  • Replacement ipod skipping and pausing songs

    Hi,
I paid to have my replaced in january as I had smashed the screen and it was out of warranty but now the replacement continually skips and pauses songs and activates voice control while it is locked. According to apple this new ipod is not under warranty so i would have to pay to get it sent in for repair. I'm currently living in Austria where Apple stores aren't easily accessible so I can't just take it in...Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Does Apple provide a warranty on my replacement iPod?
If Apple provides service under warranty, the terms of the warranty and applicable provisions of law will cover defects in materials and workmanship that arise during the remaining warranty or 90 days after iPod service, whichever provides longer coverage for you. If iPod service is provided outside of warranty, Apple warrants that the replacement iPod will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for 90 days from the replacement ship date.

  • IMovie Project seems to skip and pause very briefly during playback

I am creating a video montage in iMovie '09, though when viewing the project during playback the video does not play smoothly and seems to skip and pause very briefly while continuing to play. Each clip separately played smoothly prior to its addition into my iMovie project.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What kind of clips are these?
Specifically, if you right-click on a clip in the Event Browser and select "Reveal in Finder", then right-click on the clip in the Finder and select "Open with...QuickTime Player, and then hit Command-I in QuickTime Player to open the Inspector Window, what codecs are mentioned next to the word "Format:"?

  • Skips and pauses in Itunes

HI, Last night I watched two episodes of Lost which I had been saving. I just put up with the annoying skips and pauses and just tried to consentrate on what a good series it is and that I am lucky to be able to download and see it. The second one played better no skips and pauses but half wat through I got a broken line across the screen about a quarter of the way up the screen that didn't go away untill the episode ended.
Any word on fixes for Itunes playback?

Do you have 'volume logic' installed if so try removing it, it worked for me

  • Songs skipping and dragging...

I bought my first songs ever from iTunes yesterday and enjoyed playing an old album I used to listen to as a kid twice...
But today when I hit play again, all the songs are skipping and dragging like a old crackly record player or bad electrical connection (slow power?)....
What the heck? I thought buying digital didn't have problems like that.  I'm really upset I spent $10 on an album I got to listen to twice and now seems ruined.  Any ideas?

  • IPod skips and pauses after update

After updating to the most recent software my iPod Photo (20GB) started acting up.
    * I can't automatically update my playlists (Error Message: "This iPod can not be copied to" appears after about a third of the songs have been successfully updated). I can then manually copy the rest of them one by one. Tedious!
    * iPod skips and freezes on certain songs
    * Resetting, restoring, re-installing software (iPod and iTunes) does not take care of the problem
    * Songs play beautifully in iTunes and on my other iPod (nano)
    Please help.
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I'm afraid I won't be any help to you, but I DO HOPE someone can enlighten us. I am also having this problem and I have just now exchanged my Nano for the second time because of this loose connection. I suspected the earphones immediately. If I lay the iPod on a flat surface 2 feet behind me without arm/hand interferance and sit like a statue without blinking or breaking a smile, I'm good. But once I breath the earphones disconnect. Would I be soo dumb to think it was because I got the Nano Silver instead of the Green? One friend has a Green and the other has Red. They both have "snap in" solid connections. I'm on my third set of earphones and second car transmitter. NOT making any difference. Someone please....do I keep exchanging this thing until I find a "snappy" earphone hole?

  • Music skips and pauses during work out

    Ciao a tutti,
I like to use my iPhone when I'm working, stapping it to my arm with an XtremMac SportWrap, and listening to my playlists.
I'm running for about 40 minutes and usually about halfway through my workout, or towards the end, the music starts wigging out. It pauses, then skips ahead to the next track, pauses again, on and on. Sometimes it just stops playing and I have to hit play again.
After my second trip the Mac Genius he replaced it. But it's now happening to the SECOND ONE!
My fear is that it's a corrupt music file, which would kill me because I have over 20,000 songs in my iTunes. The other possibility is maybe it's heating up too much during my work out. ???
Has anybody had this problem before!

One thing you might take a look at.
be conscience of any moisture getting in the microphone on the earbud cables when your working out.
This could cause the contacts to short out and as a result the music could start pausing, or skipping.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone - music skipping and pausing - headset problem?

I've noticed a problem when I've been out on a run with my iPhone. Late in the run the music will stop and start and skip around. I suspect the problem is in the Apple headset. I think sweat is getting into the mouthpiece/pause-advance gismo and sending false signals to the iPhone. I've also noticed (during runs) that the pause-advance feature is inconsistant; sometimes it advances, sometimes not.
I would like to upgrade the headset to the V-Moda Vibe headset as soon as those are available with the call receive/hangup function.
Has anyone else noticed these problems.

that's funny... that just occured to me last night... thought the phone was buggin out so i restored it... shoulda just did a search on the forums... now i have to reinstall all my 3rd party apps...
i was also at the gym sweatin to the oldies when this occurred... and i do believe it's the head set... i understand the pausing and playin, but sometimes the song will change back and forth and what not... very strange behavior....

  • Songs skip after pausing from task tray

I'm having a really annoying problem: when I pause a song from the task tray (by right-clicking on the iTunes icon and hitting "pause") and then restart it, it skips about once a minute. Any songs played will then skip in this fashion, until I close iTunes and restart it. I first had this problem when I upgraded to iTunes 7.2, and I tried all of the usual recommended steps to fix it, and nothing worked, so finally I downgraded to 7.1 and it fixed it. I didn't upgrade to 7.3 for this reason, but when 7.4 came out, I thought maybe they'd have fixed it, but I just upgraded and it's doing it again. Please fix, Apple! Does anyone know what's causing this or what I can do about it?
Also, I'm about to get one of the new iPod classics. Will I be able to run it with iTunes 7.1 if I downgrade again, as I'll probably have to do?

not sure but I think you have to have the newest version of itunes for the new ipods that just came out.
Can't help you with the skipping, sorry.

