Sony IC Recorder ICD-U60 won't connect

I just bought a Sony Voice Recorder (ICD-U60) and it was a surprise for me that is incompatible with my iMac. It comes with an installation disk for Windows but the Recorder has a built in USB.
Does anyone knows what are my options?

Here's what I did. It's a bit of a pain to set up, but works fine. I have Windows XP running in a partition with Bootcamp on my Mac. I seldom use it, but it does open and run fine. I record voice notes on my Sony IC recorder, and boot the computer in Windows. I downloaded a free shareware program for Windows called Switchsetup.exe. It converts just about any file format into any file format, so can convert the voice recorder file format into an MP3 or WAV or whatever you want. You just drag and drop the file into a window. I converted my voice notes to MP3, and it automatically puts them into the My Music folder on the Windows side, which I never use for anything else. Then I switched back over to Mac OS, where I can see the My Music folder in the Windows partition. I created a Mac OS alias of that folder, and drag it onto my Mac desktop. That way, I can easily access all the converted voice notes while using Mac OSX, once they have been converted in a batch process on the Windows side.
Once set up, this works pretty easily. If I have a bunch of new notes on the IC recorder, I run Windows, convert the files, then go back to Mac OS. When I click on the My Music alias, I get access to MP3's of my voice recordings. Click on them and they get pulled into iTunes where I have a "playlist" labeled My Voice Notes. Once there, it's easy to listen to them or do other things, include editing them in other software if I want, etc.
We really do need a voice recorder add-on for iPods and iPhones.

  • Sony - IC Recorder (ICD - PX312F)

    Hello,
I recently bought an audio recorder, model: DCI - PX312F to record an important meeting at work. Unfortunately when I looked for the audio file on my computer, i don't find it. I checked the recorder and the file disappeared. Probably it was deleted because I can not find it in any way.
My question is. There any procedure to recover this audio file, if it have been deleted?

If you pressed delete to remove a file on the player, the other files move up to take its place and the file cannot be recovered. If the audio file transfered to computer and got deleted, then the computer can be sent to a professional data recovery service company like Sony® Media Services or DriveSavers™ Data Recovery. • Sony Blu-Ray BDP-S570 won't connect to iMac

    Hello everyone,
I'm trying to connect my new sony blu-ray player to my iMac wirelessly. My iMac is set up as an airport base station, and I have no problems connecting my iPhone to it to use the internet.
Internet sharing is turned on, and i'm using a 40-bit WEP password. Every time I try to connect my blu-ray player, it connects to the network, but cannot connect to the internet. Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas? I'm pretty frustrated.
    Thanks!

Hi there I'm having a similar problem with the s570 - it finds the livebox network ok but I enter the WPA password
The AirPort Extreme can use the following WPA security settings:
    WPA2 Personal
    WPA/WPA2 Personal
Which of these are you trying to use?
Is there something in the instruction sheet or setup page of the Blu-Ray player that specifies exactly what type of security settings are compatible with the device?

  • IC Recorder ICD-P17 - driver issue

Hi, I've got a Sony IC Recorder ICD-P17. I am running Windows 7 Enterprise Edition. I plug in the Recorder via USB to my computer and the screen says PC LI and then what looks like a WR. My device manager shows the Recorder but says I do not have the proper drivers. I've installed the digital voice editor 3 and it still doesn't work. Do you have any suggestions?

It looks like you are undergoing the same predicament as myself. Your new computer running at 64 bit cannot run an application developed for a 32 bit computer.
    Check this page http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-do ... mdl=ICDP17
What I did was to get an older computer (32 bit) and this way, I was able to get my Voice Recorder running and connecting with the Voice Editor.

  • Sony Handycam HD won't connect

My new Sony DCR-SR42 won't connect to my
    iMac 5.1 with Intel 2GB 667mhz, 2GB RAM; OSX 10.49
Reading on the Sony site it says I "might" be able to connect via
    iLife 08. (I have iLife 06)
    The iLife 08 requires 733mhz.
Has anyone had success using the new handycam HD's with their Mac? I'd be hapy to just connect and download files as mpg...
Help Please! I'd do summersalts over any ideas!

