details in their place.
For iCloud go to settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit the delete button. You can then sign back in using your correct details. For iTunes go to settings >store, tap your account ID and then sign out, you can then sign back in using your correct Apple ID.

Since transferring my iTunes library to a new computer, my library is just a mess. There are lots of songs that are duplicated 2, 3 and 4 times although all but one of the songs will get a message saying iTunes cannot find the file. Now I am getting a messages with some songs that shows a different user id for iTunes and wants the password. I have spent lots of $$$ and time trying to resolve these issues but really want to know what the heck is going on here?

Maybe you purchased some of the other songs using a different itunes account.

I encountered this problem yesterday, when I tried to play some songs in my ITunes library on a new computer; this is an ITunes library that I had moved from my old computer.
I called Apple Support, and the excellent Tech person began looking into the problem.
Meanwhile, while I was waiting for him, I Googled the problem (which I should have done first): lots and lots of people (I discovered) have bumped into this same frustrating problem.
Yes: the problem arises when you move to a new computer with an ITunes library that includes songs you bought, way back when, using an AOL ID.
Apple Support contacted ITunes. And ITunes tracked down my AOL account, and then issued me (that is, me and Apple Support) a new Apple ID. There are two or three additional steps; they are not hard, but you need the combo of help from Apple Support and ITunes. The key thing is getting the new Apple ID, which you must have, and which, once it has done its work, you then can ignore..
I can now listen to everything--and I am signed in to ITunes using my current, usual Apple ID.
Note: All of this would be easier and simpler for us if we could actually speak to someone at ITunes; the only way we can get to a "live" person there is by contacting someone at Apple Support.
