Songs won't all go on iPod, 5th gen 30 Gig

When I try putting all my songs on my iPod, either by dragging and dropping or syncing, they don't all go on; iTunes copies about 250ish and then just stops for no apparent reason. I restored the iPod and re-downloaded iTunes, but this still happens. Any ideas?

Yeah, but when I do it, besides the fact that the songs just mysteriously stop being copied, iTunes acts normal; the iPod is still on the list, I can play songs off it or iTunes, stuff isn't deleted, I don't get any errors... it just stops copying.
Is there I way I can just copy + paste the stuff from my music folder to the iPod? I know that there's a bunch of folders called F01 and F02 and stuff (I don't know why, though) in the iPod's music folder if you can acess it in "My Computer", but do you really have to do that? Also, do you really have to make the filenames 4 (apparently) random numbers/letters?

Actually, sometimes (rarely), when it stops, and I tell it to sync again, it seems to be struggling to put the next song on, and it just stops again, and I have to tell it to do it about 10 times before it puts that song on. But usually it just puts on a few hundred songs right away after I tell it to sync again. But I've played the song in question and scanned it and stuff and it doesn't seem to be corrupt or anything at all. I hope this helps... I really just want to get the stuff on my iPod. God, I wish I didn't restore it in the first place... >_<

  • OH yea! Freaking out iPod 5th Gen 60 gig!

My iPod has a mind of it's own! Backlight turns off and on when it wants to, volume goes up and down on it's own at any time, trying to select any artist/album/song/genre etc. etc. is a task all it's own as you can't get the blue bar to settle the **** down! What's up with my iPod? Can anyone help? I've done all the "restore to factory setting" answers and still it's living a life of it's own.
    Thanks so much in advance!

Sounds like you have a defective click wheel that makes the iPod think you are constantly touching it.

  • Ipod 5th gen, video 30bg, will sync/restore, won't play

I am running Windows 7, with all updates (as of 3/14/2014) have itunes 11.1.5.5 showing no available updates. When I plug into the USB port, the ipod gets recognized, Itunes starts. I can see the files on the ipod. I have reset the ipod and restored. Same problem. When I drill down to the actual file I want to listen to, it doesn't play. On the screen the icon changes from pause to the arrow for play, the index line never advances. You can hit the select button, use the scroll wheel to advance through the file, and hit play again, but no noise. There isn't noise if in the dock (which other ipods and iphones work with in the house) there is no noise if the headphones are plugged in. i was thinking harddrive, so I replaced it. couldn't get the new one to function. When the new harddrive was in the unhappy face would come up. I could force into disk mode, in hopes of restoring it, but in disk mode, neither windows and hence itunes would recognize it as an ipod. I put the old hard drive back in thinking maybe I damaged the cable, but it came right up, but with the same problem, it won't play the sounds... I replaced the Zif cable just in case, still the same...
i've sure seen lots of Ipod 5th gen video for sale on Ebay, compared to the 4th that I had, which I broke the scroll wheel cable on, but never had such problems with it. Any thoughts out there from someone who might know what it's doing? It seems weird that it loads the music files, and deletes the music files but won't play them. The only other thing I can think of perhaps is the battery too low to spin the hard drive up to play? It does seem to be a very small (physically) battery compared to the 4th gen... but it is thicker...
When I got it it was doing the low power thing, so I did all the steps to re-charge, and restore, but it won't play the files... Thanks for any thoughts!
    Jesse

It sound like you did some good troubleshooting.  Thanks for providing the details.  I don't think a problem like this is related to the battery.
With a 5th gen iPod (early version) that has a 30GB hard drive, it may have problems using a larger capacity hard drive.  That may explain the different problem you had when you replaced the hard drive, if you changed the capacity.
Try the following test.  Do another Restore from the iPod's Summary screen in iTunes.  At the end of the Restore process, choose NOT to sync anything automatically.
Go to the iTunes Store and download a free song.  You can find the current free songs by clicking Free on iTunes under QUICK LINKS, on the iTunes Store Home screen.
Manually load that ONE song on the iPod.  Disconnect iPod and try to play that one song.  Does this same problem occur?

