Sony S Log import

Hey friends,
Any one out there worked with an "S Log" captured image using Sony F3?
Is there any way to get the log footage imported into Final Cut Pro X, like we do with Red footage?
In the case of Red we can either use Final Cut Pro X builtin modify red raw settings or we can use red cine X pro.
Is there a software for sony like this?
Thanks in Advance
Sreekumar

  • Sony HDD Camera Import

Ok. i'm editing a video for the student ministry at church, and they did all the shooting. thats great for me because it saves me time. PROBLEM=they shot it on a Sony DCR-SR40, which is an HDD camera. I dont have the software that sony has to import the files onto my macbook pro. FCP isn't recognizing it as a device, because it's MPEG2 I think (so i'm told). This thing is due this sunday (hooray youth ministry and they're ample heads up...) so I need to know what I can do to go in and get the video off of this and make it compatible with FCP. I'm using Final Cut Pro 5.1.4. I can go in on finder and find the video files, but there's no audio with it. HELP

You really don't want to run FCS 2 on a MacBook. It's not supported actually by Apple for this... too many limitations involved I think too. No FW port and more...

  • Sony F2 files import

I am trying to import files shot on a Sony F3 camera into FCP X. After import I only get a green box in the clip bin. What am i doing wrong?

hey tom. i meant to say Sony F3 files. sorry. I have since downloaded Sony's transcoding software and trying it that way.
BUT I originally important files that were transcoded for FCP 7. They play great in Quicktime but when i brought them into FCP X they have a color shift and strobing.
Am i doing the right thing using Sony software to import? seems like FCP X would be able to play the FCP 7 version or just import them directly.
    thanks

  • Sony sr-11 import troubles of avchd files

    Hi there,
i tried to import avchd files from the sony sr-11.
At the beginning everthing looks fine, fcp recognizes the cam and the log and transfer dialog appears. I can select the files but when i open them in the browser they are corrupt, i see only the upper lets say 10%, the rest is grey.
I was wondering if u have to set some special setting for the projekt?
Can somebody tell me if there are some setting requirements to make the import of avchd files work properly?
    thanks a lot!

thank you for the quick response, i know imovie handles it.
I would like to stay in fcp pro to handle all my movies because:
    a) it should work, and i would like to understand where the problem is
    b) i don't want to jump around between the applications. FCS2 is perfect for all the rest...

  • Sony HDR-FX7 import problem

I just got a new Sony HDR-FX7 and when I tyy to import it tells me there is no camera attached. I have been on the phone with Sony for over two hours and they have no idea. I have tried in FCP and imovie with no luck in either program. Everything works fine with my other cameras and other devices. Anybody have this problem or any suggestions on what to do.
    Thanks

    Hey Photos341,
I am having problems with FX7. I got it a few days ago and I can't capture footage from the tape. I'm able to see the tape BUT I can't capture in HD. Here is my thread, I have not received any solid advice from anyone as to how to solve this. I was at the apple store today and was told that sony was not quite compatable with FCP, but there is a work around and some sort of plug-in is required to get it going.

  • Sony HDR-HC1 import fix

I have a G5 tower (dual 2ghz) and had difficulty importing to iMovie 6 from my Sony HDR-HC1. Like many folks have identified in other posts, I could get iMovie to recogognize the camera and operate the transport but could not import any video or audio (click on import button and still got the same blue screen with no video/audio imported). I tried the G5 front firewire connector and the back firewire connectors... same thing. I tried connecting to a hub connected to the back firewire connector... no luck, same thing. I solved the problem by connecting via an external firewire drive (other folks have also identified this as a fix, but it's deep in the post). The drive is connected directly to a back firewire connector. I then connected the camera to the other FW port on the drive, turned on the drive, and everything worked just fine. No problem importing. I spent hours working on this and can't believe this is the fix...... but it works everytime. If Apple is watching this board, there has to be some FW glitch in the tower G5's. I hope this post can save someone some time. Th FW external drive enclosure I am using is just a "metal gear box" from Meritline. I suspect this will also help out HDR-HC3 camera users also.

Thanks ..and welcome to iMovie Discussions.
This may not work for Canon camcorders - which like to have the FireWire circuit to themselves, and dislike having a FireWire drive connected - but it works with my HC-1.

  • Question About Using iPhoto With Sony Wireless Auto Import

I just bought a Sony DSC-RX100M2 and I'm very excited about the prospect of sending my photos wirelessly to my Retina MacBook Pro OSX 10.9.1.
I use iPhoto but I just know the basics.
I just imported 2 test pictures.
I can find them in Finder: My Home folder has a folder called Pictures.  Sony placed a folder there called 2-14-14 (i.e. today's date), and the two pictures were in that folder.
I opened iPhoto and imported those pictures into my photo library.  Great.
Now the question.  Once these pictures have been imported into my photo library, can I delete the 2-14-14 folder (and its contents) created by the Sony import?  It seems that I can, and the pictures are still in my photo library.  But if that is the case, where are the pictures?
Mind you, I don't really need to "know" where the files are.  I just need to be assured that after I import a photo into the photo library, I can delete the original folder where the import came in from my camera (which I think I've just proven to myself that I can?).
I'm sorry, this is probably basic stuff for most iphoto users, but I just want to make sure that I do not accidentally trash any photos.
    Thanks

As you said - in your iPhoto library
see the user tip on accessing your iPhoto files for details on accessing them

  • Sony rx raw import in Aperture 3.4.5???

