  • Sony bravia kdl-46z4100/Yamaha rx-v463

I recently purchased these and hooked them with HDMI cables(from HD sat reciever to Yamaha RX-V463 out to Sony Bravia 46" KDL-40Z4100). Problem is that I cannot override the reciever and listen to the TV speakers. Also, I cannot get the Rx-V463 info to display on the TV. Any suggestions?

Problem is that I cannot override the reciever and listen to the TV speakers
On page 14 of you manual it says, " 2-channel as well as multi-channel PCM, Dolby Digital and
DTS signals input at the HDMI IN DVD or HDMI IN DTV/
CBL jack can be output at the HDMI OUT jack only when
“SUPPORT AUDIO” is set to “Other” (see page 67).
    Page 67 says,

audio signals on this unit or on another HDMI component
connected to the HDMI OUT jack on the rear panel of this
unit.• This unit transmits audio and video signals input at the HDMI
input jacks to the HDMI out jack only when this unit is turned
on even if “SUPPORT AUDIO” is set to “Other”.
    • Available audio/video signals depend on the specification of the
connected video monitor. Refer to the instruction manual of
    each connected component.
Also, I cannot get the Rx-V463 info to display on the TV. Any suggestions?
    page 15 suggests:
Some video monitors connected to this unit via a DVI
connection fail to recognize the HDMI audio/video signals
being input if they are in the standby mode. In this case, the
    HDMI indicator flashes irregularly.
    • When you connect your TV monitor or projector via HDMI
connection, the OSD does not appear. In such cases, connect the
TV monitor or projector via component, or video connection
Hope this helps.  I found this info in about 10 minutes while looking at your manual at http://www.4electronicwarehouse.com/content/yamaha/rx-v463-u-man.pdf

  • Cant connect my Sony Bravia to my mac.

I'm having trouble connecting my sony bravia tv (KDL-32BX300) to my mac. I have tried pretty much everything and have used the cable on other tv's with my mac anyone have any idea what the problem is? My mac can't find the tv at all.
    Any help would be great

    According this: https://docs.sony.com/release/specs/KDL32BX300_mksp.pdf
That Tv is not a full HD TV, only 720p and as such may not be able to support the Mac's full resolution.
You may need to lower the resolution on the Mac to get it to work. According to the specs, this is its maximum resolution: 1366 X 768p
Depending on which adapter you are using may also be hat resolution you get. HDMI outputs at 1080p by default which your TV cannot support.

What cable(s) do I need to get the optimal picture to the TV (and what to the receiver)?

  • MacBook 13-inch Aluminum (Late 2008) to Sony Bravia KDL-40W5800

    Hello forum,
I am looking to buy a Sony Bravia KDL-40W5800 (Sony link, Amazon link) in the near future. I am going to be using it to play PS3, watch television and DVDs/Blu-Rays, but also I would like to be able to connect my MacBook to it if I wish to. I have been reading the forum and have come across numerous users that have problems connecting their MacBook to their HD-TVs.
    So my questions are:
What adapter cables do I need to connect the two devices (I already own the Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, if that's any help) correctly?
Is the Sony Bravia KDL-40W5800 compatible with the MacBook and does anyone have any experience with the TV itself? If so, I would be grateful for any kind of feedback.
    Thank you in advance,
    XtremeFluX

    Hi,
I have been using my macbook (late 2008 2.4 ghz) with my Sony Bravia (KDL 26S2030) for about a year now. I use Mini Display port to VGA and then into my PC input. I am perfectly happy with the picture quality (although you may want to fiddle with you custom settings) and I have never had any issues.
When I was looking originally I came across tons of people who had problems with connecting the Macbook to their monitors. However there was a patch that came out (maybe last march) and so I bought my equipment after that and the mac always connects properly (although be sure to turn your TV on before to put the mini display port in). You will need to calibrate it and that will be that.
I hope that helps a bit.

