Sony A7s. Problems conforming 59.94 to 23.976

Hello
I'm trying to Modify / Interpret the footage so it plays back in slow motion.  I've been doing this for years without a problem however this is the first time I'm cutting with Sony A7s footage. As usual I go into the browser control click the clip > modify > Interpret footage and change my frame rate.
This works fine on some clips and the other clips it looks like I just slowed down a normal old 24 FPS clip.... That ugly choppy playback where all the in between frames are missing.
So far the only distinguishable difference I can locate is the file format.  Below is a sample from two clips, the info is from the clip properties in Premiere.
Clips that won't conform properly
PRIVATE/M4ROOT/CLIP/C0023.MP4
Type: MPEG Movie
File Size: 1.6 GB
Image Size: 1920 x 1080
Frame Rate: 59.94
Clips that conform fine
private/AVCHD/BDMV/STREAM/00003.MTS
Type: MPEG Movie
File Size: 136.9 MB
Image Size: 1920 x 1080
Frame Rate: 59.94
It obviously doesn't like that .MP4 or M4ROOT
Does anyone have a work around or any technical explanation of what is distinguishing this .MP4 from others ?
Also I tried to conform in cinema tools but that doesn't recognize .MP4 clips and it won't open them.
Any help, advice or links would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Your post scared the crap out of me. Ive shot about 10 weddings using the A7s and all of it is shot at 60p in XAVCs and then edited on a 24p timeline.  Most of it is slowed down. I hadn't edited any of my footage from the last 10 weddings so I got scared that all those weddings would be choppy as you mentioned when it's slowed down. But, I just checked with a wedding I shot today (all at 1080p60 XAVCs (in that M4ROOT folder) on a 24p timeline) and it wasn't choppy on this end. Not sure what's happening on your end to make it not smooth slow-mo. Did you double check your sequence settings? I don't know. I have no idea what to tell you except that it "should" work okay. I do know that if I took a 60p clip and slowed it down 40% on that 24p timeline then I get the same smooth slow-mo result as doing it the normal "interpret footage" way. What happens if you do it that way? If that same clip was nested first and then slowed down 40%, it appears choppy. Sorry if I'm of no help. Just reporting what I see on my end.

I just bought a Sony A7s and I would like to download some of apps on the playmemories store.  Everytime I try to connect to the store it says incorrect date and time.  I tripled checked and I have the correct date and time and time zone everything.  I live in Utah, mountain time, daylight savings. • How to import AVCHD from Sony A7S to Premiere Pro CC 2014 on Windows 7

Hi, I'm a comparative newbie who just needs to edit some training videos shot on Sony A7S.
The adobe help documents suggest that PP CC 2014 can import .MTS files in AVCHD 25p format, but however I approach this it seems to come back with 'unsupported file' error.
I've tried importing direct from camera over wifi, downloading files to hard drive and then importing from there, downloading entire folders to hard drive and then importing from there... But nothing seems to work.
When I search online I get lots of seeming 'spam' about a variety of converters, is this what I am compelled to do?
I guess I'm getting something really simple wrong, I'd appreciate it if someone kind can tell me the error of my ways!

Thanks Neil, that's a great help.
    Just to clarify...
I'm currently accessing the camera through wifi, so it shows up in my windows explorer 'window' on the left hand side as an icon under 'Computer'.
When I double click that icon, I get a 'storage device' icon in the main window.
The recommended approach would be to drag and drop the entire contents of the storage device onto a folder on my hard drive - is that correctly understood?
Then I should access content through media browser window, NOT 'import' under file?

  • Lens correction on Sony A7s, LR 5.6

I am using a Sony A7s and LR 5.6 on my Mac......I see from the Lens Correction box in the Development  module, that when I enable profile correction, click on Sony I only get the choice of one lens showing up (not one that I have either). Back in the Library module the Sony camera shows up correctly in the metadata box and the focal length of the lens.
I realise that the 7s is fairly new and lenses in short supply but the lenses that I actually have DO show up on Adobe's list of supported Sony lenses.
    Any suggestions please...? Thanks

So disregard all previous.....! The lens correction profiles have suddenly reappeared within the LR develop module with a choice of Sony cameras, basic, E and FE plus the lenses....absolutely no idea why.