    Hi,
I just purchased Aperture 3.4.5. hoping that it would be able to import my ARW file for my RX100M2. This doesn't seem to work. Pulling a picture into the Aperture window just brings an unsupported file format even though it says it should support in Apple's support pages.
Is there any solution to this?
    Thanks

Run "➞Software Update".  You need the most recent version of Apple RAW Compatibility Update (4.08) in order to convert Sony RX100 II files.  For Apple computers, the RAW converter is part of the OS, not part of the apps.
NB: many users of Nikon cameras have reported problems with this newest update, as have users of the original RX cameras.  If you have files created with any of those, read some of the recent threads before upgrading.
Imho, using Aperture's import dialog is a much more useful method of importing files into a Library.  "Aperture➞Import ... "

  • Sony EX1 files - import ok in CS4 but not CS3 - why?

    hi all
I've hired a Sony EX1 for the weekend, and CS3 (version 3.2 with EX support) will not import the video files - it gives an error message and teh files are nowhere to be seen.
I have looked online in various places and the general consensus seems to be that if you import the entire folder and then, although you still get the "unsupported or damaged file" error message, the files should show up ok.
    They don't. Not in CS3.
In CS4, the import works fine (although I still ghet the error message). The problem is, I find CS4 totally unstable, and unless massively successful patches are introduced, I will never work with it again (it cost me hundreds, maybe thousands of pounds n written-off editing time the only time I used it, because of constant crashes both on my laptop and my Dell system, and it still crashes regularly on the rare occasions I use it). I much prefer to work in CS3 which I found comparatively stable.
How come CS3 can't import the EX1 files, when everywhere I am look on the internet tells me it can?
Would be grateful to hear from anyone else who's had this problem .
    thks a lot

Be sure you use the Sony XDCam EX Clip Browser software to import the footage, as opposed to drag & drop the folders/clips.
Theoretically, you should be able to just D&D the BPAV folder, but there have been reports of wierd problems doing it that way.
I've used the EX with CS3 a lot, with no problems, but I always import with the Sony software..
RE CS4- what OS and how much RAM do you have? 32 bit/3-4GB is touch & go for CS4 HD editing; 64 bit/ 12-16GB is magic.
    Good luck

  • Sony Digital Camera Import

How can I import digital movies from my Sony Handycam DCR-SR68?
    iPhoto will not recognize them.

    Greetings Dave,
How can I import digital movies from my Sony Handycam DCR-SR68?
iPhoto is an image management program. It's primary function is to import, store, and organize still images. While it does import movies from digital still cameras, it is not designed to import movie footage from a video camera (Two different types of devices. Still cameras and movie cameras). That is what iMovie is for.
Your Sony Handycam DCR-SR68 is on the supported camera list for iMovie so you should be able to import your footage into iMovie: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3290
Once the footage is off the camera and in iMovie, you can then export it out of iMovie and put it back in iPhoto (although I'm unclear why you would want to store movie footage in iPhoto. Of the two programs, iMovie is the best place to keep large amounts of movie data.)
    iPhoto will not recognize them.
Your camera records it's movie files in MPEG2 format. This format is not natively compatible with iPhoto as it is not usable by Quicktime (Which is what drives movie compatibility to some extent in iPhoto.) without additional software. The Quicktime manual lists the compatible formats: http://images.apple.com/quicktime/pdf/QuickTime7UserGuide.pdf (Page 9).
iMovie has a built in convertor that will convert those MPEG2 files into a usable format when you import directly from the camera into iMovie.
    Hope that information helps.

  • Sony DCR-HC37E Import Problems

I'm trying to import an hours' worth of footage from my Sony DCR-HC27E into iMovie 6.0.3. However, when I try to import iMovie will only capture 2:02 minute clips meaning I can't leave it to import.
The only reason I can think of why this is happening is that I'm importing all files to an 80GB USB1.1 external which can't be written to at the same speed as the video which is coming in from Firewire.
I'm having exactly the same issue with FCE3.5 HD too.
    Any help?

  • Sony DCR-HC96 import problems

I'm having problem trying to import my movies to iMovie 08 from my Sony DCR-HC96.
I connect the camcorder to its dock, connect the power cable and the Firewire cable (i-link), switch on and fired up iMovie 08. I press the import button but it just tells me that no camera is connected.
I have replaced the Firewire cable but it still does not help.
Can anyone suggest any further action?
Interestingly it has become harder and harder to import my movies from the camcorder and at one point I had to hold the cable in a certain way to get an import option - which leads me to beleive that the dock is at fault...but at £70 for a replacement from Honk Kong I think I'd be better off buying a new camcorder!
Any suggestions what maybe wrong/new camcorder that will work with a Mac!
