Sony Reader App

I have a 2Gen iPad.  I recently downloaded the Sony Reader app but it won't work.  I keep getting an error (50504).  I've read many topics in other places and they say to make sure you have Adobe Digital Editions installed and that your Apple ID and your Adobe ID are the same (or maybe it was the password that had to be the same).  Either way, both are the same for me and I am still having no luck.
Anyone out there having the same problem or SOLVED this problem?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Sony has built a Reader app, but Apple blocked it 2-3 months ago. I don't know why, so please don't ask - Apple doesn't say.
However, Bluefire reader, available in the App Store, will read Sony Reader .epubs, and does a pretty decent job. I'm not sure about th earlier format Sony used about 2.5 years ago, but there's a desktop utility, Calibre (free) which will convert if you need to.

  • Sign-In Problem with Sony Reader app on Samsung Tablet

Was using the Sony Reader app on a Samsung tablet, then signed out.  Because of doing that could not access books anymore.
Attempted to sign in and it didn't recognize my sign-in (Sony Reader Store continues to).
Got an Adobe Sign-in screen and it doesn't recognize my sign-in so used their link to reset my password, which I did.
Reader app on tablet doesn't recognize new or old password.  What do I have to do to be able to read books again?

Have you tried logging into http://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com/ with the same account and accepting the terms and conditions there?

  • Adobe reader app not working with sony ereader app.

Adobe reader on my android tablet does not accept login & therefore I can't get my Sony ereader app to work.
    How do I fix this?

I am having the same problem. While they might not have anything to do with each other, it seems to be connected to Adobe somehow .When I launch the App on my phone or my tablet,It asks for my sony e reader log in and password. When I put that information in, it then asks me for my adobe ID conformation ..Specifically it says        "Sony Reader Store is using Adobe DRM technology for rights protected content. Please enter your Adobe ID and password to proceed". So you can see how I might think they they are somehow connected. When I put in my Adobe ID and password, nothing happens..it just keeps going to the above mentioned screen and asking for the same info over and over. This happens on multiple devices (3 devices to be exact) so I am a little confused as to what I am doing wrong . I am sure I am missing a step. Perhaps I am asking my question in the wrong forum, but if sony ereader and adobe arent connected then why do they need my adobe log in ? I am not sure if the origifnal poster and I are having the same problem, but any help would be appreciated.

  • Can't log into sony e reader app on my android phone

I just got a new phone because the screen on my last one cracked, same model and everything. I didnt have this issue with my last one, but on this one when I downloaded the sony e reader app and tried to log into it, it asked me to log into my Adobe ID account because it uses Adobe DRM technology for content rights protection. It keeps telling me my username or password is incorrect. I reset my password and am able to log in on chrome but still no luck with the sony e reader app. Am I doing something wrong?

Is this Sony ereader app running on the phone?
Try the Bluefire app instead, or maybe Aldiko.
Some apps have issues with registration, Bluefire generally seems pretty reliable.
    Also, some apps or the Adobe DRM server have issues where there are special characters in the password;
if necessary change to a simpler password (yes; against all the rules of good passwords, but that's the Adobe DRM infrastructure for you)
When you say and am able to log in on chrome do you mean you are able to log on to the Adobe website on Chrome?

  • ADE doesn't recognize Sony Reader in Mac OS 10.5 after Sony EBL 3.0 update

I've got a PRS-505, and I just put Sony eBook Library 3.0 on my Mac laptop running Leopard 10.5, but Adobe Digital Editions still won't recognize the Reader when I plug it in.
I've tried deauthorizing the computer and the device, and reinstalling ADE. The Reader works with eBook Library, and it still works with ADE on my old Windows machine.
But, whenever I plug in my Reader on the Mac, it gets recognized by EBL but not ADE. Nothing happens in ADE.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    YEAY!
I just got the solution (that worked for me, anyway) from a Sony support rep. No PC or VMWare needed.
OK, you've installed Sony eBook Library v3, and Adobe Digital editions, you've set up your acocunts and authorized your computer on both of them, and you've authorized your Reader with the Sony Library application.
You go to the public library ebook download page, either through the Sony Library or just through a bookmark.
You check out a book, and open it in Adobe Digital Editions, which still won't recognize your Reader.
BUT, in the Sony Library app, you can now click "File, Import.." and go find the pdf you downloaded with the Adobe app.
On my Mac, it was in ~/Documents/Digital Editions
Import it, and drag it to your Reader.
The first time you do this, it will ask you to authorize the Reader with your Adobe ID.
    Worked like a charm.

