Sony Subwoofer cable question

I have a Sony STR-DH500 Home Theatre controller with a single jack Subwoofer Audio Out (RCA type).
I have a Sony subwoofer SS-WS95 with has a standard two lead speaker wire connection.
Is there an adaptor cable out there for the +/- wire on subwoofer to the RCA mono lead for the DH500?
Is it possible to make these two work?
thanks in advance

Gershon,
Should be fine. Just be sure to methodically set up your camera as well as FCE, esp. the 16-bit audio setting on your camera. And to do HD in FC Express you will need to install the Apple Intermediate Codec, which you can get from Software Update or the Apple Downloads website if you don't already have it.
One other item - can't tell what model iMac you have ... if it's an Intel model, don't expect the current version of FCE-HD to run very well.

  • Connecting Sony Subwoofer to Yamaha Surround Bar YSP3000

    Hi ,
I have a Yamaha YSP 3000 surround bar and I bought a Sony Subwoofer. How can I connect the Surround bar with the Subwoofer?.
The Sony Subwoofer is the one which comes with the HT-CT100 Sound bar.
Any inputs on this will be greatly appreciable.
    Thanks,
    Raj

In order to fully utilize a 5.1 speaker, you will need a 5.1 capable soundcard. If your laptop have additional PCMCIA slot, you can checkout the Audigy 2 ZS PCMCIA notebook soundcard. If not, you can look at those USB version soundcard such as the Audigy 2 NX or Live! 24bit external.

  • FX5900XT VTD to TV cabling questions

Does anyone here know what cables I need to connect one of these cards into my Sony TV?
The two will be about 1m away from each other, and I lost my cables that came iwth the graphics cards.
My Sony TV has one of those (SVideo?) connecters, like a 9pin mini DIN or PS2-type connector (Like the one in the graphics cards. What are the correct name for these cables and connections? Anyone know?
Does anyone know whre in the UK you can get replacement cables for your MSI graphics cards (I'm still trying MSi UK)?
Any (I mean ANY) help much appreciated!

MSi replied and offered to replace the parts for me, free of charge.
Great people! Shame I can't telephone them directly and enquire, but a great resolution to an obscure problem.
Myogen, I know I may have answered my own question, but I was not sure of the correct terminology for the cable type. Now I do, I'll be ordering some
So, if you break the cables or lose them, call MSI, they *might* give to replacements for FREE

  • Mini-DVI to DVI Adaptor HDMI Cable Question.

    Hello All,
I have a mini-DVI port on my white 2008 macbook. I recently bought the Apple mini-DVI to DVI adatpor, hooked up to a DVI/HDMI Cable, which hooks up to my television, a 32 inch Sony HDTV. The TV seems to recognize the connection as the desktop shows up on my television, however there are no icons, it is just my background picture on my computer. Even when I am surfing the internet or playing a video, there is nothing that shows up. I have tried it with 3 different televisions, and used my roommate's computer and hooked it up to different televisions, with no luck.
Does anyone have any idea why I am just getting the background picture on my computer on my television, without any icons or anything else showing up?

You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. In System Preferences>Display there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen. You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box.

  • Time Capsule as an External Hard Drive + Ethernet Cable question

In reading up on the Time Capsule, it can be used as a router and for storage purposes.
    Some questions:
    1) can the Time Capsule be used just as an external hard drive, not for back up purposes at all? Is there a setting that needs to be checked to make sure that it doesnt back up anything at all.
    2) can I move files from a macbook or pc to the time capsule via an ethernet cable for faster speeds? Do I need a special ethernet cable?
    3) can I also move files from a macbook or pc to the time capsule via wifi if I want, just wondering if it is possible?

    yes.
however, files stored on the TC's disk cannot be backed up using time machine. also, if the drive fails, it will be very difficult to retrieve the data from it.
in other words, you need to find alternatives ways to backing up your data.
Is there a setting that needs to be checked to make sure that it doesnt back up anything at all.
turn time machine off in system preferences > time machine.
    2) can I move files from a macbook or pc to the time capsule via an ethernet cable for faster speeds?
i'm not 100 % sure about a PC but definitely from a Mac.
Do I need a special ethernet cable?
    [Cat6_|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category_6cable] will be fine.
    3) can I also move files from a macbook or pc to the time capsule via wifi if I want, just wondering if it is possible?
again, not sure about the PC but yes for the Mac.

