Sony Clie, PEG-SJ22

I have upgraded my computer which has Windows Vista. My Clie Installation CD is no longer accepted by the system. I have downloaded the Palm OS V.4.4. When I try to synchronize, I am getting an error to download the driver
software. I have searched the net, but have not been able to find the driver.
Can anyone help me out to where to look and what to do? Thanks

Hello!
I havent had much testing options of the Clies on Vista but your could try either Palm Desktop version 4.1.4e or 6.2.2 from our website.  Pretty certain 6.2.2 will not work so try out 4.1.4e.  That version will ONLY yield PIM sync at best but this is not gurantee.  To get the 4.1.4e download, choose the Palm TX for device and Windows XP for OS.  To note our software is designed around Palm products so results will vary for your Clie.  Hope this helps.

  • Please how do i? (sony Clie PEG-SJ22 )

Hello, this is my first post here. Im looking forward to learning something since for the life of me I am clueless.
I bought this hand held(sony Clie PEG-SJ22 ) cheap on eBay because i wanted to read text files and PDF files from my laptop
    while on the go.
i am tryinh to connect the palmtop and the desktop trough Infra Red and i have read all the instructions and tried to fallow them to the T but i get nada.
I installed the palm os software and hot link software in my win XP laptop but i have proven that trying to figure it out on my own is just giving me a headache.
can someone point  me to some help reading.  Do i have to do some extra set up on my lap top?
the hot link software manual says it configures automatically but nothing.
i also tried to set up a new infra red conection in my laptop but nothing.
i hope someone can help me  thanks

    Hello!
First do make sure you do have infrared on your laptop, its not exactly a standard anymore.
The Palm Desktop defaults to the use of USB so with IR, some setup is required on your pc.  On the PDA, just set it to Local and connect via IR.  On the PC, go into the hotsync manager and put a check in for Loca/Serial.  Afterwards in the hotsync manager, go into Settings and hit the Local tab to choose the correct COM port.  Might have to do trail and error with the COM ports pending if another application is using one.  Afterwads, line up you pda to the IR port on your computer and give a try!

  • Sync information from a Sony Clie Peg UX 50 to a macbook

I just purchased my Macbook and can't sync my pda. I bought the missing sync, but when I went to install it the manuel stated that I would need to snyc first before installation so I removed the program. Help please.

What exactly did the message say?
If you don't have the Palm Desktop installed, you can download a copy of Palm Desktop 4.2.1 revision D here:
    http://www.palm.com/us/support/macintosh/macdesk421revd.html
If you do have it installed but get a message indicating that the HotSync Manager is not installed or has never been launched, then that's a different problem entirely, which requires that you use one of these two methods to correct the issue:
Take a look at the permissions of the folders listed below. Your permissions for the folders listed below should appear as described below the pathname to that folder:
    For the Macintosh HD:Applications:Palm folder:
    Ownership & Permissions
    You can: Read & Write
    Details
    Owner: <shortusername>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: Read only
For the Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:Palm Desktop folder:
    Ownership & Permissions
    You can: Read & Write
    Details
    Owner: <shortusername>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: Read only
For the Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:Palm HotSync folder:
    Ownership & Permissions
    You can: Read & Write
    Details
    Owner: <shortusername>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: Read only
You can either reset those values manually, [then restart and recheck them to be sure that they are set correctly] or use the Terminal application by typing these strings listed below this example—substituting your short user name—as shown below:
    sample: "sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Applications/Palm"
    actual: "sudo chown -R michaellafferty:admin /Applications/Palm"
…where michaellafferty is the <shortusername> in my case. Be sure to pay attention to the spaces in each string, and the direction of the / or \ [forward and back slash] characters.
Here are the appropriate Terminal entries. Each is is shown bulleted below, but actually begins with the term sudo:
    • sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Applications/Palm
[NOTE: at this point, you'll be asked to enter your login password]
    • sudo chmod -R 775 /Applications/Palm
    • sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ HotSync/
    • sudo chmod -R 775 /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ HotSync/
    • sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ Desktop/
    • sudo chmod -R 775 /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ Desktop/
Again, pay particular attention to the spaces and to the \ characters, as both are critical to the syntax of these commands. Remember to place your actual shortusername in the string where the <shortusername> placeholder is shown, as in the sample above. [Do not include the < and > characters around your actual shortusername.]

  • Syncing calendar from macbook to PEG sj22

I have a macbook with latest leopard OS. I sync to a clie' PEG SJ22.  Most everything seems to sync okay, but I can't get calendar items from my Mac to my clie'.  I can't even seem to find the settings window that would allow me to direct the calendars to sync up.
    Can anyone help?

