Sony RAW .awr files, how to open in Lightroom 2

Anyone got an answer?

Not a lot of information to go on. What camera, what computer, what operating system, etc., etc. But, IF your Sony camera is a new one that was released after Lightroom 3 was released then you will have to use the DNG converter (free download from Adobe) to convert your raw files to the DNG format. Then you will be able to open them with Lightroom 2.

  • I am trying to import for Sony RAW .mxf files in AE. I get an error message, cannot be imported - this.mxf file is damages or unsupported.

I am on a PC. AE version 12.1.0.168. It is updated.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem. We are working on a feature film shot on Sony F55 in 4K RAW.

Thanks. Now it works in PP and AE.

First, your AE needs to be updated. The current version is 12.2.1.5
If that does not fix the problem let us know.
Second question, are you using the Sony import utility? If not, give that a try. Last question, can you open the files in Premiere Pro? I hope you are not trying to cut a feature film in After Effects.

  • Import Sony RAW .arw files not automatic

I decided to take the plunge yesterday I downloaded the trial LR2 (now 2.1) and purchased Kelby's Lightroom 2 book. All my catalog from PSE6 imported without a hitch. That's over 12000 photos with about half of them Minolta (.mrw) and Sony RAW (.arw) files. Then I decided to import the shots I had just taken from a weekend photoshoot. I plugged in my CF into the card reader and started LR. When I clicked on the IMPORT button for my CF location all I got was the message "NO PHOTOS WERE FOUND TO IMPORT". I can import the files using the manual CHOOSE FILE option but I want it to work just like PSE with auto import. From what I understand that should be the case. After a Google search I found importing Sony RAW images (.arw) was an issue in LR1, but shouldn't Aobe have fixed it by now?? Just as an aside, if I'm having this issue with .arw files, when I import the RAW images from my Minolta 7Hi I wonder if I'll have the same issue.
Since its a trail version I'm not eligible for Adobe support, so there is no help coming from there.

  • Camera Raw Update Problem: how to open Fuji X-E2 Raw files in CS5?

I just purchased a Fuji Xe2 but my .RAF files are not compatible with my CS5's version of Camera Raw (6.7).  I have tried to go through the Help menu to update but it states my product is up to date. I tried to manually download and install but I just get an error message.  How do I fix this?

Familiarize yourself with these two tables
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
The X-E2 was first supported by Camera Raw 8.3 which is only compatible with CS6, CC and later.
It will never be backward compatible with earlier versions so you won't be able to open XE-2 Raw files in CS5.
    Some options:
    Upgrade to CS6
    Join the Cloud
Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all X-E2 Raw files to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS5.

  • How do you edit Olympus E-600 RAW file so it opens in Lightroom?

I have tried using '0xED' program to edit the file and change the name to E-620. I have tried altering the camera profile to rename it to E-620 but that also does not work. I know there is a workaround for editing the files on a Windows computer but does anyone know how to do it on a Mac?
    Thanks
    Stu

It's not as simple as that. The E-620 profile in Lightroom will not open E-600 files because it cannot see that it is a E-620 file. The RAW files other than that are identical. So that is why they need to be edited so Lightroom thinks they are really E-620 files or change the camera profile so it says E-600 and can therefore open up the RAW file.
Sorry I have just noticed I said 620 in the title and not 600! I have now changed that.

  • Can't view Sony RAW (.ARW) file in Adobe Bridge

    Hi all,
    Need some assistance here.
I'm currently using Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Bridge.
I've installed the Adobe Camera Raw update version 4.6.
With this, I'm able to do the relevant editing with the Sony Alfa raw files (.ARW) in Camera Raw.
But the funny thing is, when using adobe bridge I can't view the thumbnails as I view it in camera raw / photoshop.
The thumbnails is "blank". This only happens on .ARW files. I'm able to view jpeg files in thumbnail.
When I check the camera raw preferences in adobe bridge, it shows me it's 4.6.
I'm currently using Mac OS X (Leopard).
Do any of you faced this before?
Hope that any of you could shed a light on this matter.
    Thank you in advance.

Have you figured out a workaround for this?  Most of the forums regarding this issue
are windows related or full of arguments.  I'm guessing there may not be a solution to this problem so I'm curious what approach you're taking.
    Thanks!

  • What causes RAW DNG files not to open in PSE 7?

I installed converter 5.5 but I still cannot get PSE to open DNG file.  The error message is "could not complete the request . . file not a valid photoshop document".  The error message is the same as I got before I installed 5.5 but the converter symbol is adjacent to the DNG photo file so perhaps that install worked if it didn't work before.  I have no problem in opening or re-opening the file in the raw processing software.  The manual says I should be able it open processed files (DNG) in PSE editor.  Where did I go wrong?
    Thank you
    George

    Thanks for the reply, LPF.

Right, this is the Adobe community....
    LittlePaleFace wrote:
You are correct in that ACR 6.4 or later is required to read the Nikon D5100 raw files.
The last ACR that PSE 7 supports is ACR 5.5.
That is what I was afraid of.
    LittlePaleFace wrote:
Adobe does provide the free DNG converter for those who wish to continue to use old versions when they upgrade their camera. Some people actually prefer to do the conversion even if the camera is supported by the version of PSE that they have.
Unfortunately the Adobe DNG throws a message to the effect of "File was unable to be written" on every file, without any further explanation.

