Sony Bravia KLD-42W650A USB port defect

I have a Sony Bravia KLD-42W650A Tv but the usb port does not detect any usb storage device that is slotted. Help me fix this problem

The solution is going to be a bit convoluted without changing speakers. That set of speakers is meant just for computer use, hence only having a USB connection. If you use your TV as your audio hub, you could feed the optical output back into the mini's audio input jack (it can do digital optical as well as analog, just like the output). You'd then have to use software to redirect the input back to the output. This can cause some problems though, as you can end up getting into an echo loop, depending on how well the software you use works or is set up. A couple of examples of this software are Soundflower or LineIn.

  • Macbook Pro 13 (June 2011) and Sony Bravia connectivity using HDMI port.

    Hi,
I have searched many forums and posts here and there, but no where got the perfect solution, also most of the places people are misxing the problems with other problems.
My Problem: I am not able to see even Sovy TV in my MBP display page, and hence not able to connect to Sony Bravia to my MBP.
What I am using: Macbok pro 13 June 2011, Lion 10.7.2, Sony Bravia 40EX550, DVI Mini Adaptor for Mac (at one side DVI male connector and other side female HDMI connector) and one HDMI cable (the cable which comes with my DTH provider both ends are for Male HDMI pin)
I do not think i would require anything more in this.
Now after connecting with Adaptor to my MBP i connected the other end to HDMI cable which was already connected to HD TV HDMI port (there are 4 ports and i tried all the ports)
When i opened the System Pref -> Displays I got below screen
Here in above screen I clicked on Detect Displays but nothing happens, actually it should detect the Sony Tv and there on I sohuld do some settings.
Please any one can help on that. Sorry for this repeated kind of problem , but I have searched in many forums and here on discussion.apple.com also , but evywhere people are mixing 2 different problem into one, some people are not getting the display and few of them not event getting the detection of the HDTV. So I posted here for the later one.

Right now your MBP is not recognizing the TV.  You should get a display in SYSTEM PREFERENCES>DISPLAYS similar to this.  Note the 'Arrangement option in the menu bar.  Your connections are bad or you have a faulty cable and/or adapter.
I assume you are using a MINI DISPLAY PORT/HDMI adapter, not a DVI adapter.
    Ciao.

  • USB ports defective?

I have been trying to use my Nexus 7 with the Android File Transfer application on my Mac, but, about 80% of the time, it says 'could not connect to the device!' whenever I connect it to any 27" iMac in digital media lab at my college, I can connect just fine. What would cause my macbook Pro to experience that issue, and not any other Mac? Also, whenever I connect any usb device, I have noticed that 'hardwaregrowler' is telling me that my Card Reader gets disconnected, then reconnected again, and when any USB device is functioning, the Caps Lock light turns on by itself. are these related issues?
(PS) when I connect my Nexus 7 to any PC, Windows detects it as a media device without failing, and it seems that this only gives me problems when I use my Macbook Pro.

Android removed mounting as a standard mass storage device, use to just plug in-mount as a drive.
They instituted mounting using MTP. Mac OS X does not recognize this so Google supplied the Android file transfer.
It does not work well with samsung devices.

  • Optical or analog cable for connecting Macbook 1,1 to Sony Bravia

    Hello
I have found a mini-DVI to HDMI adapter (plus HDMI cable) to take the video  from a Macbook 1,1 (all white) to a Sony Bravia TV. Now I need to find the right cable to carry the audio from the Macbook to the Sony Bravia. The Macbook has an optical (digital) audio socket (output?) and the Sony Bravia has 3 HDMI ports and 5 apparent audio jack ports (no idea whether they are 2.5 or 3.5 mm and whether they are analogue or digital). Please could someone advise me which or what sort of audio cable I should buy.
    Here are the Mac specs.
    file:///Users/joylaw/Desktop/Picture%201.png
    file:///Users/joylaw/Desktop/Picture%202.png
Many thanks for any and all help