  • HELP!!! How to recover videos from Sony A7S?

Format a Sony card in the Sony A7S by mistake.I need to recover all of the Video files recorded before the accident. All recovery software couldn't recognise the video files. No files can be shown to be recovered.Even tried the Sony capture software. Can anyone help?Thank you.

Whatever you do, don't write anything new to the card as that will certainly destroy any remaining data. You will almost certainly need a video soecific program and may need to try many different recovery tools to get one that works. I had a similar issue and most failed, but I did find one that created MTS2 files from the MTS originals. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have it any more, although I will look again and see if I can track it down! It works at a command line level, rather than through the Windows GUI, if that helps you find it before me! In the meantime, my best suggestion is to keep trying as many free tools as possible, but I wouldn't pay for any.

  • Sony a7s frozen!!!! Please HELP!!!

URGENT!! My sony a7s is about 3 months old and has been working fine up until today. I am currently on a paid video assignment in the US and have gone to shoot some stills in M mode. I switched the camera to LIve view Display mode ON. And all of a sudden the camera dials - shutter, aperture, ISO, shuter button, menu button, play button, everything, have frozen, not responding at all. I have a shoot tomorrow and the camera is useless. Cant even shoot video or stills anymore. How is this possible??  The only way I can re enter the menu system on the camera, is to change the dial to movie mode. Which allows me into the menu system, but when I scroll to Live view Display setting, it is not highlighted and cannot choose it to try and get out of this mode. I have turned the camera off, removed the battery, recharged the battery and even reset the camera, but no use. Still completely frozen. How can this happen with a so called professional camera? Is brand new and was working fine. Please help!! Regards  Drew [email protected]@yahoo.co.ukskype: drewcox3+44 7855 369178

    Hi drewcox3,
    Welcome to the Sony Community!
Please test if Power Reset will solve the issue. Please make sure that the camera is in the Off position, remove the battery then switch it to ON for at least a minute. Turn off the camera afterwards and reinsert the battery.
Test if the camera will respond properly. If issue is still the same, I would recommend sending the camera in to
    http://repair-camera.com/SonyRepairHome.aspx for evaluation and repairs.
If my post answers your question, please mark it as "Accept as Solution".

  • Sony Handycam Problem

Last week I bought a sony dcr-dvd403 to videotape my daughter's first birthday party, which is now tomorrow!!!
It is a mini DVD, not a mini DV. The recording and finalizing go fine. The video plays on the camera. Then, I load the disc into the top loading drive I bought specifically to load the mini discs on my computer, and boom - just a bunch of files the computer can't open... The file extensions are .BUP, .IFO, AND .VRO.
I think the .VRO is the one where the video footage resides. Does anyone know how to convert it. After hours on the phone with sony (who doesn't promise that the discs will play in anything other than the camera itself) says to call Apple. Apple, said to check the discussion boards. You guys are my only hope! Thanks,
    Liz

I picked this up from a "dvspot" article by Jim Keller, and have used it successfully. By the way, I have abandoned my Sony mini-DVD camera and bought the new HD-HC1 high def camcorder because it records to digital video tape and has Firewire output, which avoids this problem. Keller's solution:
"So how do you extract the video? On my Mac, I used a program called OpenShiiva, an open source VOB-to-MPEG4 converter (there are other products like this out there). This turned the 13 VOB files into 13 MP4 files, which may be as far as some people need to go. However, Final Cut has no interest in reading these, so I had to open the MP4 files in QuickTime, and export them into DV format. Then I was able to import them into Final Cut, where they still needed to be split up into separate clips. I should add that Final Cut can read VOB files, but the sound does not get imported for some reason.
To tie things back into what I said much earlier, these DVD camcorders seem to be a "shoot and watch" system. Shoot, maybe delete a few things (assuming you're using the DVD-RW discs), and finalize. Serious video editors may want to steer clear of DVD camcorders because of all these added steps."
    Amen.

