Sony A7II blue "halo" on LCD.

Hey guys, just updated to firmware on my Sony A7II to 1.20 (from 1.10) and I'm noticing something really strange that I've never seen before. My LCD screen now has this odd blue square taking up the entire center of the screen. I took a pic with my phone of my a7ii LCD turned on and the lenscap attached. You can see what I'm talking about. This shows up while reviewing previously taken photos as well, just this big blue discoloration on the screen. Picture of the problem. I know for sure I haven't seen this show up previous to updating today, because it discolors all the photos on the live view and would have been impossible to ignore when reviewing pics I've taken as I take them. What in the world is the issue here?

  • Lightroom 5 won't read my Sony A7ii raw files

Just got my Sony A7ii, shot some files and tried to import into Lightroom but it doesn't recognize the files???? They open in PS ARC just fine.

Which version of Lightroom? It should be supported in LR 5.7.1.

  • Raw Support, Sony A7ii on aperture?

Anyone know if there are plans for a RAW support update including the SONY A7ii?  Or could the current RAW that already supports the A7r and A7 be compatible?
    Thanks-

Raw support is specific to the camera model. You just need to be patient. Sony Cameras are generally supported, but it takes time.

  • Just got new Sony a7II.  LR5 will not import.  Plugin?

Is there a way to import photos from my new Sony a7II into LR5?

I think Saul is referring to the Sony A7 II, officially designated as the Sony ILCE-A7M2, aka Sony Alpha 7 II (I think Sony needs to hire some competent marketers).
Adobe Camera Raw 8.7.1 supports the A7 II, but you'll have to wait for the next release of LR for that support to be included.  Meanwhile, you can convert the raw files to DNG and import those into LR with the latest DNG converter: Why doesn’t my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?

    Dec 3 2011:
I bought a Sony BVD-780W 3D Blu ray  home theater in a box at Best buy, but can't display a 3D Blu-Ray on my Vizio  E3D420VX passive 3D TV.   After talking with tech support at both Vizio & Sony, but not getting a definite answer from either.
I can play 3D content using the Sony 3D online apps included with the home theater, so I don't think the problem is the TV or the HDMI connection.
Has anyone figured out if or how to play 3D Blu-Rays with a Sony 3D Blu-Ray player on a passive 3D TV?
There seems to be a communication stand-off between the TV and the Blu-ray.  Vizio tech support told me that as soon as the TV senses 3D input, it will switch to 3D mode, but Sony says the player will not play 3D unless it detects a 3D TV.
I wrote more about the specific situation on my blog and included more screenshots here: iCoolSpark blog.

Dec 4, 2011 - After my 2nd contact with Vizio tech support and my 3rd contact with Sony Support and some additional trial and error, I am now able to get the 3D Blu Ray to play with my passive Vizio 3D TV.
Here is the support request I sent to Sony Support (my third contact with them on this case - with personal info removed for privacy)
    Product Group: Sony
O/S          : Select Your Operating System
    Model        : BDVE780W
Question    : ref EventID #E####### I can't get 3D on a Vizio E3D420VX passive 3D TV from the 3D Narnia Promo blu-ray provided with my BVD-780W home theater.  I think the 3D TV & 10.2 Gbps HDMI connection are OK because I can display 3D content from the Sony 3D Experience online app.  The integrated 3D blu-ray player seems to require an active shutter synch signal from the TV before it will play 3D.  Is there a firmware upgrade planned to fix this limitation?
Here is the response received from Sony - which is very close to providing the answer, but not quite right, and not enough to solve the problem.
Thank you for contacting Sony Support.
I'm sorry that there in no 3D when playing back the 3D disc in the 3D Blu-ray Disc Home Theatre System. Based on the information you have provided, I suggest that you set BD output to 1080P. Please follow the steps mentioned below to set BD output to 1080P:
    # Press the HOME button.
    # Select Settings .
    # Select Screen Settings .
    # Select BD/DVD-ROM 1080/24P Output.
    # Select Auto.
    # Press Enter.
If the issue is unresolved, please contact our telephone support staff who will be happy to provide further diagnosis and assistance at: (800) 222-7669 or (239) 768-7669 Intl
Currently, I do not have any information on future firmware upgrade.

