SONY VRD-mc6 problem

I am playing Mini-Dv tapes from my Panasonic DV-2000, and using the RCA (Red,White, Yellow) cables to connect into me SONY VRD-MC6.  The tape plays fine, I can see it on the Sony screen, and can monitor sound from the Panasonic.  During the playback, my Sony VRD stops and gives me an error "Can Not Complete Playback" or "Cannot Finish Writing to Disc".  After 1 or 2 failed discs, it will finally work.  This process then starts again where the next tape I transfer will kill  2 of my DVDs and then the 3rd will work.  A few times, it will actually complete the transfer of the tape, and then give me a "Unable to Finalize Disc" error.
Does anyone have a clue as to why this is randomly happening??
 THANKS for any help.

The quality of the videos are better when imported using DVi (firewire) or i.Link. If you have this type of cable, it is best to use them to import the videos to discs.

  • Problem with Direct to DVD VRD-MC6: Playback width wrong

I made a DVD copy of a tape in my Sony Digital 8 Handicam DCR-TRV310, using an iLink cable, to my Direct to DVD VRD-MC6.  Play back of the DVD in my Sony Blue Ray DVD player BDP-BX510 on my Sony KDL-46WL140 Bravia TV was stretched width wise, distorted.  Adjusting the width setting on the TV did not fix it.  Play back from the camera directly to the TV is fine. Proper 4:3.  How do I fix this? Will the VRD-MC6 Direct to DVD make a proper 4:3 aspect ratio copy from my Digital 8 Handicam?

  • Copy Video From Sony VRD-MC3 DVD Recorder to Quicktime Pro

I burn short clips to DVD on my Sony VRD-MC3 burner. I then load it on my mac to convert over to quicktime pro so I can create clips and add to my movies. The DVD plays on my mac DVD player but I can't get it to open on my QT pro so I can convert to the necessary movie extensions. The Finder wont show any folders on the DVD. Can anyone help me with being able to load these files and then convert using quick time Pro?
    Thanks

I found this info about the recorder in a Google search:
    Disk /dev/hdc: 250.0 GB, 250059350016 bytes
    Disk /dev/hdc: 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 30401 cylinders
    Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
    /dev/hdc1 1 10 80000+ 83 Linux
    /dev/hdc2 10 20 80000+ 83 Linux
    /dev/hdc3 20 30402 244036536+ 83 Linux
Partitions 1 and 2 are ext2 filesystems storing the firmware files (locked up in a signed+encrypted cramfs image, so hacking will be hard). Partition 3 is encrypted xfs. Until someone cracks the encryption, no directory listing and no TS files (plus no guarantee that Sony is using TS files to store the content anyway). Breaking the encryption on any of this stuff may be tough since the manual acknowledges that they are using GNU Privacy Guard. On the other hand, since people have reported being able to update multiple units from the same Sony-provided USB flash drive, that would seem to indicate that the firmware isn't individually signed and encrypted for each unit, making it more significant if someone does manage to figure out the keys and signing scheme.
Sony does this kind of stuff all the time. It's similar to Macrovision protection on VHS tape recordings.
My guess is that the encryption is passed on to the DVD copy of the file which allows viewing but not any duplication or conversion.

  • How can I easily take clips burned using a Sony VRD MC3 Unit?

When I burn clips using the Sony VRD MC3, the clips will play on my computer but the finder does not show any files on the DVD. I think Sony creates it that way.
I was able to copy by creating a dmg image on the desktop and then burning to a new DVD. However, it would not be recognized by the DVD player on my macbook Pro like the original that came out of the VRD MC3. Any suggestions?

  • Import from Sony VRD-VC10

HELP! All my family videos have now been copied onto DVD using the Sony VRD-VC10 DVD Direct gadget. I want to print a frame from the disc. It plays properly on the IMAC. Apple told me to buy Toaster 10 to "rip" the disc on to the computer and put it into Quicktime or MpEG format. Roxio has been unable to get it to work with these discs. ANY SUGGESTION????????

you mean, you like to take a screenshot from a scenery on this DVD?
    no 'ripping'/conversion needed..
download the free player app VLC (videolan.org)
    playback your DVD
hit pause, when you reached your wanted 'frame'
use the usual key-short-cuts of MacOs (Apple-shift-4 and hit the spacekey.. click with 'camera' into player window)
process resulting pic in any other software..
=> Apples own DVDplayer app doesn't allow screengrabs, therefore the usage of a 3rd party app.
don't expect wonders in pic-quality.. a DVD has small res and is highly compressed.. good for watching on TV, less good when whatched on Computers..

