Sony HVR-A1 work with FCEXPRESS 3.5 ?? Sounds like a good deal.

Does the Sony HVR-A1, 1/3-Inch Professional HDV Camcorder work with Final Cut EXPRESS HD 3.5 (Universal)
It's NOT on the Apple list of qualified cameras, at: http://images.apple.com/finalcutexpress/pdf/FinalCutExpress3.0_QualifiedDevices.pdf BUT this is the list for FCE 3.0.
There are other posts about this but they are not clear if they are talking about it working with Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Express.....plus there was still no 'for sure' answer, such as: YES, the HVR-A1 works on FCE.
Note: Until Sept. 30th Sony is offering a $500.00 online/mail-in rebate on this camera, which can be purchased for almost half it's initial retail price, for only $1,741 at http://www.bwayphoto.com/product.asp?id=snhvra1u
I previously purchased an Optura 500 at bwayphoto and the sale went through fine.
This would mean a pretty good 'prosumer' camera for only $1,241.00 (after rebate)!
Any info? Any feedback?

I wonder why Sony is offering such a big rebate?
ahhh Sony is not offering a rebate

will my sony HDR-TD10 work with FCPX

    Probably.
"iMovie supports standard and high definition video, as well as the most popular formats, including DV, HDV, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and even AVCHD."
    microMV is recording in MPEG-2.
Bring your camera to your Apple dealer and try it out.

  • Does the Sony HVR-Z5E work smoothly with Final Cut Pro?

Can FCP handle a Sony HVR-Z5E camera smoothly?
I have a G5 Mac (no intel) with leopard installed.

Depends on the version of FCP, but most likely yes.

    Hello Penny,
    Welcome to the Sony Community.
The Sony Smart Watch doesn't work with iPhone 4S but however it's compatible with most Android™ (2.0 and above) phones via Bluetooth® connection. See www.store.sony.com for details.

  • Will a Sony Digital 8 work with my iBook G4?

    Good Evening,
Given my 10 years of service with my company, I have been given the opportunity to receive a Sony DCRTRV-280 digital 8 camcorder.
Will this work with my iBook G4?
Having read some past posts, it seems like it will work, but not without jumping through a couple of hoops.
Anyone have experience with this unit being used on a mac?
    Thanks,
    Chris
    1.42 GHz PowerPC G4 512MB   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I use a Sony Digital-8 TRV 330E, and it works perfectly with my G3 and G4 PowerBooks, Mac mini, etc.
In the UK, and the rest of Europe, some lower-priced camcorders have a FireWire OUT connection ..so that you can feed your footage into iMovie.. but don't necessarily have a FireWire IN connection ..for feeding your edited footage back to a tape in the camcorder. You may want to check and see if the DCRTRV-280 does have FireWire IN, but it's sure to have FireWire OUT, so that you can take the footage from the camera and edit it.
But there WON'T be a FireWire cable in the box with the camera: you'll have to buy one separately ..you'll need a 4-pin-to-6-pin FireWire (..also called 'DV' or 'i.Link' or IEEE..) cable from a camcorder or electronics shop.

  • Will my sony dcr-ip55 work with imovie 08?

Sorry, I'm not up with all the formats but imovie hd 6.0.3 would not import footage shot with a sony dcr-ip55 which records in the micro mv format. Will iMovie 08 work with this format or do I need some sort of converter?

  • Do Sony camera's work with iMovie?

I'm curious if all types of mini dv cameras work with macs? Do I ahve to have special software for a camera model to have it connect into imovie for importing video? I have a Sony DCR-TRV33.
If you know, I'd be grateful.
    thanks,
    Matthew

    Hi Matthewalb:
    Welcome to the discussions!
Yes, your Sony should work. All you need is a 4 to 6-pin FireWire cable (Sony calls them iLink), the camera and your mac with imovie installed. No extra anything needed (except your imagination..)

  • Does The Sony Smart Headset Work With All Phones

Seeing as the Sony Smart Headset MH1-c is a CTIA based headset, it should work with all other phones right? I just want someone to confirm that it can work with the Samsung Galaxy S3.
    Thanks.

That standard is for the headphone jack but as this is a Bluetooth device that is irrelevant when looking for handset compatibility. Please check the bottom of the page here for a full compatibility list:

  • Sony HDR-CX7 Works with iMac G5???