  • Cable question (Older SB & bundled speake

Hoping someone here can answer this question. A few years ago I the Creative Soundblaster Li've! x-Gamer 5. and the Cambridge Soundworks DTT2500 speaker system.
I had been using the two with the tandem audio cable that came with them. This works fine. However my desk configuration has changed and two problems present themselves. First, the cable is now way too short and second the computer is no longer in a place where I can easilly swap the speaker cable with my headphones.
So what I'd like to do is connect my heaphones to the standard analog out (that I've been using) and connect the speakers through the "Digital out jack". Problem? In the course of two moves all the little extra connectors and wires have long since disappeared into the ether.
I've got the two manuals out here and the only name I can find for the digital cable is "Digital DIN" connected to a "Minijack-to-DIN". The Digital DIN connects to the speakers, then to the minijack converter and it to the soundcard. Searching for "Digital DIN" or "Minijack-to-DIN" gets me exactly nowhere on either Creative's store or anywhere else.
    I did find this: http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=3&subcategory=58&product=0370 &nav=features
Which looks like the adater I need? However it doesn't seem to be for sale anymore. Frustrating. :\
Help! Where the heck do I find these things?

The adapter for the DTT2500 is here:

I didn't find the mini-DIN cable itself. However, I'd suggest calling the non-technical Customer Support number and approach this as requesting some replacement parts for your speakers.

  • VGA Cable Question

I have (3) 23" Sony CRT monitors connected.
Two of them have VGA cables with some kind of hard rubber capsule (about 2" long and three times the diameter of the cable itself) on one end. What is this "capsule". The tech at Best Buy said it was a "terminator". Is that correct? Is it needed? What does it do?
My 3rd monitor does not have this in the cable, but that is the one that just started experiencing wake-up issues.

It's nothing more than a ferrite bead encased in plastic around the cable end. Google Ferrite Bead and you'll see.
It helps dissipate high frequency "noise". The Best Buy tech is an idiot, so what else is new....
Has nothing absolutely to do with the problem though...

  • Import video, cable question

First off i just bought my first MBP and am new to transfering video to computer.
I have a sony handycam that requires a 4 pin ILink (IEEE 1394)cable. I have the new 17" MBP. I believe it has a 9 pin firewire port, is this correct? If so would i need a 9 pin to 4 pin firewire cable?
    thanks in advance

Exactly. You need a 9-pin to 4-pin FireWire cable. Here's AN EXAMPLE from Amazon, but they are available many places.
Note that for transferring video to iMovie, for example, you would generally set the camcorder to playback mode (not to PC mode).

" If all you have is a little rca yellow video out on the camera, hop on down to radio shack and get a bnc cable long enough to go from where you want to put the camera to the monitor, AND get a bnc to male rca adaptor.
Never mind hooking any audio to the monitor, the speakers in them are NG"
    Jim,
Thank you! Yes all I do have is the RCA yellow out. Thanks for making things simple to understand. I was afraid that I made the wrong monitor purchase (from Bogiesan's comments). But I know you all advise viewing your work on a good NTSC monitor. As far as the audio goes - I'm really not using it for that.
I'll let you know how it works out.
If I was to buy something down the line to make it work from computer to monitor - what should I purchase? A board, prosumer video camera...?

  • IPod USB 2.0 only ( with dock to USB/FW Cable ) question

    Hi
I at last want to buy me an iPod but ...
Since the iPods are USB 2.0 now & my Mac has USB 1.x & FW 400 , you understand for using the iPod as an external & preferred bootable HD I need a FW connection to the Mac ( for data transfer ) & if i read correct this splitter cable only uses the FW for loading the iPods Battery. If so this means i still need to connect via USB for music / data transfer & the bootable HD option ain't there .
I really want to clear this out cause if this info as i just provided it , this will make the iPod less interresting to me & iPod mini doesn't support a camera / mic connection which also makes that less interesting.
At the end if above info is correct i rather wait to buy an iPod together with a new Mac ( do new Mac's with usb 2.0 support bootinf from a usb 2.0 HD ??? )
Please answer this asap cause i need to tell the person what gift i want & god i want to tell him " Just get me that iPod " ( it's in the right pricerange )
    thx

Hello....I just purchased a brand new iPod 20gb color photo last night and I have a couple questions myself, relating to this topic.....
I have a first generation scroll wheel iPod that this is replacing but I still have all the accessories from the first generation iPod....do you know for certain if the charger from way back then will work with the brand new iPod....I know the actual firewire cable is different because of the dock connector but if I purchase one of the new firewire cable w/ dock connector can I use it with the old charger (brick)

  • T7700 audio cable question

I just purchased a T7700 from a store as an open box item. Everything seems to be
there except I'm not sure about the cable that connects the sound card to the subwoofer.
All I received was a single black cable. Should I have received a 3-to-4-way cable?
I just looked at the product documentation online at creative.com, and it showed an
    orange, black and lime-green cable.
If I need this 3 way cable, where can I get it's
I have a soundblaster 5.1 live card with the digital output.
    thanks

The docking port output should be better than the headphone out. Headphone outputs don't usually supply much power. As for the cables, it will likely depend on your system and how your music is encoded in addition to how good your ears are. With a good stereo some people will be able to hear the the compression of AAC or mp3 at 128bits.

  • Apple TV v5 - optical cable question

If I already have HDMI cable going from the apple tv into my TV, is there any point to getting any optical cable?I know nothing about audio systems, etc, and was wondering if also putting the Optical audio cable from the apple tv into the flat tv or a sound receive will be better for sound?
Right now, I have no sound system...just a sony bravia KDL with an optical port
HDMI Cable going into the tv from the Apple TV, and optical cable plugged into the Apple TV, but was wondering if i should plug it into the bravia as well.

Your TV optical might be an output rather than an input - check the manual.
There will be no appreciable difference between HDMI and optical for audio when connected to the same hardware - some older surround kit (like mine) only has optical not HDMI.  Either can handle surround sound or stereo.  In my case I have HDMI to TV and optical to amp which has no HDMI.

  • Capture camcorder cable question

Sorry for asking such a basic question.  Using a Sony CCD-TRV67 Hi8 camcorder, going to a Canopus 110.  The Sony camcorder has a S-Video output, and two (not 3) RCA type jacks output, one video, one audio.  I can use the two RCA type jacks to go to the Canopus, just leaving one of the audio inputs on the canopus empty.  And, do get sound in the resulting captured avi.  I have not yet done anything with the captured video in PRE11 yet,  but I'm wondering if the resulting DVD will only have sound coming out of one speaker?  Would it be better to use the S-Video to capture?
    Thanks, Steve

I'm surprsed to hear that that Canopus unit will not capture stereo audio. The one I see online certainly has both a right (red) and left (white) channel.
    http://www.grassvalley.com/products/advc110
But, if that's the case with your unit, I'd get an RCA splitter so that you can plug both of your camcorder's audio outputs into the single audio jack. Otherwise, you'll only get one channel of audio.
(S-Video is video only, so if you use that jack, you'll get no audio at all!)

  • Sony Ericsson W801i question.

Hello, not quite sure if I'm placing this in the correct disscussion or not, so I'll place it in iTunes here aswell.
I recently purchased a Sony Ericsson W801i phone, and am wondering if theres a way that I can place music from a Mac on there? I've used iSync to place my contacts on there but yeah. Any help would be greatly appreciated !

Presumably you mean a Sony Ericsson W810i?
There are two ways to get music onto the phone.
    1) Send the music files via Bluetooth using the Bluetooth File Exchange app.
    2) Copy the files over in the Finder after connecting the phone with a USB cable in "File Transfer" mode.
Note protected tracks purchased from the iTunes Store will not play on the phone, but MP3s and AAC files you've 'ripped' yourself will.

  • Sony A5100 Bundle Question

    Hello,
I need help from a best buy rep here. I purchased on Apr 30 the Sony A5100 Camera in white online. I notice days after that the black color option is being offered in a bundle with different lens at discounted price. I went to the Sony website {removed per forum guidelines} and they are offering the bundle for white and black. Same goes for the store Bhphoto. So how can i get this bundle with the white color camera? Do i need to visit a store to have it bundle with the other lens? Please Help

    Hello dodgers79,
I am long past due for a new camera. I shudder to think how few megapixels my old one is capable of in contrast to today's vastly superior offerings! It's always a great idea to be on the lookout for great deals and I'm glad that you want to avail yourself of the bundle offer for the Sony A5100 camera. You ask great questions.
The bundle offer you mention includes only the black black A5100 camera with additional black Sony - 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 Telephoto Lens. Unfortunately, the white-body camera is not included in this offer. I regret that I do not have better news for you.
I'm very grateful that you wrote to us with your query.
    Sincerely,
