  • How do you process a RAW file ARW (from a Sony a7R camera) in Elements 11?

How do you process a RAW file (ARW) from Sony a7R camera in Elements 11? Elements 11 does not seem to accept a ARW file.

For editing of the Sony a7R raw image in Photoshop Elements Camera Raw need the following ingredients
    a. The Camera Raw version must support the camera that you are using, that is, the Sony a7R. Support for that camera did not come until Camera Raw version 8.3.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
    b. The version of Camera Raw must be supported by the version of Photoshop Elements. Camera Raw 8.3 is not supported until Photoshop Elements 12.
The choices would appear to be:
    a. Switch to Photoshop Elements 12
    or
    b. Use the DNG Converter to convert the Raw image to .dng
If all you have is Premiere Elements 11 which I do not think is the case, the Camera Raw plug-in allows you only to import the raw or dng image into the project for inclusion there - no Camera Raw dialog editing. But the same Camera Raw version - Camera Support - Premiere Elements version support still exists.
    Please review.
    Thanks.

  • IPod Nano LCD screen cracking/scratching

i am a possible, going to be nano buyer and i was wondering if anyone who is a owner has had problems with the screen cracking and/or scratching. Also this is a question for owners with the problem and APPLE if the screen gets cracked or overally scratched withing warranty will apple replace it with a new one? also for people in singapore is there anywhere that i can get a 4GB nano, as most places have said they dont have them. thank you
      Windows XP

The screen scratching issue is really going to depend on just how badly you treat the device. I don't know how the screens are getting so badly scratched, and in normal use I can't see anything other than normal wear and tear. My 3G iPod is the same - a few scuffs and scratches, but nothing to stop it working.
If on the other hand you place the nano into your pocket without a protective case, keep change and car keys in the same pocket, then yes, it WILL get scratched. If you drop it or drag it over rough surfaces, if you take a sharp implement to it, if you use abrasive cleaners on it... and probably loads of other 'ifs', you'll get scratches on it.
They are not indestructible and the LCD screen is not harder than diamond. Take care of your Nano and you should be fine.
Taking it back with scratches through normal wear and tear, or through poor care, will not get you a replacement. You would have to show that it was an actual fault with the Nano itself, and I get the distinct feeling most are fine
As for purchasing a 4GB model, have you tried the online Apple store?

  • LCD Screen cracked down the middle

My Iphone has what I think a broken LCD screen down the middle. It does not let me unlock the phone to get into the main screen because of that crack down the middle. The outside glass is not shattered or anything. I can only answer calls using my headphone devise but not make calls. Does anyone have any suggestions or do you know whether apple can fix it for free under the warranty. I don't recall dropping it. Thanks.

If it was like that from day one then thats was manufactured wrong and take it back to Apple.
If not then they could blame it on you as abuse, you will not be sure until you try..

  • Mac air 11 inch LCD screen cracked inside

I bought a MacBook Air 2012 11 inch model at the end of July, and the screen has a few blue lines in the morning. Then others white shades have followed horizontally and vertically and it now covers almost 2/3 of my screen. I went to the Icare service providers, and they asked for 20000 Thai baht ( equivalent to 700 dollars). I explained it is under warranty, but they said it is broken inside and it is not covered under warranty, but suggested me to call to Icare call service and send pics if they asked. If they said they will fix and under warranty, then the Icare service will fix it. The guy from the icare online asked all my information and now i am waiting his response. Have you ever experienced this ? Is there any Flat Rate options for my case since it is even under warranty. I am a student nd this Mac is my first Mac, bought with all of my savings.

Go to the nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider, and let them examine your machine to know if it would be covered under warranty. If they do not agree to cover, then telephone to Apple Care service you could easily find in the web page. There talk to the related department, explain your problem clearly.
In my case, I explained the problem carefully it was neither accident nor something happened to it. I only thought this would be a defect. Senior advisor asked for photos to take, and I gave him. From this point, I talked with that Senior advisor and his team. They denied it's a defect. Again, they asked me to send to the service provider, and ask the staffs there to take pictures and send to them again( perhaps this would be a double check). This time again, I was denied that it was a defect. They said this could either be an accident, perhaps happened without my knowledge.
At last, they rang me if I would be satisfied to just pay only the service fee(labor cost) with ( ZERO REPLACEMENT Cost) and that was it!!
If you are in Singapore, it would be the best chance for you. As far as I know all of their senior teams based there. Even my repalcement came from your country.

I cannot find any links on the apple website to help to get my Nano repaired. I've emailed the customer support people but no reply, I'am tempted to ring up the UK Branch.

  • 15'' Macbook Pro - LCD Screen Crack (Internal)

    Hi All,
Help me out with my issue here. I bought a 15'' mac book pro (retina display) an year ago and it is still under the initial one year warranty. One day, while browsing, my screen started flickering suddenly for no reason. There was absolutely no external damage at all. I took it to the near by Apple store and was told that it will be taken care of as it is still under warranty. The guy who was helping me out at the store verified everything for any kind of physical damage and he could not find any. He mentioned the same thing in his notes and told me that it will be taken care of within 5 to 7 business days.
Today, I got a call from Apple store saying that there is actually a crack inside and it's no more eligible to get it repaired under the warranty and told me that it will cost around $750 to get it fixed. I was never told about this verification thing by a repairing service company in any of the interactions I had at the store. This is totally ridiculous. Why would there be a crack inside without having any kind of (not even a little crack externally) external damage?
What should I do now? I am not at all convinced with the reason that they are coming up with now, especially after handing it over after complete verification for any kind of physical damage. There is a reason why some one would go for Apple and I think the customer service is one of those undoubtedly but after today's experience, I definitely have to rethink about it.
    Thanks in advance !

