Songs skipping on iPod but work in iTunes and iPhone

I have a 60gb iPod that skips specific songs all the time. It's a few random ones here and there, and every song in one particular album except for one.
I have read the other posts and articles about skipping tracks and tried restarting and resetting the iPod but have not re-imported the tracks yet or deauthorized the computer. Reason being, they work fine in iTunes and my iPhone, and they are usually songs imported from CD, not purchased from iTMS...so it seems it's isolated to the iPod.
I'm also on the latest software updates for iTunes and the iPod.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you had any more issues with this one? I have a 5G 30GB that had similar issues. It would skip random tracks after playing them for a few seconds. I took it to the local Apple Store and they replaced it saying it was the drive.
I began having problems within 24 hours with the new iPod. When I bought my iPhone two weeks later, it began doing the same thing. It only happens with imported tracks (some from CD, some from downloads like SXSW feeds).
I heard it might be database related, but no one has shown or told me how to check that. I cleared out my entire library and rebuilt it 3 different times and yet the error persists. I haven't tried it on my mini or my kids' shuffles yet.

My old ipod was having this same issue(so I presumed it was broken) and I wanted to get a new one as the old one was an 8 gig and didnt really have enough size for me so I bought a new 32 gig ipod. Unfortunately this new one is having the exact same problem and I cannot figure out why. I've tried uninstalling itunes and all the other apple programs and reinstalled them all and I've tried converting the songs to AAC but these have had no effect.
The songs play perfectly in both itunes and windows media player it's just when they transfer over to the ipod the problems start. Usually what happens is the song plays for xx seconds then the sound stops but the song continues playing on the ipod if I leave it alone the ipod skips to the next song but if I force it to speed up eventually the song kicks in again but at a different point. Other times the song will play out of sequence and will sound completely disjointed.
Another problem that keeps cropping is when trying to sync the ipod it will get about half way and randomly cut out on one song telling me it's corrupt but it's always a different song and will happily skip over previous songs that caused a problem when I run it again.
I would import all the music again but I don't have access to the CDs as I am out of the country for a year, I didn't buy any of the songs through itunes so can't re-download them either.
I am running vista 64 bit but I used the 64 bit installer so I'm not sure if that would really cause any problems or not and yes I made sure the ipod is up to date and I have tried resetting it numerous times.

It's hard to say without a lot more information; Here's a sample of things that would need to be answered in order to really determine the cause:
*Age of the computer and/or hard drive
*What application(s) are installed
What updates occurred or new applications were installed before the issues started popping up
*Whether files/folders have been deleted
About the only one that really matters for you now is the age of your hard drive. Most hard drives last for 3~5 years, and the hard drives on the newest iBooks (from 2005) would be nearing that 4-year mark. If you've never had your hard drive replaced, there is the possibility that the hard drive is failing. Hard drive failures can result in software corruption--which would be the issues you're seeing.
What you want to do from now on is make sure you have all your important data backed up (and all installation CDs/DVDs accounted for, just in case) and monitor the machine. If the odd behaviors return, we may have to do more troubleshooting.

Song displays in iPod but not in iTunes...

I want to delete a song from my iPod, here's the problem: the song shows up in my iPod but will not display when connected to iTunes. I've checked under Artist, Album, etc. Not a hard search, just for some reason it won't display..unless, I make the song On-The-Go from the iPod. Once I connect my iPod to my PC the song is there..but only in the On-The-Go list, not in the iPod music folder.
Any ideas?

I too have this problem and it only seems to have started happening since the most recent iTunes updates. Podcasts are no longer listed under podcasts on my iPod and they appear under music and podcast playlists. There is no longer any indication of which podcast have and have not been played. I have done all the 5 R's. Installed older versions of iTunes 7 with no solution. I have also tried installing older versions of iTunes but they will not work (with Vista). Let me know if you find a solution.

IPod - no power, but works w/iTunes and XP

OK, I'm sure this has been rehashed, I've just seen so many home-baked "soutions" that have led me astray for 3 days.
So, my iPod connected fine to WinXP, is read by iTunes, synchs correctly, and, I believe, charges, given a faint warmth and the glowing power indicator.
However, I can't restore it (1418). I've tried Windows formatting it. I've un- and re-installed iTunes, wiped the iPod, tried every USB port on the PC...
When unplugged, the happy little power light green while plugged in, orange when disconnected.
I can only conclude that this is a bad battery. I'll ship it out to Apple ASAP for replacement, but I have one final question I need to know about...
... the iPod was rather sentimental gift, and had a nice engraving... when you send in the iPod, do you get the same 'pod case back?

