Sony dsc-wx150 digital camera doesn't connect in iPhoto

Just got a Sony DSC-WX-150 digital camera. Already have a Mac Mini, OS 10.7.xx latest updates, and iPhoto 11 with latest updates. When I connect the camera with the supplied usb cable and turn it on, iPhoto doesn't respond or show the mounted device. The Finder sees it and shows it in a window as a memory stick. Any idea why it doesn't show or what I can do about it? TIA
Jim

Thanks, Larry. Why couldn't that be in the Troubleshooting section or on Sony's web site? I'm sure I'm not the only one with a new memory card.

  • Can iPod  store video taken on Sony DSC-H1 digital camera?

I would like to be able to download the video segments I might take on my digital camera, to the iPod for storage, later to be transferred to my iMac for editing. Can this be done?? Thanks.

I'm leaving next week for holidays and I am looking
for a storage device. I don't want to take my laptop
with me as it is my employers. I want to be able to
store video files from my Sony DSC-W30 camera. Does
anyone know if the camera connection will work for
    this?
Well in case anyone was wondering. It works. You can't view them but they are all there. It is an excellent way to have digital storage device on the road. It does eat into the battery charge quite a bit though. Make sure it is well charged before you import photo's and video's.

  • Digital camera/printer-scanner connection to iPhoto

I recently purchased an iMac with iPhoto 08. I have an HP R707 Photosmart digital camera that iPhoto won't recognize. I followed the instructions in the iPhoto tutorial but iPhoto will not recognize the camera as a source and, in fact, freezes up. I have to Force Quit the application. A friend suggested getting a card reader. I looked on the Apple site and the first thing that popped up was an HP Photosmart printer/scanner with media readers. Well, I already have one connected to the iMac. The HP Photosmart C4180 All-in-one. I open iPhoto and insert the digital medium in the HP slot and try to download to iPhoto, but the HP tells me I need some software. What software? Why won't my camera connect? I'd actually prefer to use the printer/scanner since you can do more with it. Any assistance will be appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You'll have to contact HP to see what software it requires. A card reader is, IMO, the optimal method of uploading from the camera to iPhoto as the method works with any camera that has a removable media card.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • HT5182 I wonder if iPhoto supports the new Sony DSC-RX100 II camera.

I wonder if iPhoto supports the new Sony DSC-RX100 II camera. I know it is not supported by Aperture. Can anyone help please?

It's the system that supports the RAW formats. So if Aperture doesn't support it neither will iPhoto.
You'll have to wait until a new Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update is issued by Apple for the camera.

  • HT3946 Does Aperture RAW support the Sony NEX-5R digital camera?

If I have the Sony NEX-5R digital camera will this allow me to use the updated Aperture 3 and it's RAW feature?

Here is the list of supported cameras OS X Mountain Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats
The Sony NEX-5R was included in Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.0.2 so if you are running the most recent versions of Aperture and Mountain Lion you should be covered.

  • Digital camera doesn't show up in Finder

why does my digial camera not show up in Finder?  (camera is Nikon D7000)
there are situtions when you don't want to download photos, sometimes I'm just doing tests, and want to see photos in the camera instead of downloading them first.. ( at any rate this should be my choice to make, not Apple's....;-)
and: I want to see the camera in the FINDER (not iPhoto or any other program where you have to "import" the photos.. I don't like those programs and never use them..)
it doesn't even show up in Adobe Bridge, for pete's sake.. this is ABSURD..
sorry, but on the pc you see it right away in Windows Explorer....    no reason whatsoever why the mac shouldn't do this also...

I changed setting you mention (although I thought that applied strictly to what appears in DESKTOP, not all Finder windows/folders...)   made no difference..  just connected camera, the mac still won't read it...
I do know about iPhoto, iMovie, i-whatever...  I still would like to see camera in FINDER (or at the very least in Adobe Bridge.. )  what happens is simply that Apple has decided you can only download/see photos in the camera ONLY with APPLE software.. this ***** BIG TIME...   there's no good reason at all why Apple would do a ****** thing like this....  how users pull/view photos from a camera should be the USER'S choice, not Apple's...  (in general I don't like at all programs you have to "import" photos from, you don't get a choice as to where the photos are stored in yr HD..  I have a very large amount of photos, and have a specific organizing system, specif. way of naming the folders, etc.. and I need to choose exactly where the photos are stored.. )
(to responder who said it's a Nikon issue:  so Nikon decided to design their cameras so you can see photos in Windows Explorer in Windows machines, but they deliberately decided they didn't want them showing up in Finder windows on the mac?  find this a bit hard to believe..   am curious now, so will consult with Nikon, but I do find it hard to believe this is a Nikon decision...)
    thank you...

