Sony Receiver Problems

Hello I bought a Sony Home Receiver on 12/30/10 and purchased a 2 year warranty. I just wanted to know if any other home theatre receiver owners know what is going on with my product. Basically no matter which hdmi port I use on the receiver there random specs that pop on my television screen, I would describe it sort of like the white snow you would see on a television with no channel signal. I have eliminated that the hdmi cables, and the television is not at fault so I know the problem is with the receiver itself.

Okay my receiver has 4 hdmi ports (TV connection, Xbox, PS3, Cable Boix) so in all there are 4 hdmi cords being used.
-The PS3 is hooked to the HDMI Port labeled BD
-The XBox is hooked up to the HDMI port  labeled DVD
-The cable is hooked up to the port labeled HDMI port labeled Sat/Cat
The first port that went out was the PS3 (port BD). My first solution was to take the HDMI end in the receiver and move it from the BD port to the DVD port (unhooking my Xbox hdmi cable). Turned on the PS3 and it worked fine out of that port. Eliminating that the HDMI cable or PS3 was the culprit.
Went on for a few days just switching my machines into the working HDMI inputs. Then the Sat/Cat port started having the same problem as the BD port, again switched it into the DVD input and it was fine. Even then tried another hdmi cord in the Sat/Cat hdmi input and their was still pixelation.
Finally another couple of days after that the DVD hdmi input went out and again did the same steps and got the same results.
So basically there have been several hdmi cables used and there is no way all 4 can be faulty, if so statistically unlikely. Also when the same cords are plugged directly into the television the picture is fine.
Hopefully the explanation was clear it is kind of hard to explain this stuff non-verbally. Thank you for responding.

  • IPOD to Sony Receiver to TV???

Does the IPOD have to be connected directly to a TV to work properly? I did that with one TV in my house through RCA input on the TV and it worked ok. Connected the IPOD to my video three input (RCA connection) on my Sony Stereo, which is connect to the TV via S-Video and all I got was sound (no picture). The TV was set to S-Video in and the receiver was set to Video Three. The S-Video connection from my Sony Reciever to the TV works fine, as my DVD works with the same hookup through Video One on my receiver. Any ideas of what the problem may be with this connection? Since the Sony Receiver is connected to the TV via an S-Video, do all the input components to the Sony Receiver have to have the same input (S-Video) to flow properly to the TV? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ok this is weird, I have a similar issue... My Yamaha receiver intermittently cuts out the ipods picture, but when I plug it into the tv directly, the picture is fine. I figured it was an ipod problem because I can replay the videos and it will black out in the exact same spot. We need to get to the bottom of this. If anyone has some knowledge of receivers please post!

  • Blue Flashing Screen When Connecting to Sony Receiver with HDMI Cable

I'm trying to avoid buying an AppleTV by simply using my MBP and the Rowmote Pro app for my iPad. I have a MiniDisplayPort to HDMI cable which works great connected to my 55" Sony HDTV but I would prefer to use my home theatre speakers (vice the HDTVs) by plugging the cable into my Sony Receiver and allowing that to route the video to my TV. The problem is that when I plug the cable into the receiver's #3 HDMI port and then switch the receiver's input to HDMI 3 the MBPs display repeatedly flashes blue as if trying to detect a display. I've tried resetting the PRAM with no success. I would like to avoid the TosLink option, keeping it simple with just the one cable.

You can get a video output from a Mac in the absence of a display. That's called running "headless" or sometimes "server mode." But the Mac will only offer about four choices of headless resolutions, and if there is a way to extend that number, I don't know how to do it.
An item like a receiver may or may not have its own EDID (display driver). Generally speaking the ideal would be that it would just do a pass-through of the EDID of whatever display it (the receiver) is connected to. But for sure inconsistencies arise as inputs get switched around on the receiver or TV, and also as the Mac goes into and comes out of sleep mode. These are all factors that can cause the Mac to end up a lost puppy.
The Detective prevents this from happening by providing a continuous EDID connection from the Mac's perspective. So even though input switching is taking place at the receiver (or TV), the Mac never sees it, and in that case it provides a consistent output.

  • Dv6t recognize sony receiver only as stereo instead of surround 5.1

    Hi,
I have the HP dv6t-2000 and I want to connact it with my home theater system.
I have a sony receiver - str-dh730 and when I try to connact the laptop to the receiver (HDMI) the laptop recognize the receiver only as stereo instead of surround (I have 5.1 speakers that working with all the other devices connacted to the receiver)
When I go to the "playback devices" and try to configure the receiver, the only option written is "stereo"
What should I do? (tried to replace cable and connacting throu other input buy nothing...)
    Thanks,
    Daniel

If that is the case Your laptop supports only stereo speakers not surround 5.1
    Hope this helps.

