    Sony eReader with Mac:
How to put ebooks on reader when Error appears
1. First you buy your ebook(s) and download it to your Reader Library.
2. It goes to Status then into your Library.
3. Now go to Finder your book should be in the recent/Today section in epub form.
4. Open another Finder by going to File and New Finder Window.
5. In the new Window open Reader under devices.
6. Continue opening database/media/books.
7. Finally take the new ebook from the first Window and put it in the second Window.
8. DONE! And ENJOY!!

  • Sony eReader and Snow Leopard

Just learned after a few hours: Sony's new Mac OS X software - eBook Library - is only compatible with Leopard, not Snow Leopard. I know it says that in the system requirements, but I had to try. I am booted in 64 bit mode, so maybe 32 bit mode will help. I will try tomorrow and report back.
    Of note...
The eBook Library software launches and behaves as normal, but when the eReader is connected, all that comes up is "Error" next to the eReader icon. Anyone with a Sony eReader using this software please chime in here.
I have the PRS-600, latest Touch Edition.
At this point, still not totally convinced it is Snow Leopard, maybe just 64 bit thing. Additionally, I have trashed and reinstalled the app, and both the firmware on the device and the software are the latest.

I have a MacBook Pro and a MacPro both running 10.6.1. My Sony PRS600 is on its way so I can test that bit. I have installed the Sony eReader on both machines. On the laptop it appears to be running OK. On my MacPro I double click on the app and it starts, but although it starts, nothing works. If I click of anything in the menu bar - ie about, edit, file, view help etc absolutely nothing happens. I have Adobe digital editions on both machines and that works fine. The only difference is that I installed the Adobe software BEFORE the Sony on my MacPro and AFTER on my laptop.
    Any suggestions?

  • My sony ereader will not connect to Adobe Digital Editions

My sony ereader will not connect to Adobe Digital Editions even though my computer is authorized

When you register your ereader with SONY, you'll need to make sure that the
Reader Library entries were created on your hard drive for the ereader to
work properly.  Only some of them are supported by ADE.  There's a list in
    the HELP section of ADE.
Also, there have been some problems with the PRS-T1 model.
    Hope this helps!

  • Adobe reader app not working with sony ereader app.

Adobe reader on my android tablet does not accept login & therefore I can't get my Sony ereader app to work.
    How do I fix this?

I am having the same problem. While they might not have anything to do with each other, it seems to be connected to Adobe somehow .When I launch the App on my phone or my tablet,It asks for my sony e reader log in and password. When I put that information in, it then asks me for my adobe ID conformation ..Specifically it says        "Sony Reader Store is using Adobe DRM technology for rights protected content. Please enter your Adobe ID and password to proceed". So you can see how I might think they they are somehow connected. When I put in my Adobe ID and password, nothing happens..it just keeps going to the above mentioned screen and asking for the same info over and over. This happens on multiple devices (3 devices to be exact) so I am a little confused as to what I am doing wrong . I am sure I am missing a step. Perhaps I am asking my question in the wrong forum, but if sony ereader and adobe arent connected then why do they need my adobe log in ? I am not sure if the origifnal poster and I are having the same problem, but any help would be appreciated.

  • Digital Editions 3.0 transfer Sony EReader PRS-650 to new computer

Windows 8.1 x64 is not recognising my Sony PRS-650 in Digital Editions 3.0.  The Adobe ID is the name on both computers and is authorised in the Digital Editions menu.  When connecting to the new machine Digital Editions does not display the device in the left hand pane when it is connected.  Version on old machine is Digital Editions 2.0.
Just resolved this by installing the Sony EReader application, probably installed some drivers as well as the app.

  • Need help w/ Adobe Digital Edition (ADE) to download to Nexus 7 using Sony eReader

I am wondering if I can download an etextbook on Adobe Digital Edition (ADE) from my labtop to my Nexus 7 using Sony eReader.
I am trying to do this and coming up w/ this problem on my Nexus 7 - Sony eReader currently.
It will not accept Adobe ID under "Adobe ID Confirmation" on Sony eReader.
    It also says:
ATTENTION:  You need to enter the Adobe ID originally associated with your Reader Store account.  Usually, this ID is automatically created.
Do you know will these programs/devices be compatable w/ each other?   If not can I use Ipad as a last resort?

You should install an Adobe DRM compatible app on the Nexus 7.
I suggest Bluefire; also consider Akdiko or Overdrive but some people have issues registering them. Some tablets come with such an app preinstalled.  Authorize the tablet from within the app to use your Adobe ID (details vary from app to app, usually somewhere within Settings)

  • Sony ereader error in /var/log/system.log

I have had a sony ereader software installed which I deleted long time ago (by pressing command-delete from applications). But still getting error in /var/log/system.log
    [0x0-0xf00f].com.sony.ebook.readerlibrarylauncher[276]: MacInterfacesChangedCallback: 1 keys changed
I have these two items in the /Library/
    /Library//LaunchAgents/com.sony.ReaderDesktop.RunReaderDesktop.plist
    /Library//LaunchAgents/com.sony.ReaderLibrary.RunReaderLibrary.plist
Not sure if I need to delete them.
The sony ereader software doesn't start during system startup. I have deleted two unticked entry from sysetm preferences - users and groups - login items.
    Thanks.