OK. So I now have the sound connection working. The 3.5mm jack from the audio cable goes  into the headphone socket, NOT the optical (digital) audio socket on the Macbook, and the red and white jacks go into the respective red and white sockets (surprise, surprise) on the back of the Sony Bravia. I select 'Comp" as the input audio source in the TV settings, and the audio from the computer is broadcast perfectly from the TV internal speakers.
I am now waiting for delivery of the mini-DVI to HDMI adapter and have a question related to this.
The TV settings offer options for external devices corresponding to the ports on the TV, which include HDMI and Comp. When I have both the mini-DVI to HDMI and the audio cables connected, should I still choose Comp, or should I switch to HDMI as the external device. Will the TV be able to pick up input from 2 external devices at the same time although only one can be selected?

  • Sony Bravia as Preview Monitor

    Hi,
I have just bought a Sony Bravia (KDLS26A12U) and I'm hoping to use it as as second digital monitor to preview my DVDs. I have a PowerMac G5, so I thought about connecting the Sony Bravia to the DVI port (using a DVI to HDMI adapter) and my regular monitor to the ADC port (using an ADC to VGA adapter).
Has anyone done it yet? Can you tell me if it works? I'm having some trouble on configuring the Mac to run on Sony's default resolution...
    Thanks a lot!

    Hey tmarques
this particular model supports only 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i correct?
if this is true, you will have refresh rate problems watching standard definition material, since you are in a PAL country.
also, the native resolution fro this LCD is 1366x768, so you migh thave some trouble displaying this back.
if you go under this resolution, your images will seem stretched, over and they will be squashed.
why dont you try lowering your resolutoin via system preferences on the sony monitor and see if that works?

  • Calling Sony Bravia HD TV owners with photoshop

    Hi.
Sony Bravia has a problem with Photoshop !
If a jpg is created in photoshop, 1920 x 1080 pixels,  72dpi, it wont play on a Sony Bravia TV via USB stick.
However it will play on a Panasonic HD TV and on a Samsung, so why is Bravia refusing them.
Furthermore it displays thumbnails ok, just wont play them full size !
If it is created in camera and loaded onto a PC then onto USB it will play on the Bravia.
Both were Adobe RGB colour space so it cant be that.
    Any idea why ?
Standard or Optimised or Progressive, they all fail !
Gaps in file name or length make no difference.
unless its file extension .JPG or .jpg or perhaps .jpeg or .JPEG
    I used CS2.
Basically anyone with a Sony Bravia and using Photoshop has a big problem here. Works ok on Samsung and Panasonic.
Means no ability to play my photos on a friends Bravia. Also means I wont be buying Sony !
I have seen mention of this by others on the internet. All shops tried so far exhibit this problem.
For those that experience this, whats happening ?
    Envirographics

    I recently purchased a 46" Bravia LED (model KDL-4EX620).
At work I had downloaded some really cool double screen wallpapers (2560x1024). All are jpg files, and I thought it would make a cool slide show with mellow music for my wife and I to enjoy while chatting over dinner and enjoying a glass of wine.
I was surprised when the TV showed some images, and with others I just got a black screen with the message of "Image cannot be displayed".
I looked up information on this, and found a couple of forums (all with recent replies) that mentioned the problem with newer Bravia TV's and they related it to manipulation in apps like Photoshop.
I used PS for a living, and I'm very familiar with JPEG format images, since I've been doing web desing since the mid 90's.
I'm very used to looking at JPEG as a standard, that should have no display problems, specially with recent technology!
I am aware though, that specially digital cameras, won't accept edited images to be displayed along with the originals on memory cards. Once edited, they will not show up on the camera's LCD.
I never really looked into this, and accepted it as a fact of life, so to speak.
But this issue with the TV really peaked my interest.
After chatting with SONY's support, I was pointed in the direction of a technical spec. listed on the TV model's details:
"- JPEG (JPEG format files with the extension “.jpg” and conforming to DCF 2.0 or Exif 2.21)"
And I'm not entirely sure about this, but it seems it's related to the aforementioned issue with edited images on a Camera.
Somebody here mentioned SRGB, vs Adobe's RGB.
I decided to make a test.
Using PS CS3, I ran ALL the images in the folder of the USB drive I had stuck into the TV for the slide show. The script is a standard script in the File menu of PS CS3: File/Scripts/Image Procesor...
Saving the images as JPEG, making sure I selected SRGB and maintaing ICC profile.
I re-saved all the images with this method, which in fact reduces file size (I guess it's not very lossless).
Presto, now NONE of the images display on the TV!!!
hehehehe, I guess it's a good thing, since it does relate PS as a culprit clashing with the DCF 2.0 or Exif 2.21 requirements the TV lists.
NOW... the question is, CAN I save from PS under that JPEG profile? Will I need a third party app? an additional plugin? any other apps you can think of?
There's a rather cheap option, but I'm not going to buy it just yet, until I find out that I can defenitely NOT use PS for this. I mean, c'mon, shouldn't a MUCH more expensive app be able to conform to standards fromt he 90's???
I know I can't change the TV's requirements, updating the firmware will not solve something that SONY doesn't consider a bug. It's a standard after all.

