Songs with several artists

I recently switched to iTunes cause i bought an iPod, but something I miss about Windows Media Player is that you could have a song by two artists, lets say YYY and ZZZ, so in the artist part you'd put "YYY;ZZZ" and it would detect it has two artists, so if you wanted to hear songs by YYY, that song would appear, as well as if you chose just song by ZZZ. In my iPod there would be an artist entry for each different artist YYY is with, so basically i cant play all the songs by one artist with one click, i'd have to use the On the Go playlist or something... In iTunes at least i can use the Search and it works out pretty well, just cause it finds whatever has whatever i looked for, not because it knows the song has that artist besides another one for example. So my question: is there a way, like a punctuation or something, that lets iTunes AND iPod detect songs with several artists? If there isn't, how can i contact the iTunes people to suggest this improvemen, its ridiculous, but i havent found a link or anything to contact them!

Unfortunately there isn't a way to do that. With iTunes songs can only be associated with one artist (or one genre or one album ...). If you enter both artists, with any form of punctuation (i.e. YYY;ZZZ), iTunes will consider that as an artist in of itself and not see any connection with the artist YYY or the artist ZZZ.
If there isn't, how can i contact the iTunes people to suggest this improvemen, its ridiculous, but i havent found a link or anything to contact them!
Unfortunately, again, if you click on the iTunes link for Product Feedback you will be taken to a page headed Request Music. It has been suggested in these Discussions, though, that Apple will consider other suggestions concerning iTunes that are submitted here.
Just don't hold your breath waiting for a response. : - (

Grouped with artwork view separates songs with featured artists

When I am in the group with artwork view of my library, any song that has a featured artist is separated into a separate section. For instance, if track 7 is a duet, it will have a second section with the album cover art and that track below the section that all the other tracks are in. I want it to just show the full album without pulling any out just because it has a featured artist etc. On the list view, it doesn't appear separately. Can anyone help?

When I drag music from a folder that contains songs by different artists and then sort by date added it shows the songs in alphabetical order by artist?

When I drag a bunch of songs with different artists from a folder on my computer to the itunes library and sort by Date added it puts them into alphabetical order by artist. I am able to workaround this by using date modified. Why does itunes do this? This started happening in July. Prior to that never had this problem. Been adding my music the same way for almost a decade.

They are added in the same minute. I do not see the second area next to that if it should be. I'm guessing an update to a newer itunes build is responsible. It's a shame. I am using the sort by date modified. But now whenever I modify a file in Itunes it automatically moves it to the top of the list. I am trying to keep the newest stuff at the top of my itunes.

I've imported several CDs that are "collections", with songs by various artists. Only a PORTION of the song info appears in iTunes, and, when a song is "clicked-on" to play it, a message appears that the "song could not be found". Any ideas ?

The CDs are imported into the "iTunes Media" folder, under "Compilations". Each CD has a folder, with the name of the CD. However, EACH SONG in the folder is assigned a sequential number as a prefix before the song's name. For example "2-1 Sunshine of Your Love." This prefix, I believe, prevents the song from being imported into the iTunes library. The song's name appears in the iTunes library (with the number prefix), BUT no other song info (artist, CD name, time, etc.) shows in the iTunes library. I am NOT designating these CD's as "complilations", but somehow, iTunes is arbitrarily assigning them to this "Compilations" folder, and then assigning sequential numbers to each song. I am confused. (My only remedy is to MANUALLY remove the prefix number from each song in the CD folder, within the COMPILATIONS folder, then "re-import" it into iTunes. Cumbersome.) Thanks in advance for any opinion, tips or guidance.

The numeric prefixes in filenames are probably the optional disc number, followed by the track number. iTunes will pick up the Compilation flag from the Gracenote CDDB database if you ripped the tracks with iTunes, or the flag may have been set earlier if these are existing tracks you have imported into a new library. The iTunes naming convention is <Artist>\<Album>\[<D#>-]<T##> <Name>.<Ext> where Album Artist is used instead of Artist if not blank, and Compliations is used instead of Artist when Part of a compilation is true. Empty Artist or Album values are replaced with Unknown Artist or Unknown Album respectively. With Windows, file and folder names are limited to 40 characters. If more than one file is added with the same details subsequent tracks get suffixes to separate them.
If iTunes can't find a file that usually means that it has been moved after it was added to the library. Select a single broken track and press CTRL+I to Get Info. Look on the summary tab at the location that iTunes expects to find the file. Where is it really? Post back both paths and I might be able to figure out what has happened, and suggest a fix.

Yeah I would like to create a Playlist with the by me best rated songs of selected artists i know i can have playlists with multiple artists but that is only possible if i tick match any so that it takes all the songs of those artists and if i select match all there is no song in the playlist...

It is a little tricky, but it can be done by using nested rules. The playlist pictured below will do what you want: all songs by the named artists, as long as the song has 4 or 5 stars.
Note: The ellipsis ("...") button is used to nest a rule. It appears automatically on Windows, but on the Mac you have to use the Option key.

