Sony HD Footage Needs Additional Components
Hi Gang
I'm working with FC6
I have QT Version 7.6.4 (518.35)
Certain HD Footage shot on a Sony HD camcorder at 23.97 Frame Rate won't open in QT, just get a black screen. And in Final Cut, only get sound no Video.
QT prompts me that certain additional components are needed but there is a list of places/sites. Not sure which one to go to?

Not on my late 2011 15" MBP. When I use just Cammond+r it takes me to the built in recovery HD.
Even with no HDD in the system Command+r gives me nothing, no options at all and certainly not the Internet Recovery system.
Command+Option+r gives me the Internet Recovery system with or without a HDD in the system and with or without a Recovery HD partition on the internal drive.
So it would seem it is different for different models and whether or not there is or isn't a recovery partition on the internal drive.
So for anyone reading this thread try both Command+r and Command+Option+r to boot the computer from the Apple Online Lion Internet Recovery system.

At the end of the installation process (Clean install, new 500GB internal hard drive, formatted and partitioned, MacBook 13" Aluminum, late 2008) the progress bar stalls and eventually a drop down error message appears "Can't download the additional components needed to install OS X". I am using a USB 8 GB bootable flash drive. Any ideas?

Hi there, I'm new and a complete novice, please try to have patience I'm hoping to learn but need the right guidance and assistance if possible please :)
Firstly I have read the other articles sharing the same or similar title but most are mentioning using time machine.
I have just fitted a new 1tb SSD to my 13" MacBook Pro after my previous hd was in an unrepairable state. I also purchased a Mac OS X Lion thumb drive with intention of having the latest software on my mac. I obviously don't have any information I want to recover I just merely want to install OS X Lion and begin as if my Macbook was new. But I keep getting the above message. I have gone to disc utilities went through the whole erase process which creates the new partition. Every time I do verify disc is says disc needs repairing so successfully repair it and go back to attempting to install Lion but again it gives me the 'can't download the additional components...' Message. I tried starting up in recovery mode, but from what I have seen on tutorials I should be given the choice of 2 or 3 drives in which to start up on, I only get the option of the OS X Lion thumb drive. Please help me, I really would like to do this myself as a sense of achievement.
My warranty has obviously run out on my mac so this is the reason I changed the HD myself.

With regards to the original install disc it was lost a long time ago, so was told this thumb drive USB stick with OS X Lion mounted (official apple OS X Lion thumb stick) to it would act as an install disc, would I require the initial install disc as it is a fairly old MacBook?

After an hour or two of the installation process, with reamining time registering only 7 minutes, a box appears on screen with the message:
"Can't download additional components needed to installl OS X". I can't get beyond that poiint. I had not trouble installing Lion yesterday, but three attempts to install Mountain Lion hand up at this same point. What can I do about it? (I'm installing to a Mac Mini that I bought in 2012. I have 110 GB free out of 249.67GB. I have VMWare Fusion installed and that allocates 69.55 to Windows.)Try resetting the App Store.

I recently upgraded the RAM in my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Early 2011) to 16gigs. The process went smooth at first. Then the Computer would not boot and stayed on the white Apple screen with the circle spinning. A progress bar would appear and disapear but it would never get past that screen. I tried to fix that but ended up backing up my hard drive and now I am attempting to restore the unit using "command + R" at startup. I have eraseed and reformated the drive using with Disk Utilities OSX extend journaled. Then I attempt to reinstall and the unit is connected to my wifi which is fast and stable and I get, "can't download the additional components needed to install mac os x lion." I have tried this many times
I still have the 16gigs of ram in the macbook pro which I am told this unit supports both by OWC (which is where i bought it) both identical 2x8gig sticks ddr3 1333

Not sure 10.7.3 is still available over the internet download system. I think Apple waws more on the ball this time and switched the Recovery HD system download over to 10.7.4 fairly Quickly.
That may or may not be part of your problem.
It may also be your internet connection is flakey and is dropping the connection with the download server.
If you are doing this over a WiFi connection try connecting the Mac to your router with an Ethernet cable. -
When I publish a quicktime movie using iWeb 09, (movie from iphoto 09 -originally from Canon SD870IS camera) I get a message saying "Additional Components Needed." I can hear sound but no video. Anyone have any ideas on how to rectify this problem?

SAP BO Dashboards 4.1 additional components
Hi, sorry I am new to the dashboard designer. Can anyone point me towards the right direction for some additional components for dashbaord designer please? I am idially after some components that works on mobile platforms (ipad and andriod SAP mobile app). I am mostly after the free once right now (to demonstrate the business what can be achived). Also can someone explain the installation process of those components - Whether i only need to have it installed on the machine I am using the designer or does that component needs to be installed on server as well so the customers can lunch the dashboard via launch pad. Hello! Tried unsuccessfully to restore my MBP, running the Mac OSX Lion, to factory settings. I keep getting the "can't download additional components for the Mac OSX Lion" error when reinstalling the OSX Lion. Any tips on how to resolve this problem?

