Songs skip every 5 seconds...

Hello.
I have a problem with my iPod mini. Two nights ago I went to play one of my playlists as usual. It has been working fine for a few months now (after I got the old generation replaced when the battery died). All of the sudden, I press play and the song starts, but it is skipping every 4-5 seconds. I thought maybe it was a fluke, but this has been happening for a few days now. I wouldn't be so irritated if this wasn't the second time in a year that two different iPods have broken on me.
Any suggestions on what to do? If I can fix it myself, that would be great. If I have to take it in to get fixed, I want my money back.

I've got sort of the same problem. My mini, on some songs, crackles and skips like crazy. And sometimes when I play the song over again it's okay or it skips in different places. And I plugged my iPod to my stereo and the same thing happened so I KNOW it's the iPod.

  • I have bleed through and song skipping (within seconds).

I am totally frustrated at this point. I have had this shuffle for about 1 month and have nothing but problems, this is my first apple product and it is not winning me over. I have redownloaded itunes multiple times, I have also restored my shuffle multiple times with the same issue. I have also asked for all the music to be set at one level without success. There is horrible bleed through and skipping of songs. Many times the itunes says it cannot read my shuffle. I am so frustrated, I need HELP.

Since it is less than one-year old, it is under warranty.  If you have an Apple Store nearby, you should make a reservation at the Genius Bar (you can do it online at the store's web page)
    http://www.apple.com/retail/
and take your shuffle there.  If your computer is a laptop, take it along if possible.  They can look at it hands on.  If there is a defect, you can see about getting it replaced.  That's what the warranty is for...
If there is no convenient Apple Store, contact Apple's "official" tech support by phone using the Contact Us link at the bottom right corner of this web page.  It says there, under Contact Apple Support, "Mac, iPhone, iPod and iPad customers within 90 days of ownership are eligible for complimentary phone support — one support incident per iPod."  You are within 90 days... speak to an Apple employee about your problem.
I have no suggestion for "There is horrible bleed through and skipping of songs."

  • Printer skipping every second page!

On my Deskjet F380, when printing the pages of a manual from a CD, onto double-sided paper, I opted to print the odd pages first. It then printed pages 1, 5, 9, etc. Same missing pages when printing even numbers. Any suggestions please.

I'm having a similar problem with a Deskjet 2050 All-in-One J510 series.  For two sided printing, I want to print first the odd number of pages so that page #1 is the last page printed, I have to select "front to back".  (OK, that's backwards from my previous HP printer but it's what works).  Then I want to print the even pages on the back sides of the odd pages.  So I insert the printed pages and select "print even pages".  The printer then prints pages 2, 6, 10, etc.  So to work around this glitch, I have to  print the even pages one page at a time.  BUMMER!!  I have tried everything I can think of including reinstalling the software.  I conclude that the problem must be corruption of the software on the CD.  Apparently this doesn't seem to be a common problem but it has effected the software on three different printers.  It seems strange that there have been only three posts on the problem in the last three years but no offered solutions.

  • Songs skip after importing them

I recently purchased an iMac. I used to have a PC but decided to change to a mac. As such I moved my iTunes library to an external hard drive. I have then connected this to my new iMac and loaded the songs into iTunes. Unfortunately some of the songs skip after seconds and go to the next track. I have tried playing the track in QuickTime and the song sounds distorted at the point it would skip in iTunes then starts playing again as normal. If there is a fix I would be very grateful to find out what it is as I fear that a lot of my library is now corrupt somehow. Also if there is an easy way to find which songs are corrupt without playing them all would be good.

We are experiencing the same problem. The CD you are importing is it a "live" CD or a "studio" recording CD. Ours is a live concert CD

  • Music skips several seconds at a time

When I'm listening to some trakcs on my iPod touch, the song skips several seconds at a time then jumps back, plays the missed-out bits, then jumps forward to where it left off and then does it again.
The sound files themselves play fine on iTunes so I doubt it is anything to do with the MP3 files themselves. I have tried removing the files off the iPod and reloading them but it doesn't help.
    Any advice??

    Hi there @knoteven
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
I understand that your sound is crackling and freezing, but that it was working fine initially from what you are saying. I am happy to help with this.
It sounds a lot like there has been a software change of some sort, perhaps one of the updates, that is the source of the problem. I would suggest as a test, a system restore to a point before the problem began.
Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8)
If that resolves the issue the next step would be to try to isolate what change was made that messed up the sound for you.
With that in mind I would disable the automatic updates first. Then select the updates and do them individually, and test the system. Once you know the culprit, uninstall it, and then never allow it to update.
Turn automatic updating on or off
It is likely that if one update is causing you a problem it is doing the same to others, so it will very likely be fixed with a later update.

  • Every song skips once during play, for ~0.5 seconds; weird box?!

For some reason, ever since I installed a new hard drive in my MacBook Pro and transferred the user account from the old to the new, whenever an song is playing in iTunes it will freeze the song for less than a second and then continue playing.
It is as if the song is on a CD, and the CD skips hesitantly then picks back up; very strange.
During this blip, an unknown modal dialog window pops up with no information and then promptly disappears. I wish I could get a screenshot, but it is so quick there is no way to get it in time.
Any clues? My library is still in exactly the same place as before, under the same username (checked in settings, everything is fine).

