Songs will not transfer

I have songs in itunes playlist that have exclamation point next to it and these songs will not transfer onto my itouch but they did transfer onto my nano. Anyone know how I can get them onto my itouch?

Hi,
Right click and "Get Info" on these tracks, see what it says, it sounds like the file location has been changed or folder renamed etc. Therefore iTunes cannot locate them.

  • After a sync one song will not transfer to phone

After a sync one song will not transfer to phone in any playlists, what is wrong?

I don't know what happened. I plugged in the phone today (like I have done just about every day) to sync and charge and the movie transferred this time. I have no idea what changed between now and last night. I haven't even rebooted either the phone or computer. Go figure. As Gilda Radner once famously said on SNL as Rosanne Rosanadana, "Nevermind".

I also subscribe to anouther podcast with the same station and it transfers just fine. I have update my classic ipod allready. Any troubleshooting suggestions would be helpfull.

Change the music videos Media Type to Music from under the videos Options tab of the Get Info window in iTunes.

  • Previously purchased iTune songs will not transfer to new hard drive on my

computer. I authorized computer through iTunes after hard drive installed and received message it was successful. When I connected iPod to sync, I then received message that items won't copy because computer not authorized. I then deauthorized and authorized again and received message it was successful. Then I tried copying again and received same message that they could not be copied because computer not authorized. Is there any other way to copy them to iPod?

It may be that the song album tracks are not checked. iTunes will not sync unchecked tracks.
Right mouse click on a track in the album if it shows Check Selection at the bottom of the popup than select Check Selection. Repeat for the other tracks. You can select all at once and still select Check selectiom.
    The Album should now sync

  • New computer - songs will not transfer from IPOD

Ok....I know that this is probably a common issue but I have a new computer running iTunes 7 and Windows Vista. I cannot seem to transfer my existing music files from my IPOD to my iTunes 7.0. I have attempted to drag and drop, use Consolidate Library, etc. I am not automatically syncing music because I do not want to lose my entire library of music on IPOD. Can someone help?

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and was written long before iTunes 7 and Vista so it requires a little adaptation as the iPod preferences are no longer in the location described for instance also it won't transfer playlists. However if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated that will let you transfer individual tracks then there are a number of third party utilities that will do what you want. You can use these to retrieve individual music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, check for Vista compatibility as they may not all have been updated yet. Some of these are free and some are commercial but generally they are not very expensive. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

  • Some recently purchased songs will not transfer over to my new ipod nano. Why is this happeneing?

I just got an Ipod Nano 7th generation. Most of the songs that I had in my library will sync over with some exceptions. I just purchased two songs for my old Ipod touch and when I try to sync my new Ipod with my old library, those songs aren't even recognized. That's amazing considering I bought them from the Itunes store?

Well usually syncing or dragging should work. I might be able to help but it could be a bit fiddly. You could get your music from itunes and put it into a seperate folder out of i-tunes then drag it into your ipod from there? I'm not sure but you could try.

  • New hard drive and some songs will not transfer from my list in iTunes

I recently had a new hard drive installed on my computer. After that I purchased a few new songs and plugged in iPod to sync. Then I received message that 27 songs I had previously purchased and had been on my iPod were "items in iTunes not copied to iPod because not authorized to play on this computer." These songs are no longer visible on iPod but 10 or 15 songs are still there that had been there before. How can I get the missing songs onto my iPod again?

Go to the "Store" menu in your iTunes main window, and drag down to "authorize computer". This lets iTunes know that you're new computer is okay to have access to all previously purchased music.
    Hope this helps...

  • Songs will not transfer. Help!

I just got an ipod from someone who no longer had the CD, but told me that it would work with my computer. It's updated with the newest version, but when songs try to download it says that it cannot send information to or get information from the iPod. Is there anyway to fix this? Help!!!

First off, if you don't already have it, download and install the latest iTunes 5.0.1
Then download and install the latest iPod Updater, then restart your computer.
Run the updater program, connect your iPod when prompted (not before), and follow the set up procedure, and you should be good to go.

  • Trying to create a new playlist but several songs are marked with exclamation mark and will not transfer into playlist - any advice?

