Hello, I have a Sony Bravia KDL series 46in TV. It powers on, the backlight shows activity as in you can see that it wants to do something, then powers itself back off then back on in a cycle.. What could the issue be? If you tell me a board please be specific in which board would cause this and why. Thank you

Power Reset
Turn off the television.
IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
Turn on the television.
Factory Reset
Unplug the TV power cord from the electrical outlet.
Allow the TV to remain without power for one minute.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: The TV should turn on automatically. If it does not, turn it on.
Wait approximately 40 seconds for the TV to completely start up.
On the TV remote control, press and hold the UP ARROW button.
While holding the UP ARROW button, press and release the POWER button on the TV set.
Release the UP ARROW button.
NOTE: The initial setup screen displays if the above procedures were performed correctly.
8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial setup.

The only way to stream directly to your TV would be if it is an AirPlay-enabled device.
There are many AirPlay-enabled devices but I am not familiar with Sony's products. If yours do not specifically indicate AirPlay capability, then you need an AirPlay-enabled device such as an AppleTV connected to your Sony TV or Sony AVR. -

Well, I have connected my mbpr directly to a Sony Bravia using an hdmi cable, then set the tv to use the corresponding input port, and it works just fine. Have also connected via airplay -> appletv -> tv (with the last connection via an hdmi cable), which also works fine.

Ok. I successfully connected my macbook to my sony bravia L Series, but I can only get the sound to play through the laptop. is there any way to have it play through the tv when i watch online vidoes? thanks.
How do you have the TV connected to the Macbook? The DVI port doesn't carry audio, so you will have to link the headphone port to the audio in on your TV (probably a red/white RCA pair). You can buy a mini jack to RCA pair cable at a good audio store or online.

That's a Sony Bravia kdlv40a12u showing off Front Row on the new Mini's marketing pages (see link below). I know because I've got that model (there's a possibility it's the TV's smaller 32-inch sibling).

After my new Mini (duo) is done with its world courier tour I am hoping I'll just be able to plug it in (DVI to HDMI since there's no VGA socket on the TV anyway) and it'll work just as well the one on the Mini's marketing pages APPEARS to be working. BUT having read all of traffic about the difficulties people are having getting their HDTVs to plug and play nice out of the box, I am beginning to wonder. I read some of the press reports of the Intel Mini's launch and it was reported that Stevie's boys and girls were using the Bravia to show off the Mini in one or the "rooms". If anybody has successfully plugged and played with this combination, please post reassuance. If you've had to tweak with Displayconfigx or SwitchRes, please can you post your timings. If non of the above, I'll let you know how I get on. I have to admit to a sinking feeling since I did try with a PPC Mini and gave up after hours and hours of borrowing and guessing Displayconfigx settings.

You should be fine - DVI to HDMI is simply a pin
format change - the signals are preserved so nothing
more expensive than some copper is needed for that
cable to work (That being said, some of the list
prices are staggering for DVI-HDMI cables)
Could be the 26". I was going by the size of the Mini next to it. Apparently SJ thinks they look "nice".

works out of the box. (Other than turning off the
overscan which was enabled by default - I prefer to
see my dock and menu bar rather than have video fill
every pixel...)
Thanks for input (no pun intended given we are talking about DVI to HDMI!). The Mini is now in the Netherlands, so it's getting closer all the time. When it arrives I'll plug it in and let readers of this thread how it goes, looks etc. I too am not fanatical about filling every last pixel as long as those that are used are giving their all in terms of clarity.

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro. It is plugged in and charging but will not switch on. I try pushing ctrl, shift, alt and power together then release and press power again. The laptop goes to a white screen but switches off straight away. Any ideas?
P.s. it is now going to apple logo on white screen then switches off

My I phone is restart after some time. Some times find out its off then if I press Home + Power button then again re-start. Some time after coming apple logo it take auto restart ...display become blue color. I have restored through I tunes and got I cloud backup. But stll have same problem.
Try once again to restore using iTunes, but this time without using a backup, to make sure that this is not software related.
If the phone still restarts on it's own, get it checked, this might then be hardware related after all.