  • Workaround for Canvas.removeCommand Sony Ericsson problem wanted

Is there a workaround for this problem (Sony Ericsson Phones)? http://developer.sonyericsson.com/message/47012 It's about Canvas.RemoveCommand. When I remove and add commands old commands are sometimes left in the list of commands on the right menu button. I have a Sony Ericsson K610i. I added more repaint();'s only resulting in a list of 5 commands. The list i supposed to be 2 commmands but I usually get 2 valid + 1 old command in the list at this stage in my midlet.

Well, I found a temporary solution. When you are having a conversation at iChat and want to leave it, don't close the conversation first, but try to close the headset pressing the button for a long time. The OS will get the message "Bluetooth Disconnected" but the next time the headset (open it again of course) will work!
    Try it!

  • Sony z1 probleme

Hi i have a probleme with my new sony z1 when i make photos with it it disapears when connect it to pc and knowing that i don't have sd card and the default is the interne storage. 2 probleme is when charge it or connecte it to pc some kind of publicité about z1 and it won't stop

You may need to perform a software repair using PC companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.
Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).
Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

  • Sony HC39E - problem connecting

    Wondering if anyone can help...?
According to the compatible list my handycam isn't compatible with a Mac. However, I received feedback from another user confirming that this model Sony will infact download footage to a Mac with a firewire cable...
I'm new to Macs and Apple in general, so finding this simple requirement quite a challenge especially since just finding out that posts get removed from file... so can't track back to that person who gave me advise.
Anyway, I now have a firewire cable which I bought on ebay. This plugs into the DV out port on the camera dock and obviously in firewire on the Mac. The Mac still doesn't register anything... So I'm a bit lost now and in need of some help as I don't know if there's something wrong with the cable... Apple support were of limited help before due to the model not being on their list.
Hoping someone out there can help...
    Look forward to hearing back...
    Many thanks
    Kirsten

Kirsten, sorry to see that you havent resolve with connecting your camera to your computer.
The iLink cable is a firewire cable. Thats correct.
ANyway, this may be or may not be hardware problem. There is a thread on camera recognition problems due to Quicktime 7.
Bob Sidebotham, "Solution to camera recognition problems after upgrades.", 07:11pm Jun 15, 2005 CDT
But first you have to find out if your firewire cable is the culprit. Do you have another firewire cable to test?
I had exactly this same problem with camera recognition on both my Powerbook and my G5 desktop. & I thought it was my cable too.
I just had to delete my Quicktime reciepts and then re-install Quicktime.
    Heres how,
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301852
I also strongly suggest that you get the latest updates of FCP 5.0.3 and the latest Quicktime 7.0.3. and even Tiger 10.4.3
    Hope this helps...
    Hang in there...:)

  • Sony Receiver Problems

Hello I bought a Sony Home Receiver on 12/30/10 and purchased a 2 year warranty. I just wanted to know if any other home theatre receiver owners know what is going on with my product. Basically no matter which hdmi port I use on the receiver there random specs that pop on my television screen, I would describe it sort of like the white snow you would see on a television with no channel signal. I have eliminated that the hdmi cables, and the television is not at fault so I know the problem is with the receiver itself.

Okay my receiver has 4 hdmi ports (TV connection, Xbox, PS3, Cable Boix) so in all there are 4 hdmi cords being used.
-The PS3 is hooked to the HDMI Port labeled BD
-The XBox is hooked up to the HDMI port  labeled DVD
-The cable is hooked up to the port labeled HDMI port labeled Sat/Cat
The first port that went out was the PS3 (port BD). My first solution was to take the HDMI end in the receiver and move it from the BD port to the DVD port (unhooking my Xbox hdmi cable). Turned on the PS3 and it worked fine out of that port. Eliminating that the HDMI cable or PS3 was the culprit.
Went on for a few days just switching my machines into the working HDMI inputs. Then the Sat/Cat port started having the same problem as the BD port, again switched it into the DVD input and it was fine. Even then tried another hdmi cord in the Sat/Cat hdmi input and their was still pixelation.
Finally another couple of days after that the DVD hdmi input went out and again did the same steps and got the same results.
So basically there have been several hdmi cables used and there is no way all 4 can be faulty, if so statistically unlikely. Also when the same cords are plugged directly into the television the picture is fine.
Hopefully the explanation was clear it is kind of hard to explain this stuff non-verbally. Thank you for responding.