I looked at this setting when I received the above response, and found the BD/DVD-ROM 1080/24P Output was already set to "auto" . It didn't occur to me immediately to try setting it to "off", however, after 24 hours with no solution I decided to try turning that setting off to see what would happen, and guess what?  PROBLEM SOLVED!    Here is what the setting looks like on the screen.
Now when I play the 3D Blu-Ray, the menu comes up with 2-D or 3D.  I can select 3D, the TV auto detects 3D mode and I confirm.  I get a message to put on the 3D glasses and I'm watching 3D Blu-Ray on my Vizio!
I'm glad that my initial hunch about the blu-ray player looking for an active sync signal was wrong!

  • Sony a7ii and LR

I have updated my software LR 5.7 but still cannot import my sony a7ii files.  Help, please.

    Sherrydog wrote:
I think I may have imported 5.7 rather than 5.7.1 so will try again.  It should say 5.7.1 in the About screen, correct?
    Correct.
But make sure you have a destination location, a folder to place the images in, selected if you are importing from a memory card or directly from the camera, IE camera connected to the computer.
There was a post several days ago about no images showing up on import and it was because no destination folder was selected to Copy the images to.

  • Sony vaio blue screen

so i just got a sony vaio after best buy junked out my old laptop which was shipped out 2 times for repair for a total of 8 weeks.  I'm a college student, and this happened right before finals.  now, my new vaio is getting the blue screen at least 2 times a day, and I have midterms next week.  I called best buy and they said that they have to ship it out again for 6 weeks.  By that time its goin to be the end of the semester again.  Are there any other options for a quicker fix on the laptop?

If you can post the error message(if you can catch it) one of us can look it up and give you an idea as to what's causing it, and possibly if there's a fix.
Does it do it right at startup, or after it's been on for a while?

  • Blue screen after lcd change

After changing the LCD screen on my early 2006 20" Imac, the computer boots up to the blue screen only.

I have tried to start up from the installation CD, but the CD tray opens every time I start up the G4 and it just boots normally - screen with Apple logo and then blue screen.
It seems that they computer is not sending any signal out of the VGA. Perhaps it is sending the signal through the ADC - even though nothing is connected.
I have also tried disconnecting and reconnecting the VGA monitor several times.

  • Vertical thin blue line on LCD

Is there an easy fix to get rid of this line on my screen? it's about 3 inches in from the left of the edge of the screen, running the full-length top-to-bottom. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

It seems there has been quite a number of bad runs on the 12" powerbook and ibook screens, my powerbook did'nt have one, but it does now and it is usually a defective lcd panel
you can find lots of them on ebay for about 40 bucks that were pulled from ibooks. I bought a screen with a line running horizontally about 2in from the bottom to replace my original screen which was shattered. New screens are about 400$ so a little line does'nt bother me as much as not having a computer. That being said, I have seen this problem out there , and it stays with the screen not the computer. Also note the commonly defective model is a Samsung LTN 121S04-A2C2 these were in some ibooks. The powerbook screens are usually Philips LP121X04-C2 and have an inverter cable that is two inches longer, making it dificult to find a replacement unless you do'nt mind cutting and splicing wires.

  • Is camera RAW for Sony A7II supported?

  • Sony BWU100A blue ray drive?

I'm looking at getting this drive for my Mac Pro (primarily for use with FCP) -- does anyone know if it will work and if so, any specific details on install?
This drive is P-ATA/E-IDE. But OSX support is not specifically listed.
    Thanks, Rob.

There's no reason why it won't work, especially with Roxio Toast Titanium 8. I would however confirm compatibility with Roxio.

  • Pixelmapping to Sony lcd

I have a MacBook pro 13" and Sony bra via kdl-46v5100 LCD. I am connecting them via mini display > hdmi at 1080p60. The output looks terrible. The screen doesn't fill my LCD. There thick black borders. I have overscan disabled because I want 1:1 pixel mapping. My Sony LCD is set to full pixel. Some reason the MacBook pro isn't outputting correctly. It's taking the 1080p and scaling it to a lower res. Is there a solution? I tried switch ResX but the stings are too confusing.

The only thing I can see is that it operates at 120Hz and you're sending it 60Hz ?
And I assume you're using 'Mirroring' but, on a 13" MBP the maximum resolution is 1280x800 so that would explain why you're not seeing 1080 as it can't do that locally.
If you have an external keyboard and mouse try closing the MacBook Pro lid (clamshell mode) and then waking it with the keyboard or mouse, this might give you a different output (long short but could work)
