Sony VPL - CS5 Projector Component input

Hello. I have a Sony VPL - CS5 Projector, and a Sony BDP-BX37 Blu Ray Disc Player.
I want to use these two items together.
The projector is an older model, and does not have an HDMI input, although the manual does state that the VGA input can also be used as a component input.
I tried making an adaptor wired as follows....
Pin 1=Pr+
Pin 2=Y+
Pin 3=Pb+
Pin 6=Pr-
Pin 7=Y-
Pin 8=Pb-
The projector manual described the above pinning as....
Pin 1=R
Pin 2=G
Pin 3=B
Pin 6=R-
Pin 7=G-
Pin 8=B-
While I do get a picture, i only get green.
Obviously I have done something wrong.
I have double checked the integrity of my connections using a circuit tester, and even though all connectors are fine, the projector only recognized the input from Pin 2/7.
Additionally, when I manually change the input setting from "Input A/Computer" to "Input A/Component", the projector does not recognize any signal at all.
All that being said, my question to you is how do I properly connect the 3 component output connections (Pr, Pb, Y) from my Blu Ray player to this projector.
All I need is to be told which pins on the VGA connector correspond to the positive and negative connections Pb, Pr and Y of the Blu Ray player.

The only suggestion we can offer over the forums is to use an HDMI to Component (YPbPr) converter. We cannot guarantee results , nor support the converter box, however this would likely be your best option to attempt to connect to the Projector for output.

Won't work with Sony VPL-PX20 projector

When starting up while connected to the projector the initial gray screen displays and the projector shows input, but as soon as it switches to the background picture during start-up the projector display goes black and displays "No Input".
I've tried this with two different 15.2" Al PBs and the same thing happens, or doesn't happen as the case may be. (c;
I've test these two Al PBs with our three other projectors which are older Epson and InFocus models and they work fine. I've also tested the Sony VPL-PX20 projector with various other non-DVI Ti PBs and a Dell laptop and the projector again works as it should.
I know if I call Sony looking for support they will say it's an Apple problem and if I call Apple they'll say it's a Sony problem. The thing that makes me suspect it's an Apple problem is that this problem only presents itself on two similar PowerBooks that only really differ in age one is new and the other is 8 months old. The projector works with other PBs, a desktop, a TV tuner and a DVD player with no problems.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be or how I might go about resolving it?

Two suggestions:
Make sure that the camcorder is connected to a power outlet, not running just on battery power;
As alluded to by thesurreyfriends, try a different FireWire cable. If you have a Rocketfish cable, it has been known to cause problems. I have a Belkin 9 pin to 4 pin (FW 800/400) which works perfectly with iMovie '11, using my older Sony DCR-TRV20E.

Composite is analogue with one connector. That is why it is called composite
Component is analogue with three connections. I think one for each color

TV tuner Card for Mac with Component input

Hey everyone, I was hoping someone could help me find a good TV Tuner card for my MacBook. I found a few potentials, however I've yet to find one with Component input that would allow me to play my XBox 360 at a resolution of 1050p. This is the resolution of my stand-alone monitor, and with S-Video the resolution would drop into the 400's. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Beause the batch field is optional in component input screen above step2,the user always forget to input it.
So I want to set Batch field as mandatory in component input screen.
I have not idea about it,Could anyone give suggestion?

this batch number field for the component in the PO is optional for various reasons. the batch that you send to your subcontractor may not even be produced at the time when you create the PO. In this case the user could not enter anything.
The PO is created by buyers, but the component is send to the vendor by the shipping department, the buyer usually does not care about the batch.
The batch field becomes mandatory when you ship the material to the vendor using ME2O, or even in the transaction MB1B
and the batch field is again mandatory when you receive the finished good and have to issue the component.
The batch field in the PO component can only be made mandatory from a good developer in a user exit

Capturing via component input: a question

Stupid question of the week: if I capture HDV footage via component input, will it take up more disk space than capturing via firewire? The reason I ask is because component is technically "uncompressed"... if it's HDV footage, wouldn't that suddenly take up more hard drive space?
The reason I ask: I'm getting the JVC HDV deck and it can only play back 1080i through component output. Therefore I need to know the best way to handle 1080i when I use it (my main camera shoots 720p).
Can anyone recommend an affordable, quality component input solution?

Why don't you capture the 720p HDV from the JVC deck ?
If its 720p60, it will convert onto a 1080i60 timeline reasonably well, although you will need to render it - it won't be realtime.
I think 1080i60 and 720p60 will mix quite nicely on a 1080i60 timeline.
You cannot capture the 1080i60 component to HDV 1080i60 - no deck will do an 'analogue in' for you, and to be honest there would be generation and quality issues in doing so.
The other suggestion made in this thread, about going to DVC Pro HD is also one worth investigating, but you already have everything you need to capture and create what you want (if I've understood your post correctly)

Sony BRAVIA VPL-AW10 Projector

My Sony BRAVIA VPL-AW10 makes this annoying buzzing noise when I try to turn it on, while the green power indicator light just flashes. After the light flashes and the buzzing noise stops the green light turns to red but also the lamp/cover red light flashes continuously for a long period of time. It does this everytime I try to turn it on. I've had the projector for at least two years. Any suggestions?

