Sony iPod Car Interface - Shuffle Issue

Recently bought a Sony CDX-GT300 car stereo & Sony iPod adaptor XA-110IP. Have a 30gb gen-5 iPod. Overall love the sound quality (hardwired 'base' connection versus iTrip's RF method). Problem is every time I turn the car on, the iPod starts with the same song instead of keeping the "all shuffle" settings I used on the Sony car player. This is super irritating having to hear this same song everytime and having to reset the thing to "all shuffle". If anyone out there has this problem, please help! Sony (Cruthfield) and BestBuy (where I bought from) were totally unhelpful. I can't believe I'm the only having this issue.

I have the same issue with the same iPOD and I "chatted" with Sony about this issue. The guy, Nolan, was not helpful. He wasn't familiar with the adapter at all. I am thinking of trying to chat with another person at Sony to see if that helps but I am not hopeful.
You may be doing this already, but what I have done so I don't keep hearing that annoying song everytime I turn on my car - I begin playing a song on my iPOD before I plug it into the adapter and then the car stereo will continue to play it. It isn't the most convenient but until I hear a fix from Sony that is what I am doing.
I also use the iPOD to find artists or albums that are buried deep down the list (the middle of the alphabet) then plug it back in. It is quicker than holding down the button on the stereo. Again, not convenient but it works.
I agree with you, the sound is great and it is unfortunate that Sony's iPOD adapter is not up to par with the rest of their equipment.

  • Alpine ipod car interface not wokring with the iPhone.

I noticed that my Alpine ipod car interface, which connects to the iPod with a universal connector does not work with my iPhone, not even in Airline mode, which is too bad because it would keep it charged while driving.
    Macpro, Powerbook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    This is not the case
EDIT: Kind of frustrated, I typed an entire response, but this is all that was submitted.
I plugged my iPhone in while listening to music and my Alpine deck picked it up and I was able to control it. Also, I received a call and my music paused allowing me to answer the phone. It was all rather invigorating because I didn't think it would work so well.
Anyways, try playing music before plugging into the deck. It is possible that the iPhone does not always have the iPod "software" running and therefor the deck was not able to see an "iPod" plugged in.

  • Ipod car interface speeds up playback

I just bought a new Prius with an iPod interface.  It sees my Nano (maybe 4th gen -- the next to last tall thin one), but the playback is speeded up and sounds like a chipmunk.  It makes my audiobooks impossible to understand.  Is this a known issue with other interfaces?  Anybody have any idea what is going on?  The Prius manual is less than helpful.

Same thing happened with my iPhone and my Dension Ice>Link Plus. What I had to do is plug in my 1st gen nano and reset the the Ice>Link to use the "iPod UI". This can be found in the Ice>Link settings area. Read your instructions to figure out how to get access.
On another note, I am now afraid to use my iPhone with the Dension Ice>Link Plus after reading this post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1232834&tstart=60 Anyone else have thoughts on this? I have been using it for about 2 months with no problems, but now I worry that I may be damaging the battery or something.... Hmmm??? I hope Dension responds soon.

  • Problem with iPod Touch and Nissan Car Interface

I have an '09 Nissan Murano with the built in iPod interface. Previous to upgrading to the 3.0 update, the iPod touch and car got along great and everything worked well with the car being able to control the ipod and play music with only the dock connection (not needing to use the headphone jack). However, since the 3.0 update, the car will no longer see the iPod. The iPod shows the Connected to Accessory screen (as it did in the past) however every few seconds, the iPod will flash a quick screen of the iPods normal music screen, then go back to the Connected to Accessory screen. The car just says iPod Not Connected.
Like I said, it worked perfect before I upgraded to 3.0, and to further that, my brother has his touch still on 2.0 software, and it works fine, leading me to be sure that its a problem with the 3.0 update and not the car. I've seen posts like this with other vehicles, but no one seems to have an answer. Wondering who else is having problems like this and if there is ANY solution (besides rolling back my software).
The fact that an update disables iPod branded interfaces seems ridiculous to me. Thanks for any help!

I recently purchased an infiniti FX35 with the ipod integration. After visiting the local apple store "Genius Bar" and speaking on the phone with an "apple expert"; neither the genius bar or the apple expert heard of such an integration option in new cars being sold. They wanted more information from me about how it work rather than them assisting me with my problem.
Anyway, after alot of experimenting I got my ipod touch 2G running firmware 3.1 to work somewhat consistently.
Turn off wi-fi on the touch, power off then back on, go the ipod menu and select playlist. Attach the touch to the infiniti supplied cable through the dock connector. Select the ipod option from dash board. Playlist, songs, artists, etc will appear on the dash display and begin playing.