  • Sony VRD-VC20 Disc Compatibility

    Hi,
My father has been using a VRD-VC20 for years to archive his television shows and has recently run into problems with disc compatibility.  He has always purchased DVD+R discs, either Sony or Memorex, without issue until recently when he tried a spindle of Sony, then returned it and got a spindle of Memorex, and neither set of discs was recognized in the device.  He was receiving the message "please insert a blank disc" (or something that effect) when he tried to record with either of these media.  He also found some of the older Memorex discs, and these worked correctly in the device.
Since it is highly unlikely that two sets of 50 discs were manufactured incorrectly (he's VERY thorough and tried all 50 discs from both spindles unsuccessfully), does this device have issues with newer discs because of manufacturing differences from previous discs?  Since one of the media in question is actually manufactured by Sony, perhaps you can verify what might be different?  Can you provide guidance on what media is compatible with this device going forward, so I can avoid my poor father blindly guessing at Staples in the future?  Thank you!
    Sincerely,
    Kendra

    Hi Kendra,
    Welcome to Sony Community!
This error will appear if you're using a disc that have been already recorded on other recordable drive that is not compatible with this drive. This will also appaer when you insert a finalized DVD+/- R or DVD-RW disc.
    Discs that can be used:
In stand-alone operation, you can only use DVD+R (Single layer disc), DVD+R DL (Double layer disc), DVD-R (Single layer disc), DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs.
Also, try recording from a different source and check if that helps. If the issue persists, I suggest that you get the DV Direct serviced. You can initiate the service request from the below link:

  • Macbook pro to sony bravia color problems

I am trying to hook up my macbook pro to my sony bravia tv. i have it hooked up through the pc input and i get a picture but the colors are all messed up. i was wondering if anyone knew how to fix the colors. i have tried the color utility on my laptop and the color settings on the tv itself and the colors are horrible. if anyone had any insight i'd appreciate it. thanks.

I completely get what you're saying with the different connectors but there is something very wrong. Don't get me wrong the picture's quality is acceptable; I mean it has smooth lines and, easy to read - etc. but the color is flat out wrong.
I know the TV can out put colors correctly, because last night I connected a Sony SR11 camcorder to the component input and all was good. I've only tested the Component and PC Input but the problem is definitely on the PC Input.
I do Graphic Design & Video Work for a living so I'm familiar when you talk about calibration, but this problem goes beyond calibration as I've been in and out of the OS and Sony's menus for calibrating and nothing seems to aid in the problem.
It seems some have this problem while others don't and what I'd like to know is if this related to a certain model # and version # of the Bravias or if its a video chipset issue. For people having problems like me --> raelle123 what graphics card you running? Also AldousH what graphics card are you using?
I know more than likely the simple fix is an HDMI cable and a DVI to HDMI converter but it really bugs me that I spent the money and the PC Input isn't working the way it should.
I plan on speaking with Sony today and trouble shoot with them. I'll also try taking video and putting that up today as well.
    Thanks.

  • FCE HD Output to Sony Trintron Monitor Problems

I am trying to output my Program Canvas to my Sony monitor, via a Hollywood Dazzle Firewire converter. When the Dazzle is trying to output to monitor, I get a very pixelated image and distorted audio.
All the settings under view appear to be correct, with Apple Firewire NTSC. Are there any thoughts at to what I might be missing here that could help fix this problem.
    Thanks

Connect your DV cam & see if you can play your Canvas to your camera. If that works ok, then the problem is either in the Dazzle, the TV or your cables. I would suspect the Dazzle first, or perhaps the FW cable second. Check whatever you can on the Dazzle setup - there might be some DIP switches on the bottom that need to be set.
You might find some informative/revealing material in this review.
(fwiw, I've never been wild about the Dazzle products myself, the quality never seemed up to other products on the market.)

  • Sony A7s. Problems conforming 59.94 to 23.976

    Hello
I'm trying to Modify / Interpret the footage so it plays back in slow motion.  I've been doing this for years without a problem however this is the first time I'm cutting with Sony A7s footage. As usual I go into the browser control click the clip > modify > Interpret footage and change my frame rate.
This works fine on some clips and the other clips it looks like I just slowed down a normal old 24 FPS clip.... That ugly choppy playback where all the in between frames are missing.
So far the only distinguishable difference I can locate is the file format.  Below is a sample from two clips, the info is from the clip properties in Premiere.
    Clips that won't conform properly
    PRIVATE/M4ROOT/CLIP/C0023.MP4
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 1.6 GB
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Frame Rate: 59.94
    Clips that conform fine
    private/AVCHD/BDMV/STREAM/00003.MTS
    Type: MPEG Movie
    File Size: 136.9 MB
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Frame Rate: 59.94
It obviously doesn't like that .MP4 or M4ROOT
Does anyone have a work around or any technical explanation of what is distinguishing this .MP4 from others ?
Also I tried to conform in cinema tools but that doesn't recognize .MP4 clips and it won't open them.
Any help, advice or links would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

Your post scared the crap out of me. Ive shot about 10 weddings using the A7s and all of it is shot at 60p in XAVCs and then edited on a 24p timeline.  Most of it is slowed down. I hadn't edited any of my footage from the last 10 weddings so I got scared that all those weddings would be choppy as you mentioned when it's slowed down. But, I just checked with a wedding I shot today (all at 1080p60 XAVCs (in that M4ROOT folder) on a 24p timeline) and it wasn't choppy on this end. Not sure what's happening on your end to make it not smooth slow-mo. Did you double check your sequence settings? I don't know. I have no idea what to tell you except that it "should" work okay. I do know that if I took a 60p clip and slowed it down 40% on that 24p timeline then I get the same smooth slow-mo result as doing it the normal "interpret footage" way. What happens if you do it that way? If that same clip was nested first and then slowed down 40%, it appears choppy. Sorry if I'm of no help. Just reporting what I see on my end.