  • VuPoint Solutions DC-M306AT-VP Digital Camera - Does it work with iPhoto

I'm looking for an inexpensive digital camera for my son. One option is the VuPoint Solutions DC-M306AT-VP 3.1MP fixed focus camera. I saw it at Ritz Camera. Its only $69.
Has anyone tried connecting this camera to iPhoto? It has built in memory (16MB) plus an SD slot. I'm guessing that even if the camera won't work with iPhoto, the SD card can be read in an external reader. Your experiences would be greatly appreciated.

    Keith,
Thanks for your reply. After going to their website http://www.vupointsolutions.com (which I didn't find earlier because Google searches inundate you with sellers rather than OEM links), I found some more clues. The FAQ for this particular camera states no drivers are needed for Windows XP and 2000. This is typically true for standard USB devices like memory card readers and hard drives and those usually also work on a Mac so I'm getting more confident that it will work.
But, there was another odd entry in the FAQ that kind of turns me off. It states that its normal for the camera to drain the batteries dead even when its not being used. It has internal SDRAM to keep alive. If the batteries die, you lose any photos stored in the internal memory and they recommend using an SD card.
For a few dollars more (approx $112), I'm leaning towards the Nikon Coolpix L10 or Canon A460. I can use it myself when I don't want to lug the Canon Digital Rebel around.

  • Fuji S700 digital camera on USB connection unnoticed

Just given Fuji Finepix S700 dig. camera. Trying to import pictures to my MacB. Plugged USB cable from camera to MacB, & turned camera on, as instructed. It doesn't show up in Finder. The cable is plugged directly to the computer, not a hub or extension.
I have installed FinePix viewer as instructed. Owner's Manuel says: "In Mac OS X, you must set the automatic setup when the first time you connect the camera to your PC." [sic] I don't know what that means, & haven't found any help on the computer.
System Profiler does SEE the device, but that apparently doesn't help me import anything or otherwise deal w/ the camera.
    Thanks for your help.

Try going to your Applications and launching 'Image Capture', then plug you camera in and turn it on. That camera should set itself to USB mode regardless of the dial position you choose.

  • Mini mac will not register my digital camera. It connected the first day and I was able to upload some video; however, I pulled the USB out--there was a bad message--and I cannot get the mac to register that I plug it back in.

Have you downloaded everything that is on the camera? If so format the SD card on the camera (will erase everything on the card).
If you have not downloaded everything can you see stuff on the camera? If you have a card reader you could try putting the SD card in that and trying on the mini. If your mini has a SD card slot you could try that.
In any case format the card on the camera before taking more pics.
Next time be sure to eject the camera from the Mac properly and turn the camera off before disconnecting.
EDIT: You might also check the camera's USB Mode is set to PC.

  • JVC Digital camera not fully connected

I have a JVC GR-DVM70 and I have a Mac mini / SuperDrive that won't capture video from it. It does rewind it and start it playing but after 10 secs it stops saying no video captured. When I plug it in I do not get a Connected message. Anybody been through this before, I sure could use your help?

Same problem here with JVC GR-DX37. With iMovie it works fine but One Step DVD in iDVD stops with 'no video captured'.
Has anybody worked this out yet?
    Thanks

  • SunRay + Sony DSC camera

    Hi all!
I've got a short question, again.
I want to connect a Sony DSC-P92 digital camera to a Sun Ray 1
(USB-port). It's possible physically, but it is possible to access
    the camera and transfer photos?
I tried docs.sun.com and google but didn't found any useful informations.
Sony doesn't have a driver for solaris - so i must write my own one.
    But how?
    Thanks
    Julian

