Songs skip when I import a CD

Every time I import a cd and want to listen to it while it imports, it skips and sounds horrible.

Why aren't songs with the same album art grouped together? - http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1468
Compilation checkbox is under options tab when editing multiple tracks at once.

  • My songs skip when i have other programs running and am navigating through them, how do I fix this?

My songs skip when I have multiple windows running and am navigating through them, it is quite irratating!

First try deleting the songs and redownloading them
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    Next
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Songs skip when dowloaded from CD

When I copy a CD to the iPOD Shuffle library it skips when I listen to it from the library, so it also skips on the iPOD shuffle. I have converted the songs, tried to copy and past, tried to save it to my hard on my PC, etc. When I listen to CDs (store bought and new, not "bootlegged" copies. Please assist as I am a heading back to the store were I purchased it.

    Hello, Calandria
Is error correction enabled? (iTunes Preferences/Importing/Use Error Correction ... on my machine)
Another possibility, of course, would be that the CD was produced with a Windows-capable scheme to prevent copying the songs. Can't really help you if that's the case, though.
    Good luck

  • Songs skip when playing...

I have windows xp and a new HP laptop. I downloaded the latest itunes and imported songs from a itunes library and some cds. When I play from the library, the songs skip or "hiccup" occasionally which is very annoying! Any suggestions?

Same thing is happening to me. I work at home and listen to iTunes all day. My computer and iTunes have replaced my stereo and I have enjoyed great music using iTunes for the past two years until I upgraded to iTunes 7. I recently upgraded to 7.0.2.16 thinking it was a patch to fix the problem, have done all the suggested Quick Time settings changes and I'm still experiencing the skipping. It's not quite as bad as it was at first, however it's still there, skipping at the beginning at about every third song played. In fact while writing this, the jazz song currently playing started by skipping for a few seconds. Quite annoying! Apple - how can you fix??????

  • Songs skip when playing on itunes

Is anyone else having problems with their songs skipping on itunes (both saved audio files and audio cds) when they play fine on other players like windows media player. My itunes was working fine until about two weeks ago when the program seemed to create havic on my computer. It killed my internet explorer, then itunes and quicktime wouldn't uninstall on my computer. Finally removed programs using windows cleanup utility program. Have installed/ uninstalled program several times since with no luck. The songs keep skipping and slowing down. Even tried updating drivers. Seems to play fine as long as I'm not running anyother program on the computer, but as soon as I run another program or even minimize/ maximize the itunes media player skipping starts (even though only using like 4% computer power). Even tried installing stand alone quicktime player. Nothing works. The apple techs have to be the worst support on the planet. Sent hrs on the phone with them. Please help or let me know if u are having similar problems. Thanks Tom

I've had problems as well. I get "crackling" when I play songs using iTunes. When it happens, it appears that the program is getting bogged down because the mouse doesn't move smoothly across the screen. I've been trying many ways of troubleshooting it including the "waveout" option and keep coming up empty. I've tested identical tracks on Windows Media Player and found them to play perfectly on WMP. What is also baffling is that I can still burn playlists using iTunes and then play the burned CD on another computer or CD player with no sound problems whatsoever. Someone suggested it could be connected to compatibility with a Windows update like Service Pack 2 for WINXP, but I know for a fact the program was fine when SP2 was installed.
Here's a brief history of my troubleshooting:
Everything with my system was working fine.
Computer was getting bogged down playing Sim City, games on pogo.com, and itunes was crackling.
Left for work one day and iTunes was working. Came home the next day and the program dumped EVERYTHING. It did not carry a single song in the library and all 52 playlists were gone even though all files were still sitting in the iTunes folder as they always were. Each playlist xml file I found and opened with Notepad showed only the playlists that come with the program and nothing I had created. I'm assuming this issue occurred because of a corrupted xml library file or there was a conflict with my old 20GB hard drive that used to house the old OS and program files (that hard drive has since been wiped).
Did major utitility maintenance: 3 Spyware programs, 2 antivirus, Norton Utlities Disc Cleanup/defragged/etc and what little spyware found were cookies.
I considered that there may be files corruption, so I tried playing mp3 tracks from the library using Windows Media Player and had no sound problems at all!! Of course, the majority of my library is in apple's aac fomat.
I also decided to see what would happen if I burned a CD through iTunes. The CD works great!
I also get crackling when I play CDs through the CD Rom with iTunes and do not when I use Windows Media Player.
I also considered that it was a specific format causing the issue: mpeg layer 3 or 4. Songs crackle across the board.
Uninstalled iTunes again. Downloaded and installed iTunes 5 today. Songs still crackle!
I also used regedit and ccleaner to clean up the computer as well. Still no luck.

