Sony A330 Raw Support

Is it possible to find out the timeline for when support for the Sony A330 raw support will be added to Lightroom? I thought it would be the same as the A300, but I keep getting an unsupported message when trying to import.

The Sony A330 is a new model that was only announced mid May 2009, which explains why it isn't currently supported. Whether it is supported in the upcoming Camera Raw 5.4 and Lightroom 2.4 updates is not something only Adobe can comment on.

  • Sony a55 raw support

    Hi,
Does anybody know hen I should expect iPhoto to support raw images from my new sony a55? seems rather odd as the NEX cameras has similar software and formats so i guess it must be a simple version number bump. Am I looking at a new version of iPhoto or a change to the OS, does the 10.6.5 upcoming build offer any hope?
    Thanks,
    Gerard

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
No one knows, I'm afraid, outside of Apple.
iPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback and let them know you want it.

Not at all. The Raw from every model of camera is different. Note: that's every model not every brand. So, the NEF produced by a Nikon D40 is not the same as the NEF produced by a D60, the CR2 produced by a Canon 350 is not the same as the CR2 produced by a Canon 400.
Therefore the Raw for every camera model needs to be added individually.

  • RAW support for Sony A330

    Hi
Does anyone know how to get RAW files from a Sony A330 open in Aperture 3?
Or does anyone know of a timeframe when Apple will include this?
If I can figure this out then I am definitely buying a copy.
    Cheers

Im not sure but i suspect aperture will support sony raw files. Aperture will only use raw if it has the option. If you import some images you can see on the very top right of the metadata panel if it is jpeg or raw. i had a minolta and this is now sony and aperture supported that. so go for it! Allan

  • Sony a700 dSLR, iPhoto RAW support

I recently purchased a Sony a700 dSLR. jpeg files import into iPhoto without trouble. I want to try to use RAW files but they can not be imported. The camera supported list has the Sony a100 but not the a700. Is there a plan to support the a700 in the future on iPhoto or Aperture.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
No one on this board has any idea what Apple's plans for the future are. It's a user-to-user forum.
RAW support is a function of the OS, not either application.
Let them know you want it though:

  • Sony NEX-3 Raw Support

How is it possible that Aperture 3 does not support the raw format of the Sony NEX-3 camera? It's one of the hottest DSLR available right now do to it's compact size and has been on the market for nearly 6 months. No RAW support?
I'd rather take my camera back than have to switch to lightroom which added support 3 months ago…
Any suggestions? Anyone else have this camera? What can I do? I need a temporary work around, I MUST shoot in raw.

You could batch convert the files with Adobe Camera Raw to DNG, or maybe the software provided will convert them DNG for you. http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/
I currently have a bunch of files that I converted to DNG from NEF when I was using Lightroom, and Aperture 3 reads them just fine.
I know its a extra step, but until apple release a update to their RAW engine its a solution.

This is only a users forum - you will have to ask Apple that question

  • Will Aperture 3.6 eventually provide raw support to Sony a5100

I have an iMac running OS X Maverick 10,9,5, and currently use Aperture 3.5.1 with all of its latest RAW updates.  I am considering updating to Yosemite to get Aperture 3.6.  I note that so far 3.6 does not provide RAW support to the Sony a5100.  Lightroom does have RAW support for this camera, and I can get Lightroom and keep Maverick.  However, I like Aperture and would like to continue using it.  But will the new version on Yosemite ever get RAW support for my camera?  I also see from other posts that many are having problems with both Yosemite and with Aperture 3.6.  I would need some reassurance before taking the step to a new OS X.  I need some advice about what to do.
    Thanks

But will the new version on Yosemite ever get RAW support for my camera?
We cannot tell you this, but any new Raw Support will most likely only be available on Yosemite.
The latest Digital Raw Compatibility Update was only for Yosemite, Aperture 3.6, and iPhoto 9., see:  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1777?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
I need some advice about what to do.
Upgrade, but don't burn your bridges. I'd keep a full TimeMachine backup or a bootable clone of your system as it is now, so you can easily revert to the previous version.

