Songs showing up in songlist but not under artists on ipod

when going to pick songs. i can go to the songlist and pick the songs but when going under artists menu they are not there. does anyone know what the problem may be. thanks

This isn't foolproof but there are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song is marked as part of a compilation or 2) it is missing an album name.
If the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder which may be why this happens.
Also if tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances but the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous in place of a title. • Why do some songs appear on a playlist but not under their artist?

I have a couple songs that will play on the iPod but can't be accessed through their artists. The only way I can access them is under a playlist. For example, I have 4 songs by Fat Boy Slim, 3 of which coming from unknown albums. When I select Fat Boy Slim under the artist menu, it goes straight to the album that the fourth song is under. The songs from unknown albums have to be accessed through the Top Rated playlist. If I select almost any other artist, it will lead me to another menu where I can choose "all" or any of the albums of that artist. The same applies to another artist where ten songs are from one album and one song is from an unknown album; the song with an unknown album will not appear under its artist. The Ipod will just go straight to the album that the ten songs are from. Does anyone else have this problem? How can I fix it? By the way, I have the 30 gig video iPod.

This may be happening because there is no album name for those songs. Since the song with an album title does show up, try naming the albums for the other three songs. They'll probably show up.

  • Music on iPod but not under Artists

I have recently put on some new music to my iPod (now 1year old) and have noticed it appears under the "recently added" playlist, and the album will appear under "albums", however, the artist will not appear under "artists".
It seems to occur only with artists begining with B, Beyonce and Bela Fleck are the songs I happen to have added. This may be pure coincidence, but I have not noticed any other missing artists and I have also added artist such as Travis and this has appeared as normal.
    Any help would be appreciated

  • E-Mail shows up on alert, but not under mail

First time owner of an iPhone...I have the 4S.  I setup my personal and work e-mail.  The "front page" shows 100 new e-mails, but when I go into mail it is on the "welcome to mail" page.  I found one thread that suggests going into Settings...Mail, Contacts, Calendar...choosing account and then going into advance settings and directing e-mail to in-box...but there doesn't seem to be this option.  Any ideas?

On my set up, with the mobile me sync panel set to automatic and mail accounts ticked, I recieve incoming mail instantly. (on phone and mac)
Mail Accounts under the Sync tab for your MobileMe account settings is for syncing email account settings with the Mail.app between multiple Macs only. This has nothing to do with Fetching messages or new messages being pushed to the Mail.app or to the iPhone.
The iPhone includes a Push setting, which can be turned on or off. Are you saying if you turn Push access off on your iPhone and leave Mail Accounts selected under the Sync tab for your MobileMe account settings on your Mac, new messages will be pushed to your iPhone with your MobileMe account even though Push access is turned off on your iPhone?
+There is no setting at System Preferences > MobileMe under the Sync tab that has anything to do with the Mail.app.+
+The Fetch setting for the Mail.app is at Mail > Preferences under the General tab.+
+The Mail.app setting that allows for Push access with an IMAP account is available under the Advanced tab for the account preferences - use IDLE command if the server supports it.+
The iPhone includes a Fetch setting, which is used if Push access is turned off. The iPhone includes a global push setting - on or off, and you can enable or disable push access separately for received messages, contacts and calendars with a MobileMe account. I don't have push access enabled for received messages with my MobileMe account on my iPhone, but I do have push access enabled for contacts and calendar events.
The MobileMe sync settings under the Sync tab for your MobileMe account preferences has nothing to do with the Mail.app and checking for new messages or syncing server stored mailboxes with the Mail.app or with the iPhone's Mail client.

  • Song shows up on computer but not iPhone

I downloaded several songs today. They all downloaded and show up on my computer and play just fine. They all synced to the phone except one. I have restarted my computer and iPhone, made sure my phone was up to date, resynced several times. I manually imported my playlists. I deleted the song off the computer and redownloaded it and started the restart/resyncing process all over again. The song still doesn't show up on my phone. Thoughts? Anything I should try?

