Songs skipping to next in the middle

Some songs that I've bought from iTunes work fine on my computer, but when playing them on my iPod they skip ahead to the next song, usually at a consistent spot in the song. I've tried deleting them off the iPod and transferring them back in many times, I have tried restarting the iPod, as well as completely restoring it. My iPod is also updated with the latest software...

Go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ and then click contact iTunes Store Support. Then find your issue in the categories and then it will most likely take you to a page with suggested things to do but also on this page should be an option to e-mail them. Just explain your problem and also have the names of the songs that you are having problems with listed in the e-mail so they can help you more quickly. They usually get back to you within 24 hours.

Anyone have any ideas or did my wife and myself just get defective phones?
Like I said all songs and podcasts start  like 30 sec in them jump back to the intro then to the end then the middle. Its quite crazy.

  • Why are my itunes-synced songs and pictures are incomplete (corrupted) when transfered to my iPhone? E.g. songs start from somewhere in the middle and glitch continiously.

Why are my itunes-synced songs and pictures are incomplete (corrupted) when transfered to my iPhone? E.g. songs start from somewhere in the middle and glitch continiously. This is a big problem which means all my windows -> iphone pictures are half black or glitched on the iphone. Also my songs are completely glitched. I have tried resyncing and different USB-ports.

Same problem on Iphone 4s AND windows 7.  Really annoying that I can't have any music on my brand NEW device.

  • Truncated Songs - Stop Playing/Skip to Next before the Song's Over

My AAC/protected AAC songs are stopping, or skipping to the next song, at about 10 seconds from the end.
I have singled this out to songs purchased during 2007 & 2008. Songs purchased earlier do not exhibit this behavior.
My entire iTunes library has been recovered from a crashed hard drive this weekend. I initially had trouble getting iTunes to import/"add to library" these 2007 songs, then I found a link to describing how to re-create the library: <docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93313>. Following these steps made the 2007 songs playable, but now they are all shortened.
For the 2007 songs, I have one album that I burned to CD & reimported as MP3, in late 2007, before the disk crash. All songs (AAC and MP3) now show the same playing time, but the AAC's stop/skip before the end. The MP3 all play to 0:00 before stopping/skipping.
Any ideas what to do, or whom to contact, to fix this problem? Many thanks...

    Hi Scott,
In my experience, the songs that are skipping may not have transferred over to your iPhone correctly. I would advise you to uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes (so there is ultimately no music syncing to your iPhone).
Once you have done that, recheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes once more. This will instruct iTunes to completely remove all music from your iPhone, and then copy the files once more. If you have a large amount of music, this initial sync may take a while.
If the above does not resolve your issue, see the following articles:

  • Songs skips to next song before completing.

I have tried the 5 R's and deleting the songs that skip and reloading them to the IPOD Nano. Some songs play for a few seconds then skip to the next song. Other play about half way through. The songs play fine on the computer. Any suggestions?

    iPod skipping songs?
For those of you who get zero playtime from songs (i.e. it doesn't even start the song before starting the next one) try this:
    Resetting the iPod
and if that does not work, this:
    Restoring the iPod
For those of you whose songs are skipping after getting partway through the song, two questions.
Did you rip these songs from CD's you own? If so, try reripping the affected songs.
Are the songs that are skipping iTMS store files? If so, we'd like to know the following, because there may be a problem with the song file:
1.) Song Name, Album, and Artist
2.) iPod Model (iPod mini [4 gig or 6 gig], iPod Nano [2 gig or 4 gig], iPod [size and generation])
3.) iPod firmware (this can be found under Extras>About>Version)
    Thanks,
    JC

  • Songs stop playing randomly in the middle of playback

I just upgraded to 7.6, and now I can only listen to between 5 and 30 seconds of any track before the audio just cuts out. It's as if someone pulled my headphones out of the computer, but it happens when I'm just using PC speakers, too.
    * The song continues to "play," that is, the progress bar continues to move forward without any audio actually coming out.
    * If I drag the progress slider a bit, pause the song, restart it, or jump to the next track in the list, the audio restarts for another 5 to 30 seconds.
    * If I don't touch anything, when the song gets to the end (no audio), it will progress to the next track. After about 5 seconds, the next track will play for a few seconds before cutting out.
    * One of the stereo "sides" (left or right) will cut out before the other one.
    * I have the latest audio driver.
    * I have the latest iTunes.
    * I have no third-party plugins.
    * I have enabled "Maximum Hardware Acceleration"
    * The "Sound Enhancer" in iTunes is off.
    * I have the latest version of DirectX
This is incredibly annoying. What's up?