  • FTP receiver problem

    Hello,
I have read lots of threads for FTP receiver problems wiht overwriting files....
But I am not sure which is the correct solution.
    We have:
    - Cluster (6nodes), PI711  (SP03)
    - a time stamp shoudl be in the file name
    - there is dynamice filename, because first char of the filename must be set from mapping
    - each mesasge must be put in a single file (not APPEND mode)
After few test it seems that files are overwriten.
I tried ADD MESSAGEID, which seems to work correctly, but with dynamic filenametimestampmsgid the filename is to long for the next application.
I saw in a note, that the cluster can be the problem....
Any idea how I can solve my problem?
    Does "use temporaly filename" help?
    How is it used correctly????
    best reagrds
    Werner

    Hi Werner,
In Processing Parameters tab, keep the file construction mode as "Add timestamp" and in the Putfile use" Use Temporary file". This should help you...

  • ATV, 5.1 and a Sony Receiver......no blue light!?!

First and foremost, what a fun couple of days. What a great forum too! So many knowledgeable folks willing to share their know-how.
So, my question is this, anyone else out there with their aTV hooked-up to a Sony receiver that's not getting the blue-light on the main display to indicate true 5.1?
Maybe I'm worrying needlessly here as perhaps the audio signal will only be a true 5.1 when HD content is rented. Last night I watched a few of the HD Trailers and was kinda expecting to get the blue-light during those trailers. But nope, it did seem to be pretty decent sound quality, but it almost seemed like it was a "fake" 5.1. Dunno though. Also, I did have a couple issues of "buffering" while I was watching the trailers. The trailer would load completely with the blue bar filling completely and then during the play of the trailer it would suddenly stop and the bar would have to fill again. But it did fill much more quickly (say five seconds or so).
Also, under Audio Settings, I DO have the Dolby Digital Out set to ON. (I'm using component and optical(Toslink) cables for the hook-up. My preference is always HDMI but that's not possible here as I only have two HDMI inputs on my Panny plasma and I'm using them for my HD Cable box and Sony PS3.
The new UI for aTV is not baaaad, but could've been so much better. I actually think that the UI from the prior version was much more visually pleasing with those large, sharp, flying eye-catching graphics. I don't know if Sony would throw a hissy-fit or not, but the aTV should adopt a UI menu like that of the PS3 where the icons are stretched horizontally on the display with the user then being able to scroll up or down within that icon to access that sub-menu. IMHO, that would be much cleaner and more visually pleasing.
And on a sidenote and for clarification, one does not need AirTunes to be able to control their aTV from iTunes on their PC. I was under the impression that I wouldn't have the option to do this as I don't have AirTunes or Airport Extreme. I was VERY happy to see the COMPUTER button on the bottom right part of my iTunes giving me that control. I now won't have to change the input on my HD display to access the UI(thusly disrupting whoever's watching a program pm the TV) to change tunes. (I might've misunderstood some of the recent posts on this though. Maybe what was actually being inferred was that an aTV only need to be AirTunes "capable" to do this.)
    Geez Phil, ramble much? lol
    Carry on.

    Maggot wrote:
    Hi Drum_Phil,
I'm not near my ATV right now, but I checked out Superbad on the iTunes page, and it doesn't mention anything about 5.1. (Many of the HD movies have 5.1; some don't.)
Does it say that it's in 5.1 on the ATV rental page? If not, even though it is in HD, it may just be in stereo.
    Hi Maggot.
Thanks for checking that for me. According to iTunes +through my aTV+, Superbad is not only in HD, but also in DD (with the official DD logo).
Another forum poster (RichSolNuv) has confirmed that this movie did indeed support true 5.1 when he watched it with his Sony receiver. So it's probably just a matter of dialing in the settings on it and/or my aTV.
Thanks for the props on my handle. I love lexical ambiguity.

  • Thoughts on bookshelf speakers to sony receiver

I'm looking to purchase a receiver and speaker setup for our LCD TV.  I'm not looking at spending too much money, but want to leave some room for future upgrades.  From what I've read the Sony STR-DG720 is a 7.1 channel system with all the features I'm looking for.  My living room is long and narrow so I don't need a huge surround sound speaker setup.  I was thinking of purchasing the Bose 201 Series V Bookshelf Speakers. Would these work properly with the type of receiver I'm looking at buying?  Any thoughts on this is appreciated.

