Sony Action Cam (HDR-AS10 or HDR-AS15)

The new Sony Action Cam(s) (models - HDR AS10 & HDR AS15) were just released a few days ago...Any idea when Best Buy will stock this product in their inventory? Both are available via Sony's website, Amazon, and even 3rd party vendors, but Best Buy has yet to have any info on it. I tried calling customer service, but they were unable to provide me with a date. Anyone? Thanks in advance.

I did hear back on this, and all I can say is I wouldn't expect us to be carrying these in our stores in the near future. They might be available on BestBuy.com relatively soon, and the best I can suggest is to keep checking back.

OK to charge a Sony Action Cam (4K) by plugging the Micro USB cable (included with camera) into an apple adapter model A1385?

I highly recommend that you charge your Sony Action Cam with the original charger that came with your unit, or an other genuine Sony charger that fits in your Sony Action Cam to charge it. Deleting photos from Sony Action Cam using desktop computer

Hi Simple question and there will hopefully be a simple answer: How to delete selected photos from my Action Camera using a desktop computer? This is obviously one of the most basic things I should be able to do without having to post a question. Now I can only delete photos via smartphone or live-view which is slow and annoying. ThanksS

Welcome to the Sony Community!
To delete photos or videos using a computer, make sure that the camera is securely connected and USB shows on the screen of the camera. Open Computer/My Computer. You should be able to see Removable Drive. Open Removable Drive and then open DCIM folder. Inside the DCIM folder, it will contain another folder, just open it and you will see all the photos and videos recorded in the memory card of the camera. You can highlight the files you want to remove using the delete button on the keyboard.

May I know where you are playing back the videos. Are you playing it back on a computer or in a smartphone?
The freezing of images or lag is normal when using a smartphone as a live view monitor. The buffering of the video and the frame rate or quality when recording also cause them to lag. May I know what type of memory card you are using in the camera. An SDXC Memory Card of Class 10 or faster is required to record using the XAVC S format.

I may not quite understand, however it looks like you are having issues playing videos from your phone on the PC. If this is the case you may need to install a video player on your PC that supports additional codecs: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

Good day and Welcome to the Sony Community. Does the video appears blurry or unclear when recording in low light situations or is it blurry bec the Waterproof Case fogs up?
Sony camcorders automatically adjust the shutter speed based on the lighting conditions. If video is being shot in low light situations, the camera will slow the shutter speed. It is a normal operation.It would be adviseable to record video in locations where more light is present.
Another case is if the camera is inserted in the waterproof case while in an environment with high humidity, it is possible any little bit of moisture that was trapped inside will evaporate and cause the Waterproof Case to fog up. This typically happens when the camera is taken from one temperature extreme to another, such as moving from a cold, air-conditioned environment to the hot, sunny outdoors. To avoid fogging:
Insert the camera into the Waterproof Case in a dry place with low humidity.
Insert the camera into the Waterproof Case where little change or no difference in temperature occurs.
If it is possible to upload a video so that we can further check it, that would be very helpful!

Sony hdr-as100v action camera

I have a sony hdr-as100v action camera that i want to download pictures and videos from. Sony manual says to download "PlayMemories" software and use, but it will not load. My MacBook Air system is OS 10.6.8.
I am not sure if IPhoto will recognize and serve as the application for the camera.
Any suggestions or experiences?

Doubtful iPhoto will recognize the camera but there's a workaround. Use the Image Capture app in your Applications folder.
Launch Image Capture then connect the camera to your Mac.
The camera should show up under Devices top left side of the Image Capture window.
Now look at the bottom left side of the window. Click the: Connecting this (device) opens: pop up menu and select an application to import your photos.
Alternatively, you can also select iPhoto to import photos from the Import To: pop up menu.
Selet the photos you want to import then click Import or Import All on the right.
More help is available from the Image Capture menu bar. Click Help > Image Capture Help

Action Cam HDR-AS100VR can't record XAVC-S format, memory card incompatible?

Hello Sony, I've just purchased POV action cam HDR-AS100VR and I want to record XAVC-S format for a smooth and clear output. My initial micro sd card is class 10, 64GB scandisk ultra which I coud'nt useit to record XAVC-S format because of low read/write speed. So I decide to buy a new memory card, I found a 64 GB Scandisk Extreme Plus with 80Mb/s read and 50Mb/s write. I thought that was enough speed for the cam to record XAVC-S format, but the cam flashes MEDIA when I set it to XAVC-S format. I also tried reformating the sd card to exFAT, but still no luck. Any idea why? is my new memory card(almost US$100) not fast enough for the cam? If you can give me a list of memory card that can actualy record XAVC-S format on this cam will be big help.

This error happens when using a memory card that is not fast enough to record the data being saved by camera. An SDXC Memory Card of Class 10 or faster is required to record using the XAVC S format.
You just need to try other microSDXC card with a faster write/read speed.

See if the cam shows up under Devices in the Image Capture app.

Log and Transfer not working with Sony AVCHD camera

Hi, I have a new Sony AVCHD camera. The HDR-XR200 120GB hard drive model. It captures in 1920x1080i, and connects to Mac via USB.
FCP does not recognize the camera when I open the log and transfer window.
Can someone help me with seq setting and easy set up setting or other setting for it to work.
I am happy to import footage into FCP with AIC or prores 422. Just want to edit all the footage I have of my so's international soccer tournament held in Australia last week. I also have Final Cut Express on my Mac if that works better. This is very frustrating trying to get it to work.

I use a Panasonic AVCHD, which FCP doesn't recognise. Anyway I've spent months playing around because this little camera blows my Sony V1 out of the water in sheer quality.
Best thing is just get hold of a copy of Toast 10, you can then simply drag your .mts files into this and encode to whatever you want, I edit in pro res LT, but Toast will even encode it to HDV if you want to end up on tape(Even this result still blows the Sony HDV apart)
FCP is very fussy about even noticing the very existance of .mts files, so I wouldn't waste my time, scratching my head.
By the way, I use Firewire 800 drives, not USB 2 and also in the name of God BACK UP YOUR MTS FILES ON A NEW HARD DISC CALLED "BACKUP OF .MTS FILES!" LOL

Does Final Cut Pro X import AC3 sound from an SONY AVCHD Camera?

I have a Sony AVCHD camera HDR-XR200.
I have been using Vegas Platinum in a PC. Surround sound 5.1 is supported.
I purchased FCPX for its "64 bit processing. better use of cores and threads, and 5.1 sound (which iMovie does not support).
However, when I use FCPX to import from the camera, i only get stereo channels.
I have set the properties to 5.1 sound.
Can anyone shed light on why this does not work?

I have sent the following to the Apple Feedback site.
"I have FCPX which claims to support AVCHD and Surround Sound AC3.
When I import toFCPX from my HDR-XR200 handicam, the audio is down mixed to stereo. I cannot get the 5.1 sound recorded in the camera to accompany the video.
Is this advertised feature missing, is this a bug or should I be doing something that is not immediately apparent to the application."
It seems that many of us who have great expectations for FCPX whould like some feedback from Apple.
