Is it true that earplugs / phones should be 'broken in' before using? I've heard that you should let loud music play through them for 24+ hours before using them, to ge the best sound (kinda like home speakers). Any feedback on this?

I've been using mine since I had the Nomad Jukebox .
And I've been recommending it to everyone since the old fourm days.
So I don't think comments that it breaks easily are true.
I've coiled it round my all players and it still sounds as good.
It's been coiled round my JB, Nomad IIc, Muvo .5G and now my Zen Micro 5G.
So it's been quite a journey for for this little Sony and I will definitely get another Sony when this one finally gives up the ghost.

i heard that the sony MDR-EX7 are a-m-a-z-i-n-g but all i hear are good things about it. So i was wondering if you could tell me if theres ANYTHING wrong with the Sony MDR-EX7?

The sound quality isn't exactly the best in the world but they're still alot better than the rubbish earphones that come with most portable mp3 players. They simply have a fuller/richer sound, clear treble, decent mids and totally awesome bass, very much like a subwoofer; something that most supplied earphones can't even come close to reproducing. They perform best with music such as hip-hop, dance and heavy rock mainly due to the ear flapping bass. That said, they still sound great with more gentle music, although classical seems to sound the worst with the EX7s. For ?25 the sound is very good and totally enjoyable.
The only problems I have with them is the length of the wires, they seem to be designed for giants! The 'neck chain' is poorly implemented and interferes with your clothes too much and can annoyingly pull on your earbuds due to the excess wire. The rubber texture of the wire seems to cause too much friction, especially when its placed underneath your jacket. Also, due to the "in ear" design (for better sound isolation), you get 'microphonics' which basically means that you can hear yourself crunch on food while eating, or hear any vibrations that travel up the wires. You usually get use to this after a few days, but it can be a wierd experience at first.
Other than that, I still highly recommend the EX7s, they provide quite a major step up from supplied earphones in terms of sound quality and are not too expensi've. A good place to start if you're looking to improve your musical experience.

Hi everyone...
so i'm walking to school today.. plug in my good ol' 7's into my micro and what do i hear? nothing out of left year... at first i'm thinking.. oh.. the plug's not in complete.. so i give it a push.. and what do u know.. it won't go down any further... my heart skips a beat... could it be? could my baby be dead?
i get to school and plug in my headphones... and then i find out it's my 2 week old mdr7's that have crapped out... what the hell? anyone else have a problem w/ these?
sigh... back to the creative crap now...

wow... i never did any research on the sonys in terms of build quality... my friend who has them has told me they sound very good and i agreed after i got them
just can't believe they would crap out on me just 2 weeks into now... now that i did some research... many people around have had problems with them crapping out... blah...
what does suck is that my friend bought these for me from amazon... in the states... i'm in canada... anyone know how warrantee would go in this case? directly to sony? or amazon?

Creative zen xtra vs sony ericsson mp3 functional

I have both the sony ericsson w800i mobile (cellphone) and zen xtra 30 gb mp3 player. In my experience the sony software is far superior to that of creative in terms of reliability and functionality.
From the time I bought my zen xtra I have been totally frustrated by it - I have only been able to load a few tracks at a time from my pc before I get the familiar error message and 20 second timer. The xtra is not recognised sometimes, other times it starts when connected to the pc. I have tried this with several usb leads on 3 separate computers, all with more than adequate system resources to cope with the simple task of transfering mp3 tracks down a usb2 lead to the zen xtra. I have tried every tip, workround, on the support site. Nothing I have done has made any difference. I have reset the player, rebooted my computer, updated latest firmware, updated windows media player 0, followed the guidance to ensure that the usb settings in the registry are correct.
NOTHING WORKS!!!! THIS PRODUCT IS RUBBISH!!!!
By contrast, my Sony w800i phone has a very easy to use mp3 player, with a software interface called disc2phone which is a complete joy to use. Just 3 simple boxes, a couple of add or remove buttons and it is simplicity itself!!!
Clearly the phone has only a small memory, but due to the problems with the creative software, the phone has more music on it than the xtra!!!
Come on creative....Sort this problem out before I finally head for the nearest ipod store.

i have a question about these earphones cord quality i heard that the white cord is made out of a fabric kind of materaial that really isn't that durable and rips quickly or so called "dissolves" i was wondering is this true and if the black version is made out of the same material? Because i use my mp3 player alot and i want good quality sound and i finally decided to get these headphone. Please help me i need a timely answer because i am about to buy them along with another zen touch thanx for all your help.

