Sony ericsson W810i connection problem with macbook

I have a Sony Ericsson W810i, and I want to transfer some photo's from the phone to my macbook. I can get the bluetooth to link with the phone for tranfer, but I'm having problems when I try to use the USB cable. When I connect the USB cable, the phone recognizes the connection, and warns not to disconnect from the cable untill...etc. however, I never get an Icon on the computer recognizing the phone. in short, The mac never sees the phone. any ideas???

I don't believe Macs are cell phone compatible without some 3rd party hack or application. You might do a Google search for your phone model and Mac.
Do you Twango?

  • Interne connection problem with Macbook

I have a new 13 inch white macbook . It keeps on disconnecting with the internet . My PC laptops dont have this problem . I am using AT&T Gateway wireless modem . The macbook would show no connection and then after the diagnostics are run and the browser is closed and re-opened it connects with the internet, it is annoying . I am using safari and firefox both . The problem is more with online banks and online apparel stores not with yahoo or google.Seems the browsers are not compatible with these websites.
    Please help.
    Thanks

Yes, there are a few sites that are not 100% compatible with Safari OR Firefox, and work ONLY with Internet Explorer. Do the help files or instructions for your troublesome bank or merchant website(s) specify what browser(s) version(s) and operating systems they support?
Airport (wireless internet connection) problems to your network and/or wireless router are different, and 99.9% of the time, not related to browser compatibility issues.
Unpredictably connecting or disconnecting from a wireless router is a wireless networking problem, not a browser compatibility issue.
    *Wireless troubleshooting:*
Can you also connect to your Mac directly to your AT&T wireless router with an Ethernet cable?
That will help you diagnose what are connectivity/network issues, versus what are browser compatibility issues. If your browser(s) work fine with the troublesome sites when directly connected by wire, then you're NOT having browser compatibility issues. Macs are picky about wireless connections. My original inexpensive 'b/g' wireless router worked fine with my older Windows XP computer and Nintendo Wii, but my MacBook kept dropping the signal every 10 minutes or so. I upgraded to a famous brand 'n' wireless router, and my problems disappeared.
    *Browser Compatibility Troubleshooting*
    Indications of browser incompatibility are:
Fonts that don't display correctly, such as overlapping or missing letters or words.
Wrong colors or colors that obscure some parts of the screen.
Text that displays line by line at the left margin, over colored backgrounds, instead of as a web page.
Screen display design elements are wrong, such as a color box that seems too large or small for the text displayed on it.
Some or all of the 'button' elements of the website do not respond to pointing the cursor and clicking, even after refreshing the screen, and the only solution is to closing the browser.
Look carefully at the Status Bar at the bottom of the browser so see if it displays an Errors count. (Then choose Window, Activity, to see what errors are occurring.)
If you MUST have 100% Internet Explorer compatibility on your Mac, you can always purchase Windows and IE and install it under Bootcamp, Parallels, VMWare Fusion or similar programs.
Let me know what you discover.

  • Internet connectivity problems with Macbook Pro, mid 2012.

I have a Macbook Pro, mid 2012, running OS 10.8.5. My able to access the Internet is intermittent, both with Ethernet or Wifi. When I check Network settings, it indicates that I am connected, even though I cannot access the Internet.  I have to restart the compute to gain access again, which doesn't last. I've taken it to the local Apple Store.  They ran thorough diangostics tests which found no hardware problems.  I have done complete clean reinstalls of the OS as well.  I also have frequent Kernel Panic restarts.  I have no problems connecting through my router for my Imac via Ethernet, and wirelessly for a Windows laptop and smartphones and iPod.  Any suggstions out there?

If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out these instructions.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select the most recent panic log under the heading System Diagnostic Reports on the left. If you don't see that heading, select
View ▹ Show Log List   from the menu bar. Post the entire contents of the panic report — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) • Bluetooth Connection Problems With MacBook Air

I recently purchased a bluetooth speaker with plans to use it for both my computer and my iPod Touch 5. I had no problems connecting the speaker to my iPod, but for some reason my MacBook Air will not pick up the signal from the speaker.
Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to fix this problem?

