Songs slowing down

Before the update all my imported MP3 songs played perfectly. Yet ever since I installed the latest update my songs start playing, but then suddenly slow down and speed back up again after about 10 seconds. I thought it may be the songs but it slows down in different parts each time I play my music, its completely random. Sometimes I wish I couldn't even play the music like some.

I don't know why your iPod/songs are doing this, but it might be doing this because you are shaking the iPods HD(Hard Drive) while you are running/jogging. Considering that it does not do this when it is just sitting on your lap.
It is not really good to run with the iPod video(5g iPod)because it has an HD. It is not good because while you run at the exact same time the HD is being moved around(which is not good). If I were you I wouldn't run with the iPod. If you really want to run with your iPod then you should probably purchase the iPod Nano because it doesn't have an HD.
But that is just my opinion

  • Songs slowing down when I type

I'm running iTunes 7.7.1 on a new computer. iTunes had no problem on my old one, but on my new one, the songs slow down when I type, which is rather annoying, since I listen to music while, you know, typing. I'm on WinXP Pro, and everthing else is working great. Any ideas?

What tools, Mostly I work with iWeb using iPhoto, Aperture, Photoshop TeXture Adobe FormsCentral for Acrobat etc. making and editing Web Sites. Often I have many Apps open simultanously.

  • Will 6,000 songs slow down my macbook 2.2ghz?

    Hi
I've searched for an answer for this with no luck yet.
My macbook is 4 months old, it's a 2.2ghz and has OSX 10.5.2.
I haven't installed my itunes library from my old computer yet: it has about 6,000 songs.
I like how fast this macbook is and I don't want it to slow down just because of songs. Will my macbook still run as fast with the library installed?
    Thanks in advance!

Will my macbook still run as fast with the library installed?
    Yes.
The only time the songs will slow it down is if the hard drive is full (as in very little space left) but it won't because they are songs. It will be because the OS does not have room to work on the HD.

  • Itunes music slows down randomly during play

    First, my system specs.
    CPU- AMD Phenom 9850 Quad @ 2.51ghz
    RAM- 2GB Adata ddr2 800
    GFX- ATI 4870 Radeon pci-e 500MB
    SFX- Creative X-Fi Sound card
HDD- 80Gb, 250Gb, 500Gb, all sata2. (the 500 has all my music files)
OS - Windows XP SP3 (It was doing the same thing in SP2)
Itunes version 9.0.2.25 (version upgrade didn't fix)
I have gone through and upgraded all the device drivers to be recent (in december). I've been dealing with this problem for a little over 8 months now that I can remember, and the driver upgrade didn't seem to help.
Now the problem is that itunes is what I use to listen to music since it syncs with my ipod. But, this only happens in itunes (and recently on my ipod) not in windows media player or in winamp (or media player classic if I just play one song).
It happens randomly. Some songs will play without a hitch a dozen times without a problem. Then I'll come back the next day and the song I was listening to the other day will slow down in the middle of the song. At first I thought it was distorted, but after it happened once or twice, I figured out that the song itself slows down dramatically so that the pitch is dramatically lowered. So much so that certain higher pitched long notes will sound like one long awful bass note. This will continue for a few seconds (it varies. Anywhere from one second to several seconds, up to at one point 10 seconds.)
Sometimes moving the song backwards by clicking on the progress bar will fix it. This hasn't always worked though. Some songs seem to stay distorted and only fix themselves randomly. This is especially true on the ipod, where it seems a slowed-down song stays that way indefinitely. Admittedly I don't listen to the ipod as much so I may be off on that since it happens so infrequently. Though there are songs that play slowed down every time on the ipod (there is a messhugga song that keeps doing it only on the ipod for instance).
It should be noted I don't run anything in the backround of windows. Here is a list of my task manager while running itunes.
    system idle proccess
    system
    svchost.exe
    svchost.exe
    svchost.exe
    svchost.exe
    svchost.exe
    svchost.exe
    svchost.exe
    spoolsv.exe
    smss.exe
    services.exe
    lsass.exe
    explorer.exe
    csrss.exe
    winlogon.exe
    wscntfy.exe
    itunes.exe
    Processes: 18
I do run a game pretty often (and listen to itunes as a backround) and I do browse the internet using firefox, so add to that list WAR.EXE and firefox.exe. Whether these are up or not does not seem to matter. The songs slow down with them up and with them closed.
My 500GB HDD has 60GB of space left on it, but erasing/cleaning up the disk or defragmenting it hasn't seemed to help. My itunes library has 55.90 (8940 songs) in it. Cleaning up the library and removing excess duplicates didn't seem to fix the problem. I did move the library from the 500 to the 250, but moved it back when the same thing happened after a few days of playing music.
My RAM doesn't max out, though 2GB is a bit low these days. The WAR.EXE process uses .800-1.4gb (800,000-1,400,000k) of RAM, and the rest of the processes seem to keep well under .400gb max total. itunes stays around ~.064gb (64,984k). And remember, firefox, warhammer online, and the rest running at the same time doesn't automatically cause the slow down. And it slows down whether they are both up or neither are randomly (I listen to itunes sometimes for long periods while reading or painting). I also replaced my RAM fairly recently (other stuff went bad) but the same problem persists.
Lastly, this has happened on my ipod. The problem is that it seems permanent on the ipod, whereas the itunes on my pc will correct itself (seemingly) the ipod version will not correct itself until I sync the ipod.
I have completely removed itunes twice (as well as gotten rid of the registry entries and loose ends using CCleaner). I have deleted the itunes libraries and let itunes create brand new ones. I have upgraded to the most (at the time) recent version of itunes. The problem persists
I may be missing something. I hate using winamp and windows media player, so I haven't just stopped using itunes. But the real problem is that it is so random it's nearly impossible to test. I've tried several different methods of fixing this without tearing down itunes and re-coding it And every time, I THINK I've fixed it only to have it happen again within a week. Hence why this has been a problem for well over 8 months now. It's a small enough issue that I'm still listening to music without loads of problems, but it is a persistent, if infrequent, annoyance.
ANY help you guys can offer me would be greatly appreciated, though I'm not holding my breath since the problem is so weird. But I am willing to try anything if it might work. I can only try them out till they don't work, right?
    Thanks ahead of time.