  • ITouch not recognized on any PC anymore - Defect USB port the cause?

    Hey guys,
I'm posting here because I've been to the closest Genius Bar twice and they couldn't even tell me what was my problem. I'm kinda desperate right now...
The same problem occurred on my three iPod Touch first gen so far; for some reason they simply stop being recognized by ANY computers. I try different cables, reset, recovery mode, reinstall iTunes, restart the AMDS, update every hardware drivers of my PC... The only thing I haven't done right now is reformatting my PC, which won't happen.
I went to the Apple's Genius Bar and they couldn't find my problem; it wasn't the pins, the cable nor an application problem (I have latest firmware 2.1 by the way). So they gave me another Touch which was also defect. Yesterday, I return and they gave me a third one which worked correctly at the store and on my job's computer.
However, when I got back home I connect it on my own PC (using the same cable et setup) and for some reason, now the same problem reappeared. Doesn't matter what I try, it is not recognized anywhere anymore. When I connect it to a PC, the recharge window never shows; it continue working normally though.
As I said, I updated every hardware drivers and I'm a little tired of going to the store everyday. Could it be caused by a defect USB port? Anyone ever seen something like this?
Some help would be really appreciate.
Thanks for your time and support.
    Frank

I been having the same problem as you, except I haven't tried it in a different computer. For a while, iTunes is recognizing my iTouch as a digital canon camera. Now its not recognizing it as anything.
This problem started started when I downloaded the iTouch 2.0.2 update. When iTunes is open it asked me to update. When I click yes to update the iTunes, it only updates the safari and it won't update the iTunes. Apple support by phone was not able to help me fix this problem. The tech said that the USB port hardware needs to be updated on my computer. It took me almost 5 hours to find out this could be the solution to my problem.
Now, I'm trying to find the USB update thru Microsoft and I'm having difficult time finding this too. I had this iTouch for only 3 months and cost me almost $400 and I'm not able to use it. I have at least 14GB available in this iTouch and I don't know If I will be able to use all this space, it I dont find the solution to this problem.
If you find the solution to this problem, PLEASE reply to this post. If anyone else reading this, your answers are welcome and appreciated. If I cant find a solution to this problem, I will never buy an Apple product again.

  • I am unable to download pictures from my Sony Cybershot to my iMac, I have tried using the USB port as well as simply inserting the memory stick into the slot.  I have been able to do this in the past as recently as a few weeks ago.... Help please..

I am unable to download pictures from my Sony Cybershot to my iMac, I have tried using the USB port as well as simply inserting the memory stick into the slot.  I have been able to do this in the past as recently as a few weeks ago.... Help please..