It might be time to change your bulb.
In the back of your owner's manual it should give a list of what the color and blinking of the lights means..
i.e- blinking red 5 times means bulb needs replacing etc (that's just an example)
I tried to write my signature here, but now I can't get the ink off my TV..

Connection to projector Sony vpl-vw11ht

I tried to connect the Powerbook through a VGA to BNC (+chinch), since the Sony has only cinch inputs.
No way I could get that working
Do anyhone have had similar experence?

yes VGA (using the Apple adapter DVI to VGA) to 5xBNC. The two sincs calble Horizontal and Vertical are there and even tried to switch them, but with no success.
So two source of possible problems: the Apple DVI to VGA adapter (but a vga cable to another projector is working perfectly), and more probably the VGA to 5xBNC adapter. Perhaps the wiring is not right on the standard adapter VGA to 5xBNC.
The Sony VW11HT accepts RGB but can RGB be outputted from VGA?
Also tried an ATI HDTV Compnent Video Adapter, but I had to find out (sadly after I bought it and called ATI) that is only supported for desktop cards and for windows ...
No solution for the moment ... any help welcomed.

Fscommand exec on mac to open pdf works in a cs3 projector file but not in a cs5 projector file

I could succesfully open a external pdf with the following command in Flash cs3 on a Mac:
fscommand("exec", "test.app");
test.app (inside an fscommand folder) is an apple script that opens the pdf inside the fscommand folder, to make it work I needed to copy the fscommand folder into the MacOs Folder of the Mac Projector File. The same steps don't seem to work with Flash cs5. I can't downgrade my cs5 project to cs3.
Is this problem a bug in Flash cs5?
Has anyone solved this problem?

I had this same issue today - could not get a mac projector, FP 10, built in cs5, to run fscommand("exec", "test.app") no matter what I tried. I also couldn't find any definitive threads via google, so here's everything I know about fscommand("exec") for anyone who's looking.
I wanted to run a custom batch (.bat) file on windows and a custom applescript file on mac. I needed to restart a legacy, cross-platform kiosk application on a click (unfortunately could not use AIR).
On the Mac (Flash CS5) - First off - Flash CS5 on Mac did not work no matter what I tried
I also tried opening up the .app package contents and copying the fscommand folder into that, with no luck.
You have to create the projector in CS4 (I down-saved to CS4 and used my PC running CS4 to publish) and put the "callee" .app in a folder named fscommand alongside the projector.

Here's the applescript I wrote:

For PC peeps, I used this awesomely simple solution on windows (Flash CS4)

I put two files in my fscommand folder (at the same directory level as my projector):
- restart.exe (proxy.exe from above link renamed)
- restart.bat
The .bat file simply has 1 line that starts my projector (in the parent folder):
..\kiosk.exe
I call
fscommand("exec", "restart.exe");
and then have a 1 second timeout to kill the first "caller" projector. I wrapped the function as it didn't seem to work otherwise:
setTimeout(function(){fscommand("quit");}, 1000);
Yes, this means that I have two instances of the kiosk running at the same time for about 1 second.

Flash CS5 custom component

I have a problem since I improved my version of Flash (CS3 to CS5). I created a component in which there are several parameters. My problem concerns parameters which are "Number" type. It appears to no longer be managed the same way since CS5. Indeed, if I pass a value greater than 1, the value retrieved in actionscript is 0. It seems that the values of "Number" type for CS5 should be as follows 0 <= x < 1.
Is this a bug? How to pass a value greater than 1 (eg: 800) ?

I would if we could - but we need support for unicode characters. Our primary language is Nepali using the Devanagari script, which is not supported by Classic Text (the written language is all about complex ligatures - often up to five multibyte characters are rendered as one).

Why can't I hide the menu in Flash CS5 projector files?

I'm making some executable / projector files in Flash CS5. Using CS4 I was able to stop the menu appearing by using flash.system.fscommand("showmenu", "false");
It doesn't work in CS5. Is it a bug? Or a feature? It's incredibly annoying - how do I get rid of the menu without resorting to an external projector program or without having to use AIR?

You can't get rid of the RH menus because [I believe] Adobe deemed it necessary to have the Flash version as well as security options and global settings in there for users at all times. At best you can minimize the listings on the right-click menu:

You can also get rid of the top menu using Resource Hacker, but the right-click menu stays, even if you delete the resource from the .exe file.