If you have an Intel iMac, iLife 08 will work. I think the 667mhz you are referring to is the memory speed, not the processor speed. The memory speed is not relevant for whether your camera will work.
Your camera MIGHT work with iMovie 08. It is not on the supported list, but several Sony standard def hard drive cameras are supported.
Even if you can't make it work directly to iMovie 08, you can try attaching your camera to the Mac via the USB cable. If your Mac sees the camera as an external hard drive in the finder, then you have some more options.
You can move the MPEG2 files onto a folder on your Mac. From here, you need to convert them into a format supported by either iMovie 08 (h.264, dv, or aic) or to a format supported by iMovie 06 (which you have already) which is dv.
To convert them, you can use MPEG Streamclip (free), but you will also need to install the Quicktime MPEG2 Playback component ($20). Let MPEG Streamclip convert the files from MPEG2 to dv, and you should be able to edit them on your iMovie 6.

Hi, To my dissapointment my Z3 won't connect to my Sony car stereo via USB at all, it seems it is uncompatable whereas my iPod does no problem.. Any help with this?

Most cars have an AUX connection which connects to the headphone jack and to AUX is also a headphone jack so a double ended 3.5mm audio jack which is for phones where as the USB connection is designed for dedicated mp3 style devices like your ipod

  • Sony bdp s390 won't connect to network

I upgraded to ATT Uverse this week from dsl. Now i've lost my connection. I triple checked all the settings, all are correct, but can't connect. Sony says it's a network issue, it's not if i can connect with my pcs & cell phones. ATT says it's Sony's issue. Why will it connect with dsl but not uverse? Sony says it's compatable. None wants to assist, they blame each other.

No i have nvg 510 by motorola, i had a 2 wire previously. Went from dsl to uverse both by ATT, ATT did the install. Today my LG smart tv wasn't connected, i put in the ssid & connected. I have internet connection with Directv, again no issues at all. Same #'s for the player, did not change any settings anywhere on tv, modedm, pc, nowhere. Since the install all devices connected with no problem, just put in the ssid #. Again ATT blames sony, sony blames ATT. Chatted with both at same time today, both ask same questions, i gave both the answers from each other. This was both level 2 with both. I'm back to square one. I think i'll try another player, maybe with uverse it messed up a setting, but i did do a reset, twice, once each day. The more i think about it i think it's the player because everything else connects. How about you? Thanks for the advice. Tom

I used to be able to download files from the Harddrive of my Sony Handycam, but now it won't let me import them while going through "log and transfer."  I have tried to update my settings, but this doesn't seem to work.  Any help would be much appreciated

Hard Drive:  The Hard Drive is on my camera (Sony Handycam)
Just needed some info on what is going on with your particular system.
Knowing the exact camera model will also assist us.
If this camera is standard AVCHD you should be able to connect with USB to Mac with FCE open and use Log and Transfer without all the fiddling around converting etc.
What FCE does during ingest is convert files to AIC. (Apple Intermediate Codec)
FCE cannot read the individual files in the BDMV folder, that's why all the converting is required when you use that method.
BTW: regards formatting drives/cards/memory on cameras; it is wise to use the actual device to format rather than a computer. This is a prime cause of read/write goof ups with solid state media. This applies to still or video cameras.
Keeping the COMPLETE card/memory structure in tact is vital for successful transfers.

  • Old Power Mac G3 won't connect to monitor

Before I consign it to the recycling depot I need to retrieve some files from my old G3, which I've rarely turned on for years. Problem is, it won't connect to the Sony monitor - no signal. The G3  makes all the right noises, as does the monitor, but then I just get the 'no signal' message on the monitor. Checked the input setting and the connections and can't find a problem. Worked perfectly last time I started it up about a year ago.
Any suggestions as to what the problem might be or an alternative method of seeing/accessing files on the G3 gratefully received!