    Thanks Eric for responding.
I checked and it does not appear in the Applications folder.
I tried yesterday on an ethernet connection with a download speed of 2 Mbps but, unfortunately the connection died(It happened from the ISP end, which is out of my control) in between after which there was no trace of the download that happened for so long(till the internet connection death).
One more serious query which I am unable to understand. If the internet connection, dies in the midst of the download is in progress why is it so that the state does not persist and one has to restart the entire process again. Is there no solution for this?
I tried so many times and its the same case after some amount of download it vanishes. So many unsuccessful attempts. I am ****** off now. Is it not possible to see Mavericks? Why does different machines of Apple behave differently? Somewhere it goes smoothly and somewhere like my mine. Why did not Apple release a non apple store version? Is this not a bad sign of letting the users struggle when something is being offered for free?
The reason I asked as whether we can download the .app of Mavericks is that, there are so many applications that I have downloaded web and have installed. All that works fine. Can't we do the same here? You download a copy of Mavericks installer application and upload it for me in Google drive or like online storage places which can be downloaded and used by me? Help me understand.
    Thanks again.

  • 120hz possibly defective? (Sony Bravia Z KDL46z4100)

Thanks in advance with any help provided.
I recently purchased the Sony Bravia Z with 120hz model KDL46z4100. I have tried in vain to mimic the in-store motion blur reduction with no success.
I am using a blu-ray disc for testing in order to get a true 1080p signal. Both a PS3 and Sony blu-ray player have been used. I originally started with a cheap $20 Philip's HDMI cable but last night decided to try the Monster 1000 ultra-high speed cable (both of which seem to produce an identical picture).
I have reviewed several different websites for manually customizing the signal on the TV and at this point feel I have changed every setting possible on the TV (MotionEnhancer, Cinemotion, etc.). I have also played with all of the settings of the PS3 and Sony blu-ray player. All three devices are fully updated with any firmware/software updates released. The whole reason I took the chance on the Monster cable is because it was the last change I could think to make to reproduce the quality.
Displays at Best Buy and another local retailer both show a better quality of blur reduction than mine. And yes, I have even written down their display model settings and tried them at home.
I am open to any suggestions as to what could possibly be the problem at this point. Is it possible the 120hz feature is simply not working on the TV?
    Thanks again.

Hello, I work in Store 170 in Brentwood, Tn in the Magnolia Home Theater Room.  That is a great Tv, nice contrast, video color and even that 120hz, that doesn't seem to like you right now.
It's a good thing you switched your hdmi cable.  The one thing that people people look at is price,  and the thing they don't look at is how much the cable can process.  If you look at the back of the package or sometimes, like on the monster 1000, the front, it will tell you a number like 10.2, or even as low as 2.  This is what allows that faster video to pass through.  More than likely the cable you started with was a really low number... Using that cable was stopping the 120hz before it even got to your tv. (a good alternative to the monster 1000 for the price, is the rocketfish in the black package... it can also do the 120 and a fast pass through)
Another thing that might come into play is the setting on your tv.  When I setup a new tv on an endcap or for a display, when in the store turn the 120 on low, or if it is animation we turn it on medium.  If you turn it too high you will get almost like a glow around the main images.  I usually tell customers to leave it on low, Until you get hardcore into sports.  You can find that setting in the menu, picture, and i believe it is advanced settings at the bottom,  I will double check that at work.  The old sony menu was easier to find the 120 settings like in the xb4.
Other than those 2 things i haven't heard of any other problems, let me know how it turns out.

  • Retina 13" macbook pro issue with defective USB ports?

I have a late 2013 13" macbook pro with retina display. I'm having persistent issues with both USB ports. Connected peripherals like keyboards or external USB drives either will not be recognized at all, or will take a very long time (minutes) to be recognized by the system.
I'm running the latest version of Mavericks OS X 10.9 (13A2093) at the moment, which includes the keyboard/trackpad firmware fix that addressed initial issues with this series of laptops.
I took it to the local Genius Bar a few days ago and the Apple Genius was able to get an external USB drive to mount (eventually) on each port, but now it seems that waiting several minutes for the external device/drive to be recognized does no good.
Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?

Here is an example of devices you should see in the Device Manager. Can you check what you have?

  • Cables for Macbook Pro to Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 ??