    Welcome to the forums, shag.
The Bose speakers you are considering will work fine with that Sony receiver. It's always a good idea to audition the receiver speaker combination in the store with your favorite CD.
You should check out the Polk and Klipsch speakers that are available at most Best Buy stores.

  • Nokia 112 Signal Receiver Problem

I am Using Nokia 112 (New Mobile). So many time tower is getting hide..And automatically tower is coming. In main cities also this problem is coming.I have cleaned my sim then inserted. But till that problem is coming.Actually Nokia 112 Having this type of Signal Receiver Problem? For new mobile i want to service?

You may try another SIM (borrow from your friends / family members) . Preferably you may try SIMs from different operators. This will tell you whether its the problem with your Phone, your Operator or your particular SIM. If all SIMs give same result, it may be an issue with the phone..If other Operators SIM work fine but the other SIM from the same Operator as yours do not then its Network issue. If all othe SIMs work then get your SIM repalced ..

Hi Ben! If I consider that media from Nokia/Sony Ericsson is not supported by BlackBerry then how come that same content becomes viewable when I click forward button? I do believe that RIM continuously improving things for its customers. I'm using the updated software release for my carrier but issue still remains! To my understanding this problem lies in compatibility.

  • Sony HC39E - problem connecting

    Wondering if anyone can help...?
According to the compatible list my handycam isn't compatible with a Mac. However, I received feedback from another user confirming that this model Sony will infact download footage to a Mac with a firewire cable...
I'm new to Macs and Apple in general, so finding this simple requirement quite a challenge especially since just finding out that posts get removed from file... so can't track back to that person who gave me advise.
Anyway, I now have a firewire cable which I bought on ebay. This plugs into the DV out port on the camera dock and obviously in firewire on the Mac. The Mac still doesn't register anything... So I'm a bit lost now and in need of some help as I don't know if there's something wrong with the cable... Apple support were of limited help before due to the model not being on their list.
Hoping someone out there can help...
    Look forward to hearing back...
    Many thanks
    Kirsten

Kirsten, sorry to see that you havent resolve with connecting your camera to your computer.
The iLink cable is a firewire cable. Thats correct.
ANyway, this may be or may not be hardware problem. There is a thread on camera recognition problems due to Quicktime 7.
Bob Sidebotham, "Solution to camera recognition problems after upgrades.", 07:11pm Jun 15, 2005 CDT
But first you have to find out if your firewire cable is the culprit. Do you have another firewire cable to test?
I had exactly this same problem with camera recognition on both my Powerbook and my G5 desktop. & I thought it was my cable too.
I just had to delete my Quicktime reciepts and then re-install Quicktime.
    Heres how,
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301852
I also strongly suggest that you get the latest updates of FCP 5.0.3 and the latest Quicktime 7.0.3. and even Tiger 10.4.3
    Hope this helps...
    Hang in there...:)

I deleted my mail account and resigned in again 5 times, but the problem still occurs.
If I receive 50 mail in a day, some 4-5 of them come again and again even if i have deleted from my phone.
But for example if i check my mailbox from different device i dont receive my deleted mails.
Only Z2 bringing them again and again.
I hope i managed to explain my problem.
    It bothers me so much.
I asked our IT Department guys and they checked our system but couldnt find a solution.
They said that i should wait for update from Sony.

  • Exchange 2013 - Mail receive problem -Help!

Exchange 2013 SP1 -fresh install -test environment with one test mailbox setup in addition to the Administrator account. Using default Receive Connectors and it is set for Anonymous. Using OWA and Outlook 2010 for testing.
We can send/receive mail INTERNALLY in both Outlook & OWA between our test user and the Administrator user.
We can send mail externally from both accounts.
We are not receiving mail into the Inbox of either OWA or Outlook.
We are not seeing any authentication issues with Outlook -always shows connected to Exchange. But if we have same problem in OWA then we are just testing with it for now.
We ran the Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer for both Inbound and Outbound SMTP and it passed with no errors/warnings L
We did NSLOOKUP, from a Command prompt at the server wtith this result -not sure why it shows server as unknown?:

Thank you for replying. Yes the mailbox is at Time Warner and I can use their webmail interface and see the messages I sent to the test user are there.
No, our domain name is companyname.com  (if you need the actual name..I am not sure if I should send it to you?) and we use
    [email protected] for email.
Our external A records and MX records are at Network solutions and that is posted here-- but decided to start another thread with more concise information as I learned of it:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/0b18e928-0207-4ab9-bc12-c00a75088bdc/new-deployment-outlook-can-send-but-not-receiving-messages?forum=exchangesvrsecuremessaging
When I do NSLOOKUP of our domain I get just the two MX records at Time Warner. Not anything with our actual domain name for email in it. I just added the A records for mail.companyname.com and autodiscover at Network Solutions yesterday...but though those
were only for use externally for OWA, ActiveSync, etc
Note we do not use Split-DNS on our internal domain either. Our AD name is different than our public domain name - The AD is named with a subdomain: qs.companyname.com
Lastly, I did not create an MX record at network solutions for mail.domainname.com. Should I do that and set it to a higher priority?

