I too got one for Christmas. I went to the website and found the manual there http://www.si5.com/pub/v55_Manual.pdf. It doesn't have the "typos" that are in the manual that came with it. I find that if I use the remote control everything works well. If you have a specific question, let me know.

  • Sonic Impact Video 55 for Ipod

I bought this Sonic Impact Video 55 player for my dad for Father's Day for his Ipod (80GB) and he is having trouble seeing the videos on the screen. The sound is great he says, but he can't see the video. He did everything according to the manual, but he's still having problems.
Any suggestions on what to do?

    Try this.
On your iPod go to "Videos / Video Settings".
Then select "TV Out" and either set it to "off" or "ask".
Also, make sure you are accessing the video through the videos menu. If you have a video mixed in an audio playlist and you access it through that, you also won't be able to see the video.

  • Sonic Impact VIDEO-55 Compatiblity with Vista.

I spent the better part of two days trying to find out how to downgrade the ipod classic software to 1.0.2 so I could use the Sonic Impact VIDEO-55 using the Vista OS.
Everything in these two posts are still in effect but the files locations are not
    applicable to Vista.

You have to go to control panel and into folder options and show hidden files and folders.
Then you can swap out the ipod firmware files in....
    C:\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates
Hope this saves someone a few hours of their life.

The Sonic Impact Video55 is compatible with the Classic and new Nano iPods, but it is not compatible with the Touch iPod. The directions for use with the Classic and new Nano are as follows:
To enable your “Classic” or “Nano 3G” iPods the ability to watch videos on your Sonic Impact Video55, please follow the steps below:
Step1) First update the iPod to the software version 1.0.2
Step2) Then switch on the TV Out option.
step3) Place the iPod in the Video55 dock and switch the Video55 on and play a video.
Step4)At this time, you will be viewing only the blue screen.
Step5)Now go to the Menu on the Video55 and change the source from iPod to Video and then back to iPod. It will now play videos. Any control of forwarding the video or going to the next video you will have to use only the next/skip button on the iPod.
This worked with my Classic 80G and my friends new Nano.

  • IPod Video/Sonic Impact Video-55

Merry Christmas Everyone! I have a iPod Video 80 gig and have been ripping my videos at 320x240 (H264) with 2 pass encoding and the widescreens I have been ripping @320 and then cropping the sides to get close to the 240. They have looked great on the iPod! Now that I just got the Sonic Video-55 with the 7 inch screen (480 234 output resolution) they really don't look that good. Does that mean I should start ripping at 480x234? If I ripped at 760 would the quality be better or will that make the image even smaller in height? Does anyone have the Sonic Video-55 and if so what settings are suggested for very good quality?

    Thanks anyway

  • Sonic Impact VIDEO-55 - Video aspect switching???

In reading some of the reviews of this product, it appears that some of the newer models may allow switching between 16:9 and 4:3. However most of the older versions did not.
Is there any way to tell if the ones being sold online at the Apple store allow aspect switching?

I recently purchased the latest version of the SI-V55 that eludes to aspect switching but in reality the 'Native' aspect ratio is fixed at 4X3 and when 16X( is selected, they stretch the image, distorting it, to give the illusion of 16X9.
I can not watch a dis-proportional image so I just keep the SI-V55 set to 4X3 and turn widecreen on and off on my V-iPod as needed when viewing ws content. I have a lot of waisted screen but it is better than the distortion...
I purchased it from Apple - I wish they had tested it before offering as it as a 'trusted' product. Apple should make SI fix the problem instead of faking a solution!

  • Ipod 80GB Video will no longer work on sonic impact V55 player

Sonic Impact has a message that due to an Apple software change I must purchase a Composite Video Cable for the video to work on the V55 player. The apple rep at the Genius Bar said this cable will not work since it has three cable to connect and the V55 has a single AV connector. How can I make my player work?

I even tried the RAM extension trick..MUST be YouTube..

  • Ipod Touch and Sonic Impact if2 speakers

    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can help?
I recently bought an Ipod Touch and tried to play music through my Sonic Impact if2 portable speakers, i got the message stating that charging was not possible through this device. I did some research via the net and found out that charging must be through a USB now but that music should still play through the speakers. I have resolved the charging issue now by purchasing a USB wall adaptor thingy and the ipod touch now charges when docked on the speakers, but i still don't get any music through the speakers. The speakers work perfectly with the ipod nano - Any ideas?

Where did you find the adapter? I've lost my AC adapter for my i-F2 speaker, and can't find a replacement. Thanks for any assistance!

