Sony projection tv

was wondering if i can see if best buy has a bulb for my tv in stock. i need a xl-5200 replacement lamp

You would not be able to buy this in-store, as parts are almost never carried. Go here and enter the projector model number. That site will find the bulb if BB carries it, and allow you to order it.

  • No video through Kinivo 301bn HDMI switch

    Apple TV MD199LL/A
This problem started in late October. Unfortunately, I cannot correlate it to the Apple TV software upgrade pushed out at that time.
From Feb 2013 through October 2013, this setup worked fine:  Apple TV --> Kinivo 301bn --> HDMI-DVI cable --> Sony Projection TV.  Now, there is no video but audio works fine.
I have restored the Apple TV through iTunes, upgraded Apple TV to 6.0.2 (released 14 November 2013), even got a replacement Apple TV from the Apple store, and in all cases, video will not pass through the Kinivo HDMI switch.
I removed the switch from the equation (Apple TV --> HDMI-DVI cable --> Sony Projection TV) and everything works perfectly at 720p (the TV does not support 1080p).
Kinivo is sending a new switch, but I am guessing that will not fix the problem.
Does anyone know if Apple messed with HDCP in the 6.0.1 SW update for Apple TV (24 October 2013)?
If not, does anyone have any other ideas as to the problem/solution?

Just to follow up and close this out:
    - Kinivo's replacement had the same issue.
    - I daisy-chained another active device between the Apple TV and the Kinivo. This device splits the audio out from the HDMI into L/R channels, but it also maintains the EDID signal back to the Apple TV (as the Kinivo should, as well.)
In this configuration, video successfully made it to the TV through the Kinivo. My conclusion is that the Apple TV configuration did change something that affected part of the EDID handshake, which the Kinivo switch could no longer handle.
For you geeks out there, this phrase from an Extron white paper may help:
"Additionally, a display may handle a new input selection by switching only the TMDS or DDC lines from the previous source, but doing nothing with the HPD line. This can be a problem, because some sources wait for the HPD line to change state before sending video. In such cases, switching between inputs on a display can result in no viewable picture until the system is power-cycled."
For your additional reading pleasure, please see the following links:
    http://www.extron.com/download/files/whitepaper/edid_guide_wp.pdf
    http://missingremote.com/blog/experience-hdmi-handshake-issues
I'm now searching for a single active device that will handle these ambiguous areas within the HDMI standard. Hopefully it won't cost me a mint.
In the end, Kinivo could not solve the problem, so they refunded my money. The switcher was still within the 1-year warranty.

  • Movies are dark

Recently purchased Apple TV - downloaded 3 movies from itunes, found all to be unusually dark compared to the original DVD. Using component input to 1080i widescreen, just swapped out the Sony DVD player for the Apple TV - DVD player looks fine through same inputs. Any thoughts??
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.10)
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I've read a number of reports that others are seeing the same problem (video too dark). I know that most of the video content that I've purchased from the iTunes Store seems too dark when displayed from the AppleTV to my Sony projection TV. I'm also using a component input so that may be the common issue. I've not had this problem with several DVD players or my cable TV box even when those are connected to the same component input (by swapping the devices).
The real problem, however, is that the AppleTV picture is so far off from normal ("normal" being my other video sources) that it is very difficult to adjust the TV to bring the AppleTV content back to a pleasing and proper color, contrast, and brightness. I suspect that with a careful calibration/matching you could significantly improve the look of the video from the AppleTV, but as I noted I find that pretty difficult to do because the required adjustments are pretty extreme and you have to adjust just about every setting on the TV to balance the resultant picture. It's not that it is too dark or of such poor quality that you can't watch the content, but in my hands it is too dark and the color and contrast suffer because of that.
It would be nice if Apple provided a set of color bars and video targets that you could use to adjust the TV (a known standard with some good video samples).

  • Importing a project from Sony Vegas

I'm trying to import a project that was initially edited in Sony Vegas to do audio and color correction in Final Cut. Apart from rendering the project out to an HDV tape, and re-importing it into Final Cut through Log and Capture, what is the best methodology so as to retain the most data for timelines, etc.
We can even go so far as to have the original hard drives, but I just can't fathom how to migrate into final cut.
    Suggestions?

The back to tape method sounds good. Otherwise using flip4mac to import an intermediate AVI's is also good.