Are you trying to sync to the Palm DT calendar, or iCal?
You should be able to sync to the Palm DT calendar from you Clie. You would access the settings on the Palm DT, select Hotsync, then Conduit Settings, Then make sure it is set to syncronize under calendar. If these settings are correct, and you still are unable to sync, you may have a data corruptions issue on you Clie. You can try to overwrite either the Clie, or the Plam DT by selecting HH overwrites DT, or DT overwrites HH depending wher you most update

  • Sony Clie with Powerbook? Help

I just got my Dad's old PDA which is a Sony Clie PEG-T665C which runs Palm OS. I was wondering will this work with my Apple Powerbook. The reason being is because I noticed the CD had "windows only"
I REALLY want and hope for this to work, are there anywork arounds... I just want it to sync with iCal and Address book so I do not see why this could not work... So any ideas on how to setup this up please? Oh also of note, this is my first palm so I am new to it...

  • Synk With sony CLie?

I have a Sony Clie Peg NX70V and cradle. Is there a way i can make it do the following with my MBP, sofar i am unsuccesful.
    Sync Memos with Palm desktop
    Sync Programs with Palm Desktop
    Sync Addresses with adress book
Sync Datebook and To-Do with iCal
Without any non-free software, i could buy The Missing Sync if I had to but what are the advantages. Also, when i check an iCal event on the computer will it check on the palm when i Sync?
    Xelapond

Try Missing Sync. If it doesn't work, you don't have to pay for it. If it does work, the clear advantage is that it works.
I am a big fan of Missing Sync, but I use Palm devices. As for what other advantages Missing Sync brings to the table, the best way to find out is to check http://www.markspace.com

  • Sony Clie NZ90 and Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)

    Good afternoon!
I have done my best to Search and read through many of the Sticky and normal posts that might relate to trying to get my Clie to talk to my new HP laptop, on both this forum as well as others.  I think that there may still be a couple of things to try; however, I would be very appreciative if one or more of you can help shorten the process for me, since I've already invested a dozen hours or so on this issue and I'm a bit tired and frazzled.
    - My Clie came with Palm Desktop v4.x.  In its HotSync Manager or elsewhere, I do not see a bluetooth setting.  I'm wondering if that it's only in Palm Desktop v6.x?  If so, is Palm Desktop v6.x compatible with Sony Clie NZ90 (i.e., can I upgrade to v6.x without losing all of my data)?  If not, is there any way I can do a bluetooth HotSync using Palm Desktop v4.x?  Both the Clie and my HP laptop have bluetooth.
    - My new HP laptop is a 64-bit machine.  I have tried installing the Sony Clie / Palm Desktop software from both the regular as well as the x86 Program Files directories, and I get an immediate incompatibility notice, so I am unclear as to how to get Windows 7 to recognize the Clie and Palm Desktop even using the Aceeca drivers.  Running under Windows 7 is not critical, since I have a Windows XP Virtual Machine that seems to work well, but I figured I should ask in case I was missing something obvious.
    - As I said previously, I have the Windows XP Virtual machine up and running.  I installed the Sony Clie / Palm Desktop software with no problem, and I can use the Palm Desktop v4.x.  However, when I try to HotSync via USB, the Windows XP Virtual machine tries to load drivers, and can't find them.  In the past (on previous Windows XP machines), I have just had to specifically point the wizard to (browse to) the NZ90 drivers, and they would load.  This failed on my laptop.  I tried the Aceeca drivers, and they, too failed.  Going to the Device Manager, I see that it's identified as a virtual machine device, rather than seeing it as a Palm Handheld device.  Could this be the problem, and if so, is there a workaround?
    - Is there anything else I'm missing at this point that can get me up and running?
Thank you in advance for all of your patience and expertise!

Something may be awry with the special registry permissions on the My Music folder, Just. I think the iTunes installer looks for those in order to determine just where the default location of My Music is on a given computer.
But since this is a first-time install, the situation should be pretty simple to recover from.
Hold down the shift key when you go to launch iTunes. In the dialog box that comes up, select "Create library" and put the library where you please.
Probably a good idea after doing that to try launching iTunes again, just to make sure that it is still finding the iTunes folder. But by default, next time you open iTunes (after creating a new library), it should try to open the library in the location you created the library in.

  • Conversion of Palm Desktop Data (for Sony Clie)

Is there any software available that will convert my Palm Desktop (for Sony Clie) data to a format that can be uploaded to an iPhone (3G)?