I have never had trouble creating playlists before but quite a few songs will not transfer and ate marked at the side with an exclamation mark.  I know ZERO about technology so if you can help me in very simple language, I would be very grateful!  I am wondering if it may have something to do with the fact that I have had to start new accounts when I have moved countries, on order to be able to use the credit card of the new country in the Itunes store of that country... I am in Aus and have bought a lot of tunes here but last year I was living in Brunei and, in order to use my brunei credit card ( as it was the only one with money in it) , I had to set it up as different to my Aus account.  Could this be the issue?  prior to Aus my account was in Ireland.  I have paid for all these songs but it seems I cannot now use some of them... Please help!!!  Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer, Lisa

The exclamation mark next to a song means it is no longer where iTunes is looking for it. iTunes won't let you add such "missing" songs to a playlist. Possible reasons for a song going missing are that you or some third party software has moved or deleted it, or a folder that contained it, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter, or a configuration file has changed making iTunes look in a slightly different place from before.
Select one of the songs with an exclamation mark, press CTRL+I to Get Info, say no when prompted to locate it, then note down the location from the Summary tab that begins file://localhost/ - please post back this path as given. Hopefully you can find the file this entry in your library is supposed to be connected to. Assuming you can please post back this path as well. These two items of information may suggest a fix through folder manipulation or a configuration change.
If things have got a little more disorganized then, as long as the tracks still exist to be found, my FindTracks script should be able to reconnect them to iTunes. FindTracks uses some fuzzy matching routines and searches for multiple potential locations. For more details see this thread. Start by selecting the tracks of a single album and then run the script. Your media folder should normally be detected automatically, e.g. as C:\Users\<User>\iTunes\iTunes Media, but you can edit the path if it is wrong or a particular batch of lost files are stored at another path. If it works as expected you can then move on to fixing the rest of the library in bigger batches.

  • I got a new ipod and i tried to transfer my songs but some of the songs will not work on it

I recently bought a new ipod and i tried to transfer my old songs from my old ipod onto it, but some of the songs will not transfer even though i bought them through itunes. do you know how to fix this problem?

So you are saying that some songs do sync to the iPod from this iTunes library, right?
What is the source of the non-syncing songs? What is the format? Is it different from the songs that do sync?

  • I updated itunes and now my songs will not sync from the computer to ipod

I just updated my itunes software and my song will not transfer to the ipod. I tryed a new port but tha seems unlikly because itunes does reconize the ipod it just will not update the songs. I restarted the ipod that did not work so i updated the installed software and refreshed the ipod noe I have no songs because it wiped out the ones that were there from the old sync. I have tryed doing a manual update as apposed to the automatic update but that did not work either. I have tryed turning off my anti virus software but that did not work??? any ideas?

Ive had the same problem and I restored my i-pod then when i hooked up the i-pod it said it was full and asked If I wanted it to select a few songs to put on, i clicked yes thinking It meant it would just put my selected songs on but then it put 675 songs out of the library on when i only have 67 checked. they play wether tehyre checked in the Library or not, is there any way to fix this?

  • CDs I put on my itunes will not transfer.

So last year my old computer fried and I got a new conputer. I installed itunes and had some CDs that I wanted on my ipod. I imported the CDs and then synced my ipod well now those songs will not transfer onto my ipod. The only songs on my ipod are the ones I bought. I am not sure what to do and hope there is a solution.

    Try here:
Some songs in iTunes won't copy to iPod
Did you import the CDs via iTunes?  If not what did you use?
If you "Get info" for thos songs, what is specified for the purchaser?  Is the iPod signed inot that accout (if applicable).

  • I have purchased actual ring tones, not songs or MP3s, RING TONES.  They used to be on my Iphone but when I got a new laptop and downloaded new ITunes, they are showing up in Itunes in RINGTONES, but will not transfer to my iphone. They are checked. Help?

I have purchased actual ringtones from the ITunes store.  They were working fine on my Iphone 3 before, but I got a new laptop and the new version of ITunes, and now even though they are listed as ring tones on my ITunes, they will not transfer to my Iphone.  (Please do not tell me they are songs and not ring tones, they are definitely RING TONES!)  Can anyone help me with this?  Thanks.

Use the Transfer Purchases command in the File menu of iTunes.

  • I have bought itunes songs on an ipad with my daughter apple id. i would like to back them up on the same computer I sync my iphone with using my apple id but they will not transfer. Both iphone and ipad have only been synced on the computer mentione

I have bought itunes songs on an ipad with my daughter apple id. i would like to back them up on the same computer I sync my iphone with using my apple id but they will not transfer. Both iphone and ipad have only been synced on the computer mentioned since they were purchased. Is there any way to get the ipad music transferred to the computer?

And they were definitely purchased from the iTunes store, they show on the account's purchase history (Store > View Account on a computer's iTunes, or you can view the last 90 days purchases via http://reportaproblem.apple.com) ?
You could potentially log into the account on that computer's iTunes (Store > Sign Out to log out of your account, that will then change to a Store > Sign In option) and redownload them by clicking on the id towards the top right of the iTunes screen and Purchased on the popup :
But that will potentially tie that computer to that account for 90 days : Manage your associated devices in iTunes - Apple Support
Or do you have a different computer that you could redownload them on and then copy them over to that computer via a flash drive or memory card, and then add them to its iTunes via File > Add To Library ?