    Hi,
I also have exactly same problem. Apple service centre has given me written response that it's due to pressure. They have ALSO mentioned explicitly  that there is no external physical damage after complete inspection . I am not able to understand how can this be classified as abuse or accident when there is no external physical damage at all. They are insisting it's internal physical damage.  Can someone explain me how individual can do internal damage without a screech or any external damage ?
Just for background , my pro was working fine till yesterday and when I opened it this morning it had that internal damage. To me it's clearly manufacturing defect and should be covered under warranty.

  • LCD Screen cracked and ipod died....

I realize that under my warranty it's not covered. It's okay, I'm in the process of buying a new one. My question is: Is there a special place where you can send broken iPods? Or do you just throw them away? What is that black stuff that is behind the broken screen, anyway?
Also, I was wondering if there was a way to crack open the iPod and see what's inside. Is this a bad idea and I'm wasting my time?
    iPod Video 30GB   Windows XP

you could ebay the broken ipod. just tell them that its broken and sold as is.
the black stuff is actually the liquid used for display mixing together.
you can try to open it if you want. its already out of warranty. theres no longer any harm in opening it. or if you prefer, i'm sure theres pics on the net already if thats all you want to see.

  • 5S Interior lcd screen crack?

Recently found a black blot at the bottom left corner of the screen and also horizontal lines at the bottom. Since my phone was hardly 8 months old, took it to the authorised service center in Singapore(A LAB@PLAZA SINGAPURA), but the counter staff refused to service it citing the reason that it was due accidental damage. My phone has no visible scratch or damage what so ever. But, to be honest, I have dropped the phone couple of times in the past, no issue was found immediately that time and this one appears only for the past one week and I did not dropped the phone recently. I was bit surprised by the answer by the service centre and in future, even other hardware failure also could be attributed to the "accidental" damage. I have no idea whether it is really due to hardware failure or due to drop what was happened few months back and had "side effects" revealed only recently. Any advise?

Glass breakage is NOT covered by the Apple warranty .Sorry but that is it the service centre are correct
They would probably offer an Out of Warranty exchange unit
Please contact your carrier or an iPhone Authorised Service Provider for Out-of-Warranty Service Options.

  • Sony A7R RAW files

IS there an update for Elements 11 to enable the Sony A7R camera RAW file to be used within Elements

Your camera is quite new and will not be supported in PSE11. You could download the release candidate of DNG Converter 8.3 from Adobe Labs and convert your raw files to the Adobe raw format, to use in PSE11. Otherwise you will need to upgrade to PSE12 and await the next camera raw update.

  • Raw support for Sony A7r

Does photoshop elements 12 incorporate raw plugin 8.3 so that I can open raw files from my Sony A7r camera?

PSE12 ships with 8.1, and can be updated to ACR 8.3.
On Win7/8 this update is accomplished using Help / Updates in the Editor.
On XP and Vista, there is no updater but there is a manual process that can be followed.
I'm less sure about what happens on a Mac but I’d assume PSE12 on the latest OS will be ok receiving updates.

  • Damaged iPod Nano LCD screen

A while ago i found my Nano with the LCD screen cracked with no damage to the outer part of the nano, only the screen inside was cracked. I called Apple and they said that the damage was physical and that they will not replace it. I also read my 3-year store warrenty and they said that we have to contact apple because they will do nothing for it. This ****** me off because I payed $90 on a 3-year warrenty and the wont do anything for me. I was told to send in my Nano anyways but i dont know what i need to send in with the Nano and where I would be able to find an address.
Any suggestions on how I could get my Nano replaced or what I need to send my iPod with would be very helpful

If possible, I recommend taking it into an Apple store first. This way you can talk directly with a real person.

Before I fill out the request for service. I want to be able to figure out where I'm going to have to send my iPod
If you've had it more than 6 months, you will be charged $29.95 for shipping. Less than 6 months, it's free.
Apple will send you a box via DHL or FedEx.
Put your iPod (only-no accesories) in the box, put the return label on the box and call or drop it off with whoever delivedred it.

  • LCD screen on camera is splotchy. What is wrong?

I have a Cybershot camera, and I LOVE the camera, everything works fine, but the LCD screen is defective. It has been that way for a long long time, and I just never thought to contact you. Then I thought, it may be an issue you have heard before, and maybe there is a solution to fix or replace it.I spoke to someone through chat, and she did not understand what I was saying, and kept telling me to reset my settings on the camera. It has nothing to do with the setting. When the camera is in the off position, and you look at the screen, it is splotchy, the whole screen. I would love to send you pics of it for you to see.She recommended I pay to have it checked. I am apalled by this, as I feel it is defective, and a problem Sony should cover. This was not anything caused by me.

Though it would be in the camera bag, I wonder if something with enough force may have ever had contact with the screen, causing it.
For example, my phone has a flip cover and basic screen protector. I was carrying a bicycle on the back of a motorbike and using my thigh as support. I didn't realise that my phone was underneath - there was enough pressure to cause the top to crack and no longer work - the bottom of the screen still worked.
So just wondering if a case like this may have happened, it being dropped or something being smacked into it without knowing, crushed at one stage maybe, etc.
    Just a guess.
If this isn't the likely cause though, I can't think of anything else.
Was it like this on purchase, or something that randomly appeared and you noticed it?
Either way, a photo would help nonetheless.
Also, if everything works, you should be able to easily buy a replacement LCD to stick in there - replacing screens is very easy also as you don't need to go deep into the camera to do so.
This is an option if repair costs are too high - not sure if Sony can cover for it or not.