  • My iPod 5th gen won't charge:'(

As stated in the tittle my iPod won't charge. I have looked at a lot of the similar posts but none of them are helpful. I can NOT get into DFU mode, I HAVE read both iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting and iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery pages, I HAVE tried another cable and another wall charger, I HAVE checked all connections/sockets on the iPod, cord, and wallcharger for debree, rust, or other forign materials, and I HAVE tried plugging it into my computer.
Just for clarification, my sister has an iPod 5th gen with the iOS 7.0.4 and her iPod charges on both mine and her cable/wallcharger/computer BUT my iPod does not charge on any combination of those. The nearest apple store is 1hr 29mins from me (I checked!)
Usually computers and tech do not elude my deductive skills but this has me stumped! Please help! Any of such is greatly appriecated!

Mine had been fading for a while before the warranty was up, and then became mostly unchargeable in the eleventh month.
I took it to a Genius bar where they were able to test it and swap it for a new iPod touch.
Just make sure you have done a very careful backup before you go, I have had weird sync problems after the swap, getting my stuff back.
I suggest the simplest method is to clear off just about everything you can, especially the photos. Less to chase when things go pear shaped.

  • My ipod 5th gen won't change volume when headphones are plugged in, but when they are not I can change the volume on the speaker.  How do I fix this?

My ipod 5th gen won't let me adjust volume when headphones are plugged in, but when they are not I can adjust the volume on the speaker.  How do I fix this?

Try a hard reset of the Nano. To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
I assume you have double checked to make sure you are plugging the headset all the way in meaning the white part of the headset is flush with the body of the Nano?

  • IPod 5th gen 30gig won't charge and isn't recognized by iTunes

I recently replaced the battery in my iPod 5th gen because I thought that was the problem.  This fixed things temporaly and my iPod turned on for this first time in a long time.  However, now it won't charge or hook up to the computer.  I think this may have been the problem all along.
The charging port seems to be in good condition and pretty clean.  I have tried resetting it and resetting it while connected to itunes.  I also disconnected and reconnected the new battery.  I left it plugged in for sometime but it hasn't charged.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I really have no idea what the problem is at this point.
    Thanks

I suspect that you have a completely dead battery.
i got this ipod about a year ago
If you mean 11 months, a battery replacement is under warranty but $30 shipping and handling. If you mean 13 months, a battery replacement is $59 + $7 shipping.

  • My iPod 5th gen won't turn on!

My iPod 5th gen was working fine last night and after charging it won't turn on with power button today. I'm not able to reboot using home button and power button simultaneously because my home button stopped working couple weeks back and I was using touch screen for home function. Any suggestions on how I can reboot without the home button working? Thanks!

  • My iPod 5th gen. doesn't have a back camera. Can I trade it in for one that does have a back camera? If I can, can I keep all my pictures and have them switched over to the other one?

If you purchased it from Apple within the last 14 days then you can return it for a full refund. otherwise no. If you purchased it elsewhere you have to check with them.

I have seen the Apple webpage suggesting the "five R's" (including restore).  Before doing anything, I want to be sure that restoring or any other action is not going to delete or risk my data.
I would be very grateful if anyone can suggest a fix for this problem, in a way that will not risk my data.
    Thanks in advance!

Did you try a hard reset with the iPod still connected to your PC?  Have you tried multiple USB ports, preferably high powered USB 2.0 ports?
To do a hard reset, first make sure the hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Have you also worked through each and every single troubleshooting suggestion in this Apple support document?

    Hi NYYJMM,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You may want to reset your iPod nano and then sync again. If the issue persists, restore your iPod and try again. See these articles for the steps:

  • IPod 5th Gen Won't Connect to Chargers

So I've had my iPod 5th gen with iOS 7.1.2 for a little over a year now, and recently I noticed it wouldn't connect to any chargers I had. I went online and bought a brand new lightning cable to find that that would not work either. Then I read about cleaning my charger port to get dust out, and I did that getting large amounts of debris out of there with a toothpick, but it still will not charge properly. The only way I can get my iPod to charge is to bend the cable (even the brand new one) in a certain direction. Can anyone help me?