    Hi Ulessa,
    Is this a Beige G3:
      or
    or a "Blue & White" G3:
Although released very close to each other in time, they are quite different and need different troubleshooting. Example: The Beige G3 may give no video at startup if the internal backup battery (or "PRAM" battery) is dead; the B&W is not as dramatic when faced with a dead battery.

  • PB with Orinoco card won't connect using OS 9

Could someone help me get the following configuration to work.
G3 Wallstreet with Lucent Orinoco silver card running OS 9.2.2 won't connect to internet via an Extreme BS running under OS 10.4/DSL.
Using airport extension 2.0.4 and the airport card sees the BS (strong signal indicated), but cannot connect. When press the connect button, it starts to dial an old modem phone number and fails.
BTW, the BS works perfectly with newer Powerbooks running OS 10.4.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Mini 1.5 GHz/SD/GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Hello Robert,
Does your desktop show your Orinoco card as being
mounted? Mine has an icon sitting on the desktop
    (Wavelan IEEE).
Yes, on desktop, with the name "Airport PC Card".
When I double click on it, it brings
    up the TCP/IP control panel.
Double clicking icon brings up an options box (?) with CONNECT and TURN AIRPORT OFF buttons. Also shows signal level (mine is high) Airport and BS id numbers. This options box shows AIRPORT in the menu bar at the top. I believe this is what you describe as TCP/IP control panel. However, if I select the TCP/IP control panel I get a box with TCP/IP in the menu bar and it shows setup parameters which seem correct.
Airport in the Apple menu gives me a dialog box
with a CONNECT button. It shows my AEBS name to the
    left of the button.
Under Status, mine shows my network name and
"Status not available". I don't get too wrapped
around this as it is currently working.
Mine shows AEBS name and directly below "Not connected to the Internet".
Below that is signal strength bar with strong signal indicated.
Do you have a triangle with "Show settings" beside
it. If you click on the triangle, what does it show.
Mine shows "Airport On" with a button to turn Airport
Off. Under Airport Network, there is a
pulldown next to "Choose network" which shows
"Computer to Computer" and my network name. I have my
    network name selected.
Yes, have triangle. When triangle pointing down see:
Airport On and a button to turn Airport Off.
Under Airport Network, in Choose Network is the name of my AEBS. Another choice, not selected, is Create computer to computer network. Third choice is
complicated number sequence that seems to also be a.k.a. name for the BS.
The AppleTalk control panel also shows connect via
"Airport PC Card" and Current Zone shows "no zones
available", but I think it should show
    "wireless".
Mine shows "Wavelan IEEE" and "no zones available".
Wonder why mine has different name (Airport PC Card). Tried, but cannot rename the airport card icon on desktop.
I hope that some of this is helpful to you and that
we can get you up and running in a minimum of time.
    New info:
On my HD I have a folder titled WaveLAN Install Disk. It contains a number of files which I assume I downloaded off a CD or the internet many months ago when I had an ethernet connection. Some files are installers which I probably already used (no record of the my early install steps). There are a couple of WaveLAN extensions in my extensions folder (WaveLAN CARD and WAVELAN DLPI. There is also 3 Airport extensions (Airport AP, Airport AP support and Airport PC Card). Do you see the same?
    Thanks
    Robert

  • Won't connect to internet at local library

I can connect to the internet via wireless anywhere, home, school, at a friends house but I can't connect to the WiFi at my local library. I used to be able to but now it just won't get internet, it just assigns itself an IP address and leaves it at that. I know it's not an issue with Mac because when this happened for the second time there was a man next to me online on his MacBook. I've used the internet there on a 2005 iBook G4 which was also running Leopard. I've also been there with a Sony running Linux and Windows without issue. I've also reinstalled OS X Leopard but it still won't connect to the internet, just the local network.