  • 3rd Generation Nano playing songs slow with static.

I have a 3rd generation Nano and I have noticed that it has been songs a bit weird lately. It is not every song but rather every few songs. What happens is the song slows down with some static too. I equate to a record playing on a slower speed than it should. I am not quite sure what is going on...please help.

The songs were purchased from iTunes therefore I do not believe that they are corrupt. May I ask how a song can be corrupted?
I am assuming that a visit to the Genius Bar is order, correct???

  • Is my 23,000 song library slowing down my computer?

    Hi guys,
I have 23,000 songs on an external hard drive, and I wondered if iTunes writing the library file every once in a while, or any other cause, could be considerably slowing down my computer, why, and what I can do about it.
    Thanks!
    Alec

    Alec:
As I understand it, unless you were playing all your songs at once, your 23000 songs take up disk space, but don't slow down your computer. When you are running iTunes, importing music, or burning to CD iTunes will take up CPU capacity. You can watch the activity monitor and see how much of CPU capacity it takes up. If you don't find your computer underperforming in any way, you are fine. If you do, the cause is very likely elsewhere.
    Good luck.

  • When I play my Ipod shuffle 3rd gen there's a moment when I start hearing interference until it stops playing, when I turn it off and on again it starts playing from the first song all over again, and once it sounded like the music was slowing down.

My Ipod shuffle 3rd gen starts playing songs with some kind of interference until it stops playing, when I turn it off and on again it starts playing from the first song all over again, and once it sounded like the music was slowing down.  First I thought it was the earphones, but I exchanged them for newer ones and so far its the same

You may want to do a Restore on the shuffle in iTunes.  The Restore button is on the shuffle's Summary screen in iTunes.  This will erase the shuffle, re-install its software, and set it to default settings.  If it's a software or data corruption glitch, the Restore should fix it.  After the Restore, reload or resync your songs, and try it again.  As a test, you may want to initially select a small number of songs to put back on the shuffle.

  • Songs are slowed down after I save them in Garageband

I am new to recording and macs altogether so bear with me. I am running an MBox 2 as my USB interface with Garageband into a Macbook Pro 2.16GHz. When I record, everything works fine and I'll save it. Then when I open it again and listen to it, the playback is much slower than when I recorded it but in the right key. I'm not sure if I need to reset the tempo or what, but I can't seem to save any song and then reopen it without it being slowed down considerably.
    Any thoughts?