EDID file for SONY KDL40-XBR2 with HDMI input (for W510)

Please does anybody has a configured EDID monitor file for a SONY KDL40-XBR2 LCD TV? I'm using the HDMI input with a DisplayPort - HDMI cable and the image is awful. The monitor driver in Windows 7 is "Generic PnP Monitor" and it's pretty old. The problem is the text: fonts are pretty ugly...
I would like to over ride the settings using the NVidia control panel but don't have a valid EDID file configured for HDMI input.
I use right now the VGA port on my SONY KDL40-XBR2 and the image quality is better and the fonts are fine.
Can someone please provide a hint here?

Of course, SONY is not providing generic INF monitor files for their line of LCDTV's... no wonder they are going down!

CS5 Greyed out input fields in InDesign

Recently, InDesign stopped displaying the menu fields for any sort of input within the application. For example, when creating a document, I can't input a width or height or page numbers. Inside a document, I can't change the font size or type. Even when exporting as a PDF, the prompt box's won't allow me to change any of the fields.
I've restarted InDesign and my computer, and after that didn't work, I reinstalled the application, but the problem still remains. I don't know what to fix or what is even broken. I've never heard of this problem happening to anyone, and from searching around on the web, it seems pretty rare.
Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.
I'm on OS 10.6. I've followed the discussion thread of the previous post and I was at the step of creating a different user to see if the problem persisted in a new account. In my case the same problem persisted. Can anyone advise how to proceed?
I have accidentally deleted system fonts but I have used Pacifist to replace the default fonts.

Thanks for all your help guys, I had our IT guy at work take a look at it and even he couldn't figure out the problem. We uninstalled all the adobe programs, wiped all traces of adobe off the hard drive then further probed and cleaned all the files that weren't necessary then reinstalled it and had no luck.
What I ended up doing was upgrading to OS 10.8 and when I finished updating from the upgrade, I got this message when I tried to test the adobe programs by opening Illustrator (I had issues with illustrator first then somehow indesign started crashing as well):
Once I ran the install they were asking for Illustrator was fine and my indesign greyed output boxes were fine too. I'm not sure if it was a Java issue or fonts issue. Perhaps a combination of both? Anyway it's all fixed now. Thanks again for your help!

CS5.5 component upgrade problems

I installed Master Suite CS5.5 a couple of weeks ago, and all programs I opened worked fine. The one thing I used immediately was Acrobat X Pro to edit .pdf forms and save them. Thnking it would be a good thing, In Acrobat X Pro, I used the "Check for Updates ..." menu item (under "Help") to find any updates. It found a bunch of updates for all of the Master Suite programs, and I installed them. Well, that caused a bunch of problems with Flash and Acrobat X Pro. Attempts at editing .pdf forms caused Windows 7 to freeze. I think that CS5.5 might have issues if a newer version of Flash is installed (than came with the software).
My PC suffered hard shutdowns and bad startups (hanging) ensued. Several times I had to revert to earlier restore points to start up my system. Ultimately I did an uninstall and reinstall - using the Adobe CS5.5 Cleaner Tool - and all seems well again.
My question is, what happened with the updates, and do I reject future updates altogether? I 'm using Google Chrome for my browser, and I deactivated the automatic Flash updates it performs.

No error messages at all. Just a PC freeze up and then several reboot issues until going back to a restore point.
After my reinstall of the master suite I have one message from Support Advisor at every startup. It's a"licensing program" error "cpsid_83578r3: Error, "Validate license at Pre-chrome" when installing - Creative Suite 5." I searched for that issue description, and I will see if I can get rid of it. Right now, I don't know if that will cause me any issues down the road.
UPDATE
After reading a few posts here re the cpsid error and the particular products that had problems, I tried opening Adobe InDesign. The software opened, but it was unresponsive to any user commands (mouse clicks). My PC locked up for 30 seconds or so before I got mouse control back. I could not shut down the PC and ctrl-alt-delete then shutdown did not work. I finally performed a hard shutdown by using the on/off switch. I have yet to start the syatem up after that.
After my master suite re-install, I openbed all programs in the suite - including InDesign - and none of them caused any problems like lock-ups or freezing. I am uncertain as to why InDesign caused a problem since then.

Gigabyte Radeon X1300 PCI-E
MS Theater 550 Pro PCI
OS Drive = 250GB Seagate SATA (no raid)
OS = Windows XP Professional
The problem I am trying to figure out is that when I try to connect my xbox, ps2 or vcr to the breakout box with the RCA cables, I will select the composite input in any app [PowerCinema, WinampTV, ATI Multimedia Center] and after a few seconds or minutes, the computer will simply reboot.
I had no issues with installation of the Theater 550, and all of the drivers are up to date. The TV function works fine in all apps using NTSC cable connection.
I'm wondering if there is something I can try that I haven't thought of, or if this sounds like a breakout box problem?
DirectX version is 9.0c, and WDM drivers are all up to date ... this is on a very fresh install of XP btw.
Currently I have the latest ATI drivers installed, but I have also tried the disc drivers which came with the card. Basically every driver version I have tried has resulted in the same issue.