You won't get the exact same iPod back, but you can get an iPod with the same engraving on it if you'd like. However, it will take a little longer. Two to three weeks as opposed to one.

Will ipod nano work with itunes and windows 8?

Yes. All model iPods should work with the newest version of iTunes.

Finger print not unlocking but works with iTunes and Apple Store

So I have been battling this same issue since last week. I cannot unlock my phone with the FP scan but it will work when using the iTunes store or Apple Store app. Is there a setting I am missing?

Congratulations on your iPhone 5s, and thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing when using Touch ID. I recommend following the steps below for an issue like this (steps 2 and 3 specifically stand out to me for the situation you described):
Troubleshooting Touch ID
Ensure that your fingers and the Home button are clean and dry.*
Note: Cover the Home button completely. Don't tap too quickly, don't press down hard, and don't move your finger while Touch ID is scanning.
Tap Settings > General > Passcode & Fingerprint > Fingerprints and verify:
Passcode Unlock or iTunes & App Store is enabled.
One or more fingerprints have been enrolled.
If one finger isn't working, tap Edit in Settings > General > Passcode & Fingerprint > Fingerprints > Edit to delete and then reenroll the finger.
If that finger still isn't working, try enrolling a different finger.
If you are unable to enroll any of your fingers, take your iPhone 5s to an Apple Retail Store, Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact AppleCare for further assistance.

iPod is recognized by iTunes and computer, but wil not sync songs. I have about 1400 songs and just got 40 more, and before I bought those 40 my iTunes was wiped out. I still had the files so my iTunes was filled up again. Now, when I connect my iPod to the computer it is recognized and then it says "do not disconnect" then after a few seconds it says "ipod update is complete- ok to disconnect". but it did not upload any songs. How can I make it work?

If your iPod shows up in Explorer under 'my computer' try changing the drive letter:
-- Click on Start=>Control Panel=>Admin Tools=>Computer Management=>Disk Management
-- Right-Click on the iPod and select “change drive letter”
-- Choose something further along in the alphabet that is unused (Usually, “M”, “N”, “O” or something similar)
-- Safely eject the iPod
-- Reboot the PC

Sounds like your iPod is broken. Take it to Apple or someone else who repairs iPods and see if you can get it fixed, or get it replaced.

Keep songs on ipod but erase in itunes with syncing

I was wondering if anyone know how to sync the whole itunes library to the ipod video but exclude certain songs/videos from syncing. I don't have enough space on my harddrive to keep all of the videos but I would still like to keep them on my ipod. I don't want to use the ipod as external harddrive and keep them there because i would still like to watch/listen to the songs/videos i don't keep in itunes.

originally, i have an iPod Photo 40gb. a few days ago, i bought an iPod Video 60gb. i use one computer, with one user.
i actually have two problems. i hope nothing gets too confusing!!
PROBLEM #1: in the days of my iPod Photo, i had a somewhat frustrating situation. i accidently (long story) deleted all my music files. this left me with songs on iTunes, and on my iPod but not on the computer. i was worried that my iPod would wipe out when i plugged it in, but i found the solution thanks to helpful apple.com! i didnt have to get my original music files back because the songs stayed on my iPod. though there was always an exclamation mark next to the song on iTunes. this meant i couldnt play the song on iTunes because there was no backup file, but i could listen to it on my iPod.
i plugged my new iPod into the same computer onto the same iTunes program. it's uploaded all the songs except the ones with exclamation marks. is there anyway i can get these songs (a total of 192) onto the iPod Video??
PROBLEM #2: i'd like to delete all the songs on the old iPod. Except i dont know how to do this without deleting all the songs on iTunes. i can't delete the songs on iTunes because i still need them for my new iPod. You have a couple of options:
1) Change the update option of your old iPod to "manually manage songs and playlists". Connect your iPod and in iTunes go to Preferences>iPod, you can amend the option there. In manual mode you can delete the songs off the iPod and keep them in iTunes. You can also drag from iTunes the tracks and playlists that you do want: Managing Your Songs Manually
2) You can choose the update option "automatically update selected playlists only" which would mean you could create a playlist specifically for your old iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPod. The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