Cause i had the sony mdr-j20 white versions and they cord quality on that was horribile it rip in just two weeks and i use my player just for commuting and while doing school work at home. and i heard it was the same type of cord on all sony white earphones and i really dont want to loose my money again in earphones. Thats why i was wondering that probably the black was better quality than the white version but i thank you for your help , i still don't know what to choose but i hope i make the right decision , by the way do you know of any retail stores that sell these headphones because i checked all the big names like compusa, bestbuy, staples and no of them carry it and info would help so that i can actually see the earphone before i buy them.

Zen xtra 30gb battery issue and question about headpho

frist thing is that my zen xtra 30gb is having a minor problem concerning its battery. when i charge it, the meter doesnt fill up, however when i unplug it, the correct amout on the power meter is there. what can i do about this.
second, im supposed to be getting the sony fontopia ex7 within the next few weeks, what would be the best recommendation for eq settings.

Whenever you get strange behaviour run a disk cleanup. To run a Disk Cleanup you need to access the Rescue Mode. To access the Rescue Mode hold down the play button and KEEP it held down, press the tiny reset switch once, and KEEP the play button held down until the player boots into the Rescue Mode. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.
If that doesn't help, you might also want to download and install the latest firmware update from Nomadworld.com downloads. Make sure to follow the instructions on the download page about how to upgrade.
If that doesn't help, then flatten the battery through normal use and recharge it fully before using it again (a full recharge takes at most about 4 hours). Do this a couple of times. Sometimes the indicators get "uneducated" and this is supposed to re-educate them.

Zen xtra 40 gig help

I got my Zen Xtra today. I changed all the ID3 tags of every MP3 I have to organze all my music on the MP3 player, but when i go into the artists list... It will have 2 seperte artists for the same one, for example it will say 50 cent and then 50 cent right under it, the name spelled the same way. This happens with a few artists. usually, most of the songs for that artist are under the top name and or 2 are under the 2nd. Please tell me how to fix this, I spent 3 hours fixing the Tags and I dont want it all to go to waste

Headphones comparison : Sony MDR-EX71SL vs MDR-EX5

Hi folks,
Can somebody explain me the diff between the 2 mentioned headphones : Sony MDR-EX7SL vs MDR-EX5LP.
I've noticed many people on this forum promoting the EX7, and then SSR is often mentioning them side by side EX5/7 when making recommendation.
I can't seem to understand what the difference is between the 2. They seem to have the same tech specs. Is it in the wiring or the supplied case?
Background : I would be interested to get some headphones to augment my Zen Micro experience (mostly used on walk / train to work).

So, anyone else has personal experience choosing between the 5 or 7? Here in Belgium, they don't seem to come cheap. I can find the 5 in a rather expensi've store for 45 EUR, and I found the 7 in a cheap store for 55 EUR. (multiply by .3 to get $ amounts).
and yes, I would guess you can easily find an extension cord for this type of cable, especially as there's (to my knowledge) no special feature to that supplied extension cord you lost (like e.g. there's no volume controller or so on it).

No driver found - Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra - WinXP

I have used my Zen Xtra for over 2 years now, with the same PC I am currently having problems with. I recently had to do a complete reinstall of Windows (note that I have done at least 2 other complete reinstalls during the life of my Zen Xtra, with no problems). Windows Device Managers sees the NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra, but with the yellow question mark and exclamation point. Each attempt at driver installation results in the same problem. The driver ("JB3MV2_PCWDRV_US__30_03.EXE") installs completely, I'm told to reconnect my device so the driver can take effect. When I do, the device is still marked in Device Manager with exclamation point and yellow question mark, and Windows continues to ask if it can find and install the driver. I have told it not to (knowing that I just installed Creative's own driver), with no success, and other times let Windows try to install the driver (hoping it would find the Creative driver that was just installed). No luck. I have even done another complete reinstall of Windows, and tried to install the driver before any other program or hardware installations into my system. No luck. Note that there are no hardware changes between now and when I have done other complete Windows reinstallations. It just no longer accepts the Creative driver. I have also tried to install the driver in safe mode, with the same results. I have also completely removed the Zen Xtra (showing hidden devices in the Device Manager), and tried to reinstall. Firmware version of Zen Xtra was upgraded over a year ago to 2.0.03.