    Hi LindaMau,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you have done some really great troubleshooting already. Have you tried downloading that song directly to the iPhone from purchases, or is there an issue with that specific song regardless? The following article will give an overview on downloading purchases directly to the iPhone but please let me know if this doesn’t work or the issue continues.

  • Imported songs show in "recently added" but not in  the general "music" tab

I imported two Amy Winehouse albums to iTunes, adding to one of her albums I already had. When I order my list in iTunes by "artist", I only see one Amy Winehouse album, which I added long ago. The only way I can see the new albums I imported is to look under "recently added". If I look in the iTunes folder, under music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Music/Amy Winehouse all 3 albums appear.
How do I get the new albums to appear in the general "music" tab without having to look in "recently added"? Thanks...  chas

Go to the top of this page, click "Support", then type back up itunes" ore similar in the search bar. I believe that the support site is down for the moment but it will be back.
or.. You can drag the entire itunes folder to your backup drive/disk.
    or..From itunes File>Library>Backup to disk

  • Artist show in recently added but not in artist list

I have an imac, early 2012 model with the most recent updates (Maverick I think it's called). And an iphone 4S with the most recent update.
I recently added two cd's into iTunes. One cd shows the artist and all info in the artist list. The other does not show in the artist list, but Does show in recently added, complete with all info. This cd was downloaded (and paid for) from the Artists website as an mp3 320. In order to put it on my iphone, I had to make a playlist and add that to the iphone. I also tried making an AAC version, but that didn't help. Any ideas why this might be?
Btw, all the artist info etc... populated on it's own and it looks like All the files imported.

    Hi,
I had the same trouble, and tried various things including a restore from back-up, with no success.
I then had a closer look at the "Get Info" section of the troubled artist.
The 'Artist Name' and 'Album Name' were correctly defined in the 'Info' tab ,
howerver, in the 'Options' tab I notied that the 'Part of a Compilation' dropdown box
was set to "Yes".  So, I changed this to "No" and left the check box selected, and then clicked "OK".
I re-checked the 'Get Info/Options' part again to ensure the change had taken affect(which it had).
I then disconnected and reconnected my Iphone 5 followed by a "SYNC"  which successfully applied
the above changes to my phone and hence solved the problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • Apple, Pfft!!! (Another iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes post)

How in the world does Apple market the iPod, etc... as if 10-year olds and grandmothers can operate the technology, when having viewed these message boards for 10 hours yesterday, it seems as even the tech savy people who can make a computer out of two pieces of bread and a piece of bologna have to wrack their brains to make it come a step closer to actually working. Blah!!!
Anyway, the problem that I am having is the problem that a lot of other people are having and seems to be the main theme at the moment.
I am unable to have iTunes recognize my iPod. My PC will once-in-a-blue-moon recognize the iPod as its own drive in Windows Explorer, but mostly all I get is the big freeze. Every time I connect my iPod to the USB, all of the programs cease to operate until I unplug it. I am not having memory problems either.
Here's what I've done. I have updated the iPod Updater to the 06-23-06 version. I was able to get it to update the software on my 60GB iPod. I got all excited only to then have it give me several error messages 1) an internal manager error and 2) some unable to dock or something like that (sorry I'm not at my home cpu.) Once while I was doing the 4-hour battery charge my iPod came up in the source list in iTunes, but I have been unable to have it be rerecognized.
I've unistalled and reinstalled iTunes and the iPod Updater over 10 times and have gone through the 5 Rs as well as all of the steps on
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716 (My iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes)
I've even messed with msconfig and tried a whole bunch of other suggestions. It doesn't seem that Apple has a fix for this problem and we are all left with paperweights.
    Any suggestions?
Thanks you all and condolences to everyone who is going through this same problem. I swear what happened to plug and play. Pfft!!!

You know they are probably going to search me out and crash my computer for posting this but i had the same problem with iTunes. i spent hours, went through the 50000 "R's" and changed my settings and formatted and reset and reloaded and then i tried Realaudio. it found all the songs i had loaded into iTunes and put them on my shuffle first try. you can get Realaudio at <www.real.com> Let me know how it works...

