Songs that cannot be played?

I imported an album that I purchased and when I tried to add the album to my ipod it said it couldn't because the "songs could not be played" why is this???why does it only do that for some cds? This one is not burned or ripped or made from a downloading program, it's a real cd. HELP PLEASE

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
In iTunes go to edit-->preferences and click the advanced tab. Click the importing tab under that. Set import using to AAC Encoder and set the Quality to High Quality. Click OK.
Right click one of the songs that won't transfer and go to convert selection to AAC. Remove the original from the library. See if that converted video transfers to your iPod.

I have also noticed that the Ringtones and Alert Tones are not showing up in my recent purchases as well to allow for me to place them back on my phone and there for require for them to be purchased again... I've discovered that all tones purchased will be downloaded as ringtones, BUT they can be utilized as tones and assigned as alert tones on the iPhone...

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Since I upgraded to iTunes 11.01 the "Smart" playlists feature no longer works. I can CREATE the list but, the songs that I have played don't accumulate in the list. I haven't changed the steps that worked for me previous to the upgrade. I have no idea

Click on a station and drag to the left. The playlists sidebar will open up. Drop on the playlist you want to add to.

I recently purchased a couple songs that do not play completely. The songs stop midway through and also, when I try to progress the song through the slide bar on the player it just skip to the next song. Is there a way to fix it?

Delete the current copies and then download again (free) from your purchased history. If the problem persists contact iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history.

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those songs and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

Remove ALL Songs that cannot be located

I have a large itunes library with thousands of songs that now have the Circle Exclamation Point next to them (cannot be located). The ! does not seem to be a filterable column - so I cannot group and remove (using Shift click select approach).
I want to do the following:
1) Ensure all unlocatable songs have been identified and marked with the "!"
2) Select them as a group and delete them.
I tried putting the entire library into a single playlist and playing the play list - assuming each song would be "checked" - no luck. As soon a the play list hits the the first song with an "!" next to it - playlist stops.
Please help me (windows 7 - no mac scripts)

In addition to the tip above these tools will help find files that have been moved/deleted/lost from iTunes and need adding back into the library (or permananently deleting).
*Adding new items/removing orphans*
Try iTunes Folder Watch or iTunes Library Updater. Folder Watch is much faster on the adding files front, can be set to run in the background and includes a useful exclusion feature, however it’s really slow at removing orphans. iTLU is better for this although doing it manually after looking at a list of proposed removals generated by Folder Watch is probably faster still. iTLU can also be set to update iTunes when you've used 3rd party tools to change tag info.

How do I delete unauthorized songs that won't play in iTunes?

I recently just downloaded all of my purchases I've made from my iphone, onto my itunes on my macbook.
I've also noticed there are songs that are in dull grey writing (not the solid black) so when I click on them nothing happens, I can't delete or play them at all. So I clicked "get info" and under summary it says it's not available.
It lists the song name, and album, and size, and whatnot.
Except I can't do anything with it. I have duplicates of the song too, one which works (solid black, clickable, etc) and then one that doesn't do anything (grey font, can't click, can't play, can't delete, etc)
How do I get rid of the songs/information that aren't working???

If only some of the songs on an album are giving you the authorisation message, that suggests those song files are damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

My iPod announces the current and previous songs that have been played when I touch it.

For some reason my iPod 6th generation announces the current song or album being played AND the past or last album that was played when I touch it. How do I turn off this feature?

I am having trouble with songs that will not play completely through.

I am having trouble with songs that will not finish playback. The songs play about 75% of the way and then stop mid-song. This is true for my PC and songs transferred to my iPod. I have redownloaded (and repaid) for one song to see if that helps, which it did. But that can become expensive as I am starting to find an increasing amount of songs that are haaving this problem.

Take it to a genius bar. It's probably something with the magnets.

One song in a complete album that won't play, all others play, but this one says that it's not authorized to play on my computer and to enter password for apple id, which when done, says it is authorized to play on this computer and 2 others, but still won't play? What gives?