    Greetings -
We have an Aug 2009 MacBook Pro -- would like to feed video / movies to our Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500, which has all manner of inputs -- HDMI, Composite, S-Video.
There appears to be a video port between the firewire & 2 USB ports.
What cable(s) do I need to get the optimal picture to the TV (and what to the receiver)?
    Thanks,

  • Firmware for Sony Bravia. What?

I was planning to buy a Sony Bravia LCD HDTV, 32" from Best Buy.  I was reading the reviews and a lot of owners are saying that I would need a Sony "firmware update for video/audio" that can be downloaded from Sony.  What exactly are they talking about?  I'm not too TV/computer literate, and downloading/ flashplayer firmware might not be something that I would want to tangle with.
Thanks in advance  for information about this issue.

Since alot of the new tvs have what were once computer components within them, such as mother boards, the component may be in need of updates in order for the tv to run properly. The manufacturers will create these updates in order to keep your tv running at its best. The updates are to keep your tvs operations running smoothly. There are also firmware updates for certain blu-ray disc players as well.
The updating of the firmware on the tv can be fairly simple if you have a newer computer/laptop that has an easily accessible usb port. You would check the tv manufacturer's website for any firmware updates listed under your tv model number and if you were to find an update available download it onto a flash drive and connect the flash drive to the usb port on the tv. From there you would go through a few menus in order to get the update to load onto the tv.
Manufacturer customer support can often walk you through applying the updates to the tv.
    Hope this answers your question.

I am not at home right now, and it will take some days before I can confirm if I remember the details correctly. Another problem is that I do not exactly understand the OP's situation: when exactly does the slideshow start? After some more or less constant time, or after reaching a specific image in the given folder? But I have a Sony Bravia TV (40X3500), which reads and shows jpg files from a USB port. I have seen two kinds of problems when trying to present slide shows. One is that while the TV reads USB sticks perfectly, it may not feed enough power to some portable USB hard drives, the result being that the USB hard drive powers up so slowly that the TV set issues an error message. After a while the hard drive is powered up and the slide show begins.
An entirely different problem is that many of my edited jpg files do not have a thumbnail icon (until I learned to save jpg's with thumbnails), and whenever I try to bein the slideshow at a slide without a thumbnail, I get an error message. But if the folder begins with a jpg file with an embedded thumbanail, I can open it and start the slide show at that image, in which case the slide show continues into the images that lack thumbnails.
FWIW, my Sony displays images sorted by modification date. This means that without further action, edited jpg files are shown after unedited ones. But there's a freeware program called JPGDateChanger by Damir Valiulin, which changes the file's modified date/time back to the "as shot" date/time, and the slides are shown in the proper order.
    Best regards

  • Cannot Connect Imac 24" via mini dvi to HDMi adapter cable to Sony Bravia 3

    Hello Everyone,
I'm having the worst time in trying to connect the following:
    1. Imac 24" 3.06 dual with dvi connection
    2. Mini dvi to HDMI adapter (this mac with this connection was produced only for a short while!).
    3. 10' (foor) HDMI wire
    3. Sony Bravia 32" model KDL32L-5000 with 3 HDML connections
i.When I wire everything up, I keep getting"no signal" on my Sony Bravia TV.
ii. It doesn't matter whether I connect the HDMI wire to HDMI 1,2, or 3 on my Sony
iii. On my Imac Hard Drive>>Applications>>System Preferences>>Displays
all I get is a list of different resolutions. There is no mention or mirrors etc.
Nothing happens when I press "Gather Windows" or Detect Displays"
Can someone out there please help!!!!!
Can you also give any solution in very simple and small detailed steps!
    Thanks,
    Stacey Bindman

Majortrout, there is a major disconnect going on here.
    1. You are showing an Ebay link with a mini-DVI to HDMI adapter.
    2. You report that you have an Early '09 24" iMac.
    3. That iMac does not have a mini-DVI port. That iMac has a mini-DispayPort.
    4. You need a mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.
It is physically impossible to attach the adapter to which you link at Ebay to your iMac. So you need to take a step back and figure out what you really have; which iMac, which adapter, etc.