  • Raw files do not open from Lightroom into Photoshop 2014

I developed files in LR and trying to open them into PS 2014 CC, it launches the program but do not open. Any idea what to do?

    Hi,
This is a bug resulting from an uninstall of the previous Ps CC version (14.x). We are working on a fix for this currently.
If you would like to resolve this before we can post the fix, you need to uninstall Ps CC 2014 (15.0) [you don't have to remove preferences when asked], and then reinstall.
    Sorry for the hassle.

  • Unix Executable Files how to open

I have a disc from a design company which contains many Unix Executable Files. I have no idea what the content files extensions are and some of the files are quite large. The cotents are important for my job. Is there any way I can open these files? A 5 hour internet search and I'm no closer to a solution, I'm just more confused. I am scared to just try adding a 'guess' extention as the contents I am hoping to find are ai, psd or other hi res but there could be text data. I am scared of destroying stuff. Can anyone help me please?
    Thank you,
    Amanda

If the file follows the "proper conventions", in terminal use the file command.  In terminal, type the command file followed by a space.  Then drag one of the files into the terminal window.  You will see a line that looks something like,
    file path-to-file
Hit return.  If it's a file that the file command can recognize it will tell you what it thinks it is.  It it isn't it will tell you it's just a data file.
If it's a executable mach-o file file will tell you that and for which architecture.  But if you are getting these files from some non-Mac system the odds are pretty good they can't be executed in the mac environment because they won't follow the mac architectural coding conventions or they aren't even mach-o executables in the first place.  If they did come from a mac system and are executable, then without any documentation on each file you can only guess at what they may do (or screw up).  Many unix tools have a convention where if you just execute them without any arguments they may give you some minimum help info on what they do.  But it may not.
Not one of those files documents what on that CD?
If file does recognize the file, say as a pdf, or text, etc., then you probably can use mac tools to open them.  For example, if it's pdf (gif, jpg, etc.) open it with preview.  If text, open with textedit.

  • Imovie 2.0.1 files, how to open in Tiger

Hello. I am not proficient with Macs, so please be patient if I write something nonsensical.
In 2001 I made some movies on an iMac running iMovie 2.0.1
I still have the iMac, the movies still play well on it. I copied the files/folders onto an external firewire hard drive, and then connected the drive to my Powerbook (1Ghz G4 running OSX 10.4).
The hard drive is recognized, but when I try to open the old movies using iMovie HD the files aren't recognized.
I tried opening them in "classic" mode, this didn't work either.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. BTW, I want to keep the projects in a form that I can edit them in, so simply exporting to Quicktime won't be a satisfactory solution.

OK, you are very smart, because you looked at the entire "story". You inferred that while I'm not Mac proficient, I am vaguely computer proficient, and that there's a possibility that the external HD is PC formatted. Which indeed it is, which I was able to verify using your easily-followed instructions. Very impressive problem solving! Whatever it is you do I bet you are very successful at it.
Well, I and we don't yet know for certain the problem is solved. I just "initialized" (I call it "formatted" (!)) another external HD using the old iMac, and am copying the old iMovie files onto it (note: so now the drive is formatted by Sys9, not OsX). When that's done I'll connect it to the Powerbook and we'll see what happens.
As to your other question, I used IM2 for Sys 9 when I made the movies.
Side-bar question: the mp3 files on the PC-formatted external HD showed up as iTunes icons and played without problem or hitch. What is different between mp3 files and iMovie files that the mp3 files are not "bothered" by the file system and iMovie files are? Is it something to do with the resource/data forks?
    Thanks again.

  • How to open a lightroom tif in photoshop?

I have a document in lightroom that I want to edit in photoshop. Do I export? what is a dng?

From LR's Develop module, using the menu:  / photo / edit in / photoshop
If you don't have Photoshop setup as an external editor: menu: / Edit / Preferences / External Editing
This will create a new file, send it to Photoshop, then add the saved photoshop file to the catalog when photoshop is finished.

  • D800 RAW files will not open in Photoshop CS6

I have just installed the CS6 upgrade to Photoshop CS4 Extended, but now the software will not read the RAW files from my D800.
I have followed Adobe's instructions to check that I have the correct RAW plug-in (7.0.0.308) which I have.  I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled the software without success.  I do not want to convert my RAW files into DNG files, so I have ignored that step.
The 'Open in Photoshop' instruction in Lightroom 4 does not open my D800 RAW files either, although the files can be opened in Lightroom 4 OK.
Any idea what the problem is?

Brilliant!  ACR 7.1 Beta allows D800 RAW files to be opened within CS6 and it also allows Photoshop 4 to open D800 RAW files in Photoshop CS6.
It says that the Beta version will expire on 30/6/2012 after which it will keep advising on a daily basis although it will still work.  Any idea, what happens next?   Does Adobe issue a proper ACR 7.1 and distribute it as part of the update service?

  • Working with Slow motion (240fps) Sony F55 Raw mxf files

I'm working on a project that uses both 25p files and 240fps slow motion files from a Sony F55.
The problem is that when I add the slow motion files to my file list everything gets media pending, even the normal 25p files. If I delete the the slow motion files from the list the normal 25p gets back to normal behaviour, withous Media Pending.
It seems that Premiere Pro cannot work very good with Sony RAW 240fps files. Is that I known bug? Is there a way to fix it?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have the same issue, I have tried with CS6 and CC same issue.
    even with the sony plugin.