    Hi Ross
THANK YOU!!!! I've read lots of discussions on this and similar topics and this one worked for me. I'm sure others work as well but I am NOT technical at all and your directions were easy to understand for me. I am a new mom and new to MACs. I love my mac but the reason I got it was so that I could import movies of my little guy from the Sony HD video camera I got when he was born. I traded in my Dell because I was under the impression that the one computer that could import, read and allow me to edit (like make into short movies) was a Mac. Imagine my surprise when I couldn't! Why do they even sell HD video cameras to the general public when nothing can read or use the video, I'm completely perplexed!
I'm hoping you can help me again. Your directions worked like a charm for some of my video. When the import contained m2ts, modd, moff and mpg it worked like a charm (go figure, since your directions were for unmuxxing mpg). I tried and tried to use it for some of the other video and couldn't figure out why it worked sometimes and not others. The other imports only have m2ts, modd and moff. Is there anything I can do? Can I get these into iMovie as well? I have iMovie 09 and a MacBook Pro.
    Thank you so much!

  • Tutorial for SONY DSC-T100 camera?

    Hi,
I use a Power  Mac G4; run MacOS OX Tiger 10.4.11.  I need help in downloading pictures from my SONY DSC-T100 digital camera to my Mac.  The instructions on the SONY Manual are mostly for Windows users, and are very vague for the Mac users.  I need a step-by-step procedure to download pictures from my SONY camera to my Mac.
    Sincerely,
    Angel

I'm sorry, but there is no 10.7.5 - do you mean 10.4.x or 10.5.x or 10.6.x?
I asked because 10.6. (which you have now) no longer supports the classic environment, but previous OS's did. So, if the store "upgraded" you to the latest OS when you had it in for repair, then that would be the reason. So, if you can't remember which OS version was on it, I would call or go to the store and ask if they changed the OS version. Now, I'm not sure what a Sony Driver Disc is - do you mean it's the software that came with your camera? Depending on the format of your camera cards, you should be able to use a USB card reader instead which might be easier to deal with.

  • Can't see video picture with digital camera connected to Mac.

    Hi,
I just bought a Sony DSC-S650 digital camera and shot a 1 minute video. When I plug it into my iMac intel Core 2 Duo it imports into iPhoto and when I got to play it I get sound perfectly but no picture. The digital camera shoots in .avi so when it shows up in Quicktime it is in .avi format. The Quicktime dialogue box comes up and says I am missing some things and directs me to this other page with all these XVid and different players on there. I've loaded a few of them but still no picture showing up. Is there a specific one I should try or any other ideas?
I'm having no problem importing regular photos into iphoto just the video part.
    Thanks,
    S.

    Spiralgirl
The difficulty with the avi format is that it's really a hold all for a wide range of codecs.
    Some things to try:
Have you checked with Sony for an updated driver for for Camera?
    Try install Perian
Make sure that your Quicktime is up-to-date - it's at 7.1.5 now.
    Regards
    TD

  • Downloading stalls from Sony DSC-S90

I am having trouble downloading from my Sony DSC-S90 digital camera to iphoto. The camera has two short video clips (with audio) and about 30 photos on the memory stick.
When I connect to iphoto, it'll download the first 5 photos, then it hits the video clip and stalls. One time it skipped over the two videos and loaded the photo right after the videos, and then stalled, leaving another 24 photos stranded on my camera.
My wife has another model of Sony digital camera, which also takes short video (without sound); with that camera, we can load everything onto iphoto, even the video clips.
I tried loading onto imovie with this camera, but it has a USB rather than firewire connection, and it won't work.("camera not connected" shows on screen.)
    Any help greatly appreciated!
    Thanks-Remulak
G3 ibook   Mac OS X (10.3)   using external memory

Go into Image Capture, Preferences. Change the camera settings from iPhoto to Image Capture. Now try to download all the images to a convenient folder. If that works, you can import the images into iPhoto manually. Go back to Image Capture and change the camera settings back to iPhoto.
This sounds a bit like a memory card that needs formatting. Once the images are safely on your Mac, find the format command in the Sony menu.

  • Sony DSC-W1: Video imports w/o audio

My Sony DSC-W1 Digital Camera, which takes some pretty decent video, does not import the audio into iMovie. The video gets imported just fine, but the audio is not there.
The only way I could get around it was using Audio Hijack Pro to capture the audio for the video separately, and then importing that.
Does anyone have the same problem or know of a way to fix this?