I am in the same boat as you, but with a tad bit more experience. Have had an MBP for about 2 months now, MBOX 2, and do a lot of recording with GarageBand.
Something that I have come to understand is that recording software such as Garageband or Pro Tools (which I use occasionally) has to retrieve files that are on the HARD DRIVE in order to play them back, while they are being played back. Therefore, if one did not know that HARD DRIVE speed was important (which I did not), you're a bit out of luck. There are two speeds of hard drives optional on the MBP, one is around 7000 and one is around 5000, unfortunately for me, I bought the 5000, and so playback is sometimes slow, and its frustrating.
Here's what I would suggest. First, export what you have of your song that is slowing down into iTunes and then play it. See if it plays back in iTunes at the speed you recorded it.
If it does... Go to the optimizing garage band performance page and do everything in all steps. Free up any available hard drive space you can (don't delete anything necessary but do what you can)... turn bluetooth off... leave all other applications off. .... All of these steps have helped me out a ton and I am able to mix at the speed I recorded.
If for some reason your problem is different from what I've experienced, lemme know and I'll look into it.
    Peace

  • Song just slowed down and died - can't reboot, can't charge...

Ipod is dead - while playing, the song just slowed down completely, warped like a dying cassette tape player, and then froze. Nothing on screen. Tried to recharge - pc doesnt' recognize, no icon on ipod, rebooting many times doesn't work.
Is there any hope? Is this symptomatic of a dead-in-the-water battery or a shot disk drive? I'm traveling in India for another month so can't send in for service until I return to US...any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tryed Charging the device for atleast 20min since this problem?
    If yes,
Try to Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds.
If the device still does not respond. You should try to restore the phone.
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force device into recovery mode.

  • Slowing down a section of a song

How do I take a piece, say, 8-12 measures of a song and slow it down to zero, like the power being cut on a record player?

You can use Speed Fades. Just create  regular fades, then you go to the inspector box. Fade Out itself is a pop-up menu. Click on it and select slow down.
Same applies to fade Ins. You can turn them into Speed ups.

  • My ipod jumps, skips and slows down while playing songs. It is very annoying.

My ipod jumps, skips and slows down while playing songs. It is very annoying. Is it fixable??????

I have the same problem. Often, the songs worked perfectly fine before, even the previous day! Changing the format does not help either, nor does restoring iPod settings. In another case, a song WILL work after settings are restored, but after a few plays will return to its old state of making the ipod reset.

  • Ipod starts to update songs, then slows down ...then wont udpate at all :(

I know this might be previously posted, and if it is I'm sorry but I couldn't find it!!! I have reset factory settings, saved songs and completey erased itunes and started over...It still happens though. I have 725 songs exactly, but it seems like when it gets around 500-515 songs (not one inparticular) it slows down and wont hardly load anymore. Most of the time it freezes and I have to start over, which doesn't help either. PLEASE ANYTHING PLEASE???

  • Can i slow down a song

so i have a few songs on itunes that im learning guitar on.
I was wondering if theres a way that while im listening i can slow the tempo of the song down without destroying the originol?
    thank you

You cannot change the tempo of a song in iTunes, but if your Mac came with GarageBand '11 preinstalled, you could slow down the song in GarageBand.  And you could record yourself playing while playing along the backing track.
    Create an empty GarageBand project.
Drag an iTunes song from the Media Browser to the Track area of GarageBAnd.
    Show the Editor in GarageBand.
Enable "Follow Tempo and Pitch" for the track with your song.
Then change the tempo in the LED display.  Your song will no play with a differnet tempo.

  • Will my iPhone 5 slow down if I fill it up with songs?

Hi everyone, I used to have an iPod touch 4th generation, I filled it up songs until I had 3GB left, all my applications crashed. I was wondering, will that happen to my iPhone too? I have a 32GB iPhone 5 and I have like 20GB of music. I was supposed to get an iPod classic, but I read some reviews, that were saying that it was bad... Please help!

If storage is getting near the maximum capacity any device will slow down, it wont go to slow on the iphone as the iphone has more RAM than the ipod.
    Thanks
