Sony dn1050 hdmi handshake, menu image disapears

I've just bought a SONY DN1050 and I have the following problem:
- I connect it through a brand new hdmi 1m long cable to a Panasonic TX55AS802 TV
- Switch ON the TV
- Switch ON the receiver
- The receiver's menu appears in the screen in the HDMI 1 port
- After a few seconds or after a few clicks in the menu, the image fully dissapears from the screen
I've checked the following:
- Another HDMI cable
- Both cables works fine with a PS3 and the same TV
- Factory reset the TV
- Factory reset the receiver
- Disconnect all speakers and leave only the HDMI cable to the TV
Any idea why the image just disapears or what can I do? Is the unit faulty?

"Type mismatch" error in IE7/8 when using custom Actions Menu Image

Hi all,
in APEX 4.2: when using a custom image in the "Actions Menu Image" attribute in an interactive report, I get a "Type mismatch" error in IE7/8 when refreshing the report through PPR (filtering, sorting, paginating etc.). When I leave the "Actions Menu Image" field empty, everything works fine. The error doesn't seem to happen in IE9 (unless using compatibility mode), or in any non-IE browser.
I've been able to reproduce the issue in an application on apex.oracle.com:

Some debugging seems to indicate that the following line in widget.interactiveReport.js is the culprit:

Great solution Paul! It cost me a while before I found out the Action Menu Image was causing my interactive reports to stop refreshing in IE10 and not other browsers. Your solution works great, I've implemented it with a few minor adjustments:
- Put the css in report template (for some reason it didn't work in our own application stylesheet)
- replace 'url("/c/action_dropdown.gif")' with 'url("&APP_IMAGE_PREFIX./<path_to_image>")'
- place one dynamic action on page 0: after refresh of '#apexir_DATA_PANEL' , set event scope to "Dynamic".
- Let the Dynamic action also fire on page load.
- To make sure the dynamic action only works for pages with an interactive report add condition of type 'Exists' with expression:

Help creating custom menu images

Hi,
I've been struggling while trying to create original menu images. I've placed .png images on my page and chose the page they should link out to and I've also added states to each object but when I preview, they don't link out or show any of the states. What am I doing wrong?

In edit mode you can also use the arrow keys to step the photos - go to the next photo or previous photos.

I believe you will need css knowledge regardless of which
method you use.
The spry widget will get automatically inserted onto your
page, but you will
need to edit the associated css file to customise the way it
looks :-)

does 1.9 fix the HDMI handshake issue experienced by users with the Newer 7 series set top boxes? Frankly, that is my biggest desire for this new software.

In general there ae fewer handshake issues with the 7xxx boxes
1.9 does include some fixes for some handshake issues. For motorola boxes it includes new firmware from Motorola as well as Verizon's new IMG.

Macbook to Sony Bravia HDMI

Help.
I have a cable and adaptor to connect my macbook to my sony bravia tv.
On the TV I get the purpley sunrise picture and if I drag the macbook screen image to the right it appears on the tv (like it is on the next page), but obvioulsly the two are not synching and I have no sound. Help

Yes...using layered menus will do the trick. Look in the manual under pg. 297

VGA to HDMI cord=no image

I made the right connections, chose the right option on my tv and I still have no image. I did the same thing with an dvi to hdmi connection and I still have no image. Any suggestions? I have an Olevia 26" lcd tv.

I got caught up in this. I had an original Mac Mini which I was connecting to a VGA using the DVI and a converter. I bought a latest version Mac Mini and found that the DVI/VGA converter didn't fit.
I went to the Apple store and bought a VGA to DVI HDMI converter at £21 ($33) only to find that this did connect but nothing came through. I took the mini back and they tested it - "yup, the HDMI works, the DVI works but the VGA is dead - we will replace it".
Got home to find that the replacement was exactly the same. On investigation, it seems that the original Mac Mini had a (I think ) version 3 DVI which carried the analog signal through - see the flat plate on the connector - the original has 4 pins around it which are for the analog. These four pins are missing on the latest DVI so - no analog.
I went out and bought a new screen that is DVI compliant - an unexpected £110 ($175) cost.
It seems that this difference is not referred to anywhere and that even the Apple Stores are not fully aware. I have to say that our local Apple store is a franchise and as such may not have the same information so Apple 'real' stores may know this. That said, my local store was extremely helpful and willing - didn't refund my £21 though.