    Hi,
My understanding is, that from previous posts, that this camera works with an iMac G5 PPC : specifically that pictures can be imported and filed. My question is, what is done with the video files? How do you get them off the camera and where do you store/put them once completed ,since the video apparently is not compatible with the iMac PPCs iMovie 8 version(only intel Macs).
I would like to buy this camera , and want to make sure I am able to some how transfer the video files onto my mac.
    Thanks
    Raff

My understanding is that a machine with a dual intel processor is required to support the decompression required for this and similar programs. I have a CX7 and it is wonderful and worked well with iMovie until the latest update to 7.1.1. Now it will not usually open the import window when you attach it via USB. But if and when Apple fixes that I highly recommend the camera.

  • Apple Firewire to Thunderbolt doesn't work with my Infrasonic Deux sound card

Hello! My soundcard "Infrasonic Deux" doesn't work with Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire adaptor on my macbook pro 15 retina. On the other mac's the same problem! Via Firewire my soundcard work as well! but it doesn't work with Adapter! Help, please!

If you purchased an unlocked iPhone at an Apple store, it should be useable with any SIM.  Its possible they just made a mistake and gave you the wrong model phone or there is something wrong with that phone.  If that is the case, just take the phone and your receipt to an Apple store, explain the situation and they should swap it out for an actual unlocked one.

  • Configuring IIS to work with Tomcat - I can't find a good help document

    Hello All,
I am relatively new with Java and I am just now trying to learn Tomcat and servlet technologies. I can get the servlets working on my personal computer, yet I cannot get it configured for the server. From all the forum posts and web sites I have researched, it is my understanding that there is a configuration process that needs to be done to allow IIS to request the Tomcat servlet. However, maybe I'm just plain dumb, but I can't understand all the how-to's that I have found.
I am assuming I DLed the appropiate .dll file and I placed it in Tomcat's bin folder.
But then I have to create a properties file? I have no clue how to do this.
I am still messing with the instructions, etc., but if anyone has any suggestions, or maybe a link to a dummie-fied How-to page, that would be extrememly helpful.
I am currently running IIS on a win2k server.
    Thanks guys.
(btw, for people who are having trouble setting the environment variable, with win2k, I was trying to do it with DOS, and it did not work. However, using the control panel > system > I was able to do it and the setting "stuck")

No, you don't need Apache to make Tomcat work with ISS.
There's a Wrox book entitled "Professional Apache Tomcat" that has a chapter on how to mate Tomcat with IIS. It gives step-by-step instructions that I've followed successfully a number of times.
There are a few Tomcat books on the market now. I'd be surprised if they didn't address this. Go to Borders and pick one up. - MOD

  • Sony DSC-TX5 Videos with High Speed (Chipmunk) Sound

I just imported some videos shot using Sony DSC-TX5 (1280x720 "Fine" MP4). All imported files have their audio sped up, and consequently everything sounds like a chipmunk. Unfortunately, I deleted the movies within camera before checking the imported files in iMovie. But, new movies shot and played within the camera all seems to have intact audio when played within the camera.
I've also imported HD videos shot using Sony a55 and its audio remain intact.
Is there a fix for this?

I had exactly this problem, importing the video both from within camera, and taking the sd card out and putting it in a reader. I quit Imovie, reopened it. Then I reimported the video. SAME PROBLEM - no change. Then I restarted the computer, opened Imovie, reimported the video - now for the fourth time. AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE!! The audio was perfect.
So what caused this in the first place, and what happened in the reboot that fixed it? Beats me. One moral of the story is no matter how good Mac OS gets, rebooting the computer is always a good thing to try. Another moral of course is, don't delete any files until you know your imports are good and you have them backed up.

  • Winxp sp3 with bootcamp mic's sound like alien!!! in MBP

when i use the microphone for chat its sound like alien slow down
can anyone know how to fix it plzzzzzzzzzzzz
it make me unbelivable in MAC so much worst!!

Hey, I had a thought, I don't know if it'll work and won't get the chance to find out until later tonight if I'm not too tired or until later tomorrow.
I think that if the IDT drivers aren't installed in the first place, perhaps the issue can be averted entirely. However, it's going to take a bit of knowledge to do and some patience. The partition will need to be remade entirely so that one may end up with a fresh operating system. When the SL disk is put into the computer, instead of running the full driver setup, pick the drivers directly off the disk by exploring its folders and only install the ones you need. Instead of using the IDT drivers, I believe the SL disk also has Realtek HD audio drivers (if I remember correctly from the last time I looked). My thought is that this manual method can prevent having to deal with the IDT drivers which I believe are part of the issue.
I understand that reinstalling XP is a process in itself, but this is the only solution I can think of. If manually installing doesnt work, my next move would be to use the drivers that come off the Leopard disk instead of the SL disk.
Like I said, this is just a thought I have so when I get to it later I'll let you know how it goes unless you decide to give it a try before me.