  • My Sony Xplod car stereo no longer operates my iphone.

I bought a Sony Xplod car stereo about a year ago. It's advertised to dock with the Iphone and for a year has done exactly that. Since the last iphone update though it no longer works correctly. I'm certain it's the iphone software not the stereo as that works fine. I've updated the phone, tried switching it off and back on, restored it, everything. Any suggestions?

In another thread on this issue, Brendan writes:
Turns out restarting my car and/or rebooting my iphone "fixed" the issue. Apparently this was unrelated to the iOS 7.2 upgrade. Honda + iPhone has been rock solid (even if the Honda Fit UI is terrible), so I'm not sure what to make of this problem. Maybe a glitch? Who knows.
Here is the URL for that thread: https://discussions.apple.com/message/25211736?ac_cid=tw123456#25211736
His suggestion worked for me: turn off your car, completely shut-off your phone and let it sit a few minutes. Then reboot phone and start car and try again.
    Good luck!

  • After 4.3.3 upgrade ipod does not shuffle songs

After 4.3.3 upgrade ipod does not shuffle songs. The stop shuffling after any interruption occurs. So If play in the card, get a call, answer it then go back to the music, I have to manually select shuffle. This did not occur prior to the IOS update.

WEP and Apple products are only somewhat compatible - as you are finding out. If you create your own passwords, then you have to follow specific rules - 48 bit, 5 characters, 128 bit, 14 characters. Shorter or longer, the password won't work.
If you are stuck with WEP (I'd update the laptops with a USB wireless stick before I used WEP, but that's your decision) try the following:
    1. Use the 128 bit setting
    2. Either create a 14 character password or use WEP key 1 (that's the hex key) in place of your password on the touch.
You could set up a second wireless access point and, as long as it used a different SSID, setup to run WPA2-AES encryption. That would take care of your modern devices.

  • Charging iPhone with iPod car charger/FM Transmitter - Damage battery?

I used a new ipod car charger/FM transmitter to charge my old original model iphone and got a message popping up that the device isn't made to charge the iphone but it would charge so I left it in. Ever since then, my battery seems to be dying much, much faster than normal. Could I have damaged the battery?

Possible that the circuitry or output levels of the charger was not an exact match to the desired voltage or resistance of the 30 PIN connector and thus caused an issue with the battery...but it's not very likely that this alone caused your battery to all of a sudden not hold a charge...

  • 80gb Video iPod Stuck in Shuffle...

I have an issue where my iPod seems to be stuck in shuffle mode no matter what I do. I have set Shuffle to Off in the settings and whenever I go into an album or artist it still shuffles everything and if the album is less than a certain amount of songs it just goes back to album selection screen after scanning through.
Anyone else have any issues like this?
    Thanks.

Haven't tried to reset yet..as my main pc is at home and I am not...
But here is what I think is happening..if anyone knows this for a fact please let me know:
My iPod has the same settings for a playlist as in iTunes..so if in iTunes the playlist is set to shuffle...no matter what you set on the iPod it will shuffle that playlist.
Least that is what I can think of for my situation right now..as I have one playlist that is behaving properly...but others still shuffle...and just by selecting an album in Music causes shuffle too...so maybe they are related in some aspect with iTunes settings.

  • My IPod no longer shuffles songs within playlists that are clearly set to shuffle.  It is about 3/4 full so I thought of maybe compressing the files to get more space.  Do you think that is the problem and if that might help?

My IPod no longer shuffles songs within playlists that are clearly set to shuffle.  It is about 3/4 full so I thought of maybe compressing the files to get more space.  Do you think that is the problem and if that might help?

Storage space on the iPod would not affect shuffled playlists or playlist shuffling, though substantially full iPods may wind up skipping songs on larger playlists after a while, and require a restart.  As for compressing the files themselves, you can automatically re-encode files to a lower bitrate by checking the box on the summary page when your iPod is connected to your PC/Mac.
As for the shuffle problem, after restarting your iPod (hold the center button and Menu for a few seconds, until the Apple logo appears), make sure you're telling the iPod to shuffle the songs in a playlist by repeatedly clicking the center button until the Suffle Menu comes up, then scroll to the right to turn it on.  From that song forward, the playlists' contents should be shuffled every time the playlist ends, or is accessed from a new song.
Shuffle does sometimes turn itself off, I've found, so double-check the setting is still on.  Also, iPods shuffle by randomly assigning a playlist order for your songs, which is different from traditional shuffle (on, say, iTunes or Windows Media Player, where the new song is determined at random upon the current track ending.  The iPod only chooses a random order of songs when you shuffle, to conserve battery life and queue up songs coming up on the playlist in the event of a shock).