I'm having a similar issue. I got a new MBP and used my iPod as the transfer device to move my iTunes folder from one computer to the next. Some songs skip for a fraction of a second (and it will do this at the same time each time you try to play the song) and other times it will play anywhere from 4 to 30 seconds of a song and then skip the rest and move on to the next song. I do NOT have any widgets or plugins installed. This is a new unmolested MBP!
This is driving me nuts! I've resorted to listening to kcscradio.com in the iTunes radio section...its a great station but still...I'd appreciate it if iTunes would work properly.

  • First song on every cd skips.

Every CD I have imported to my iTunes collection skips on the first song, every single one skips at the four second mark. Playing the CD's in a CD player shows no sign of this hiccup, can anyone tell me how to fix this? The songs I buy from iTunes are fine, but the ones in collection, the first song of every CD anyway, is screwed up.

Don't know why it didn't work the first time, but I went back and individually selected a song that was skipping and "converted it to AAC". Works now, thanks for the idea.
    Ain't technology grand?

  • Songs skip after few seconds

Why do some song on my ipod skip after a few seconds?

For some unknown reason every once and a while a song will not "encode" properly when being converted into digital format (.mp3). This is the cause of the glitches that make the song skip past. This can be fixed by re-encoding the song at a different speed (The standard is 128kbps but can also be done at 160kbps and 192kbps in iTunes).
Now to re-encoding the glitched songs:
First off check the original encoding speed. This can be done by selecting the glitched song, right clicking and choosing the "Get Info" option and the bit-rate (encoding speed) will be in the summary tab. After you check the current encoding speed the settings for importing music into iTunes may need to be changed. You can change these by going into the "Edit > Preferences ~ Advanced tab > Importing tab" once here simply change the box labeled "Import Using" from "AAC Encoder" to "MP3 Encoder". Now all that needs to be done is to change the bit-rate. Choose one of the bit-rates from the "Setting" box that is different from the current bit-rate of the skipping song. Once the setting is chosen click "Ok" and then go to the "Advanced" menu and there should be an option to "Convert Selection to MP3". Now it is as simple as selecting the affected song and then going into the advanced menu and choosing the "Convert Selection to MP3" option to fix your glitched tunes! Every song that is converted using this will be encoded with the bit-rate chosen in the earlier stages.
Hopefully this helps, good luck re-encoding =)

  • After updating to iOS 6.1.5 on my iPod Touch 4th Gen, Some of my songs are skipping to the next song after 30 seconds of play...

After updating to iOS 6.1.5 on my iPod Touch 4th Gen, some of my songs are skipping to the next song after 30 seconds even though the iPod appears to be playing the current song. Some of my songs are mp3 files that have been playing fine for years...
    Anybody else experiencing this issue?
I'm using the latest version of iTunes and i don't have that problem on my PC. The only difference as far as i can tell is the updated iOS & firmware...
    AJ

Yes, other have. If the songs play OK in iTunes on the computer
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • End of last song on every album being cut off (about six seconds)

I've just realized that the last song on every one of my albums is about six seconds shorter than it should be. This really stinks because I now have about 145 songs that have the ends cut off. I think this is only a problem with the earlier version of iTunes. I think it is fixed with today's update. Anyone else see this problem? If you do update your iTunes immediately.

Yeah, I heard about this April 1st - some joke! The bug was in 7.6.1.9 and meant that the last 6 seconds of the last track of each CD ripped was left out. Details in this thread. Anything you ripped in the last 6 weeks is suspect.

  • AirTunes skips every 5 seconds.

Title sums it up really. My AirTunes will skip every 5 seconds. It's horribly annoying. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

This is a problem that sometimes never has a cure. That being said, the only commonly effective ways of dealing with this issue are described in Apple's article AirTunes audio stream drops or cuts out.
Make sure you are running the latest version of the Airport Express firmware (6.3) - you can check this with the Airport Utility.

  • Footage skipping every 7 seconds on timeline

    I'm new to cs4...
when ever i put any footage onto the timeline, the footage skips every 7 seconds... if i stop playback and start it again on a different point of the clip, 7 seconds from whenever I hit play seems to skip.  I've tried different footage from projects done with older version of premere that I know had no issue before and it still seems to skip every 7 seconds from when ever I hit play.
it is not a rendering issue as there is no red line... once I export to mpeg the clips dont skip.  it is just very annoying to edit with this skipping every 7 seconds.
    Anyone have this happen before?
    Thanks

  • Last few seconds of some songs skipping

Under the new iTunes I am hearing the last few seconds of some songs skip or cut off abruptly when playing an album. If I go back to the songs and drag the slider near the end of the song they play fine. I reinstalled Itunes over top of itself but no joy. Has anyone else had this problem?. Thanks for any answers in advance. Allso I am running OSX Mavericks.

nope, not the cross fader. most songs play 100% fine, but i've noticed quite a few which just abruptly end around 30seconds before there supposed to. I origional thought it was a transfer error since I do have USB 1.1, but since the songs play fine off the ipod when using itunes, it can't be

I already checked the song information where you can set stopping points but there's no stopping point for this song set. I also aren't able to download the song again. So how can I fix this proplem?