  • Cannot transfer e-book to Sony reader

I have been unable to transfer a downloaded book from my computer to my Sony reader since getting Foxfire. What am I doing wrong. Followed lib. instr. but I can't do it anymore

Thank you for all the help and suggestions, I really appreciate it and probably should have supplied this information at the start. Kind of hard to diagnose a problem when all you have is a temperature and none of the blood work.
Problem solved....sort of. Here is the situation. I have 32bit Itunes on my XP desktop and 64 bit Itunes on my Vista laptop. My Vista Itunes points to my desktop Itunes media file. Something got confused along the way and Itunes and I got confused over which is which. I now have things pointed to where they should be and the books are ok. BUT....there are a lot of apps on the Ipad that are not in Itunes. When I sync the Ipad the first thing that happens is a backup. Itunes then says that there are purchases on my Ipad that are not in Itunes, do I want to move them? I say yes, Itunes says it is moving them, then completes the sync, but when all is said and done, all the apps are not in Itunes.
    Any idea why?

  • Sony Reader Issue

I wasn't sure where to post this, so forgive me if this is the wrong group.
I have an issue with my Sony eReader and the "Reader Library" software that it comes with. It was previously working fine for me under Snow Leopard.
I got a new 27" iMac, and migrated my files from my old iMac using a Time Machine backup. Now, when I log into Reader Library, it says that my computer is not authorized to view content. So, the actual software is not tethered to my new iMac.
Should be an easy fix right? Just log into my Sony Reader account and reauthorize my computer. However, when I do that the account page shows that my new computer IS associated with the new computer. However, it won't let me de-autorize it.
I have tried uninstalling, and reinstalling the software, and all the Sony Preferences. No luck.
Does anyone know how to nuke all of the Sony Reader info on my iMac so that I can start over?
By the way, the Reader software will NOT allow me to de-authorize my iMac from another computer.
I had a similar issue with my iTunes library when I migrated my files, but that was an easy fix.
Sorry if my post isn't clear enough... I'm working on very little sleep!

If you have already purchaced using ADE you must already have an ADE account.
Continue to use that same account if you want to be able to read those books.
Your AdobeID may well be the same as your Google email, but the password won't necessarily be the same (indeed, it is much more secure if it isn't the same).
You should probably install the Bluefire app on the tablet, and register it with your old Adobe ID (using the old Adobe password).
The you can copy books from PCs or Macs using Windows Explorer or similar file managers, and read them on Bluefire.
I hope that answers your questions: if you need more detail or I have misunderstood, please post again.

  • Universal book reading app

I read a lot and presently have three ebook apps. I need to jump between Amazon, Barnes and Noble and iBooks to select a book. I would like there to be one repository for all downloaded books so I can select what to read. Is there such an application?

I would like there to be one repository for all downloaded books so I can select what to read.
Wouldn't we all. Unfortunately, as Tamara indicated, this is not likely to happen in the near future. Basically, there are two problems--a common book format and device DRM sharing between devices/readers. Amazon, of course, uses its own proprietary AZW format for most/all items available in its store while Apple, B&N, Sony, and a host of others support the ePUP format. PFD's appear to be about the only format common to both groups and it is supported differently by the two camps--where one side treats the content as images and the other as text with limited "reflow" capabilities. Even then, the content usually has to be exported for a limited target dimension range to achieve optimum quality. Even if this worked better, there is still the problem the DRM (assuming you are not limiting your reading exclusively to public domain, your own writings, and/or the use of "archived/back-up" of personally owned intellectual content for private use. Basically, purchased files are DRM'd for a specific device/reader or a limited number of "authorized" devices/readers associated with your purchase account from whichever source you chose to use. Until or unless these sellers begin to allow the "cross-registration" of such devices/readers, it is unlikely you will ever find a "universal" device/reader app.