  • IPod touch 8GB screen issue

I posted this in another forum, but I didn't get any replies. So I'll post it here.
Hi guys. I've been trying to fix this problem ever since it occurred (a few weeks after I received my iPod... I've had it for around a year and a half now), but something like this has never happened before.
I just updated my 8GB iPod touch to iOS 4 a few days back (I also updated to iTunes 10). Now, when I'm on my 'Songs' list, and I try to scroll down using the right side's little list thing (A to #), the screen doesn't respond. I'm also having issues with the keyboard--the letter 'P' to the far right of the keyboard won't respond when I casually touch it--I need to put more pressure on it then the other letters. As for the right hand side song list, it only responds to me sometimes, if I'm pressing down really hard. This never happened to me before iOS 4, and it's becoming a huge nuisance.
The side list works if I press down hard with my thumb/any other finger. But I can't just touch only one letter any more--I have to keep an even pressure on the entire list.
This is annoying. Is it also an update? Because that doesn't make any sense... the 'P' button on the keyboard still isn't working properly, though.
I tried a soft reset, then I tried a hard reset and restore. Didn't work.
I read on some other sites that this can be an effect of updates, but I'm not too sure about it. I even took off my protective cover to see if the screen worked/responded better. It doesn't. Plus I don't think I have a warranty for it, and I bought this iPod from Wal-Mart, not an Apple store.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
P.S. If I downgrade my iTunes to 9.2, can I restore my iPod touch's firmware back to 3.1.3? Just wondering. Thanks.

Thanks, you guys, for replying! I was getting scared.
    Really? You're kidding... I don't want to replace the screen. DD: I mean, it's happened to me before. I hope it'll go away in the next update because I swear, it was working fine before this. I didn't know my iPod had a hardware issue either. {sigh}
SpyglassSally: "If you've done a restore, and the touch screen is still not responding correctly, I think you need to bring it in to an Apple store or check out Service and Repair Online. The link can tell you your warranty info, regardless of where you purchased it. Your warranty is from Apple.
    Hope that answers your question."
I don't know if they warranty still applies. I'm pretty sure it's been a year since I first got it. Thanks, though.

  • Audi 2005 Car Interface - How to Downgrade Touch to 2.2.1

I have a newly installed car interface in an old (2005) Audi. This box is the only one compatible with my Audi Symphony sound system - the ones in new cars are problem free, I understand, but buying a new car for my iTouch seems like a radical solution...
Anyway, my Touch 2G iOS 3.0 plays back fine, but doesn't charge. Turning the radio off doesn't turn off the iTouch, so, if I forget to manually shut down (which I do every day) the battery is dead after work.
I recently borrowed an iTouch 2G iOS 2.2.1, identical to mine in every way except for the older version of iOS. Low and behold, the radio "on-off" controls the iTouch under 2.2.1!
I don't have apps, I don't use the iTouch for anything except my long commute. Downgrading to 2.2.1 would be a perfect solution for me.
Does anyone know how to do this?

My guess is that Apple doesn't offer the 7.1 installer online b/c they want to promote users to move up to Tiger. That's reasonable from a marketing and software development perspective, but for ProTools users, that's not yet a viable option. I thought I could get the 7.1 installer from the Apple site, but it's only the updater & it requires a previous install of 7.1.
Also, I'm making an assumption that my 7.2 authorization will allow me to run 7.1, but I don't know if that's really the case.
It should be easier to upgrade from Platinum to any later version - i.e. one that actually works in my situation.
    Thanks for your comments.

  • Ipod touch flashing screen issue

I have a 4th gen Ipod touch. A few days ago, a thin red line appeared near the bottom of the screen, about 1/4 of the way up. after a few days, it turned into a white line, and the screen flickers when using it. The line isn't there when I first start using it, but after a few minutes, it shows up, and then the screen begins to flicker. I have used up my warranty already, as I had to send my other one in, as it wasn't working, and they replaced it, and that was almost 8 months ago.
Has anyone else had this problem, or have any ideas what is wrong?
    Thanks