Turn off the router. Wait couple of minutes. Turn it back on.
Wait until all the lights are lit up.
    Now relaunch Safari.
    Best.

  • Airport Extreme won't connect with my cable modem (Time Warner)

OK, I'm tired of staring at a blinking amber light. I'm reaching out to anyone out there who's had this problem. I've got everything connected right, the software loaded, the connections set on my laptop (Macbok Pro). But still my Airport Extreme won't connect to the Internet. I've tried different cables, rebooting both my modem and my Airport. For the record, I've had a Mac IT guy from my advertising agency come by my house and make sure that everything's installed and hooked up right. But it still keeps saying that my IP address is invalid, even though I can connect (wired) using the modem.
I suspect I'll just have to take it to the Genius Bar or something. But anybody got any ideas? I really want to join the 'n' generation....

atotheb, Welcome to the discussion area!
Did you power off the cable modem when switching the Ethernet connection from laptop to AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS)? This is usually required.

  • Iphone 4s won't connect to ANY wifi networks

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Verify that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.

  • Safari and Entourage suddenly won't connect, or stay connected (dial-up)

Help! (Please note that this is a question about a MacBook; ignore "Powerbook G4" signature).
The Safari and Entourage applications on my new MacBook, which is on an Apple USB external dial-up modem (NOT wireless or Ethernet), have suddenly stopped connecting. Manifestations:
    (1) Safari: When Safari is opened, it connects normally via dial-up to the start page (Google), but then either won't connect to the next website or goes to a new website, then disconnects after a minute or two. The error message then appears: "You are not connected to the Internet. Safari can't open the page [website address] because your computer isn't connected."
    (2) Entourage: After this problem recurred several times, I decided to test Entourage, which had been working fine. I connected manually to the Internet, and with the connection holding, I tried to send a test message to myself. I then got the error message, "Your Mac OS Network Preferences are not configured to allow automatic connections" (they were, and anyway, the computer was already connected). The computer then disconnected and I got the message "The computer has disconnected because the other side is not responding."
I've tried the following, without success: (1) Restarting. (2) Resetting Safari. (3) When neither helped, I double-checked my network configurations, as well as my account settings in Entourage, and they all seemed okay. However, each time I typed the correct password into the network configurations box, it added about 8 additional dots as soon as I checked "Apply." (I've been told that this is a security feature, but it hasn't happened in the past.)
I then checked the settings using the Apple Network Diagnostics program that Safari offers. ND verified that the modem, modem settings, and ISP settings were okay, but that "Network Settings failed," "Internet failed," and "Server failed." Since the network settings looked right, I don't know what, if anything, this means, or whether the problem comes from something else.
Thanks for any suggestions anyone has.

Mandita 3 and Virtual Canary: Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. If you're still tuning in, in my case the problem of random disconnects on the USB external modem seems to have been resolved by simply switching USB ports on the MacBook.
I talked yesterday to an AppleCare "product specialist"--ie, a level 2 techie--whom I had requested to take me through an Archive and Install of OS 10.4.6 to downgrade from the 10.4.7 upgrade I had done, which I thought was causing the problem because the kernel panics (recorded in my computer's log) began happening right after that.
He suggested that we first try the simple expedient of switching to the other port--he said that he had had this problem several times on his own computer with other USB devices, and that had done the trick; if it didn't work, we could still do the Archive and Install, but he said that "Some USB devices just turn out to be incompatible with one or the other port; it's just quirky."
I've been testing the machine for a couple of hours and the switch seems to have taken care of the problem (to double-check, I went back to the first port once and the random disconnects after 2-5 minutes began happening again).
I've only been testing the machine for a short time, so I can't say for sure that this works. Also, even if it does work, I'm going to call my authorized repair place and ask if the "defective" port can be repaired or replaced--it was working fine for the first 6 weeks that I had the machine, so presumably the one that still works fine could develop an allergy to the external modem, too.
Hope this information is of use to you.