  • Trouble docking 6 gen to Sonic Impact i-p22

  • IPod Nano & Sonic Impact iFuson-2

    Hi,
I just bought an iFusion-2 portable speaker system as a gift, to go with a 2nd generation Nano. I purchased it from an Apple Store.
In spite of advertising both in-store and online, the new iPod Nanos do not fit in the unit. Sonic Impact would have to create a new adaptor for it.
Apple and Sonic Impact should rectify their misleading advertising and alert customers.

I just brought my i-F2 home only to find the same problem! The adapter doesn't work because the port is recessed. You can still use it; it's just that the sleeve does slide all the way into the port.
I agree completely, Fusion needs to make another adapter for gen2.
Were you able to get the remote to work? I can power up and change the volume. But I can not use it to skip tracks.
Can anyone recommend a speaker system with similar quality that works with the 8G gen2 Nano?

  • Sonic's Video 55 with iPod nano

I've been trying to use the Sonic Video 55 with my iPod nano (3G) and can only get music videos to play. When trying to play movies that I have ripped or purchased, I just get a blue screen even when following Sonic's "Using iPod Classic / Nano 3G with Video 55" instructions.
Also, I can never get the Music Video I select to be the one that plays, when it returns to the "iPod" source, it shuffles to another song.
    Anyone having success with this?

    Try this.
On your iPod go to "Videos / Video Settings".
Then select "TV Out" and either set it to "off" or "ask".
Also, make sure you are accessing the video through the videos menu. If you have a video mixed in an audio playlist and you access it through that, you also won't be able to see the video.

  • Recommended video players

I have just bought a new 160gb Ipod classic (cheap - but deliberately as I record all my CDs as lossless and want to store a lot of videos also). My grand plan is to buy an Ipod docking video player with a 7" plus screen for my unfortunately too frequent plane trips. However when researching the options it seems that the 160gb classic has some sort of video output restriction that the earlier 5th gen Ipods didn't have - meaning the classic won't work with some of these devices - without using AV cables. (I have read some clunky workarounds that suggest this a deliberate Apple software ploy)
Does anyone have any comments / recommendations for players.
    Thanks
    Neil

Well, I've done some more research and I've decided to get the Sonic Impact Video-55. It's not immune to the problem, but I've read that if I downgrade my iPod classic software to version 1.0.1, I can use the iPod in the video-55 with some nifty button pushing. I found the 1.0.1 files online, did the downgrade and the iPod works just fine as an iPod.
I've ordered the Video-55 ($55 new on ebay). When I get it I'll post back.
Another clunkier solution if you have the $50 Apple cables with the chip in, is to start the video on the iPod with with the cable attached, pause it, attach iPod to your player of choice, press play and it will continue as normal.
I can't speculate out why Apple have done this - unless they have grand plans to produce their own iPod playing device, but speculation is against the terms of these forums, so I that's why I can't.
    Thanks for your response.

  • "Please Connect Video Accessory"  help??

    Hello!
So I bought a Sonic Impact Video 55 player, after carefully researching to ensure that it would be compatible with my 3rd gen nano. I did everything that I was supposed to do, and I still can't get my nano to recognize it.
It'll play music just fine. But when I try to get it to play a video, it tells me to "please connect a video accessory". It may be worth pointing out, that I get the same reaction when I try to hook my ipod up to the tv.
    Any clues at all? Thanks!

Did your careful research happen to include the official site (http://www.si5.com/support_newnano.php)?
It says it won't work, which isn't that surprising, considering the V55 is older than the nano.

  • Video Player for Ipod Classic

Does anyone know if there are any portable video players compatible with the new Ipod Classics? I got a good deal on a Sonic Impact V55 player, but when I received it I soon found out that my new 80gb classic would not work on it. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

Nope, thanks MPAA. See here: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/news/comments/apple-locks-tv-out-in-new-ipods-b reaks-video-add-ons/
The Apple Store does list the MyVue goggle things as compatible, so you can watch videos on your ipod, look like lawnmower man and get a wicked headache all at the same time.

  • Video out on ipod touch

I have a Sonic Impact V55 Video that I bought for my iPod video but I now have a iPod touch. I can get the music to play on it but I was wondering if the was any way to play video on it with my iPod touch via the docking station or cables and what cable I would need for that.
    Message was edited by: samed27

unfortunately, as I just learned, the answer is no. apple has purposefully encoded the touch so that users are required to be a newer cable in order to view videos. furthermore, if you upgrade to 3.0, you will have to buy a different cable, exclusively offered by, you guessed it, apple...