  • Connecting MacBook to Sony Bravia KDL-40XBR9 - No sound through TV

I recently bought a Sony Bravia KDL-40XBR9. I have it hooked up to my MacBook using an HDMI to DVI connection. But, I'm not getting sound through the TV. So, I bought a 3.5mm to RCA (one red, one white connection) cable. I've plugged the red and white connections into all of the red/white ports on the back of the tv but I'm still not getting sound out of the tv.
Can someone please help me with this setup?
    Thanks!!

Does your Bravia also have red and white input jacks on the side of the TV (my Bravia does, on the left). On my Bravia, those are the only audio inputs that are active for all inputs, and they are what I use when I am playing my MB through HDMI (which, as you found, only transmits video).

Is there anybody who can help me?
    Thanks in advance!
    R.

    @RW4HP ,
Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forums.  Lets see if we can get your sound issue resolved here.
First thing we will want to do is break down each step in the chain of components.
First thing you will want to try is to connect directly to the display with your notebook and try to play the movie.
If no sound go to the next HDMI input on the Display.  NOT THE SONY.  If no sound from each of the input ports on the Display.  Change the HDMI cable.
    Repeat the first steps.
Now if that fails try another DVD.  If you are still having a no sound issue try a new media player.
Switch up to VLC media player.  The only reason I suggest this one is due to the fact that is a free player and is loaded full of codecs that support almost anything.
    VLC Media Player
If this fails to do the job then we shall move on to the removal of the drivers.
Now when you go to uninstall the HDMI driver you will want to do this from safe mode.  This will make sure no other drivers or software are live to make a mess of the removal.
Before you remove the drivers though you will want to download the drivers that are the only supported drivers for your system from this link.
HP ENVY 17-j001eb Notebook PC Drivers
Now boot into safe mode and remove the HDMI drivers and the Graphics and Sound drivers.
    Windows 8 Safe Mode
Once you have done all this the next thing is to follow the steps for troubleshooting HDMI.
    Here are some links.

  • What connector do I need for MacBookPro1,1 for a Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000?

I'm a little confused on which display connector I need to hook up my Macbook Pro (MacBookPro1,1) to a Sony Bravia KDL-32L5000. (http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=1055 1&storeId=10151&langId=-1&XID=O:kdl32l5000:dg_ggldf&productId=819855292166574629 4)
    can anyone help me?

As you have a 1st gen MBPO, I'd go with a DVI to VGA converter, as per http://store.apple.com/us/product/M8754G/A
If you want sound, you'll either want a 3.5mm stereo to RCA / Phono stereo lead also, similar to this:

    Hope that this helps

  • Sony Bravia KDL-40W600B Media Player stopped

Just bought my Sony Bravia KDL-40W600B and the Media Player stopped playing my movies from an external HD, is there any solution for this problem from the company? I heard a lot of similar complaints, what SONY is doing about it? Can this bug be fixed? I recently own a Samsung 3D and I don't have this problem and my HD movies played smoothly and it loaded fast. What SONY have to say?

    Hello allanhguibone,
Greetings and thank you for your message. We would like to recommend to try the steps available through the following links since they represent a possible solution to the problem you are describing with the external HD not working with the media player.

  • Connect a mini hifi to my sony bravia kdl-60w610b?

Is there a way to connect my lg LG CM4530 Mini HiFi System to my sony bravia kdl-60w610b?

    Hi Folks,
It's easy, there's just a few things you need to know.
Bought the minidisplay to HDMI cable off ebay for about £6.00. Pluged in both ends OK. Had to disconnect the recorder first. Might have to look at some kind of splitter so I don't have to do this every time.
Select the HDMI input on the tele.
At first the TV will only display the basic Mac background picture (stars) You need to 'Mirror' the displays, and sort out the sound.
Go to 'System Preferences' and select 'Displays'. With the Mac plugged into the TV you get an extra tab (Arrangements) at the top of the box. Select 'Arrangement' and check the 'Mirror Displays' box.
Next from System Preferences select 'Sound'. Both 'Internal Speakers' and the TV are listed. Select the TV.
    All should be working now.
HD video without Blueray - result!!
    Cheers

  • Sony Bravia KDL-52S5100 LCD Picture?