  • Sony eReader PRS-650

not sure if this forum can help, but it's never failed me before....
New Sony eREader PRS-650. Worked like a dream for the first few days but now every time I connect it to to mac the reader library software crashes and closes, so can't transfer the eBooks. It seemed to happen after asking it to Sync. Any ideas?

    Hi Sjennings,
If your download has failed this could be caused by background running applications or security settings. To correct this issue please try the following.
Reboot your PC and re-download again from your account (remember once you have purchased an ebook you do not have topurchases it again).
If you are still getting an error, please try the following.
Close all applications running in the background. This includes exiting/disabling items running in the system tray (you can close these by right clicking and selecting exit, disable or close from the menu).
If you are trying to access the internet from a work PC or connection you may not have full access to the internet. Please check with your MIS/IT (Network Administrator) department to verify your access rights.
If you are on a dial up connection please disable any download accelerators before attempting to re-download you eBook.

  • I had to reinstall ADE on another computer.  Now it doesn't recognize my Sony eReader

I had to reinstall ADE on another computer.  Now it doesn't recognize my Sony eReader.  How do I get it to recognize it?  Do I need to "unauthorize" my ADE id on the 1st device?  Is that the problem?  How the hell do you talk to a live body at Adobe?  This is ridiculous.
    Ted

Hello -  the chat service for ADE helped me find an answer.  With Sony ereaders, you always need to have the Sony reader app installed on the same machine as ADE.  There are some drivers installed with the Sony reader app that are needed.  Since I did that, ADE now acknowledges my Sony PRS-350.
    Here is a link:  https://ebookstore.sony.com/download/
The chat line was very helpful with this; they tell me you cannot call in to get ADE support -  you can only use the chat box.

  • Sony ereader device not appearing in Digital Editions

My Sony eReader is not showing up as a device in Digital Editions so I can't transfer ebooks to ereader

  • Sony ereader and mackintosh

I have just bought a Sony Ereader PRS505 and find that it is not compatible with my Apple Macs (I have a Macbook and an iMac). I do not have access to a PC. Can anyone help me with loading the software into the reader?

You will not be able to purchase ebooks from the Sony Store (or Waterstones in the UK) unless possibly you can use a friend's PC to authorise the Reader.
If you plug the Reader into your Mac it will appear in the same way as an external hard disk or USB stick, and you can drag ebooks into it: a better way is to use Calibre to manage ebooks.
There is a huge number of free ebooks available at various sites, the best of which is Project Gutenberg.
There are a couple of useful Forums, on the Reader and on Calibre.

  • What's going to happen with my Sony Financial Credit account now that the Sony Store site is closing?

I got my Sony Financial Credit account at a Sony Store years back.  I am paying it down fast in hopes that there is an A99ii in the works and will be announced in mid September.  If not I will just have to settle for the A7Rii. Now that the Sony Online Store is closing and have pretty much closed the retail stores accessible to me, this account has become useless.  I have contacted Synchrony Bank  and the retailers they have given me are useless to me. I just want to know has there been any accomadation considered for those holding these accounts?  I feel like Sony is abandoning many of us by closing the retail stores and online store and leaving us with a worthless piece of plastic.

Hi flipicaneze, Our Sony Store customer service team should be able to assist you further with this. You can contact them either by phone (877) 865-7669 or email [email protected] Thanks, Hailey

  • Sony eReader FAILS-DON'T BUY

I'm trying to get the word out that the Sony eReader fails. For me it's about every 4 months. They will not give me my money back! Epic Fail. Stay clear of this product. Go with the Kindle.

Well first off, bummer man. Sounds like you are really having a hard time.
A question; If you keep having problems with Sony products, why have you purchased 4 of them?
My understanding is that the audio capability is primarily for Audio Books, not for using the eReader as an MP3 player. I still think it should do so, but I am not surprised in that this firmware version (1.0) cannot do it. I would suggest being patient.
I agree with you that there are problems with the 950. I have thousands of eBooks, and their reader software and OS software are not really designed to handle that quantity. Yet they advertise that thousands can be stored. The web browser does not save usernames and passwords. Very annoying. The eBook main screen is not configurable. And I am finding more issues as I continue to use the device.
All this said, I am playing the patient game. As a reader, this is a pretty cool device. Reading is legible and page turns are fast. Web browsing is decent, even supporting pages that have real-time updating elements (which only update those elements, not the whole screen).
So what I am going to do is use these forums to make suggestions on how they can improve their device. Support is not going to be able to help you, as the problems we are both seeing are embedded in the device. Only a new firmware can fix things.
I know this response is not going to make you happy, but maybe together, you, myself, and others who believe Sony's eReader can be a fantastic device, can pool our suggestions and get Sony to focus on those items we think are the most important.