Connecting Macbook Pro to Sony Bravia tv?
Hi all,
Firstly i hope I've posted this in the correct location, I'm still new to this forum, and all the technology I'm surrounding myself with.
I recently brought a Samsung 3dtv, I connected my Macbook pro via the VGA, all worked fine, however my new tv does have dodgy hdmi's and screen issue, so a new replacement will be delivered next week.
My Macbook pro was bought in 2008, yes 4 years ago, only recently did it start slowing down and playing around. So, my Macbook is not top of the line, with many fancy connctions, oppostie obviously. However the dvi - vga does work and continues to do so.
My iMac was brought only a couple of weeks ago, so is more up-to-date, I still don't know what all the connections are at the back, but I'm impressed.
In the lounge there is a Sony Bravia tv, was brought last year, again i don't know everything about it.
Last night, du to the failure of my hdmi's i decided to connect my Macbook to the Sony tv. This simple task turned in to hours of touture, not quite but it was pretty horrific.
I went the way which i knew has worked and should work. dvi - vga.
I connected the adapter from my Macbook to one end of the vga lead, the other end in the tv. I also connected my audio cable. The same way that i have done for years, especially on a 6 year old LG lcd tv. And still nothing. (This way even works on a broken Samsung tv)
The PC output on the Sony was grayed out, and continue to stay that way... all night. Frustrating!
I then decided to try an old windows laptop, again nothing.
I also tried with my iMac, thunderbolt (i believe) to hdmi - hdmi, again nothing!
I even tried the hdmi cables from the cable box etc and all worked ok. Nothing wrong with cables nor the connectors on the tv.
I spoke with a technician from the store of purchase, he said.... It only worked on Samsung tv as it is a 'Smart' tv, and that i could make it work by downloading a free app called... AirPlay. : |
I find this all completely odd as like I've said, the 6 year old LG Nothing-of-a-tv LCD worked via the dvi (on a 4 year old Macbook) to a vga cable, through and in to the tv, also using an audio cable, I bet my life that if i connct it again right this moment, it will work.
Also my Samsung tv is broken, yet the same cable and Macbook still works.
Why does the other two completely different tv's work just like that and the one year old Sony, No!!!
All i would like to know is, how on earth can i connect my Macbook to the Sony tv and have it working as an extra screen?? with video and sound content?
Many thanks to you all. xI run into exactly the same problem with PC input staying grey. The matter gets worse by:
- if I connect a PC to the Bravia on the it recognizes it.
- if I then connect a MacBook after it it works, until the MacBook is turned off when the matter returns...
- with the earlier MacBooks (time with the round power cables before the magnetic connector) it worked well but newer display connector has this problem.
Hence it's somehow a Bravia problem or a signaling problem from this particular MacBook connector to Bravia (something signal is missing that should be there...) -

Hi I recently bought an ATV 3 which works fine with a Panasonic TV but is not detected on the HDMI input (or any of the others listed in the Sony menu) by a several year old Sony Bravia KLV-26T400A despite the specs saying it supports 1080 p HDMI input. The HDMI lead is the same that worked successfully with the Panasonic TV. I have reset the Sony to factory settings, turned the power on and off; cut the power to the ATV 3 and re-booted and tried the fixes I've seen listed on other threads which speak of editing the External Input labels and skipping the ones you don't use (on the Sony) but none of these have helped, can anyone help?

SimonThat does make things more difficult. Is the monitor HDCP compliant? Seeing as it's an issue with the display and not the device the only thing I could suggest is to get hold of another TV in order to lower the resolution on ATV. If that doesn't work then i'm not really sure what else to try i'm afraid.

T400 to Sony Bravia KDL46EX500
Hi - I am trying to have my T400 play movies or TV shows from the internet to my Sony Bravia KDL46EX500. As described in the TV manual, I connect a 15 pin cable to the VGA output on the laptop and plug the other end into the RGB input on the TV. I plug a mini plug audio cable into the microphone output on the laptop and into the single audio input on the TV. The video works fine. As for the audio, I can only hear sound if I turn the TV volume as high as it will go. Then there is low sound along with a loud buzz (no doubt because the TV sound is up so high).
I have read so many entries in forums about this problem, but it seems each one has its own little twist. So I've decided to just ask for help from you.

I don't mind buying a cable or converter or whatever is needed, but I need some guidance from you! Thank you so much!Do you have the audio volume turned up all the way on the laptop? I frequently connect my T400 to my TV. I notice that I need to have the volume up on my receive a little higher than normal, but everything tends to work fine as long as I have the volume all the way up on the machine.
Also, check the "sound" in the control panel, go to the playback tab, select properties, and then the enhancements tab. I seem to have best results with enhancements turned off.

How do I connect my Sony Bravia tv as a monitor for my MacBook Pro? I have an hdmi lead with an adapter to the computer and get a picture of factory setting cosmos with some of the folders of my desktop going off the side of the tv screen.
If you have the right cable, and have set the right input on your Sony, then you need to adjust one thing. Go to System Preferences>Displays>Set Mirroring. I think you've got it set to Extended desktop, which means the Sony is just a HUGE extension of your Mac OSX desktop.
That should fix your issue.