Given that your answer to 1. is 'pre-installed' and 3. is 'No', I think the only thing to do is to take it to an Apple store (ideally the one you bought it from) and have them reinstall it for you.
The intended solution in cases like yours is that you should be able to reboot and install even a wiped disk by using Apple's servers over the internet (you do this by restarting with 'command-r' and choosing 'reinstall Lion'). However if this isn't working for you then you need to get the store to do it. Don't let them fob you off with 'go home and try again'. Have them do it in the shop (you're still covered by Applecare warranty so it should cost you nothing save the inconvenience of the trip and possibly leaving the machine there while they fix it).
A reinstall should leave all your own personal data and programs in place.
Note for future: when you get it fixed, first thing to do is buy a cheap external drive and start keeping a backup (either Time Machine or clone with Carbon Copy Cloner).

My MacBook Pro recently began acting weird. The Application window kept closing on its own. I couldn't launch several applications. I could no longer access my e-mail from my mac and everything is taking much longer than normal to load. I ran MacKeeper, but it found nothing unusual. I then went to the Disk Utility and tried the repair option. It also found nothing unusual. After that, I erased a partition and attempted to reinstall Mac OS X. Each time I tried, it began downloading but eventually said that it was unable to download additional components needed to reinstall OS X. Any idea why?
Any support and/or suggestions as to how I can fix this would be GREATLY appreciated!

After posting I see this question has the tag of "windows". I don't know if this applies to the Windows version or not.
The only time I see this message is if I download something, trash it, AND empty the trash. If I don't empty the trash, it finds it there. It will find it wherever I move it to, unless it is was in the trash and emptied.
Using Finder, is the downloaded file in your Downloads folder?
Maybe if you go to Safari/Preferences/General and change the location for downloads to something else then change it back to Downloads it might correct it. -

OK Here the story…
I have a new Sony NX5U camcorder, I first shot in in HD 1080/60i, then I used Sony Content Manager to bring footage in, opened Premier 5.5, the footage looked jaggy.
On the next shoot, I changed to SD 480/60i, as the final edit was to be shown from a DVD, used Sony Content Manager to bring footage in, opened Premier 5.5, the footage looked jaggy.
I dragged the clip to the new item (New BIN)... to set the presets the same as the footage.... the footage still looks jaggy
I even played back the footage on the camera, captured through the HDMI port on my Black Magic MultiBridge Pro, with the same results...
I exported (re-encoded) the footage as a H-264, also as a MS AVI...brought the footage back into Premier.... looked the same..
I set the sequence presets the same as I shoot… but to no avail…. My Sony PD150 footage looks better.
The footage jerks... not smooth... forget trying to pan...
Notice the telephone wires...not smooth... I call the effect "The Jaggies" (I believe the same as aliasing)... What am I doing wrong? See picture below (the video looks much worse than the picture shows)
the telephone lines look like stair steps... (but on the Sony flip out monitor... it looks great... also much smaller monitor, though)Try This:
copy footage from SD card to your HDD then use a Blackmagic preset AVCHD for a new sequence (don't use Standard def footage from these cameras). If you have a BM card you should have a TV connected if so what does that picture look like. When you putput via Encore burn a DVD not a Blu-Ray and that will downscale for you.

Sony EX1 footage renders jumpy
Hi,
This is frustrating me to know end.
I just imported a PPro Mac project into AE Mac with Sony EX1 footage.
When I render, some of the clips jump back and forth (forward and backward) randomly.
It plays fine in PPro and I can RAM Preview a single clip in a separate comp just fine, but a render or RAM Preview jumps.
Any suggestions?I'm creating a work-around for the EX-1 black-dropped-out frames in After Effects (X64 CS3 CineForm):
1. Edit a 'story board' in Premiere with the EX MP4 raw-files
2. Convert only the files I need (from all the 150 shot) in the CineForm-HDlink app to .MOV files
//filesize will become a little more, will shift a couple of frames from the MP4-raw, quality the same
//HDlink is a BAD application, because I have to transcode every MP4 file seperately. MXF files are bugging in HDlink
//HDlink does NOT trancode the audio into the new .MOV file! Sucks.
3. Replace the Premiere 'edit-MP4-raw-files' with the converted .MOV files in After Effects
4. Re-sync all the audio, 'export audio' from the MP4-raw files in Premiere to AE
5. Voila! Render without troubles