  • Skips and Pauses

We use our scroll-wheel iPod as our home stereo, so it sits in its cradle most all the time. Often the iPod will pause briefly after beginning a song, and then resume, leaving a skip in the music. Other times it simply stops playing and goes to the battery charging screen, despite having been in the charger all the while.
We have replaced the iPod twice on warrantee for this behavior. Our third iPod has the same behavior, just as the previous two did. In each case we've been advised to reset the iPod and install the newest software, and the problem has not been solved. If this has happened to me three times in a row, I'm suspecting that others must have experienced the same behavior - am I wrong? Please let me know if you've experienced something similar, and whether you've found a way to remedy it.

If successive iPods have exhibited this same behavior, it may very well be that the way the iPod is used is the issue. It appears that your iPod is switching between charging and playing when you keep it in the cradle, giving you those annoying pauses.
As a fix, you might want to lift your iPod out of its charger as you listen to music. Every once in a while, or just before going to bed, insert your iPod fully into the dock to recharge. I doubt skipping will be an issue.

  • Itunes skips and pauses playback of purchased music

I have a Macbook Pro, using 10.5.8, and the most up-to-date itunes (9.2.1). The pauses/skips happen in EVERY song I've purchased from the i-tunes store (this does not happen with music from my CD collection).
My activity monitor has no strange usage (only open programs are itunes, firefox, and text edit).
Any help appreciated, especially as I paid specifically for these songs and would like to be able to hear them!

You are correct, sir. I was confused. I reposted my observations on the Mac side. This thread can be deleted by whomever might be able to do that.

  • My iphone 4 keeps switching songs, playing and pausing by itself especially when I use my headphones

Ever since I installed the iOS 7.1 update, my iPhone 4 keeps playing, pausing, switching to the next song, fast forwarding by itself. Especially when I use my headphones. It's getting really frustrating because not only is it when I listen to the music player, but also on youtube videos and then it pause the video and then play the music from the music player or it would pause music on soundcloud by itself too. This mostly happens when I use my headphones but when I don't use my headphones I don't see it happening.
A friend called me and I was using my headphones and the conversation kept getting hanged up by itself it wasn't until I stopped using the headphones that I could have a normal converstation, but I only talked for less than a minute without the headphones so it wasn't enough to tell me that it is the headphones that is the problem. So is it my phone or my headphones? Is this a software problem because of the update because my headphones were not doing this before, HOW CAN I MAKE THIS STOP. (This has been happening for almost a week now)
BTW: I also noticed that if I am listening to music on the music player or youtube and its in my pocket or hand and Im jumping to the song or shaking (lol) the songs pause and plays then switches to the next song aaaaurrrrrruuuuuuuggggggghrrrrrghhhhhhh WHATS GOING ON

    Hello alplease,
It sounds like your touch screen is acting erratically and seems to be exacerbated when you have your earphones in. I recommend the information in the following article named:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Troubleshooting touchscreen response
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1827
    Restart your device
Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please schedule a service appointment with an Apple Retail Store for evaluation. If an Apple Retail store is not an option, contact Apple to find out your best service option or see theService FAQ for your product.
You can also try closing all the open apps:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue again:

  • I accidentally hit "download all" in itunes on my iphone 5. Is there a way to stop this without going thru each song individually and pausing it?

I am new to the iphone, just got my 1st one today!
I was just going to let the songs download, but shortly into it I got a message saying I had used 50% of data plan for MONTH, so I panicked and was just pausing each song as it started downloading.  There's several hundered songs.  Then I got a message saying I had used 75% data!  I turned on my airplane mode to stop everything.  Is there an easy way to stop the songs from ALL downloading without going thru each one individually?  I'm not very tech saavy, so please be nice and use small words...  Thanks.

Syncing shouldn't trouch you photos unless you have photos in a Photo Library album.  These would be photos that were synced to your phone from your computer.  If you do have any, you'll need to use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them to your computer prior to syncing.
If you prefer to backup your camera roll photos prior to syncing, open iTunes and go to Preferences>Devices and check "Prevent...from syncing automatically".  Then connect your phone to your computer and import them as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Then, to minimize data loss, follow the steps in this user tip: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141.  To follow the steps, first open iTunes and go to View>Show Sidebar.  Also, Transfer Purchases is now located in File>Devices.

  • Persistant, song skipping and random reboot - after multiple restores

My iPod is skipping songs that should work and also restarting at random when trying to play music. This has been going on for a while but now happens too often to ignore.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA26488?viewlocale=en_US
I've followed everything on this troubleshoot.
-I'm using the latest version of iTunes
-My ipod is 120gb Classic, 2 years old. It previously held around 15,000 tracks but while trying to fix it, I only sync about 300 tracks.
    -My files are not corrupted
-I've checked the bitrates and format, they should play without issue
-My iPod is stationary on my desk
-I've used 2 different USB cables and tryed syncing on multiple ports
-I've used resets, restores, and even used windows to reformat the drive
So where do I go from here? I'm not sure about my warranty, but if I take this in to an apple store will they solve this for me anyway?
I also want to ask if an ipod can actually handle my 15k song collection since the problem seems to get worse the more songs I add.
Ipods are advertised as being able to handle this amount of music but in general I find my ipod runs very slowly with this amount of music.

Does anyone have any advice? Please, I'm at my wits end here.