Both cameras are being triggered at the same time, and both boards are aquiering the image at the same time. The problem you are seeing is related to copying the correct image.
The IMAQ driver is not currently multithreaded, therefore your second copy opperation can not execute until your first one is done. The trouble is that you have the immediate terminal set to false which forces the copy to wait for the next available image before returning.
Since the second copy does not execute until the first one is complete, it will consider the frame that just passed as old and wait for the next available frame.
The quick solution is to change the immediate terminal to true on both copies. The best solution depends on your entie application. You may want to re
ad this application note on Ring Aquisitions for ideas.

Sony DSC-RX100 Video and Images supported?

Hey all,
I was wondering about if anyone has a DSC-RX100 that they have successfully used with iPhoto. Successful = imported video & images by connecting their camera to iphoto and clicking import.
I had a dsc-hv9v sony camera which was great until its demise. The issue was the images came over fine but the videos did not. (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5251) Sony uses a MTS (AVCHD) format. Which seems to have issues importing to iphoto.

Will Onkyo 1080p AR resolve the HDMI "handshake" problems?

Question, I'm plan to upgrade my audio receiver and thinking of going to a 1080p upconversion such as an Onkyo SR806. This requires a set up of the HD DVR (Motorola 6416-2) with HDMI to the receiver and HDMI to the Samsung LCD. Will that cure the "handshake" issues with this box?
The signal loss problem is on going and I've tried component cable but there is a loss of PQ. Component cable is an alternative but not a fix. Forum research shows this problem has existed for a while.

I have a SR 875 with a QP6416.
Things you will want to watch out for:
1. If the video formats come out as native, and the receiver is set to upconvert, then you may notice some lag when changing channels.
2. Audio hiccups in the feed cause the receiver to freak out for a few seconds causing missed dialog. On my old cheap receiver with no special processing, the audio hiccups were nearly unnoticeable.
3. If you have strange issues with the handshaking, you could try buying a $30 HDMI Switcher and just leaving it inbetween the two devices. I have found this helps my PC from losing that a second monitor is connected when the receiver is turned off.

Problem with Sony NEX-5 camera raw images in Aperture 3.

Aperture 3 cannot says the RAW files from my Sony Alpha NEX-5 camera are an "unsupported image format". Aperture 3 is a full new copy (not an upgrade) purchased 10 days. My mac is an iMac 3.08 GHz Intel 2 Core, running 10.5.8, and with 4GB of 800 MHz RAM. All software upgrades have been performed.
Aperture 3 says RAW files from my camera are supported. I downloaded directly from the camera by USP in the correct USP setting in the camera , i.e. 'mass storage mode'. Preview can see the .arw files but iPhoto and AP3 cannot. I've read that a possible fix is to down load via a Firewire 800 card reader. I'd rather avoid that as they cost about AU$170 - which is quite an impost when AP3 just cost me AU$249.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yesterday I found a similar post about the same issue with a new Canon camera. They fixed the problem by copying the files from the camera to a folder on the computer. Then they loaded the files into AP3 from the folder. Great news; it worked!!
Thank you for your thoughts on iMovie as I had not tried to download movie content yet. You prompted me to do a little trial. No problem. iMovie 08 read the ACVHD movie and it looks great.

I'm getting an Internal Muxer Error when trying to build a DVD project with still menu images

It originally happened with moving menu content and a help search said it was due to the loop point on a menu being after the end point of the asset but this was not the case.
I've now changed all the menu content to static images and the error is still occurring.

If you want a still image for your DVD menu, click on the Menu in the Outline, then look at the Inspector. Is the Duration set to 0? If not then change it to zero. Also look below that to "At End" and make sure that is set to Still.
Also make sure the image that you imported was a RGB image in either JPEG, TIFF, PNG, or PICT format (PNG would be your best choice), and that the image is SD resolution (i.e., 720x480 for NTSC).