  • DVD and internal Sony Drive problems

    Hi,
I noticed that there were a few people having problems with writing DVD's so here's my problem to add to the list.
    SONY DVD RW DW-U21A:
    Firmware Revision: AADB
    Interconnect: ATAPI
    Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipped/Supported)
    Cache: 2048 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW
    Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
    Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
    Media: No
    I always use DVD-R.
This is the drive shipped with my mac and until a few weeks ago it worked fine. I then bought a batch of TDK DVDs (2x-16x speed) and none would write. Some of my older Sony DVDs wrote the same files absolutely fine. I thought it was a bad batch of TDK's and got my money back.
Now I've just bought some Imation discs (up to 16x compatible) and some BenQ (8x)- who make for a lot of large brand names. The Imations fail in every write and the BenQ's are fine.
As far as I know my drive is 8x compatible, so could this 16x compatibility be part of the problem even though the discs are meant to be able to be written at 8x, or is a firmware upgrade the way to go?
One more thing, the DVD shop asked me if I needed DVD's version 1 or 1.1. How would I find this out?
Any pointers in this direction would be most helpful if you reckon it is the 8x/16x thing as the lesser speeds are getting more difficult to come by.

Agreed -- we shouldn't be forced into buying new drives. I'm as frustrated as you are. Apple should work with Sony to get the firmware updates we need -- there should be no reason that the new 16x media can't be burned at 8x in our year-old G5 systems.
I tried again tonight with new 16x Fuji media in Studio Pro, and got the same error. However, some lower-end, big-box-computer-store 8x media burns just fine. As I type, I'm burning to some old Apple DVD 1x media I had lying around; it too is working just fine. Proves to me that it is only the newer 16x-capable media that fails in this drive (I think 5 different media vendors is enough to demonstrate this).
Did you also notice that it is (nearly) impossible to find brand-name 8x media in the stores today? I'd be happy if I could find that without mailorder. FYI -- a mailorder location where I have been successful is www.supermediastore.com -- I might have to order from them again.
I see that someone else has posted and mentioned macsales.com -- that is where I got the $43 price for the Pioneer burner.
I have no association with macsales.com or supermediastore.com -- just a satisfied customer in the past.

  • Macbook to Sony Bravia - Problems

    Hey -
So I'm trying to connect my Macbook (I got this back in like 2006-2007?) to my Sony Bravia TV. I have the current set-up:
VGA Cable connected from the back of the TV to a Mini-DVI-to-VGA connector to the MacBook. When I plug it in, the Macbook detects it (since I can see the MacBook screen adjusting to it) but when I go to find it on the TV (Input/Source), the "PC" option is grayed out. I've been trying everything (Detect Display, etc) for the Bravia to detect it but no dice. Any help would be great.
For the time being, I'm using a S-Video to Mini-DVI-to-S-Video adapter to the MacBook but the quality is really poor (except when watching movies).
Is there something else that I need to do?
    Thanks!
    Albert

    hello, people.
I'm trying to sync my mac to Sony Bravia as well.
    And it was tough.
But on my last try I find a way.
You have to put a resolution 640 x 480 on your mac
    and 1920 x 1080 on Sony TV.
After that, you have to go on menu of your TV and follow the steps:
ajustes > canais de entrada > controle de entradas
I know the names in portuguese.
But in english should be the same.
And set you PC from AUTO to "SEMPRE"
The TV is already set on AUTO (automatic)
It works and I really happy.
I wish it works for you too
    Good luck