  • Sony Reader books onto my iPad?

I have 6 books I purchased on my old Sony Reader, I would like to be able to read them on my iPad. Can someone please walk me thru the steps, I have tried putting them into iTunes and transferring to iBooks (did not work), I emailed one to myself and tried to open it with Bluefire, that didn't work either. Thanks.

I fixed my own problem! Upload from your Sony Reader to your computer (no software needed), save your books in a desktop file. Then email each book (one at a time is best) to yourself. Open the email on your iPad and the book will download within the email (I use Gmail). Touch your finger to the downloaded title and a menu will appear, you can choose to open it with Kobo (if you have an account) OR you can open it with Bluefire Reader (free App). The only catch is before you can read it you have to remember the Adobe ID and password that you bought the books with. To me, this was the most difficult task, as I had used a now defunct email address from years ago! I tried all the more recent ones first, none worked. I finally went WAY BACK to early email addresses and passwords and VOILA, I now have all six of my Diana Gabaldon books on my new iPad Air 2, in both Kobo and Bluefire.

  • Adobe digital editions for sony reader

I have successfully partitioned my hard drive, loaded a new copy of Windows Vista Home Basic (several times) but the Digital Editions software necessary to use the Reader will not install on the widows partition - I get an error message every time - "corrupt file digital editions". All drivers etc seemed to load from bootcamp without any problem. Help??

Since the issue is not really Mac related but related to Sony's app and Windows, you should really post your question on a Windows forum such as the ones here:
    http://forums.windowsforum.org/
    http://forums.windowsitpro.com/
    http://forums.techguy.org/
Or on Adobe's forums, as Apple discussions only provide support for Apple products.

  • I cannot download Adobe Reader app using my IPod Touch 4th Generation due to iOS upgrade.

I have an IPod Touch 4th Generation (the older model) and the highest operating system stops at iOS 6.1.6. Unfortunately, when I tried to download Adobe Reader app, it only works for the newer IPod Touch 5th Generation with an operating system of iOS 7.0 or higher. My question is that since I cannot download Adobe Reader app, is there a way for me to open PDF files on my IPod Touch by using Safari? There is no way I can find an Adobe Reader app that works for my operating system or an operating system that works for iOS 6.0 or lower. Is there another program similar to Adobe Reader where I can open PDF files that works for iOS 6.0 or lower?
    Thanks.

    Krispy2010,
Please note that my instructions are intended for Adobe Reader for iOS, not for all iOS apps in general.
Adobe Reader for iOS does offer earlier compatible versions for iOS 5 and 6 via the App Store.  Because the supported iOS version for Adobe Reader for iOS is 5 or later.
Tech specs | Adobe Reader mobile app
However, I cannot speak for other apps, such as Costco app and NFL app that you have mentioned.  It is up to each individual app developer/company to decide whether to take advantage of Apple's App Store's features to offer earlier versions.
Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support
If a compatible version isn't available, you can try contacting the app developer. Look for contact information on the app's product page in the App Store or Mac App Store.

  • How do I transfers books from ADE to Sony Reader Library?

Got new Sony e reader and want to transfer books from my Adobe Digital Editions library and cant get my Adobe Library to recognize my Sony Reader.   Have been live chatting with Adobe and Sony to no avail all day yesterday.   Hope someone out there can help me.  valeff

You're trying something that's not going to work.  SONY's Reader Library is
independent - and not compatible with ADE's library, even though there may
be .epub files in both.  Sorry!

Is there a setting that needs to be set to allow the annotation features?  I set password protection to open and then password for editing and set it to Any except page extraction, but it still did not give the annotation option
