  • Sony Digital Media Port TDM-iP50 will it work with iPhone 4

Just wondering as SJ stated that a new dock would be needed with iPhone 4
would the Digital Media Port Sony TDM-iP50 still work ?
As this presently does with my 3GS

(I have iPhone 3GS with operating system 4 installed which works on my TDM-iP50)
I would like to upgrade to the new iPhone but will not if it means my media port will not work.
I was afraid that my TDM-ip50 cradle from Sony would not work with the iPhone 4 because that's what I read somewhere online and it's even what Sony told me when I called them. I was pleasantly surprised, however, when I got my iPhone 4 to find that it works just fine as it did with my 3GS. I guess Sony hadn't yet tested the cradle with iPhone 4 so they didn't want to say it would work.
The iPhone 4 can be hooked to TVs with the Apple Component Cable or Composite Cable instead of a cradle, but you won't have the remote control you do with the TDM-ip50. Well, at least I have remote control using the remote from y Sony Home theater system. Make sure you get the correct cable, read about both of them on the Apple site. cheap knockoffs are available on eBay.

  • Connection to Sony Digital Media port TDM-iP10

I bought a Sony Digital Media port, model TDM-iP10 to connect my 4th gen nano to a Sony stereo Receiver STRD-H100. It turns out this Digital Media Adapter iP10 isn't compatible with the 4th gen nano because the 4th gen has beveled edges that don't quite fit in the cradle. Black plastic adapters are supplied for 2nd, 3rd and 5th gen nanos but not 4th gen nanos.
I called Sony and they said they don't sell that black plastic adapter cradle part. They said, call Apple. Sony makes the TDM-iP20 which IS compatible with the 4th gen nano but they don't sell the iP20 separately. It only comes as part of a bundle with a high end receiver. And Sony parts department doesn't carry it either. (In fact they told me if you buy the high end receiver with the bundled ip20, and that iP20 is defective they'd send me a whole new receiver bundle package, just to get that replaced part!)
So....has anyone here used the 2nd gen black plastic cradle adapter on a 4th gen nano or does anyone here no how I can buy a Sony TDM-iP20 or just the black plastic cradle that come with it?
And, is there really any difference between the connection on a 2nd gen nano vs a 4th gen nano other than the beveled edges on the sides of the ipod nano?
BTW Google search finds no sellers of the TDM-ip20. That search only sends me to the Sony page which says they don't sell it as a separate item.
    Thanks Panther

  • Sony TDM-IP1 iPod dock and iPod Classic

I'm interested in getting the Sony TDM-IP1 iPod dock to go with my sony AV receiver, but I need to know if it'll be compatible with my 80GB iPod classic. I checked the manual on Sony's site, and it says it's compatible with the 5G iPod video, but I think the manual was written before the classic came out. I also contacted Sony customer support, and they said that they haven't done testing on it's compatibility with the iPod classic. So does anyone know if this will work or not (both video and audio)?

I found the following comments on Amazon:
    +iSeries Rules says:+
+Ok, so I took the time to talk to Sony (2 hours on the phone) and Apple (1 hour on the phone) about this.+
+Sony tell me that the iPod classic has the same specifications for the connection port as the iPod 5th gen Video. So, they believe that the problem is in the iPod classic's firmware. They did say that they were going to get their engineer's to look at connecting a classic up to see why it is not working.+
+So, the Apple story. Apple looked at this and said that the classic's video out was slightly different than the 5th gen. But, after looking at it a little more closely, and looking at some of the products that Apple sell for similar functionality (video out to TV/Receiver), they then started to feel that there may be an issue with the hardware/firmware. They also indicated that they had received reports of the classic working with similar products, and then failing to work after a recent firmware upgrade.+
+Apple also indicated that they would contact their engineers regarding the connection to the Sony Digital Media port, and give reasons as to why it is not working, and whether there is some way to make it work.+
+I should hear back within the next few days (given that tomorrow is friday, it may be early next week).+
+Hopefully this matter will be resolved by a firmware update.+
+What was really dissapointing was I plugged in my friends 5th gen, and it worked a charm. So it can work...+

  • Sony digital8 camcorder via firewire port, is it digital or analog?

    hi all,
I was successful to view & record from my Sony digital8 cam via firewire port. I'd like to know, is this connection analog or digital? Has anyone been successful to record, back up and edit their precious home videos on a G4 PowerMac? And how many DVD discs will it take on a full Digital8 cartridge?
    Thanks for your help
    Web dude

is this connection analog or digital?
A Firewire port is all digital.
Has anyone been successful to record, back up and edit their precious home videos on a G4 PowerMac?
Yes. Before the G5 came out, many people used G4s (and some still do) to edit not only home videos, but commercial television programs as well.
how many DVD discs will it take on a full Digital8 cartridge?
A standard DVD-5 (single layer disc) will hold about two hours of DVD-Video ... video AFTER it's been properly compressed to meet the DVD-Video standard.
However, if you're asking about raw footage (not compressed more than it was recorded), you should be able to get close to 14 minutes of footage per 4.7gb disc. Digital8 uses the DV codec which requires about 13.3gb per hour of footage. If you recorded the tape in SP mode, you should be able to get just over 1 hour of footage per tape.

What about a camera released a year ago? Should I get at least a bit upset fo the lack of support? Hope wit will come out soon.

  • Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.01 for Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11

    Check Software Update!
    Canon EOS M
    Canon PowerShot S110
    Nikon D600
    Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100
    Canon PowerShot G15
    Canon PowerShot SX50 HS

    Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ200
    Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G5

Those of you who have already imported "unsupported" photos into Aperture (i.e. Nikon D600) photos, simply choose Photos->Reprocess Original after installing this update (and restarting Aperture), and the photo will then show up.
Aperture Expert has a little summary too:
    http://www.apertureexpert.com/tips/2012/10/24/digital-camera-raw-compatibility-u pdate-401-for-aperture-3-a.html

I cannot fathom why a RAW update is not compatible with all versions of Aperture 3. This is forced redundancy in my opinion. Not happy...
I understand that this is annoying for you, but it is part of the redesign of MacOS to make it more efficient and not to waste disk space on redundant installations.
The recent raw update - as I see it - is an update to Mac OS X 10.8.x, not to Aperture. Since Mac OS X Lion Apple has started to migrate the raw support directly to the OS, so they do not need to install the raw support as update to many different applications. I have not checked yet - is this update included in Lion as well? I sincerely hope so.
Send feedback to Apple that you need this upgraded raw support also available in Snow Leopard.

  • Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.03

Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.03This update adds RAW image compatibility for additional cameras to Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11. Jan 16, 2014
This update adds RAW image compatibility for the following camera to Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11:
    Canon EOS M2
    It also includes fixes that:
Resolve an issue that prevented lens correction from working properly with Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 images
Address a color cast issue on some Olympus OM-D E-M1 images

I think this update has been released quickly to resolve the RX100 and EM-1 issues, which were quite serious for users of those cameras.
We don't really know what Apple is working on, but on past experience there is usually a reason why they take their time. Support for Fuji X100 and X-Trans showed the benefits of this. Ligthrooms support for X100 was incomplete and the initial support for X-Trans was quite woeful. The Fuji forum at DPR had a lot of disapointed users, so while they got support faster, they continued to shoot Raw+JPEG and use the JPEGs. I don't know much about Pentax's JPEG engine though. In contrast, when X-Trans support finally came to Aperture, it made a much better job of retaining detail and reducing the colour bleeds, still not perfect but much better.
So while I understand your frustration, you can perharps take a little comfort in anticipating it will probably be worth the wait.
If I were adding support for the K3, the thing that would trip me up is the switchable AA filter. This essentially means it's going to need different demosaicing parameters based on the AA filter setting. It will be interesting to see if any reports start to appear about how well Lightroom is handling that aspect.

  • HT3946 Does Aperture RAW support the Sony NEX-5R digital camera?

If I have the Sony NEX-5R digital camera will this allow me to use the updated Aperture 3 and it's RAW feature?

Here is the list of supported cameras OS X Mountain Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats
The Sony NEX-5R was included in Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.0.2 so if you are running the most recent versions of Aperture and Mountain Lion you should be covered.

  • Connect Nano 4th Gen to Sony TDM-iP10

I have a Sony home theater system that came with the TDM-iP10 for connecting iPods to the system. My 4th Gen Nano came with the plastic adapter that fits perfectly into TDM-iP10, and when connected, it will play all audio files. However, when I set "TV Out" to "ON" I get the message, "Please Connect to Video Accessory". The Sony system is the DAV-HDX576WF. I have chatted with Sony tech support, but they were unable to solve the problem, and suggested I try Apple support. Has anyone successfully used the TDM-iP10 with a 4th gen Nano?

I had the same scenario when I bought my TDM-ip10, but have since found out the dock is audio only. There is no video/picture/menu output. For that you need the earlier model TDM-ip1.

You are not alone in your opinion. The DMD is pretty clunky and useless. We gave up trying to use it. We code our apps with HTML and Javascript. You are correct in thinking that it seems Cisco pushed DMS out the door before it was really ready for market. That was my opinion also. I guess they had their reasons. I've seen the roadmap for the product so I am of the belief that in a few years they will have surpassed most of their competitors and worked out the issues.
5.0 released today. Upgrades will not be available until the end of the month. You can check out the new features on the Cisco website. Its a complete re-design of the GUI. We shall see just how much a step forward it is for the product set.

  • Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.12 and later can not be installed on OSX 10.6.8.

    Hi
I bought a new Canon EOS 5D mark 3 and noticed that my MacBook Pro with OSX 10.6.8 can not handle the new raw files.
Searching google shown that I need Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.12 or later.
So I tried with 3.12, 3.13 and 3.14, but all failed during installation with error: "Dieses Update unterstützt nur Aperture 3 und iPhoto 9."
    Hmmm
    Checking iPhoto ...
About IPHOT shows "Iphoto '09 version 8.1.2 (424)"
So I've updated Iphoto with version 9.2.1 (which I found matching my OSX after stepping down from highest version down ..... Apple is here not really supporting users here .......)
Unfortunately this is only an update.
So I need to install first a newer Iphoto version.
Iphoto 11 I can buy in the app store, but I can not install it on OS/X 10.6.8 .....
    Lost!
How do I get my raw files of 5Dm3 visible in OSX 10.6.8 ???????
    Any help welcome
    Thx
    Wolfgang

I maintain up to date my system, yet I have from time to time when I take RAW picture issues in iPhoto not reading them.  Today, looking for another issue I came across this update and I was hopping it would resolve my issues with the RAW photos from my Pentax K-30.
    The error:
    Installer quit unexpectedly.
Click Reopen to open the app again. Click Report to see more detail information and send to Apple.

How do I connect my external hard drive with all of my digital media to my Apple TV network and make it accessable 24/7?  I have the latest Apple TV, ipads, iPhones as well as a solid HP Windows machine all on my home network.  Is there a way that I can connect my hard drive to my receiver or Apple TV directly so that the digital media is available on my network 24/7 rather than have it connected to my computer and available through Home Share which never works anyway??