Windows XP Pro SP2
38GB free hard dri've space
Zen Xtra firmware version: 2.0.03

I have the same problem. But when i try to installl it it says he is missing an .nfo file.
I removed WMP and reinstalled WM0 because is crap.
I have Windows XP SP2
I have the newst firmware on it.
Can somebody help me with this because it's annoying not to put any new music on your mp3 player.
I never experienced this before even after formatting my HD.
Almost the same problem as fritzm but not completely because het gets an different error.
I have installed the CD but that doesnt work either.
I have installed the software from the website but that didnt help because he doesnt recognize my player.

How can I use my Zen Xtra like a flash memory

Hello, I want to know how can I use my MP3 player like a flash memory.
I have one and if I conect it with other computers I can't transfer documents and with a flash memory I conect it in all the computers with Windows XP and all of they detect the flash memory and they can transfer documents.
With my Zen Xtra I connect it and the computer detects it but I can't transfer anything because the computer doesn't have the software.
My question is.. Do I have to install the software in all the computers that I use ? or there are other forms to conects PC and MP3 Player? ( I want to transfer documents like text, image, etc)

But some MP3 players do that, why this one can't be connected with all the computers ?

I can't get my Zen Xtra to work on my new comput

Hello. For years now, my Creative Zen Xtra has been working perfectly on my old (and I do mean old, Windows 98 old) computer. However, I recently bought a new computer with Windows Vista, and I just can't get it to work on there. I've installed all the software on the CD I got with the player, but when I open the player, it says "Not connected". All my other USB devices are working, and when I connect my MP3 player, it switches itself on, so I don't think there's anything wrong with my USB ports or the cable, and I can only assume there's something wrong with the software. I already tried looking for a driver update in the Downloads section of this site, but couldn't find anything for Vista.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be and how to solve it's If so, I'd be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

Deleting more than one file at a time from Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 4

Is there a way to delete more than one file at a time from Zen Xtra? Actually, I'd like to delete most of the 800+ files and the only way I've found is to do them one at a time..! Help!

Either use finder to drag and drop those tracks onto
"Library" in iTunes' left "Source" column or from
iTunes Menu Files use "Add to Library ..." then
navigate to a folder that keep a yoru tracks and
select that folder.
This did it! I was doing an "import" which would only let me do one song at a time. But the "add to library" and the drag and drop both worked. Thanks!!!

What user troubleshooting have you done on the phone? The steps are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. Understand that a restore will put the latest iOS on your device. It is also possible there is a hardware fault on the device and the Bluetooth is failing. Anything is possible given the scenario you describe.
And as far as iOS 7.x is concerned, we have 5 different iPhones here at home, all with the latest iOS, a 4, 4s, 5c, and 2-5s and all are working just fine. So, a blanket statement such as the one provided by the other poster is not completely true. Others are not having any issues at all either.

Creative MediaSource/Zen Xtra/Vista Is

I have had?a Zen Xtra for a couple of years, I recently got a new computer which has Vista Installed. After going through the nutroll that was downloading MediaSource for Vista and updating the firmware to be Play-for-sure, etc... everything seemed to work together. Except for one issue that I cannot figure out;
When I operated on Windows XP and I linked my Player to the computer I would see all my songs listed on the screen. Now on Vista I see folders of the albums as opposed to all the tracks listed. This is making creating playlists much harder, searches slower and general management of 6400 songs more difficult than it should be.
There has to be a way to be able to see all the tracks listed without folders, I am sure I am not the first. Has anyone here cracked the code on this yet?

To get it working with Vista you need to update the firmware to the latest ( last ?) version or one that starts with a number 2.something.
to do this you need:
a P.C running windows XP
and on that XP PC you MUST make sure that:
you have removed/rolled back windows media player
removed/rolled back windows media player runtime
even if you dont think any parts of WMP are there, check in add/remove programmes.
before starting the firmware update make sure that the battery is fully charged and the player is conecte dot the power suply/mains charger.