  • Sony alpha 900 raw support

When Aperture will support the Sony alpha 900 raw files?

Anybody that knows is under NDA and won't be talking. Apple typically takes a few months to roll out raw support for new cameras.
Fortunately, you can convert to DNG and use the raw files from your A900 that way. Adobe's recently released DNG Converter v4.6 includes the A900, D90, and 50D.

  • RAW Support for Sony

Any idea when RAW support for the Sony Alpha 330a will be added to Aperture 3? I would have thought that most all late model SONY's use the same RAW specs, but I cannot import my RAW pictures at this point. Thanks

    Sonyman,
only Apple knows the answer to your question.
If I had to guess, I would say it is likely that the V3 will not be supported. That camera was announced in August 2004; chances are that Apple will add support for RAW format of new cameras before they worry about old ones.
Then again, that is only my guess.

  • Raw Support, Sony A7ii on aperture?

Anyone know if there are plans for a RAW support update including the SONY A7ii?  Or could the current RAW that already supports the A7r and A7 be compatible?
    Thanks-

Raw support is specific to the camera model. You just need to be patient. Sony Cameras are generally supported, but it takes time.

  • TS2518 sony RX-100 Raw Support

Does anyone know the Sony RX-100 going to be supported by Aperture, I've got V3.4.1 and the camera has been out since June/July, so im surpised its still not updated yet?

Sorry, we don't know. This is an user-to-user forum; only Apple will know.
The new raw support ussually comes with the next software upgrade and bug-fixes.

  • Sony A77 raw file support

I looked up here http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html and saw that the support of Sony A77 raw file is there. However, after I bought and installed the aperture, it does not support the raw file.... iMac OSX 10.7.2 and the aperture is the latest one.

I actually did the camera raw support 3.9 update but I still can not open my a77 raw files.
I find out that the problem is, all the raw files I imported into Aperture before I did the 3.9 update
are still not supported. All raw files imporrted after the 3.9 update installed can now be viewed and edited.
    Thank you for the answer

  • HT4757 RAW support for the SONY RX100?

Anyone know when will Apple be adding RAW support for the SONY RX100?

Unfortunately this is a user forum, so no-one can answer that one for you.  You can use the feedback option in aperture to request it though.  More than likely it wont come until Canon or Nikon release some more DSLRs, which is usually what prompts an update.  For what it's worth you can use the Adobe DNG converter which will convert the sony .arw file into a .dng file that Aperture can read.  It is another step to your workflow but you can do it.

  • RAW Support for Sigma Merrill and Sony RX-1

When does Adobe expect to be able to provide RAW support for the Sigma X3F files produced by the DPxMs and the SD-1/SD-1M?  I am also interested in RAW support for the soon to be released Sony RX-1 Cybershot FF camera.  Thank you for the time and response.

Thanks for the information.  As you can probably tell I haven't posted here before.  It's where Adobe's FAQ section sent me to "Ask a Question."  Therefore, I thought it was the place Adobe looked to for feedback on what customers wanted.  I'm not sure why future camera support should be such a secret.  In the case of the RX-1, I suspect they will have it fairly quickly as there will be many phtographer's asking for it.  In the case of the Sigma's, I suspect that since the cameras have been out for a while now that they are waiting to see how much demand there is for support.  The DPxMs are receiving very good reviews for their image quality and it is well deserved in my opinion.  I haven't seen the output from any camera that can match it for detail below the Nikon d800 or the Canon 5D MK III and even then it is very close at ISO 100-200.  I was surprised at how good 800 ISO can look with these cameras when the tif file is processed in LR 4.2.  A comparison of the .jpg processed for best image and the .tif processed for best image in LR 4.2 both at 50%.  The .tif cleans up very nicely while preserving significant detail.