  • Trial Première pro CS3 combined with Sony DHR-1000NP/No sound rendering the Première Project

    Dear friends,
I am a belgian and I have many years of good experience with Pinnacle DV500, Adobe Première 6.0 and the Sony DV Recorder DHR-1000NP.
As I want to make a further step, I downloaded the trial of Adobe Première Pro CS3; I installed this trial on 2 OTHER computers, Windows Professional XP , SP2. With both I have the same problem!
I get good .avi's from my DV tapes, played with the same Sony DV Recorder DHR-1000NP, over a fire wire, connected with the OHCI of the computer.
When playing the obtained Première project, the video and audio on the screen and the amplifier of the computer, are perfect; the videosignal over the firewire and the Sony DV Recorder DHR-1000NP is also perfect, but there is absolutely NO audiosignal reaching the Sony DV Recorder DHR-1000NP.
Who can explain me how I should manage that problem?
    Thank you for helping!
    With my best regards,
    Marc

    Beste Marc

  • What format to export fcdp project recorded on sony z1 for dvd studio pro

what format do I export a Final Cut Studio project recorded on sony z1 HDV for dvd studio pro. I am getting lines on the edges if I export current settings.

HD-DVD is a dead format. It may play on your mac - or an HD-DVD set top player, if you happen to have one - but nowhere else. If you just want playback on your mac, compress to h.264 with your current frame size. If you want a DVD it will have to be SD and Mpeg-2 as Shawn already explained.

  • Sony SR-11 video "backjerks" in Project viewer but not Log Transfer viewer

For example, in both the project canvas and viewer, people's heads may be turning to the right in the frames leading up to "backjerk" frame and again after the "backjerk" frame, but their heads jerk to the left at the "backjerk" frame. For example, for clip 805:
    Frame
    06:24 normal progression
    07:00 - 07:06 normal progression
07:07 picture jumps back to same image as frame 07:00
07.08 picture jumps forward to expected image after frame 07:06
    07:09 - 07:19 normal progression
07:20 picture jumps back to same image as frame 07:13
07:21 picture jumps forward to expected image after frame 07:19
The "backjerk" frames move 1 frame with each succeeding frame count of 24. Hence in the next batch of 24 frames, the "backjerk" frames are 08:08 and 08:21, and so on.
When viewed in the Log and Transfer Viewer or camcorder, there is no "backjerk". Quicktime was unable to open the files copied directly from the camcorder stream. Quicktime could open the files after transfer and saving but had the same "backjerk" problem.
The video was recorded on a Sony SR-11 at 25 fps, AVCHD 1920x1080 and transferred to FCE using Log and Transfer. Capture did not work due to lack of firewire connection. The clips appeared in the Log and Transfer Window, were dragged to the lower area where "drag media here" appeared, and were saved in a project.
When the clips were dragged to the canvas in the project, I tried both yes and no to the question as to whether I wanted to change the format to be compatible with the External Video. Neither worked.
The Easy set up is "HD", "25 fps" and "AVCHD Apple Intermediate Codec/50".
FCE is version 4.0.1. Computer is MacPro, OS X Version 10.5.7; Processor: 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon. Memory: 6GB 1066 MHz DDR3, 170 GB of memory available on HD
    Any suggestions?

  • Ghosting Problem in HD project (shot with Sony HDW-F900)

Hi, I'm having a problem with 'ghosting,' at least I think that's the word for it. Essentially when there is motion in the frame, I see the previous frame sort of 'on top of it,' resulting in 'motion trails.' Can anyone suggest how to fix this?
Here are my settings...project was shot with Sony HDW-F900 HDCAM 24p
    720x480 NTSC DV
Pixel Aspect Ratio: NTSC CCIR 601 / DV 720x480
    Frame Rate 23.98
    Compessor: DVCPRO HD 1080i60
Render all YUV material in high-precision YUV
    Process Maximum White as: White
    Motion Filtering Quality: Best
Filters, Frame Blending for Speed, and Motion Blur are checked
    Any help would be great...thanks!
    G5 Quad   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

when you capture hdcam shot at 23.98 you need to come in HDSDI and the deck set to 23.98. If you have the deck set to 23.98PD you'll be getting 29.97 tc down the 422 control not 23.98. If you use the PD setting and the dvcproHD 1080i60 you get footage with pulldown, the cadence being set by the 24 frame, 30 frame, options in the menus of the deck. these should be set so evry second on the second the time code matches. Sony actually uses 23.98 timecode in 1080Psf. Your rental house should be able to provide a workflow for you. My guess is the ghosting is not ghosting but interfield motion, now that you are not in a progressive format.

  • CS3 - Simple Project - DVD-R Plays in Sony, NOT Panasonic!!