It sounds like you might have broken links to your content. Either repair these by putting the files you've recovered where iTunes expects to find them or delete the broken entries then go to iTunes Store > Purchased > Music > Not on This Computer, and click the download links.

iTunes CD printing has been broken for several releases now. Some people have had success by directing the iTunes print output to a PDF file, and then printing the PDF.

Sorting songs on an album with multiple artists

Im trying to sort an album with multiple artists so that in the artist view the song appears under that artist like this:
The song Young and Beautiful is from The Great Gatsby soundtrack but as its by Lana Del Rey and im in the Artist view I want it here with the rest of Lana Del Rey as opposed to Various Artists. I moved it here by clearing the "album artist" section in the info tab for the song.
However when I do this and change to Album view, the song doesnt get sorted with the rest of the Great Gatsby soundtrack, istead it is like this:
How can I have the songs from an album with various artists sorted by Artist in the artist tab and then properly sorted by Album in the Album tab. Ive been playing around with it for a while and I cant work it out.
Can anyone help me out?

have you tried to mark the album as a "Compilation" album? Then the songs should sta togeeether in the "Album" view.
Have you seen iTunes: Grouping Tracks Into Albums ?

Searching by artist name does not show songs with artists name in song title

If i search by an artist's name in itunes, it does not display songs by a different artist that have the artist's name in the song title, such as remixes that have a parenthesis, then the searched artist's name after with no space in between, like it used to. For example, I searched "Munchi" (artist name), and it showed songs listing munchi as the artist, but not songs with munchi in the title. In the old itunes, if I searched "munchi", the list of songs would include the song Chicken Lover (Munchi likes 'em fried moombahton remix), which is a song by the artist "bassanova", but now that song and songs like that (remixes) in which the artist im searching has their name in the song title but not as the song artist, are not included. This is a serious problem for me as it leaves out alot of songs which the searched artist has collaborated on out. In the old itunes i would get a list of any song which had the word "munchi" in any field, whether or not the word munchi had any letters or symbols before or after it.

Severe flex timing issues: song with varying tempo

I've been having a ton of trouble with flexing a drum track on a song with minor tempo changes (The song speeds up at the first chorus, and at the outro, so I programmed those into logic's tempolist so that the metronome would follow). Every time I turn on rhythmic, Logic speeds up the tracks (the wavefiles go green where the tempo change begins, and end much sooner than the files which are not being flexed). The only way I can get them to revert is to turn flex time off. It is driving me crazy as I only need to correct one minor thing, with a deadline approaching.
Incase it will help more, here is what I have done.
-Grouped drums together.
-clicked editing and phase locked audio
-turned on flex
-clicked slicing
-Logic analyzes the files
-suddenly everything is out of whack.
Is it something I'm doing wrong, or is it a bug in the system. Is there any way I get get Logic to analyze the files again? Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

I bounced and replaced all tracks, analyzed them again, and everything is working fine. Has anyone else experienced this bug?

Playlist with one song from every artist

How can I create a playlist that contains one song from every artist in my library? I don't care what song it is, but it needs to have one from every artist. I assume I would use a smart playlist, but I can't find any options for this. Thanks!

HT5637 My Ipod Touch 4 with IOS 6.1.5 (new to me) is not associating all my albums with the artists. All the music is there, it's just not in the right place. Can you help an Apple novice?

I'm new to this so please forgive me if I'm not using the correct terms. My ITunes version is 11.1.3.8. For years I had an IPod Classic and it worked perfectly with all my music where I wanted it. Unfortunately, it was recently stolen. I bought a used/wiped clean 64GB IPod Touch 4 loaded with iOS 6.1.5. I've tried to load my music twice and both times I'm getting the same odd results While everything is properly associated in ITunes once I load and sync the IPod Touch there are several albums that are not associated with the Artist. I'll explain further. I prefer to sort my ITunes library and IPod by Artist. So when I pull up some (not all) Artists on my IPod Touch some Albums that should be there are missing. I say they are missing, they are there. The total song count on ITunes matches that on the IPod Touch and if I sort by Album name, I can find the album that does not appear when I sort by Artist. The reason I want to fix this issue is I appreciate a wide variety of music and I can envision me looking for an artist and not finding them and not being able to remember the name of the album. The Rolling Stones are easy and I know how many albums they have an how many I have. Smaller groups that may have only one album are more problematic. Unless I randomly come accross the song I might never be able to find it or listen to it. I know lots of people have more music than I do so I'm not bragging, but my library has 414 different artists spread across 1402 albums and I can't always remember what I own. Speaking of owning, I own the physical CDs for the vast majority of my music so I don't think it's a situation of previously ripped music not showing up or not being formatted correctly. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe your iPod may be set to group albums by album artist, which is a setting that can be turned off in your music settings. I will provide a link below that can help illustrate where to find this setting:
