Sony s tablet

how do I disable the green light above the power button on the sony s tablet. This light will blink when the tablet is on the cradle or just idle.

Any of the following events can cause the LED light to blink:
Calendar: A scheduled time or date has been reached.
Desk Clock: A scheduled alarm time has been reached. (This will be accompanied by an alarm sound)
Email: A new email is received.
Social Feed Reader: A new post has been made.
Gmail: A new email is received.
Talk (Google Talk): A new message is received.
To prevent the notification LED light from blinking completely, set the Background process limits to No background processes.

  • Sony S Tablet not found in Flash Builder 4.6

    Hi,
i tried to debug an AIR app on a new Sony S Tablet, but the latest Flash Builder 4.6 didnt see the device.
I setup the device in USB debugging mode and iam using an OSX OS with Lion 10.7.
    Anyone has an idea?

    http://onlinelib.de

    DONE!!!
OK. I followed the instructions on this page:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flex/mobileapps/WSa8161994b114d624-33657d5912b7ab2d73b-7fdf.ht ml#WSa8161994b114d624-33657d5912b7ab2d73b-7fdc
    Especially this part:
Important: If Windows is still unable to recognize your device, you need to install the appropriate USB driver from your device manufacturer. See OEM USB drivers for links to the websites of several device manufacturers from where you can download the appropriate USB driver for your device.
    Which took me to:
    http://developer.android.com/tools/extras/oem-usb.html
    That means that:
You have to install the USB driver for connecting the tablet. As Sony didn't release it, you have to use the generic Android USB driver. Follow the instructions to do so, then restart the computer, and voilà.
    Hope that helps

  • My Experience with Sony Xperia Tablet S (so far)

For the Sony Xperia Tablet S, the bootloader is still locked, so getting an official install of Android is still impossible.  I've decided to root it and clean it up as much as possible.  At this point, It's either that or take it skeet shooting.
After rooting the tablet, I have managed to clean some of the junkware up manually.  It's not the solution to the problem (only Sony or a judge can right their wrong), but getting rid of this junk seemed to help to some extent.  Here is a list of all the apks that I manually deleted (season to taste).
Obvious disclaimer, here:  If you brick your device, it's your fault and not mine.  One thing that you COULD do though, is encourage Sony to up their morals and do the right thing by giving us the capability of unlocking our bootloaders.  Selling people locked down hardware without the ability to unlock it is like selling someone a house and then telling them after the fact that they cannot clean the junk out of it, or modify it, or paint it, or fix the plumming, or replace the carpet, or even use the front door...  I think you get the idea.  It's a morally corrupt thing to do, IMO, and I think that Sony should be ashamed of themselves for locking us out of our own property.
I'm not nearly finished cleaning the tablet up yet (I'm going to take a break and get some reading in, but will focus on the system files next).  At a minimum, this list can serve as a big chunk of useless fat that people can lipo out of their tablets if they so desire.

There are probably a few files that I removed and did not mention, but there won't be many.  I didin't actually start keeping a log of the removals until later in the game, although I recorded as much as I could from my terminal buffer to make the list as complete as possible.
Obviously, if you're going to delete files, I strongly suggest that you keep a log AND make sure you have multiple types of backups (and backups to those backups).  I actually had to rely on my backups on multiple occasions while coming up with this list.  Again (as in "service not rendered"), we need our bootloaders unlocked so we can actually own the hardware that we have purchased.
    Launcher and keyboard:
    ======================
The launcher and keyboard that come with the Xperia Tab S ******.  On my system, I have replaced them both with the Nova Launcher and the Hacker's Keyboard, resulting in much (much, Much) better functionality and useability! And once those defaults were set, I removed the launcher and keyboard that came with the tablet as well.
    Boot Animation:
    ===============
As far as the boot animation is concerned, that's easily changed as well.  Nothing new here (Google it):
      # find -type f -name bootanimation.zip -exec ls {} \; -exec ls -la {} \;
      ./system/media/bootanimation.zip
      -rw-r--r-- root     root       242855 2013-05-19 02:44 bootanimation.zip
Something I need to figure out for my next steps:
    =================================================
Can I simply build a stock Android system, take stock apks from that build and put it on the Xperia (replace) without any issues?
Can I swap them out whole-sale, or are there any caveats in regards to how far can I go with that?
Any advice of how to further improve this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

These are the issues as I see it:
    The Software:
Initially, when I complained about not being able to remove unwanted software, this is what I got:
     *  "You can disable it in the settings and you won't see the icons."
     *  "You can root the device and remove the unwanted software, but if you do, then we won't honor the warranty"
We'll look at the logic of these, but first, let's inject a simple analogy -- something I think most people will be able to relate to with ease.  Let's say that I buy a house, and I like the house a lot, but there is a toilet in the middle of the living room (I like social stuff that much ).  So after I purchase the house, I find out that I cannot remove the toilet in the living room because I don't have the "special tools" to do it.  In addition, this toilet has a bit of a valve problem, and it runs constantly.
The first supposed solution was "You can disable it in the settings and you won't see the icons."  That's like saying "throw a sheet over it."  In this case, disabling it doesn't even mean turning off the water.  There's still pipework being used, because cache supporting those apps still keep coming back.  So the toilet keeps running, and it gets to the point that it annoys the ****** out of me.  Throwing a sheet over the toilet does not fix the problem, nor does it remove the offense from my living room.  Not only is this NOT a solution, it's a horrible idea!
The second supposed solution was "You can root the device and remove the offending software, but if you do, then we won't honor the warranty."  I'm not big on warranties, and over the years I've discovered that most companies give me so much hassle and additional cost over getting something replaced or repaired, that I'm better off getting another product (usually from another vendor).  I personally wouldn't expect Sony to be any different in that regard.  That said, I don't care about warranties.  Furthermore I don't expect Sony to truly honor a warranty any more than I would expect a previous owner of my house to fix my leaking roof.
In my house, I don't want toilets in my living room.  I realize that there may be a lot of people out there who might find this to be of great use and value, but for me, it is offensive just knowing that it is there.  More offensive to me, is that I'm told I can not (or even "should not") remove it.  But even worse is, "throw a sheet over it."  To me, that's right up there with "We don't care so shut up."
So, left with no other choice, I rooted the tablet and took the (most obvious) toilets out of the places where I felt that they did not belong.  I don't expect help or tech support from Sony, either and if "throw a sheet over it" is any indication of the help that I might get, then trust me when I say that I don't WANT any help from them.
But that's not even the crux of my frustrations with this whole thing.  It's just a side-show.
    The Hardware:
Lets get something straight - When I buy a piece of property (whether it be a computer, a motor vehicle or a house), I expect to be able to enter that property in any way that suits me (and the way by which entry was intended is no exception by anyone's reasonable expectation).  Furthermore, if that piece of property has the ability to be locked, I fully expect to have the relevant keys, so that I might lock and unlock it on my own and at my own discretion.
With this tablet that I have bought, and therefore I own, I expect to be able to use the front door (the boot loader).  It is my property, I hold the bill of sale (the "deed"), and I cannot see how Sony has any moral, ethical, or legal standing to withhold those keys from me, thereby preventing me from entering my own property in a forthright manner.
So far, I've read the following excuses on this forum:
"We do it for your security"
As in "Sony is my savior?"  Hmm.  Does this mean that if a Sony customer has an unrooted and locked-by-Sony Xperia Tablet S that gets hacked, and their bank account goes dry and their identity is stolen as a result, that Sony will take the responsibility for it, reimburse that customer, and pay any costs to get that persons identity cleared?  Of course not.  The term "Responsibility" is a two-edged sword, and it cuts both ways.  As such, this excuse of taking responsibility of my security reads more like this: "For your security, we will control your house, but if you get compromised, you're stuck holding the bag, because we're not responsible."  If that doesn't defy logic, then I don't know what does!  This isn't an excuse for security.  Instead, it's a lame excuse for control, which provides no safety net.  I personally don't want someone who will not be responsible, taking on the role of being responsible for my security.  I would much rather be responsible for my own security, thank you very much.
CAVEAT:  I do understand that there are people out there who have no concept of security whatsoever and who do really dumb things, so the use of a snake-oil security solution can be beneficial (perhaps to the extent that it will "keep the honest people honest"), but my point is that it's still snake-oil, and it's benefits are far too limited for my taste.
So no, I don't want Sony's snake-oil security solution.  I want what is rightfully mine.  I want to hold the keys to the device that I have purchased.  I want the ability to lock and unlock my own front door at my own discretion, and if possible I want to change the key set so that once I take control of my own device, Sony can't unlock that door while I'm not home.  (there's an interesting idea, eh? ).
The other reason I've now heard is that "We do it to protect our proprietary software"
I would love to have a link or a scan of any document from Sony that actually states this.
If that is truly their position, then my response would then be, "Does this mean you do it so that I can't get rid of those toilets in my living room?  I won't want them in my living room, I don't want them in my bedroom, I don't want them in my kitchen, on my front porch, or in my den.  I don't want your software in my house, and being that this is MY house (as in "I hold the deed"), I'm ordering you not only to get the ****** out, but give me MY keys to MY front door!  This house is under renovation!
    On getting a refund:
If getting a refund is what Zero wanted, then congratulations to him.  If a refund is what you want, then good luck.  Do you think Sony will reimburse you for the time you've wasted with it as well?  Just a thought.
I'm personally not interested in a refund.  I simply want what is rightfully mine.
In fact, if this doesn't get resolved (or the tablet bricks in the process) maybe I'll take it skeet shooting and upload the video.  It will at least be entertaining, and the upside to it would be that it couldn't be refurbished and imposed on yet another vict...  er...  I mean customer.
    Final thoughts:
In the end, if Sony will not honor their sales by actually relinquishing the ownership of the hardware that they sell to the person holding the bill of sale, then at the very LEAST, they should start placing on their products warnings labels for future potential customers, enabling them to understand what they are actually buying, and what they are actually NOT buying -- Some type of "Brooklyn-Bridge" or "Bully" Buyer-beware warning should suffice, I think.  If they do not do this, then I can definitely foresee customers being forced to go before a judge in order to actually take ownership of the property that they have purchased -- and that CAN'T be good for business.  (Just sayin')

  • Downgrading a Sony Z3 Tablet Compact tablet SGP612 from lollipop to kitkat for remote play

Hi,I was hoping someone would be able to help me downgrade my Sony Z3 Tablet Compact tablet SGP612 lollipop 5.1.1 to kitkat 4.4.4? It is a UK model. I bought this tablet solely for remote play streaming from the PS4. The streaming worked ok when I first got the tablet but was close to perfect when the 60fps PS4 firmware came out. Then lollipop came out and unfortuantely there has been massive lag with remote play on my tablet since, this includes the latest 5.1.1 lollipop update. I can confirm that I have done a fresh install of 5.1.1 from the PC companion app but there is still noticeable lag in remote play. I also have a decent Asus RT-AC66u router running Merlins firmware and the tablet is connected via 5ghz.
So on 03/08 I decided I've had enough and followed the guide to downgrade to Kitkat at http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/03/17/guide-to-installing-xperia-lollipop-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool/ but the problem is the kitkat 4.4.4 firmware is no longer in the Xperifirm list of firmwares there are only 2 versions listed which are both lollipop, can someone please advise where I can get the appropriate kitkat firmware? I am not rooted and don't want to be as I would like to keep my DRM keys etc. Thank you for all of your help. Matt

Thommo, Thank you for your quick response and your help. I don't suppose anyone could possibly help with a UK version of the firmware? I am unsure what filename the UK version would be so unfortunately I'm unable to search the web for this.

  • Mail client settings for Sony Z2 tablet

Tried to use standard mail client. However incoming mails are ok and are being downloaded. As for outgoing mails...here there is no synchronization with other devices, if You send mail there, it will appear in outgoing folder, if some message is sent from other device, it doesn't appear in this standard client application. The problem is only with the outgoing folder. How to fix?
    Thanks

    Hi pilotbroth,
Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
Are you running a POP3 account? as POP3 only really shows a copy of what is in the inbox, outgoing would only show if say you used Exchange or IMAP4 based accounts.

I am currently using my Sony S table with the latest Android 3.2 update flawlessly!

I already tried to get it on the Android Market Without Any success...
    Best Reagards,

    Hello Dr. Rodriguez,
Welcome to the User Discussion Forums
We Thank you both for your feedback.

  • Sony Tablet opens Phone version

I am setting up my website in a Tablet and a Phone version now.
When accessing the test version of my site on Business Catalyst with my Sony Tablet (SGPT11), automatically the Phone version of my website is opened, not the Tablet version as one would expect. This is true for all the three browers I have on this Tablet.
Can anyone tell what is wrong here? Where is the error situated? Is there something wrong in the code from Muse? Or could there some settings in my Sony Tablet to be changed (I have; howeve, never changed the default settings)?

    Hi,
I have the very same issue; I have built the desktop site and started to build my tablet and phone versions but before getting to head long into I decided to test it to see if it works.
Desktop - Loads the Desktop version
Tablet - Loads the phone version (Sony Xperia S Tablet (SGPT11))
Phone - Loads the phone version
At first I thought it might be to do with the screen resolution of the Sony Xperia Tablet being its a 9.4" and none standard, so I changed the size of the page a number of different ways to bring it inline with device resolution, but nothing seemed to work - it would always load the phone version - however I can edit the address from /phone/index to /tablet/index and it will display the right version. Has me wondering if it's something to do with BC profiling for devices maybe?
I am at a complete loss and as it the only tablet I have for testing it would be great if I can work out what is going on as it would be handy to use it with clients!

Any help would be gratefully received as new to Muse after spending much of my life using Dreamweaver and so far I am very at impressed as its massively reduced the time it takes to create a professional looking site.
    Regards

  • SONY XPERIA Z2 Tablet repair

I've got a Sony xperia tablet from telstra, which I've broken the screen after dropping it. Can you get these repaired through telstra and how much cheers john

    Hi Bulldogs5461,
This is a good place to start:
     https://www.telstra.com.au/my-account/account-services/mobile-faults
If you need to exchange or replace your device, or require technical support, log into the StayConnected portal from My Account (Telstra.com/myaccount) and select ‘Start a new request’ from the Service Request tab at any time.
    Good luck with it.

  • A bone to pick with SONY products

First off, I have been looking for a place to voice my opinion, this is the only official SONY place I can find. Being a Sony product buyer I feel the need to ask questions and ponder what Sony does wrong and how they can correct things across the board with many of the principal products on the market such as the Play Station 3, Vaio, and Vita, and the soon to be released S1 and S2 tablets.
I own many Sony products from stereo equipment, the play station, cameras, even had a Vaio at one point. All good products and all decent performance wise. What is getting me upset at this moment is how Sony decides what games are available for specific devices.
Example 1: Sony has many PS3 exclusives that could easily be even better graphically on a PC such as Kill Zone 3. Since they don't even attempt to make PC games, that would help raise the awareness of the Sony Vaio laptop, it makes me wonder why? Can't they release certain titles from the PS3 maybe a year later or more once they are no longer the hot gaming item they once were? I would love to play Kill Zone in glorious graphical detail, I have even read as much from the creators of the game which was created on PC, that the game is leaps and bounds BETTER on a PC.
Example 2: Sony is releasing the VITA hand held gaming device almost at the same time as the S1 and S2 tablets. This is the true area I wish to focus on, product marketing, decisions etc. First off, the excitement of the exclusive titles the VITA will have will certainly make gamers flock to get one, but, the catch is that for a portable device it only has close to 3 hours of battery life? Terrible. So the S1 and S2 tablets are coming out, with the stamp of approval of Play Station games, but so far what I have seen are games from PS1 which is a major leap backwards for gaming from Sony. So the VITA is going to be a marvel of graphical wonder while a device, which in theory should be even more powerful, like the S1 tablet is going to be offering content a decade back in terms of technology?
This part of the equation I can't seem to wrap my head around. What the S1 should have been was a major competitor to the Apple iPad and from what I have read in terms of specs and offerings, it is not much better than a Samsung Galaxy tab. Very disappointed that Sony has put out such an underwhelming product. It is still almost too early to be talking about the S1 and S2 as failures, but in terms of marketing, and telling its customers what it actually is and has available I am very very disappointed. If any company on this planet could have made Apple look bad it was Sony and they failed. The Sony S1 tablet should have been rivaling the graphic power of the VITA, it also should have wireless PS3 controller technology, it should already have exclusive games being offered JUST LIKE THE VITA. Instead we are seeing what looks like a product pushed out the gate too early, with specs that do not beat any other tablet on the market, it is simply... there.
As a result of these examples I have given, I will not be buying any Sony Vaio's and I also will be passing on the S1 and S2 tablets in order to buy an Apple iPad 2. As for the VITA, I will also be passing on it for the short battery life, because long airplane rides are going to burn out battery life quickly on this device. It appears I will stick with my PS3 as it is the best gaming CONSOLE out, but not the best gaming platform, which is still being held by the PC which SONY refuses to improve upon.
The over all direction of SONY seems far too uncoordinated, all over the place, and not stream line. This is one of the things APPLE does so well, they make specific product with top notch quality, and they do it well. Sony is usually late to the game in certain areas of technology, but usually they offer something new and improved upon, so far the latest SONY gadgets seem like they are just good enough for a passing grade, but nothing to really be excited about.