Hi all - I am following this thread with some interest. I am having the exact same issues with Encore CS3. VERY simple project, it all checks out fine, previews perfectly.
    My questions are:
I have an interesting issue on my first use in anger of CS3.
Does CS3 burn an "appendable" disk? I think it does! If so, will that affect DVD player compatibility?
I have tried direct burning to DVD-R (Verbatim), and it plays fine on my SONY DVD player, but comes up as "Unsupported" on my Panasonic standalone DVD/HDD recorder drive. Is this a DVD player firmware issue?
If so - I guess I need to find out how to close the disk through Adobe CS3. (Note I have tried closing these DVD-R's through another application such as Roxio 10, but it craps out stating it thinks there is like 400GB free on the disk!!)
Other things I have tried include building an ISO file AND a DVD folder, neither of which will burn using Cyberlink DVD Suite. THey are not recognised! Arrgh. Any ideas?
Anything else I can try would be MOST useful!!
    >Joe

Well I now have a few more tidbits to add... I have burnt the same avi file using Roxio 10 & it's DVD creator application, using menus etc. Success! So it's not the BD-R disc format, as I'm using the same brand etc throughout all this.
The only other problem I'm having is the audio which seems to drift around 0.2 and 0.7 (or so) seconds across the picture! (the original avi file is bang on). Is there any generic method to investigate the cause of such an issue now?

  • How do I transfer a Pre8 Project in to Sony DVD Architect

Pre8 is just dissapointing. I have not had any luck with this product especially regarding menu creation. In order to creat a better menu I would like to transfer my project in to Sony DVD Architect. Can anyone give me some advice on how to do this?
    Thanks,
    Nick

I do agree. They have one of the best authoring programs, that I have ever used. I do not know what their sales numbers were, when it was a stand-alone, up through EncoreDVD 2.0, but even if they had to do two, slightly different versions, I'd love to see them put it for sale alone.
Going back to EncoreDVD 2.0 (my version), there were basically two versions, or at least variations on it. If one bought is separate, there was no Adobe Dynamic Link. If one bought it as part of the Production Studio (as I did), one got Dynamic Link between it and PrPro. Now, with CS3, Adobe Dynamic Link has been improved, and with CS4, there's more improvement and strengthening. Maybe trying to separate out a version with Dynamic Link and one without, would be too much coding now. Or, it could just be a lack of sales. IIRC, it was about US$300 for the stand-alone. Maybe there was just no market for it, regardless of how good it was. I'm just glad that Adobe did not kill it off, and continues to keep it in the suites for PrPro. However, I love my EncoreDVD 2.0 so much, that I would never give it up. Now, when I move to BD production, I will either need to upgrade to CS4, or CS5, and get the newer version of Encore for that.

  • Importing a CS3 file to CS4 project with Sony EX1 xml offline media error

I'm importing CS3 projets into CS4 using Sony EX1 files.  In CS3, when you imported a folder containing EX1 HD files, both an XML and an MP4 file would pull into the bin, and if you brought the xml file onto the timeline, it would interpret and play.   In CS4, if the imported project contained references to the xml file, it displays the "Media Offline" thumbnail.   Is there a way to globally replace any reference to the xml file with the equiavlent mp4 file name?

You can't go backwards.  For the offline issue, try this:

  • Thoughts on using a Sony Vaio with CS5 for HD event video projects?

Basically I would need to use my Sony Vaio F12 laptop to edit HD  wedding videos on CS5. I wanted some opinions on my equipment so i will  be able to edit a long project(about an hour to 2 hours) smoothly with  no dropped frames, errors, system crashes, etc. So I would basically i  need a setup that can keep up.
Specs: Sony Vaio - Intel Quad Core i7 1.73 Ghz(Mobile version), 6 gig  ram, 500 gb 7200 rpm HD, Nvidia GeForce GT 330M(1GB dedicated video  memory)
I know I would at least have to use an external HD from the video and  audio. I have a 1TB Samsung Story external USB and another 1 TB one  that is eSata but am having problems with the esata port on the Sony.
Would this be adequate or would their be some obvious areas that you could see causing problems? I'm thinking the USB external might cause a bottleneck for one.

The assumption for why there is negligible performance gain is incorrect. If they changed the speed of the CPU and had an understanding how CUDA works they would probably have seen that. The GPU can only perform as well as the CPU allows it. What this means is the CPU has to process the threads before sending the appropriate data to the GPU for processing via the System ram. There are many factors that effect CUDA and especially performance with the MPE. The biggest though is the processor. If you set a GPU monitor utility, you can monitor the activity on the GPU while the CPU is at stock speed and then at overclocked. You will see a sizable difference in performance/usage on the GPU and GPU ram based on the speed of the CPU. What this tells you is that the GPU may be the best performing you can get but it will sit more than 90% idle if the CPU is taking to long to process the data it requires. CUDA sends threads to all available CUDA cores and is not limited at all like CPU threading. It literally just throws threads out there to the cores in simple terms. The assumption is incorrect in the link you reference.

In the tv manual it says the DVI connection is compliant with EIA-861 standard and is not intended for use with personal computers.
Does this mean it just won't work?
Can i connect to the tv by going with Mini dvi to vga and then using s-video cable?

Did you try connecting the two while powered down, then turning them on? That's what the mac os help recommends. You may need to select the correct input on your tv, also. Both VGA and s-video should work.