  • Envy 6 to Sony TV Sound Problem

No sound with HDMI connection from Envy 6 laptop to Sony Bravia TV

    Hi,
This is a very common problem. From my view: why a $70 player works for the first time but a $$1,000 laptop fails, probably the implementation from MS, laptop vendors and from video card vendors does not go well. Please try this from the Dell forum:
General Instructions for Setting Up HDMI Audio
    Preliminary steps:
    1. Plug the laptop into a power source. Some of the models have a power management scheme that will not allow for HDMI audio while running on batteries. Later, after you get your HDMI audio working, if you find that it still does not work on batteries you can change your power management settings in the Control Panel.
    2. HDMI has its own audio driver separate from the audio system of the computer ( Sigmatel, IDT, or Realtek ) . It is incorporated into the graphics card's driver so make sure you have the newest version of your graphics card driver. On models with Intel graphics the HDMI audio driver will appear in the Device Manager as "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus".
    3. Turn off the computer and TV before connecting the HDMI cable. Later, after you get your HDMI audio working, if you disconnect the cable while the computer is running and lose your audio, try closing and then re-opening whichever program you were using that generates audio.
    4. Every time you try a different solution you should reboot the computer. HDMI audio is extremely finicky and seems to usually need a reboot.
    Make the Connection:
    1. Connect the HDMI cable to the computer and TV. If the TV has a "DVI/HDMI" port do not use it. Use a port for HDMI only.
    2. Turn on the TV and select the HDMI port you are using. Adjust the TV settings to receive HDMI audio if any.
    3. Turn on the computer. (Optional, some people close the laptop lid immediately after hitting the power button but I am not sure why. Most people should not need to do this.)
    4. Optional. Some models do better if the TV is set to be the primary display. To set, repeatedly press Fn+F8 (or ctrl+alt+F4) to cycle through the settings (laptop display only/laptop display plus external display/external display only). Reboot the laptop.
    5. Go to Start>Control Panel>Sound>Playback tab. Make "HDMI" the default device. (If "HDMI" is not there, right click in the white area and look under "Show Disconnected Devices" or "Show Disabled Devices" and see if it is there.)
    Post Connection Problems:
    1. If there is still no option to select "HDMI' as the default audio playback device, try re-installing or updating the graphics driver, or even try an older version. The graphics driver is the driver for HDMI audio, not the regular audio driver. A few people with Intel graphics had better results by uninstalling the graphics driver, rebooting, and letting Windows look for a driver (instead of downloading the driver from the Dell support site).
    2. Try disconnecting and then reconnecting the HDMI cable.
    3. If you are using Windows Media Player or Windows Media Center but get no HDMI audio even after it is selected as the default playback device, go to
Control Panel>Sound>Playback tab>Audio/Playback device>HDMI>properties>Advance>Exclusive Mode and uncheck "exclusive mode".
    4. Try a different HDMI cable.
    5. Try a different HDMI port on the TV.
    Regards.

  • Connecting G5 with Sony Trinitron Only---Problems

I am running MediaCentral on my Powermac G5 to turn it into a media center. All I want to do is connect my Sony Trinitron to the G5. I bought the comosite/S-Video adapter from Apple. However, when I plug in my TV, I get absolutely no picture on the screen. I can tell that there is a signal because the lines begin moving on the TV. I know the card is fine because I can plug it into a regular monitor and everything works great. I, of course, can't adjust any settings because things change when you plug in the different monitors. Does anyone know how I can get the display to show up on the television?

  • Sony HXRNX70U Importing Problems.

I have a 2010 Imac Intel Core i3, OSX 10.8.5. We have a small business editing film and have never had a problem importing footage from any camera before. We are using my friends Sony NXCAM 70U. We plug the ac adapter power supply into the wall, hook the usb up to the computer and turn it on. Generally a window pops up on the camera that says connect to USB, however before that happens a window pops up on my Imac that says USB device drawing too much power. I tried disconnecting everything that uses USB power. Still have the same problem. I purchased a USB 3.0 hub. The message still appears but less often? I found a menu in the camera that allows me to connect to USB, but a message appears on the camera that says, Check the connected device, AC adapter recommended, even though it is connected and it has full power to charge the battery in the camera. Im not sure if this is the right threads to start this question, if it is not I would appreciate someone redirecting me. Thank You for your help! All footage is in the internal memory.
Is there a way I can put the footage from the internal memory on a sd card right in the camera like a backup???
Final Cut Pro X, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

If you are getting this message you will need to plug the camera into AC power. Alternately you can use any SD card reader to transfer the files from the memory card.