    Thank you Linc,
I have tried disconnecting my iPod from it, but am still having trouble connecting my MacBook to the speaker.
    Do you have anymore suggestions?

  • Internet connection problems with macbook pro

why does my mac book pro keep dropping the internet?  When I go into diagnostics it says the ips, internet and server have failed but if I restart the computer it will connect again. i have spoken to my internet provider and replaced my router which seemed to temporarily fix the problem.

Please test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Take the applicable steps in this support article. The Wireless Diagnostics program generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
    Step 2
Disconnect all USB 3 devices. If you don't know which are USB 3, disconnect all USB devices except keyboard and mouse.
    Step 3
If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. If you don't have that menu, open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked Show Bluetooth in menu bar. Test. If you find that Wi-Fi works better with Bluetooth disabled, you should use the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band. Your router may not support it; in that case, you need a new router.
    Step 4
Open the Network pane in System Preferences and make a note of your settings in the Wi-Fi service. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the various tabs in the preference pane. If the preference pane is locked, unlock it by clicking the padlock icon and entering your administrator password. Delete Wi-Fi from the service list on the left by selecting it and clicking the minus-sign button at the bottom. Then recreate the service by clicking the plus-sign button and following the prompts.
    Step 5
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    Step 6
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.

  • Sony Ericsson W810i and iSync 2.4: "can not connect to this device"

I am using Mac OS 10.4.11 and iSync 2.4, which I believe are the most up to date versions. My Sony Ericsson W810i is shown as being compatible with iSync as shown on the iSync support page, but while I try to add the phone to it I get the message:
    "W810i
iSync can not connect to this device".
Does anybody have any ideas how to sort this problem? I've tried restarting both my computer and phone before trying again.

I finally figured out how to fix this problem. The mobile phone had to be initially added by the computer under Bluetooth to pair them before adding the device to iSync. Adding the computer as a device to the phone to pair them, as I had been doing, didn't allow it to work with iSync.

  • Any wifi connection problems with new Macbook Pro 13" models?

I currently use a 15" Macbook Pro (about 3.5 years old) that has intermittent WiFi connection issues (intermittently loses signal). This seems to have been a very common problem with this laptop model. My kids, who use Macbooks, have no connection problems. In any case, I'd love to buy one of the new model 13-inch Macbook Pro's but hesitate because of my many issues with WiFi connectivity on my older Macbook Pro. Just wondering if anyone is experiencing connectivity problems with the new model?

I've never had Wifi connection problems with a Macbook and now with the 13" MacBook Pro I was flabergasted when I took my MacBook down the street to a coffee house with free WiFi. I went to connect to their WiFi and found my own WiFi connection listed. I thought this odd even though I was on the same block as my apartment, my apartment is six stories up. I connected to the Coffee Shop WiFi but it was really slow so I wondered if I could connect to my own home connection. I switched it over and lo-and behold I did connect! It was a good 300 feet away! I NEVER saw this with previously owned MacBooks including the black MacBook and the MacBook offered just before they moved the MacBook up to the Pro series.
So I'd say they have improved the WiFi nicely.

  • Unusual error syncing Sony Ericsson W810i :0

    Hi all,
I am trying to sync my mac (Powerbook G4) with a Sony Ericsson w810i. My iSync version is up to date. In the iSync menu where you can select to sync contacts and calendar, I am not able to select iCal. Whenever I select to sync iCal events, i immediatedly get a popup saying "You should select an application that can be syncronized using Mac OS X. Would you like to open iCal now ??" whether I open or not the iCal sync option is automatically unselected - and hence i do not get the events to my phone.
    Any responses will be appreciated.

  • Sony Ericsson W810i/300i

I read some of the threads from last year about the Sony Ericsson W810i. I'd like to wait for the iPhone, but I need a new phone now. Are people having good luck syncing this phone? Also, unrelated to syncing, is the call quality & reception as good as the reviews I've been reading say it is? Any input of any kind about this phone would be greatly appreciated. I was also considering the Sony Ericsson 300i, but reviews say the camera is terrible. I don't really care about a camera because I have a very nice Canon digital, but if the phone must have a camera, I want it to take usable photos.