  • Imported song "skips" when using final cut express.  please help!!!

hey everybody. i'm editing a music video in final cut express 4.0. i'm very new to this, so please forgive me for using incorrect terminology, or in most cases, no terminology. here we go...
i'm having this problem where the song i imported into fce keeps, for lack of a better word, skipping. the song is an mp3 file. the song plays all the way through, and it doesn't stop when it skips. but every so often, there will be this glitch, where you can hear the music screw up. when played in itunes or on a cd, this song plays fine, so it's not the mp3. what gives?
i thought it might be related to the audio from my video tracks. at first, i was just bringing the audio levels from the video all the way down. but then i decided to try erasing it to see if that would help. it didn't.
thank you so much for reading and taking the time to share your valuable knowledge! take care, everyone.

  • Songs skip when streaming from iCloud

This problem occurs consistently. The track will skip as soon as it is fully loaded.
    To explain clearly:
When you start a track which is not stored locally it "streams" from iCloud. (More like it is downloaded and stored temporarily than actual streaming.) As it starts it plays and downloads simultaneously. The progress bar fills light grey as the track downloads. It also fills dark grey as the track plays (also marked by a small diamond). As soon as the progress bar fills light grey indicating it is fully downloaded it skips to the next track where the process repeats.
This not happen with all tracks but it occurs with the majority of tracks.

  • Songs skip when volume changed

I have a 8GB iPod nano (3rd generation). I have only had it since August (really wishing i had waiting to replace my old iPod a couple more months so I could have gotten the new nano). Today I started having a problem with the sound on my iPod. When i adjust the volume while listening to a song the sound seems to skip or become scratchy. It only happens when im using the wheel to adjust the volume it doesnt happen if i scroll fast through the songs while listening to a song. Has anyone else ever had this problem that would know or have any suggestions of what could be done to fix it. I tried switching ear phones and it still does it.

    Hey Jeremy B.,

  • Songs skip when i use itunes.

It's not all the time, but most of the time.
Usually it will play the first song perfectly,
then on the rest of the songs it skips or something.
I've watched the seconds, and on the part that messes up..
    the seconds go faster.
I don't know, but it frustrates me
cause i don't know how to fix it.
Anyone else have this problem before???
    or
Does anyone know have to solve this problem???

I tried everything Apple recommended here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93610
    to no effect
Going back to iTunes v6.0.2.23 seems to have worked for me. (for now <crossed_fingers>)
I had planned to try v7.4, but it's WinXP or Vista only. I wish they'd say that somewhere obvious so I didn't waste bandwidth on it.

  • Certain purchased songs skip when playing

I have been purchasing albums and singles lately, and some of them play for around 40s and then skip to the next song? Is there any way of fixing this?

Nope. I recreated the library, resynched my iPod. The songs still skip. I'm beginning to think it has to do with the fact that I synch my iPod to a specific playlist and not my music library. I may try restoring my iPod and individually copying the songs from the library to my shuffle. Either that, or just get rid of the songs off my iPod that skip..since all they do is aggravate me!
    Thanks for trying.

  • My songs SKIP when I try to use the VISUALIZER- I need help please

all works great until I put the visualizer on. Any ideas???

Old processor, need more RAM, need more video RAM or faster video card.
Visualizer for me, tends to slow down my system even more than iTunes during importing.

  • Re: Songs skipping after downloading from iTunes

I am having problems with the songs skipping when I use itunes to play them on my computer. I have deleted them and redownloaded. It does not fix the problem. What do I do next?

    Hello, cajunkiwi.
Thank you for the question.  There are a couple options to help you with this.  If limited purchased media skips only on the iPhone, then delete the affected content and download it again free of charge via the purchased section of the iTunes Store.  If almost all of your media library skips on the iPhone only, remove all music from the device by removing the preference to sync music.  After this has been completed, restore the sync music preference to place the media back on the the device.  Below are a couple articles that will walk you through this process.

  • Music skips when playback through computer

Ever since I installed itunes 5.0, the songs skip when i play the pusic through my computer. I tried playing it using Realplayer and it does the same thing. Anyone else have this problem?

If other applications are skipping, I suspect that it's a configuration issue.
Have you tried everything in this knowledge base article:
iTunes for Windows: Songs and other audio don't sound right
If you want me to help you look for drivers, I need to know the manufacturer / model of your computer (or motherboard if it's custom built). For example, my computer is a Dell Latitude C840. What's yours?

  • Skipping when playing or importing music

ever since downloading itunes 7.6, anytime that i either play a song off a cd or import music into itunes, the song skips like the dick is scratched, but it plays fine in any other program. please help...

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I have found that sometimes when I continue use of the computer for other things while burning a disc it may mess up. If I leave everything be and just dedicate computer use to the burning of the disc until it is done it will turn out just fine. But that was on my old Flat Panel iMac. I don't think it could do too many things at once.