  • I can see my ipod nano 2nd generation under finder but not under itunes.

I can see my ipod noano 2nd generation under finder but not under itunes. I can't upgrade the music on the ipod nano if itunes doesn't show it. How can't I fix this problem?

If still no luck, try a low level format of the iPod using Disk Utility and the instructions provided in this article.

  • IPod shows up as disk but not in iTunes on Yosemite

    Hi,
I have an iPod classic, previously owned by a different family member on a different library. I wanted to erase and get my own content on. The problem is that it does come up as a disk in Finder, but not in iTunes.
I have used on various other computers (all Yosemite), no problem. Just on this one it doesn't work.
I have tried to create a new library, same problem.
I have tried under a different user, same problem.
All other iOS devices work fine.
Same problem for all iPod (classic, nano, ...) which show up as disks, but not in iTunes.
The only difference is that I have Yosemite Server running on the same computer. Not sure whether this could be the reason?
    Thanks
    Patrick

  • External Hardrive shows up in Utility but not on desktop

Hi folks. External hard-drive that used to show up fine (and was formatted for Mac prior to original use) does not show up on desktop or utility on my laptop. However, when I try it on a different computer it does show up on Utility but not on desktop. I ran "verify disk" in utility and it says it "appears to be ok." The firewire ports on the aforementioned computers, as well as firewire cable work fine with other devices. Finder is set to show external drives. Advice? Thank you.

By "utility" I assume you mean Apple's Disk Utility. If so, what is its version number & modified date shown on the affected Mac in Finder's "Get Info" box?
Are both computers (I assume they are both Macs) running the same version of Disk Utility & of the Mac OS? On the computer that recognizes the drive, what does Disk Utility say is the *partition scheme* of the drive? (This will only be shown if you select the drive & not the volume name indented under it in the device list on the left.)

  • Files seen under Explorer but not under Music; making playlists outside Music

My Zen Touch 2 sees some files only in the explorer but not under Music > Songs. I.e. I load an album into the right folder and Zen sees only the fourth, fifth etc. track under Music while seeing all under Explorer. As I can add songs to playlists only under Music, this effecti'vely blocks me from listening, What`s the... ehm, problem? Why can`t this piece of plastic see all the files?
And second: Maybe there is a nicer way of making playlists than one by one in the device? I`ve heard some hardware Mp3/4 players cana ccept external playlists, but the help doesn`t mention this.

QThanks but as this changes even within an album (tracks -3 not seen, later ones yes) I don`t think it is the problem of tags exclusi'vely. BTW, maybe there`s some way of making the Music window (program? folder?) display file names instead tags?
Thanks for the playlist answer. Now`s just the problem of finding where WMP keeps them

  • When syncing, 2 custom tones end up in music but not under tones

When syncing, 2 custom tones end up in music but not under tones.  never happened before

They may be music files that can be converted to ringtones/text tones. Right-click on the files in iTunes, select Get Info, on the Summary tab they must say Kind: Ringtone, if they don't you have to convert them first.  This video will show you how: http://cnettv.cnet.com/free-custom-ringtones-text-tones-ios-5/9742-1_53-50113469 .html.

Hoping for some help with a very frustrating issue!
I have been syncing calendar and contacts on my iPhone 5 and Outlook 2007 using iCloud  2.1.3 (my PC is running Vista). All was well until the events I entered on the phone were showing up in Outlook, but not the other way around. I’ve tried the usual recommended steps: deselecting calendar and contacts in the iCloud control panel and then re-selecting, signing out of the panel and back in, and repairing the Outlook installation in control panel.  I even uninstalled iCloud on the PC and downloaded it again (same version).
The furthest I’ve gotten is step 2 (and once, step 3) of 7 while performing “Outlook Setup For iCloud.” At that point I get, “Your setup couldn’t be started because of an unexpected error.”  After the first attempt at all this, all my calendar events disappeared from Outlook, although they are still in iCloud calendar and on my phone.
Sound familiar?  Any ideas on how to solve this iCloud/Outlook issue?  Thanks much in advance!
