Sony camcorder Audio recovery

We plugged the external speaker cable in the wrong jack on a Sony HDR CX430V camcorder.  Instead of plugging it into the microphone jack, we plugged it in the headphone jack.  Is there any way to recover the audio in Audition?

Thank you for replying.  To be clear, it was while we were filming.  We simply plug the speakers in the wrong port.  I had hoped that the internal speakers would have recorded the audio as well, especially since the external speakers were plugged in the headphone port.

  • Sony camcorder not recognized on Imac?

I have an older Sony Camcorder Digital 8 mm.  I plugged into my new Imac via USB cable and there is no recognition that a device is connected.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It needs to be connected via firewire (all tape-based cameras do).
    Does the model appear here?
    iMovie 11 - cameras supported:
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/cameras/en/index.html?lang=en_US
    Also, try this:
Open the Audio MIDI Setup (Utilities folder) and set the default audio output to 44100hZ. Then make sure that the audio output of the camera is set to 16 bits and not 12 bits. Try the camera again.
    If no luck try these:

A Sony fix is suggested here:

If you are using a Sony MPEG-2/AC3 camcorder, then make sure QT v7.6.3 is installed in your "Applications/Utilities" folder. If it isn't, then install it from your Snow Leopard installation "Extras" installer package and then re-install your QT MPEG-2 Playback Component as per the MPEG Streamclip installation/Snow Leopard instructions.

  • After upgrading to Mavericks my iMac does not see Sony camcorder in iMovie anymore. It still works on MacBook, so nothing wrong with camera or connections.

After upgrading to Mavericks my iMac does not see my Sony camcorder anymore. I tried the new iMovie as well as the old version 9.0.9, which is still in Applications. I checked the camcorder and connections in iMovie on my MacBook (not upgraded) and that still functions properly, so the problem does not seem to be in iMovie, old or new, or in camcorder and connection.
Anybody with the same problem or a solution?
    Thanks mbkom

  • Video Out to Sony Camcorder does work

I used a Apple cable (Monitor out to Serial or RCA) to video recorder what is on my mac's screen (using the camcorder as a second monitor. The G5 does not see the sony camcorder.. however, when you use the video out from a powerbook under display preferences the dialog box comes up detect displays and you can choose to miror the display and you can see the same mac screen on my camcorders display. On the G5 that option does not come up. I went to the Apple store and the Genius's did not know why the G5 could not recognize the sony camcorder as a second monitor? Anyone have a clue? I want to record what is on my G5 screen... any suggestions.

    NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT
Not sure which graphic card the Macbook Pro has.. but it worked just fine when I connect the appropriate adapter.. you could see the mac screen on my camcorder screen. I am trying to video tape Itunes visualizer for a party so I can cut and paste into imovie.

The Adobe document for workarounds for DV or HDV data capture firewire in Premiere Elements 13/13.1 is found

  • Xfer from Sony Camcorder to Mcbook Pro but not my Imac  ???

Yes. I just took my Sony Camcorder to the APple store with my firewire cable and my MacBook pro running Tiger. (as does my Imac). So the xfer worked fine at the Apple store, but when I get home and hook the camcorder up to my Imac and do everything the same, I get an "Unable to intialize HDV deck" message. Played with cable, rebooted everything several times. but my FC Express in my Imac will not see the camcorder. Any thoughts on what else to try?

Please give your full system specifications, what computer, what drives, what camera or deck, how everything's connected, what settings are on the media, what settings you're using in Final Cut, and finally what version of the software, of the OS, and of QuickTime you are using.

HOW CAN I DOWNLOAD AND VIEW THE MOVIES I HAVE MADE WITH MY SONY CAMCORDER HDR-XR550VE?

Thanks for being so helpful. I chased up the web-link but was not sure it would work with .cpi, so didn't opt to buy it.
Then I went on to the Sony support page and found this - which works fine, and has very clear instructions.

Once again many thanks for helping me along the path to success with this.

  • Connecting Sony Camcorder to Powerbook

I connected my Sony Camcorder's USB into my laptop and my laptop doesn't it find it when i try to import it to iMovie.
Should a new hardrive show up when i connect it to the USB like how the iPod's are connected?

It's my understanding that iMovie only imports via Firewire ports, and only DV format - not formats on DVD or hard drive cameras via USB.

  • New sony camcorder only has HDMI output, how to get in to iMac?

My dad is looking to get a new Sony camcorder. He edits using FCE.  Problme is, the latest cameras have moved from firewire output to HDMI. Is there any type of dongle than will allow HDMI A/V to be input to a early 2011 27" iMac so he can get his video??
    Thanks

I know it's the wrong forum, but why are you trying to transfer video from a new camcorder using HDMI? Most modern camcorders are file based, and you can either transfer the footage to FCE by taking from the memory card or connecting the camcorder via a USB cable to get to the files. From more info, look at the FCE forum as andy says (earlier version of FCE don't support AVCHD footage - check what type of camcorder it is).

  • Macbook Air and Sony camcorder hard drive problems

My new Mac Book Air will not respond in I Movie to my new Sony camcorder with internal hard drive but will sometimes with the SD card.....can anyone give me a clue please.

I opted for the 11-inch mainly due to portability, but went with the 128GB model. Once I have all my critical apps installed (including Adobe Lightroom and CS4), I still have about 85GB free.
One of the reasons I got the MBA is for traveling and downloading photos from my camera while on the road. If the 128 isn't enough, I have a WD Passport drive that I can use for backup & freeing up space should the need arise. So far, I haven't had to connect the external drive, so I'm happy I opted for the 11-inch. The size is perfect for portability without compromising keyboard size or resolution.

  • Sony camcorder support?

What is the best way to import movers from my Sony camcorder to my MacBook pro?

    Greetings,
Depending on what version of iMovie came with your computer and if the model of camcorder you have is on the supported list,  importing directly to iMovie from the camcorder would be the built in method on your computer:
    iMovie '11: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/9.0/en/mov39f84bc2.html
    iMovie '09: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3290
Otherwise you might need additional software to convert the file type that camera produces.
If you plug the camera into the computer and look inside it you can see what type of file it creates (.mov, .dv, .mts, etc.)  Once you know what kind of file it creates we can suggest programs to  convert them.
    Cheers.

just bouught a new sony camcorder 1080p model HDR-CX110 and i recorded a video and took a couple photos,i started reading the manual and it says the enclosed softeare is not compatible with mac, they gave a website for mac users to go to for help, on the site it states that only still images can be transfered to a mac.