  • SOAP receiver problems

    Hi Folks,
I am sending data to the webservice using SOAP receiver. In the runtime workbench I can see the message as successfull, but the end user is claiming that , he didn't get the data from XI.
What could be the possible reason for this?
    Where might the message lost?
And for one message which is using SOAP receiver as communication channel , In the audit log I can see the steps as below:
SOAP: request message entering the adapter with user J2EE_GUEST
    SOAP: completed the processing
    SOAP: continuing to response message
    SOAP: sending a delivery ack
    SOAP: sent a delivery ack
The message was successfully delivered to the application using connection SOAP_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System.
    MP: Leaving module processor
The message status set to DLVD.
For other message I can see the log as :
SOAP: request message entering the adapter with user J2EE_GUEST
    SOAP: completed the processing
    SOAP: continuing to response message
SOAP: sending a delivery ack ...
    SOAP: sent a delivery ack
    MP: Leaving module processor
The message was successfully delivered to the application using connection SOAP_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System.
The message status set to DLVD.
Both are using same communication channel. still u can see the difference in the steps that are exicuted (check leaving module processer line in both).
Is it mandatory that the series of steps should be same for all the messages?
I have 2 queries, please answer both......
    Thanks SPMD

    HI
As a first test , import the wsdl shared by third party  in soap uI/MS infopath/xml spy , fill in the test data (preferably same which you are trying to post now) and do a test :- doing this you will get to know if there is any problem in the WS iteslf. if you get http 200 ok then posting happened and ask the third party to check if they got any request.
If you have sync soap then you will be getting the desired response back to soap ui .
Also check if you need to put soap action also check the content type if its text/xml or app/xml  some WS dont accept App/xml u may need to use message transformation bean in modules tab.
if there is any connectivity at ntwrk level then please try  if you can trouble shoot using this blog

  • SOAP Receiver problem

    Hi everyone.
I'm facing a new problem with SOAP Receiver adapter.
We have an WSDL that works perfectly using SOAP Clients such as SOAPUI or StylusStudio. End-point is HTTPS://XXXXX:XXX/XXXXX
    WSDL is like this :
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
    <!--  Call Adapter
      -->
    <tes:registraEntrada0Request xmlns:tes="http://testing.com" xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
      <asu_id>SIO7</asu_id>
      <asu_descripcion>desc</asu_descripcion>
      <uo_id>1272</uo_id>
      <nombre>nombre</nombre>
      <ape1>ape1</ape1>
      <ape2>ape2</ape2>
      <usu_id>virtualdesa</usu_id>
      <usu_pass>virtualdesa</usu_pass>
    </tes:registraEntrada0Request>
Problem is when i try to use this webservice from XI using a SOAP Receiver communication channel. I get a strange error :
soap fault: No Deserializer found to deserialize a ':asu_id' using encoding style 'null'. [java.lang.IllegalArgumentException]
I don't know if the problem is because HTTPS. All the process has been defined correctly in XI and my doubt is about the configuration of the RECEIVER SOAP or the WSDL structure.
    Hope you can help me

    Inigo.

  • IDOC Receiver problem with 7.11 and ECC6

    Hello,
we have a IDOC_2_IDOC scenario on old XI system which worked fine.
We are moving now to PI7.11 and get the problem, that all IDOCs in the receiving ECC6 system
go to status 51 "No status record was passed to ALE by the application"
It seems to be a problem of processing of too many IDOCs at the same time,
because if there is enought ime between the IDOCs the the procsing in ECC6 works.
Only if too many IDOCs are sent from PI to ECC6 then I get this error.
I have checked aRFC and tRFC options in SM59 but there is no difference.
IDOC packing is not activated on sending system and on PI.
At the moment the scenario should work as is worked on 7.0......
Any ideas which setting is different or where to look?
    best regards
    Werner

    Hello,
which ALE settings do you mean???
    on PI or receiving ECC6
    PI:
here we only use SM59, IDX1, IDX2.... for IDOC adapter
ECC6: only partner profile INBOUND PARAMETER
On the sending R/3 system I can not change something.....and there was no change.
    best regards
    Werner