Gosh, guys, thanks for all the great help.
It's the Cisco Systems VPN client. Whenever it's connected, anytime another program makes a noise, iTunes stops playing music.

Not a new problem, it seems.

  • Songs not transferring - stops in the middle

I recently restored my iPod to the factory settings after having problems with the 1-10-2006 update. After putting the 6-26-2005 updater back on, I began filling my iPod back up.
I have 8564 songs in iTunes, but the iPod only had room for 8345 of them and created a separate playlist for these 8345 songs. After it had transferred about 7500 of them, it suddenly stopped (the top of iTunes went to the apple instead of showing the progress bar and how many files had transferred). The iPod continued showing the "Do not disconnect" sign. After waiting ten minutes, I shut down the computer so the "Do no disconnect" sign went away and I could unplug the iPod. I went to look at the 7500 transferred files, and only ONE album actually made it onto it.
So, what's going on? What did I do wrong? Why is my iPod still kicking my butt after I wiped the 1-10-2006 updater off of it? I'm going on vacation tomorrow and would be devastated if I didn't have my iPod with me.

I've had this problem with a purchased song but never a ripped song. I think its an encoding problem with iTunes. One poster suggested converting the song, which kind of tells us that its something to do with the encoding. I can't remember the song that this happened with, some Tom Petty tune. But I do remember this, which is strange, this happened on my Touch but not the iPhone with same song.

  • Starting Songs From The Middle Of The Song

Sometimes when listening to iTunes or my iPod, I skip a song while it is in the middle of the song. Why is it that this information is then saved so that when that song is selected next, it continues from the exact point that I skipped ahead at the last time I listened to it?
Is there a setting so that all songs will automatically start from the beginning no matter what when they are selected?

Ya, go to the song in iTunes, select it, do a Get Info and then under Options there is a check box for Remember Playback position. You will likely find this checked. Uncheck it and you should be all set.
You can select multiple songs at the same time, go a Get Info, then at the bottom there is a pull down for turning this ON/OFF for the whole groups of songs. So you could select your whole library if you wanted, Get Info and then turn it off for all of them to be sure.

  • Why is it when I play my music it would stop in the middle of the song?

I bought music from iTunes and everything was great and normal until a couple weeks later when I decided to play my music again. For some strange reason whenever I play a song it stops right in the middle of it. It pauses itself and I would have to keep pressing play over and over again. I don't ever recall getting water on my iPad or anything. I have no idea what the cause could be. I updated my iPad and did what I could from my knowledge but nothing is working and I thought its time to hand this problem to the experts. Is this iPad broke? Do I have a strange bug? :'( idk but I'm sad and need help

The file is most likely corrupted.
You can delete the song from you iPad then resync your iPad.
Or if that doesn't work you can try to delete the song from you iTunes Library and redownload it from the iTunes Store.

  • Videos starting in the middle of their play length

    Hello
I have a video playlist on my ipod, and i like to watch it, but my problem is that most times the video won't begin at the start because I've pressed menu or next in the middle of it.
My question is, is there some way to get the videos to start at the begining? the problem is that they're in a sequence, so it ruins it when one doesn't start at the begining.
and if there's not, how do I get them to play at the begining besides watching them?
    thanks in advance.

from Itunes, get info for the file, then choose not to remember where you stopped... hope that works

  • Skips to the next song while in the middle of a track (in Shuffle mode)

On some tracks, my iPod suddenly skips to the next track when it is in shuffle songs mode. This seems to happen randomly in the middle (or close to the beginning...e.g. 30 seconds in) of tracks, and I can't figure out why it isn't playing the whole track. Suggestions?

I imagine sbonewicz looked at a couple of the More Like This threads listed in the panel on the right and found a solution there, such as this one...
Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the corrupt tracks from your iTunes library, close and then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unchecked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.