My husband just hooked up our new Sony Bravia KDL-52S5100 LCD with an HD cable box from Comcast.  I have seen several Sony LCD's in other people's homes and somehow the picture looked sharper than what I see on ours.  Do we have to do any type of tuning to get it to look sharper.  It is not grainy but it just doesnt seem as sharp as other HD picutures I have seen.
I dont want to have a fight with my husband who thinks it looks fine but I am wondering if there is anything we can do to make the picture sharper.  Thank you for any help with this.

How a tv "looks" is very subjective actually. And many things can effect how a tv looks to a certain person. One person might like one setting and another person something different. Most of the high definition tvs I have seen all look pretty equal if they have the same settings and are fed the same source. They all use the same amount of lines of resolution so the picture should look the same if set up correctly. The differences in prices normally have to do with other features the tvs may or may not have, not the actual display in the tv.
Here are some of the things that can make a tv look different than another:
Screen size and viewing distance. How big a screen is and how far away you are from it can effect how the picture looks. Smaller screens at the correct viewing distance tend to look more "crisp" since the pixels are smaller. A larger tv up close will tend to not look as crisp, especially with a less than perfect source.
Which brings us to source material. What you put into a tv has a large impact on what it looks like. Like said above not all HD content is equal. The person shooting the video has many artistic choices as to how he/she wants to shoot or light the material. Some go for a softer film like look, while other stuff has a very detailed live video look to it. The video always looks more sharp and crisp, but some times looks "too real" for the person directing the film or tv show. The original CSI show on CBS is a good demonstration of this. When they first started shooting in high def it had more of a video feel to it and was very detailed and crisp. Then in later seasons they switched to a softer film like quality which was not quit as impressive on a high def tv. Its still high def, just an artistic choice the director and producer decided to make is all.
Also not everything you see on your hi def cable box is hi def material. A lot of it started out as 480i analog and was converted at some point to a higher resolution. Either by the cable company or your tv. Anytime you do this it effects how the picure looks. When a tv has to convert 480i to its native resolution it can look pretty good to down right crappy depending on how good it looked to start with. And the bigger the tv or higher the resolution the worse it can look. This is why many opt for a 720P instead of a 1080P tv.
Also the tv settings themselves have a huge impact on how the tv "looks" to you. Changing the brightness, contrast and other settings have a big impact on how much detail and "punch" the tv will have when viewed. Does not alway mean its better though. Most tvs on the showroom floor or out of the box are calibrated very poorly with the contrast and brightness set way to high and the colors and saturation are off. They do this to make one tv stand out more when its next to 20 others in a brightly lit store.
Ambient room light makes a difference too. The more ambient light there is or light on the screen can tend to "wash out" the picture. It will not look as crisp and will lose some color and detail to your eyes.
Also how the tv is hooked up to its source matters. In order of quality it goes: HDMI, Component (three cables just for the video), composite ( the cheesy little yellow rca cable for video) and RF (the coaxial cable that screws into the tv's attenna jack). HDMI and component will look pretty close to the same and both will pass high definition signals, HDMI is technically better though. Composite will not look as good and RF will look the worst unless its a digital over the air hi def signal.
So its very possible the TVs you saw that looked "better" may have been hooked up different, may have had better source material, may have had a different screen size and a farther viewing distance. Or they may have had different picture settings with more controled lighting in the room. Its also a possibility the tvs that you thought looked better were actually set up wrong and you just like the brighter picture and over saturated colors.
Something else to consider is to some a properly adjusted or calibrated tv doesn't look "as good" as a stock tv. Simply because its not as bright and the colors have less punch to them because the saturation and tint is set correctly. So the calibrated tv tends to look dim and more subdued compared to a tv that has all its settings ramped up. However the properly adjusted tv will be more accurate, closer to what the director wanted you to see and will last longer. And sometimes the "sharper" tv is actually adding video noise to the picture to make it look more crisp. When in reality its adding things to the picture that should not be there.
So its possible that your husband may have adjusted your tv more correctly or is using a pre set that is closer to what it should be. Normally the "movie" setting is fairly close to what a tv should be.
Without actually putting your tv next to another one and feeding it the same signal its nearly impossible for the average person to tell.