I believe PocketMirror from http://www.chapura.com should do just what you need. It will move everything from your Palm to Outlook, which iTunes can then work with. Hope it helps!

  • Can't Sync with Sony Clie with OS 10.4.6

    Hi,
Has Apple dropped compatability with the Sony Clie (Palm)?
All I get with my G5 2GHz DP is a notice that files (Palm) are locked when attempting to sync -- and the link disconnects when uploading files to the Sony Clie using Palm OS 4.2.1.
However, I can upload the files on my 667 MHz PowerBook running OS 10.4.5.
    Cheers,
    John Kramar

You need to get Missing Sync for Palm OS from MarkSpace.com. It'll let you sync your Clie with your Mac. I use it with my TJ37 and it works perfectly.

  • Sony Clie & iSync

I'm not having a problem, but I have a question. Up until recently, when I would sync my Sony Clie, iSync would open and it would open Palm Hotsync, then it would sync with iCal and Address Book. Now iSync no longer opens, just Hotsync. I'm wondering what happened to iSync, is it no longer necessary for syncing with the Palm OS? I didn't change anything that I'm aware of, except I have upgraded the OS, now 10.4.4.

I honestly don't know how data could be synchronized between your device and either [or both] iCal and the Address Book with iSync not running, or the iSync Palm Conduit not enabled. They are the software 'mechanism' by which data is transfered to and from those applications.
The HotSync Manager still runs when you press the HotSync button and will execute any properly configured conduits it finds in the active Conduits folder, including the iSync Palm Conduit. Your HotSync log would tell you more about what is going on - the iSync log is almost useless since the release of iSync 2.

  • Uploading calendar from sony clie

How do I get calendar data, address data, etc. from my Sony Clie to the ipod touch without typing everything manually?  The Clie itself is dead so the files are on my PC with Vista operating system.

Can you sync the Clie data to someprogam that the iPod can sync with?
Can you export the the data  and then import the data in a program that the iPod can sync with.  This usually applies to Address book.

  • Sony Clie problems

My son-in-law gave me his Sony Clie.  I used the installation disc that accompanied the device.  It installed a different version of desk top. (I already had the most recent version of desktop on my computer).  Now I cannot access any of my data.  Help, please.

Hello Montague and welcome to the Palm forums.
Sony did things differently than Palm.  You may not be aware, but Sony has stopped making the Clie some years ago and the version of Palm Dekstop that you installed from the Clie software CD is not compatible with the version for your current Palm.
I would suggest that you reinstall Palm Desktop from the CD that came with your Palm-braded device.  I would try just running the installer right over the top of whatever you have installed now to try and preserve your data.

  • Double birthdays with Sony Clie

My problem is that if I sync my Sony Clie activating the iCal-option "Show birthday calender" I have all birthday entries twice on my handheld. If I tick off "Show birthday calender" in iCal and snyc, they appear only once on the handheld but of course I can't see them on iCal any more... Any suggestions? Thx
    iBook 1.07 GHz PowerPC G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Sony CLIE T625C

If you synchronize with a Birthday calendar enabled on your Macintosh desktop or portable computer and have also enabled the Palm contacts database on your Clié to show birthdays, when you synchronize, both birthday entries will show up in the Calendar database on your Palm device. This occurs because the data is coming from two different applications, but is not perceived as being the same data.
To avoid this problem, disable either the Birthday calendar on your computer (which you have already tried) or disable the birthdays feature on the handheld.

  • Windows 7 64bit & Sony Clie SJ22

    Hi,
I've been scouring the forum and am looking for a way to sync my wife's Clie to Windows 7 64bit.  I followed advice here and purchased a USB infrared adapter.  I was able to sync with it prior to the upgrade.  I do have Professional but my machine does not support virtualization, so I can't sync under XP mode.  I installed the palm desktop 4.1.  When I attempt to sync, I get an error on the handheld:
"Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application"
I would try Palm Desktop 6.2, but I don't think it will work with the Clie, and I'm not sure what I would need to do to get it to work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Trent

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

After some more searching I did get this to work   I discovered the "port is in use .." was a common error with IrDA syncing per this IrDA faq.   I had to disable beam receive, and do a soft reset.
I also was able to install Palm Desktop 6.2, and then install PalmHotSyncSetup a free download from Pimlico software which allows 6.2 to work with the legacy devices.  I found that out from here:  http://forum.brighthand.com/showthread.php?t=261651
So, I was able to sync and backup the device.  However it is horribly slow.  What was a few seconds in XP takes 10+ minutes.
