Sony NX5u with FCP - it will help me to compare what others are doing

Earlier today I posted a topic regarding issues I'm having with SD footage shot on my NX5u cameras being very interlaced. Further, when viewing the footage on an SD tv (either via an external monitor through Firewire right off the timeline, or, exporting footage and burning to DVD via iDVD) it is very jumpy or jittery. A deinterlace filter helps this some, but not nearly enough to be comfortable giving product to client.
So, what would be helpful now is simply to hear from others on how you're handling footage from this camera in FCP - particularly SD. My camera settings are SD 720x480 60i. When playing this footage back on an HD tv the interlacing is severe, utterly unusable.
Compare this to my old camera (Panasonic DVX-100B; 720x480 60i) where the footage would appear somewhat distorted on an HD tv, but nothing more than as to be expected when viewing SD footage on an HD tv. But from the Sony camera it is not even usable, professionally.
I'm trying to trouble shoot and first determine if the "problem" is in camera or FCP. Further, with FCP capture settings, timeline settings, export settings, etc.
If you haven a suggestion then great, but I'm asking anybody using the NX5u with FCP to respond and just tell me your experience. That will help me troubleshoot.

Sorry for the lack of details. I thought about posting screen shots from the tv, so I will try that now, good idea.
Anyway, the camera is the Sony NXCAM HXR-NX5u. It records AVCHD files to SDHC cards. AVCHD files were converted to ProRes 422 upon L&T into FCP. As I learned in Shane Ross's tutorial on log & transfer workflow, I should have dumped the original files from the card onto a harddrive first, but to this point I have not done that. I have taken the footage straight into FCP (via converting to ProRes 422).
Late yesterday somebody mentioned to me that these cameras have had issues with SD. I haven't heard anymore on that or what issues they are.
As for the image quality being subjective, I understand what you're saying, but the amount of interlacing visible is far worse than anything I've done in the past (ie, tape-based SD cameras).

Whatever the rep told you, it is complete nonsense. There is clearly a problem at your end, the Apple TV 3 is capable of more than the Apple TV 2, and you clearly have the Apple TV 2 working perfectly. Since the Apple TV 2 is able to download from the Internet properly, then my suspicion would be your problem lies on your local network. Interference is a common problem on local networks.
Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

It was because the problem was major. If you do not know tech, you should know that a two day outage usually indicates some type of virus, hack, or a bad software load that they had to unravel. The common way to solve that is to rebuild servers and put back into service. That takes time.
Apple did not want to admit this problem. My guess at this stange was that they loaded new software that might be associated with the new IOS and it crashed. To reveal this would be to cast into doubt their future revenue.
Either way. Run do not walk away from Icloud products and services. Apple has demonstrated they can not be a business partner.

When I try to record audio with Soundflower, the recording has no audio. What am I doing wrong?

I am an amateur DJ trying to record a mix made in Cross DJ. I followed a tutorial instructing me to use Soundflower to route my system audio to QuickTime and have had no problem routing. Yet when I record the audio with QuickTime, the recording plays no audio. What am I doing wrong? I really need this mix recorded and I have no intention of downloading extra software.

This is because you have Punch on the fly enabled under Options (top menu)>Audio>Punch on the Fly.... signified by the letter P instead of the letter R

I have the same problem with my 3rd gen Apple TV. I can preview iTunes movies, stream from my Mac, Airplay from my other devices but I cannot rent a movie on iTunes. Every time I try I get "Can't connect to ITunes" and "Unable to sign in". Had technical support review the problem over the phone and they agreed to send me a new one. Same problem. Interestingly enough my 2nd gen Apple TV works just fine.

I have an iPad 1 and have had no major problems with it til now. I want to continue using it, I use it for many things and it would suck if it stoped working because of something IDK about. My first and only apple product.
The charger cable (That came with it) finally broke. The wires just came apart and it wasn't salvagable. I had an Ipod cord here that a friend left and plugged it into the original port (The one that was working fine with original charger and came with ipad). Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

Iphoto. When I play an album "slideshow" some photos show up as a blank/black screen. Please help if you know what I am doing wrong.

When I playing a "slideshow" album, a few photos show up as a blank screen. Also, when I select a photo in an album to make it full screen - some photos won't "hold" - they go full screen for about a second, then the screen goes blank. Any ideas about what I am doing wrong? Thank you.

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/ Library/ Caches...
5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help: As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

ITunes recently decided my debit card's security code in invalid. But nothing is wrong with the code or my card. how do I fix this? Apple support doesn't have a clue what they are doing and will not call me to fix this.

My bank sent me a new Debit card because of some security issue. It has the same number as my previous card but new experation and new security code. It worked fine for months then all of a sudden Itunes decided the security code is invalid. Now I can't even update my phone.
For the last week I have been going back and forth over email with apple support to fix it, but they keep telling me the same fix that doesn't work and frankly they are the worst support group I have ever worked with. I can't even get anyone to answer a phone, its just back and forth by email everyday.

In Firefox 3.6 and later on Windows you can hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu on a toolbar.
Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.

Firefox 4 is slow, even with an empty profile and fresh install. What am I doing wrong?

I installed FF4 on a couple of Windows-XP machines and it is very slow with our web application. FF3.6.16 is at least 5 times faster. I disabled the GPU hardware support but it did not help. I did a clean install and removed all existing profiles. So no bookmarks, cache or whatever is present. It still is very slow.

thanks for this info. I am also doing an ERP 2004 IDES install. I have all the 8 export files ready to go and am in the process of installing standard ERP 2004.
My question is, where do the 21 export images on the Marketplace come into the picture? I assume they are required for IDES (what else would require 14GB worth of files?) but am unclear at what point these files get used...? They are definitely for IDES, since they are marked "DVD IDES SAP ERP 2004 Install Export 1-21".
So far, my installer has not asked for these files, and the installer is the standard ERP 2004 master, disc 51031149_4, not related to IDES. These files are for Windows (exe and rar format), but I think they could be used on UNIX since they are data files inside...
any ideas?