I've just this week got a W810i (since the iPhone won't be here until at least Q4). The Syncing with iSync works just fine and I'm very happy with the device as a phone. I've just taken a photo as I sit here as an example (having transferred it via BT) - not great; I shall be carrying my 7.2Mpx Casio when I need to take photos!
I can't get the send SMS via AddressBook feature to work yet though (it does on my older Ericsson T68 so I'm not sure what's wrong). I got mine for free on a £18pm for 12mth contract with 512Mb MSDuo included.
The bundled headphones are excellent and it plays .aac files (not the DRM ones); the FM radio works really well; it's small, light and feels a lot more robust than the T-Mobile MDAC it is replacing. I dislike the font used in the interface, but the images are very iLife-esque. Most of the custom 'Themes' on the web are unusable (this is probably because I'm used to beautiful cared-for UIs in OS X). You can transfer any files to the MSDuo card or the phone memory using Apple's BT File Exchange. If you connect it with the bundled USB cable it'll charge the phone and mount both the phone memory and the MSDuo card direct to the desktop.

  • Does 'Network Connect' work with MacBook Pro?

My safari unexpectedly quits when attempting to log into my company's VPN.
    - I log into our VPN website and the connection begins to initialize
    - with my MacBook, Safari (2.0.3) unexpectedly quits
    - with my PowerBook, 'Network Connect' automatically starts and the VPN connection completes without any problem
Does 'Network Connect' work with MacBook Pro? Any ideas?

Resolved. MacBook Pro was having trouble dowloading the 'Network Connect' application when I logged into my VPN client for the first time. I copied it from my PowerBook G4 over to the appropriate folder and it now works perfectly.

  • Sony Ericsson W810i

    Hi
Are there any plans to include the new Sony Ericsson, the W810i, in the isync phones list?
I've just bought one and am very happy with it. It comes with a USB cable which when plugged in, charges the phone, pops up iphoto and let's you import photos directly, like any other camera and let's you drag mp3s on to it like any non apple mp3 player. You can drag mp3s directly from itunes but it limits the number of songs you can copy across in one go to about 20. This is easy to get around by either dragging from the folders directly or by dragging your songs from itunes to a temp folder and then into the phone memory card (512mb card, upgradeable and 22 mb on board), you may want to do this if copying the party shuffle or a playlist.
Anyway, back to isync, if it's going to be included soon that would be great, rounding off a great inter manufacturer combo...

    G5 iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Sony Ericsson W810i

The Mac OS X 10.4.7 Update will ship soon, bringing incremental improvements to iSync, and will likely include support for additional mobile handsets, including—possibly—the SONY Ericsson W810i. That's about as much as I can say about unreleased, unannounced software.
If you are interested in an immediate solution, or future updates don't include support for your mobile handset, you can take a look at this low cost alternative from Nova Media:

  • IPOD CONNECTIVITY PROBLEM WITH WINDOWS XP VIA USB 2.0

    Enough is enough.
I have an ipod touch and I am having difficulty connecting it to my pc via usb 2.0.
I have searched the entire web and came across many cases similar or the same as mine. It's time for apple to face the fact that there is something wrong with either the apple mobile service or the apple usb drivers or the itunes software that causes connectivity problems with win xp.
For the record my case is this:
I got my itouch 3 days ago. I installed itunes 8.0. Then I plugged in my ipod to a usb extension cable port connected to a usb at the back of my desktop computer. At first I got the "this usb device can perform faster if you plug it to a usb 2.0 port etc." message. So I did. I removed the extension cable and connected it directly to one of the usb ports at the back. The first time it synchronized, it seemed fine. So I decided before I do anything with it, to update it to the 2.1 version. I made my account and bought (very bad policy there apple, it should be free or at least cheeper than 8 euro) the 2.1 update. I clicked to update the i-touch. While it was updating it crashed during the restore process (because it was disconnected but I didn't know that at the time). I unplugged it, resetted and plugged it back and managed to continue the restoring process until it was updated. After figuring out itunes I chose the "manage files manually option", kept everything unchecked in the sync options except the applications. I noticed there were random disconnections here and there but I didn't pay much attention because they weren't very frequent.
The next day I plug in the touch again and suddenly I hear that annoying "connecting-disconnecting" sound from windows while my touch kept disappearing and reappearing in itunes. Suddenly my playlists disappeared from the touch. Nothing was in the touch any more. How could that happen since i had chosen to manage my files manually instead of synchronizing? So I unplugged the touch again, restarted the touch, restarted the pc, stopped and restarted the apple mobile service, unistalled and reinstalled itunes, searched microsoft support and read many usb troubleshooting documents in the web. Nothing happened. The touch randomly keeps disconnecting from the usb. I eventually managed to put my stuff back in and keep them there.
    Here's what I know:
    1) There is nothing wrong with my usb ports. I don't use usb hubs, they are usb 2.0, the voltage (500mA) is correct in the device manager. Everything else works fine there.
    2) The ipod touch does not support disk mode so you can't see it under "my computer" and this is not a problem.
3)There is nothing wrong with the ipod, it works perfectly.
    4) This is not a usb cable physical problem.
    5) The five R's are irrelevant with this situation.
Uninstalling and reinstalling itunes doesn't solve the problem, neither does hard resetting the ipod.
    6) Older PC configurations seem to be more affected by this but it doesn't have to do with unsupported specific chipsets.
    Here's what needs investigating:
    1) There may be a problem with the apple mobile service running on win XP.
    2) There may be a problem with the apple usb driver and win XP or older motherboards.
    3) There may be a 2.1 firmware issue with usb 2.0 connectivity.
Workaround so you don't go nuts:
Use USB 1.1 instead of 2.0. It is A LOT slower but it keeps the connection stable and you can work with the ipod. Just start copying and go do something else for the next hour. So far it works for me.
This is a serious issue that needs immediate attention. I've stumbled across forum discussions dating to 2005 with this problem (with older ipods of course).

I think this needs to be put down to the eternal PC/Mac argument. Apple dont want to fix this as they want everyone to buy a Mac. Its a business, understandable, but in turning away PC buyers they alienate a huge percentage of the market.
Now, I had my first iTouch stolen. It synced, for the most part, very well, just occasionally it removed settings and music, but ticking boxes each time I sync'd sorted that, Its a workflow procedure.
SO, now that my Touch has been replaced, iTunes cannot see it. The PC can identify it on USB1 or USB2, My work lap top can see it and has indeed upgraded it to V2 software, just in case that was the issue, but no. For some really weird reason Itunes on my desktop cannot see the new pod.
This does not make sense with the argument that Apple software doesnt work on a PC, but doesnt help that none of the Apple support staff, phone or in-store have a clue about Windows operations.
Because my Touch has now been trying to connect to 6 separate installs of itunes, multiple USB ports, multiple USB cables, a complete overhaul of the registry settings (everything else still works), and the loss of all my previous settings and backups from the last Touch... but still, the PC says its an ipod but cant install it, iTunes sits there, dumb.
The only thing I can do now is sell the device as brand new as it has never had music on it and is just a week old...
It has changed the MiniMac I was going to have for my new flat screen TV into a PC and suggests that anyone with a PC should stick to devices that run on PC, of which there are many, just without the user interface of the dear departed IPod Touch.
    Thanks

  • Connectivity problems with Windows 7

I have connectivity problems with a Windows 7 machine. It's just lose the wireless connection from time to time, usualy "forgeting" Default Gateway. Any ideas? Please not the same machine did work very well on previus router: the problems did start after I installed Time Capsule as the main gateway. Thanks a lot.

Make sure you setup the TC with SMB compliant names.. short .. no spaces.. pure alphanumeric.
Use fixed channels.. not auto. Set a different name for 5ghz so it doesn't get mixed up between bands.
Check you have the latest drivers for the particular wireless card in the PC.. eg if a laptop don't download drivers from the laptop manufacturer.. get the ones from the wireless card.
